What do you think?

Lady and the Girl
Klort Linn, a university freshman who finds herself falling head over heels for a Lady. No, like an ACTUAL LADY, title and everything. But we all know fairy tales and rom-coms don't happen to Chinese kids. Or can they?
I just have to make her life harder so she doesn’t have time to care about me, that’s the game.
“Whatever.” Isla stomps out the door knowing I am not going to give in to her so easily.
I reach into my pocket and pull out the Isla sketches I have deemed as bad ones from before. Looking over at them, they are actually quite well done.
In Chinese, there’s a saying, “The most dangerous place to be is the safest place to be.” And now that I am literally partners with my worst enemy, I’m pretty sure there is nowhere safer than this.

I tried the kindle version because I thought the concept and cover art were cute despite the lack of noteworthy reviews on the Kindle page... big mistake.
I cannot stress enough how much you should *not* buy this book. This book wasn't proof read in the slightest, not even by the author's half-blind grandma on pain meds. Every single page is riddled with grammatical mistakes, mixed up tenses (is it present or past tense? Apparently, not even the author knows) or plain spelling mistakes. Lots of times the author completely butchers common sayings, some sentences completely losing their meaning in the process. Parts of this book read like they were auto translated by a machine - the only way you might have an enjoyable time with this is if you like spending your time deciphering unknown languages.
Some parts of the book seem to be missing entirely - I suspect things were cut haphazardly before the thing was published: at one point the characters reference how one of them supposedly played mean pranks on the other one (which would've made sense reading the description), but none of that ever takes place in the actual book.
I don't want to go into much detail on the content of the book, but since I made it to about 80% out of sheer boredom, just a quick summary of the important points: the plot has a few interesting points but is mostly forgettable. The actual romance doesn't feel very relatable at all because at one point the characters are just suddenly in love. This is probably greatly exacerbated by how inhuman the characters feel due to the weird writing.
The very small bits of conflict featured are uncreative and executed poorly. Most of the book is fluff, and both the characters and their way of speaking would've made more sense if the entire thing was set in high school rather than college. The characters seem incredibly immature, constantly screaming at each other as if they were young teens writing over chat (the actual bits where they *do* write over chat are almost indistinguishable in how over the top the constant caps lock is). I suspect the characters were initially conceptualized as somewhere around 14-15 instead of being young adults - that would explain so much.
There is no way the few good reviews of it are real considering the atrocious writing and dysmal QA. I would bet good money that 100% of the 5 star reviews are posted by bots, that's how incredibly bad this is.

I randomly picked this book up from Amazon cause the cover looked pretty cute and the plot sounded interesting. I very much regret spending that money.
-
The writing: was horrible. I couldn't even concentrate on the plot, because of the often very long and confusing sentences.
Exhibit A: "Resentfully, the floor decides to crack louder, jibing at my curtailment of stealth. The chink aligning with the door and its frame emits dimly, no need for the discharge of my phone."
I mean what the heck was that? Who talks like that?
It also felt like english isn't the authors first language, which is totally fine! But maybe let someone proofread it, who is a native speaker or publish the book in your first language.
-
The plot: was non-existent. Literally nothing happened THE WHOLE TIME.
-
The characters: were all straight up annoying and the main character gave off intense "not-like-other-girls"-vibes. She's so crazy and emo and she has a side-cut and blegh. We get it, you're a special snowflake, get over yourself.
I didn't care what would happen to the chatacters at any point of the story and if I wasn't so stubborn I definitely wouldn't have finished this book.

In my opinion a good book needs interesting characters and an exciting plot. At the very least it should have one of those things. And this book had neither one or the other.
