ARC Shifters #8

Forgotten Promise

Rate this book
At six years old Tyler Klein made a promise to his best friend Josie. “When I grow up and get my wolf, I’m gonna make you my mate.” Back then he didn’t know a lot about mating, but he thought he knew a thing or two about love.

Josie’s family changed allegiances to a new pack shortly after that and the memory faded long ago, that is until Josie shows up at the ARC to visit a friend.

Tyler understands a lot more about mating now after seeing many of his fraternity brothers of Delta Omega Gamma fall to their true mates. But he doesn’t know shit about love or how to handle the fact that the girl of his childhood dreams is his one true mate.

¿Qué pasó con el libro de Tyler?

Forgotten Promise de Julie Trettel serie ARC Shifters libro 8

Argumento:

Principalmente no aguantaba a Josie.

I 100% recommend this book! This is a reconnecting with your childhood best friend romance. In previous books of this series you don't really get to know Tyler all that well but because these two knew each other when they were 5 years old you get to see what he was like at such a young age. He is sweet and protective of Josie, he made her promises that he doesn't remember but he kept them nonetheless. Tyler and Josie's story is amazing! You see them falling in love as adults and finding where they belong. I can't wait to see what happens next in the ARC series!
This is a standalone novel but should be read in series order!

Julie Strikes Again!

ARC shifters don’t disappoint! Loved the telling of Josie and Tyler’s story. Josie’s a great addition to the True Mate family and of course we get to catch up with our lovely friends at the ARC (always my favorite parts). If Tyler didn’t capture your heart before he definitely will now!

**********Contains Spoilers**********

Wow, Julie has done it again. Again great addition to the ARC Shifters Series, and the Westin World Universe. Yes, this followed a similar path to the last 3 books with a lot less action and adventure but still a great read. I thought Josie and Tyler were great together. It was cute that they were best friends when they were little until Josie’s parents decided to move on like they usually did when they were 6 years old. Tyler made a promise to Josie that as soon as his wolf came in that he’d find her since they’ll be mates. Tyler forgot about the promise and Josie and it wasn’t until his fraternity brother asked him to double date on a partial blind date since their other fraternity brother Pete couldn’t. Tyler gets the shock of his life that his blind date for tomorrow night is actually his true mate and and even bigger shock when she knows his full name and then gets extremely upset when he doesn’t recognise her and runs out. It doesn’t take Tyler long to realise that he recognise that she was his childhood friend Josie. He needs to work out a way to fix things. Josie is very skittish with mating and it mainly stems from her parents being neglectful a*seholes that never should’ve really had a kid, since they never paid any attention to her.

I really liked how their relationship progressed and that they found a to make things work for them. Of course there was a lot of teething issues to start with, but when are mating males ever sane, where their unclaimed mate is concerned. I really liked Tyler’s friendship with Karis and how him and Damon and him cleared the air. I know Josie’s best friend Amber was worried about her, but when she’s never found her true mate and isn’t planning on finding him and taking her boyfriend as a compatible one she had no idea what Josie and Tyler were going through. I thought it was so cute when Marie looked into Josie’s soul seeing her memories of Tyler and that he learnt to cook for her so she’d never been hungry again, it was totally adorable even if he actually forgot why he learnt in the first place. I’ve even pre-ordered the next two books in the series and I’m looking forward to reading Pete and Hudson’s books but I’m hoping that Lachlan and Kian definitely get a story as they deserve their happily ever afters. I’m really hoping if Kian does get a book that his mate isn’t a black panther as they’re all a bunch of elitist snobs, or if she does end up being a panther she’s not one of King Lockhardt’s that’s for sure. Only time will tell. I’d definitely recommend this book, series, universe and author to everyone.

This book will stick with you.

I love Julie’s stories. She always writes a book I can easily got lost in, a story I can enjoy and characters I will laugh with, love and beg for more of, but this one stuck with me differently.
When I first met Tyler, I liked his easy going, self-confidence. I am so glad he made it in the DOG house and love the family vibe that house always has. I’m so glad he got his chance at a one true mate after watching all his brothers and best friend go through it. Josie is special.

If you read the book and thought, yet but where was all the drama and strife from fighting raglan? I’m going to tell you why I love this book and think it would be a great book for kids to read before they head off to college.

1. Josie had a sad past. We all have things from out past that have left a mark on us, good or bad. The thing I loved about this story is we see Josie deal with her past, recognize she is making knee jerk reactions because of what happened in her past that are not helping her present and she CHANGES how she reacts.
2. I love that Josie went home. She had a maturity I really appreciated. She was calm headed in a few different situations and I think her maturity really shown when she went home, tried to do the responsible thing, but soon realized she was not living the life she wanted and asked herself, “what do I want?” She didn’t ask others, she decided for herself.
3. Your friends and the people you surround yourself with matter. I loved the situations where Tyler and Josie’s friends had hard conversations with them and encouraged them to talk to each other, not guess what they thought and act on that, but talk to the person you are in a relationship with.
4. If you find yourself in a situation that you don’t like, remove yourself. Like if people you don’t like go to a party, just don’t hang with them.
5. You can learn important things from your parents even if they are not perfect. I loved the lesson of home is the people not just the place that Josie learned from her parents, or maybe despite her parents.
6. I loved how Josie and Tyler put the needs of each other first! They really have a solid start on their HEA with just that one thing! I also loved how Tyler did this with his brothers and the other students stuck because of the storm. He really tried to see things from someone else’s view.

Thank you for writing another amazing tale in the ARC shifters world Julie. I loved reading a story that I could not only relate to but learn from.

Fairy Tales do come true

A semi blind date turns into a blast from the past.
Tyler is already the sweet and charming boyfriend that bowed out peacefully for Katie and Damon and the one true mate connection to only become Karis's best friend.
Tyler agrees to take Pete's place on a blind date with Brian and Amber only to have his past unfold as his memories slowly come back to him.
Mating is always hard and so Josie and Tyler go through it on the roller coaster it always is. Feelings of rejection turn to dangerous situations then to comfort and protection.
Once those memories start to return then we get to see the absolute fairy tale beauty of this story. Tyler is the knight in shining armour ready to fulfill his promise and what a promise it was.
This story will melt your heart and leave you dreaming of your own Tyler all for yourself.

A definite must read book and series

I have truly enjoyed this series, and this book was certainly no exception. I have to admit, I usually don't read the younger types of stories (college, high school, etc), it's just not my thing. However, I had been reading the other series by this author (Westin Pack series, Collier Pack series, and Westin Force series), and I was intrigued to see what happened with the next generation. All of these series have heavy character crossover, which I loved, and once you've started, you can't help but want to read all of them! If you haven't already, I would highly recommend that you start from the beginning with The Westin Pack series. All of these series have absolutely fantastic stories, and you certainly won't be disappointed!
I would definitely recommend this book, series, and exceptional author.

OMG! Once I started, I could not put this down! Another 5 star winner, IMHO :) “Forgotten Promise” is the 8th fan-freaking-tastic, page-turner from the amazing must read series, the ‘ARC Shifters’ – a college for only shifters... Always relatable characters, both new and old friends, as well as sizzling chemistry between the H/h, along with the witty dialogue has them all practically jumping off the pages! ... Awesome descriptions with surprise twists & turns, that will keep readers turning pages like crazy! I was thrilled to find this on Amazon KU during my Kindle Unlimited, “trial membership” so I can honestly recommend this to adult 18+ fans of fiction & I can't wait for more from Julie Trettel, but of course I always do wait! ;)

Julie has created another wonderful story in this universe. Josie and Tyler’s relationship started when they were just little kids. Through this story we learn insights into why Tyler is the way he is (his cooking skills, etc). One of my absolute favorite things about Julie’s books is seeing previous characters active in each story. This book did not disappoint! There were so many previous characters active in their story. She does a fantastic job clarifying pivotal background information so you could read this book before any previous, I wouldn’t recommend it because the story is richer having read the others in this series. As always, it was an enjoyable read and I look forward to her next release. mybook.to/ARC8

Never disappointed

Julie always has me enthralled from the beginning, to the point where I literally can’t put it down. My eyes usually tell me when, when I fall sleep reading. Lol.

Ty & Jo-Jo are too cute.

The struggle Josie had growing up was hard, but she’s come through it and made a good life for herself. Her parents left a harsh mark and it’s hard for her to forget and shrug off how they made her feel.

Tyler, like many of the DOG’s is a down to earth, fun loving and well grounded.

This is a lovely heartwarming story, with a few twists and turns - wouldn’t be right if it didn’t. Haha. But getting there in love makes it all worth it and the ending is just perfect.

I enjoyed this latest in the ARC series. To make a promise as a child and then be able to keep it later in life is a wonderful thing. Josie has thought of the promise Tyler made all her life. Trucked from one place to the next by her parents Tyler's promise gave her hope in a world of chaos. She knew the promise wouldn't come true but it gave her something to focus her love on. Tyler had all about forgotten his promise, as he was 6 when he made it, but he never realized that the promise is what had helped shape his life. His love of cooking came from wanting to make sure Josie didn't go hungry. So when Josie resurfaces in his life, not only does he not recognize her but the promise he made is buried and forgotten. Can finding his true mate help him restoke his promise to Josie?

Did you have that one friend when you were a kid? You know, the one that got you through the bad times and always had a very special place in your heart? Imagine if you were to grow up only to find out that the friend is also your one true mate.

This is, in my opinion, the sweetest story Julie Trettel has ever written. I don’t think there’s one book by her that I don’t absolutely love, but this one will be one of those that I read over and over.

The book is a part of the ARC Shifters series, but it can absolutely be read as a standalone if that’s what you prefer.

I give it 5 out of 5 stars

Oh Julie you have done it again! Amazing story. I really love the ARC series. Especially the way Julie writes these stories bringing back friends from the previous books. I’m so glad Julie choose me to be one to get an advanced copy.
I absolutely loved Tyler’s story. The love/hate friend/enemy relationship he has with Damon kept me laughing. This story was such a sweet story. Bringing to people back together after all the years and finding out your true mates! Oh be still my heart! ❤️
If you have not preordered you totally need too or plan to get it and read it because you will love it. Of course it was one like usual, I couldn’t put the book down once I started reading !

Sandbox sweeties, Josie and Tyler lost touch as her nomadic parents moved quite a bit, but after Tyler promised Josie they’d be mates one day. Josie never forgot but was surprised when she came to the ARC to visit a friend and planned to go on a double date that turned out to be Tyler. Heartbreak, he doesn’t remember her but they’re wolves remember well.

Though fun to wrap a popular character and have a final peek at the DOG house, for this reader’s taste it didn’t farewell the series on a high note. For me, Josie was too hard to stomach and the ending was too, too fantastical even with suspended belief, sorry to see it end this way.

my heart is so full

Julie has done it once again! Josie and Tyler’s relationship is so intricate that you can’t help but love them even more. It also warms my heart to see so many previous characters active in their story as well! While some characters have moved on, there’s still that feeling of family that Julie has perfectly captured! Also, I think my favorite relationship might just be Tyler and Damon! Haha If you’re looking for a sign to read this book, heck this entire series, THIS IS IT!

Awww this was a cute story for Tyler and Josie, they had a background which made it more like a fairytale come to life.
Great story and plot, again the great thing about these reads is the mixture of past, present and future characters all involved in our main characters story. Lots of angst in different forms, some great friendships, and banter. The love scenes are sweet and hot, but respectful. I love how different each story’s mating is so different but the same. A great read and highly recommend to shi

Promise

XXX! ADULT CONTENT, READER DISCRETION ADVISED. Josie held onto a promise from childhood like it was her salvation. It served as a double edge sword. It helped her service years of neglect from her parents, which was good. It also helped her build walls that prevented her from getting close to anyone, which was bad. A chance encounter with the boy, turned man who gave that promise turned Josie's world upside down. Tyler was her one true mate. The boy who had promised her everything at five was her true mate. He didn't even remember her name! What the actual fudge!

This is a heartwarming story about two childhood best friends who reconnect after many years apart. Tyler’s story made me fall in love with him, which I wasn’t sure was possible after reading Pack’s Promise. This book showed a completely different side of Tyler. He is sweet and kind and has been working his whole life towards taking care of his mate! This book is a wonderful addition to the Westin world!

Tyler's and Josie story is soo good. Tyler is so sweet and confident. Josie is strong and independent. This book is very relatable. Josies life hasn't been easy her struggles hit so close to home for me.Growing up life was not easy the need for stability and structure is important for Josie but all that changes when she meets Tyler again.Tyler is bored with the party life. With graduation fast approaching he needs to figure out what's next

Drop whatever you are doing and pick this book up right now. It is completely worth every second you spend reading it. The love I felt in this book was so heartwarming. Tyler and Josie's story truly shows the definition of fate. My favorite part is that Tyler is always feeding Josie but he doesn't understand why. You will learn why when you read it and then your heart will turn to mush. This story is full of love and so much sweetness.

This book is definitely in my top 5 from Julie Trettel’s catalogue! I absolutely adored Tyler and Josie. From their first encounter I was hooked! I fell in love with this book because it was more about the relationship with minimal outside drama. I will admit at times I felt Josie was being selfish and driving me crazy, but she was just so sweet that I found myself giving her multiple chances. Tyler was not what I expected at all. His patience and sweetness was what Josie needed. Julie Trettel surprised me with this one because I am so used to threats on the horizons that I was 47% into this book when I fully relaxed 😆. I believe Pete is up next and with all the mystery surrounding this wolf I can’t wait for his story to be told!

Wow is a complete understatement. Tyler and Josie’s story is one for the record books. A true little girl’s fairytale come true. Your hooked for page one and just wow. You can actually feel the love they have for each other falling off the pages. From the childhood nicknames to the final adult discussion that changes their lives. It’s perfect from beginning to middle to end.

Book 8 in the ARC Shifter series is the story of Tyler and his childhood best friend Josie. After losing touch for 15 years they reunite. Their story gave me all the feels with a touch of fairytale love. Tyler especially won my heart in the book. Julie's heroes fall hard and Tyler is no exception you will enjoy falling in love with him.

Fairytale ending

This story is by far the sweetest one I've read from the ARC series. I'm actually really excited to read the All Star book number 10, because I'm hoping its Hudson's book. This book though was amazing, sweet, and a little heart breaking. Can't go wrong with any of them.

Enjoyed the story

I do think Josie was a bit much expecting someone to remember what they promised when they were 6. Just a tad ridiculous if you ask me. Tyler was such a mice and fun guy. Was happy that he got his story and true mate even if she had ridiculous expectations and then didn't want to follow through with them. All in all a good read.

Another great story

I love Ms Trettel's mind and this shifter world she created. She never ceases to amaze me with her well written stories. Since my first Westin book I became obsessed with her books and invested in this world she created and read all of them and fell in love with all her main characters and heroes and their stories. And this one was no different.

Julie Trettel is a wonderful storyteller who consistently draws me into the world that she has carefully created. Tyler and Josie’s journey from childhood best friends separated too young to true mates is filled with humor, angst, and all of those other messy feelings. I loved it!
