A perfect holiday romance that will make you laugh, smile, and perhaps even swoon. – Sydney Winward, author
Modern-day witch Cassie Moore’s cozy life turns upside down when her friend foresees the wrecking ball that threatens to destroy Cassie’s home and workplace. But Cassie isn’t giving up without a fight. She casts a well-intended spell meant to save her apartment and her job. But magic is unpredictable, especially when her friend casts a little charm of her own that has Cassie lusting after the man she desperately wants to despise.
Jack Quinn has had his eyes on Lakeside Books for years, and he couldn’t be happier the owner is finally ready to sell. He has big plans for the cozy waterfront property, but he didn’t expect to care about the store or its employees. And he never imagined he’d be drawn to a certain brown-eyed saleswoman.

This is a Cute Witchy Christmas Romance Novella, and this book is part of the Christmas Cookies series. I have not read the other books in this series before picking up this book. I loved the characters in this book. I think for a Novella the storyline had a lot of development. I really enjoyed this book, and I found the ending to be cute and sweet which was everything I wanted for this book. I also enjoyed all the little witchy moments in this book, but I wish there was more witchy moments in this book. I also love the cover of this book. I also love all the Christmas that is in this book. This is a short Novella that I read in less then one hour, but it was still Great Novella. I received an ARC of this book. This review is my own honest opinion about the book like all my reviews are.
Merry Little Wishing Spritz by Cherie Colyer is an absolutely delightful romance novella imbued with fun witchy magic and wonderful Christmas magic. Cassie and her best friend Peyton are witches. Peyton has visions and sees the building housing Lakeside Books where Cassie works and lives in the upstairs apartment being torn down. I enjoyed Cassie's attempt to stop the building's demise. It was also fun to follow along as Cassie fought her attraction to Jack Quinn, the man buying the building. I really enjoyed all the touches of magic in this story. The cover is adorable. It caught my eye right away. It is so festive. This is a fun storyline highlighted with Christmas spirit.
A premonition with a wrecking ball spurns Cassie to cast a wishing spell but the tables are turned when she’s the recipient of a spell. Cassie loves living above a bookstore and working there as well. She helps own Bea by using little spells to keep the building from falling down but she must not divulge she’s a witch. When news hits that Bea is selling to some guy named Jack, Cassie goes into full-blown panic. She creates a wishing spell and gives Bea the chance to back out of the sale. But like everything in Cassie’s life, it goes horribly wrong. Upon meeting Jack, she has all these lovey feelings toward him, a guy she wants to despise. Turns out her friend cast a spell of her own on Cassie. Sparks fly between Cassie and Jack but it’s all part of the spell, right? Or maybe, just maybe, this magical feeling she’s experiencing is love. Ugh, what’s a witch to do? Can she stop Jack from his demolition plans or will Cassie have to face facts that it’s time to move on?
Merry Little Wishing Spritz is a delightful holiday fantasy romance I couldn’t put down. This is an enemies to lovers romance with a magical twist. Cherie Colyer is a gifted paranormal romance writer, so it was fun to read her foray into holiday fantasy romance. From the very first page, there’s a whimsical undercurrent to Merry Little Wishing Spritz. Cassie is such an endearing heroine. While under the spell, her inner dialogue is hilarious. Cassie and Jack’s meet cute is adorable. Who knew peppermint bark had that kind of power? With a character-driven plot, you can’t help but feel good while reading Merry Little Wishing Spritz. The characters are vibrant with each having a distinct personality. The romance is flirty with a definite sparring vibe. I kept rooting for them to work it out. There’s something about Jack that will make readers gasp. I won’t reveal it here but trust me, you’ll fall for him. I finished reading Merry Little Wishing Spritz and I wanted to read it again and again. That is something special and it’s all thanks to writer Cherie Colyer. If you’re looking for one magical holiday romance to read, pick up Merry Little Wishing Spritz. It’s going on my annual holiday reads list. Highly recommend!
Disclaimer: I received a copy from the author in the hopes I'd review it. My thoughts are completely my own.
Everything I wanted for Christmas is in this book! I couldn't put down this lovely holiday fantasy romance. This relationship has a fantastic twist on the concept of enemies becoming lovers.
The plot moves along smoothly, has great characters, a magical Christmas backdrop that puts me in the festive mood, as well as some mysteries that work out well. The bookstore appears to be at the center of all the different narratives, which are brilliantly intertwined. There were several small things that stirred the soul, elicited feelings and emotions, and vividly depicted their particular corner of the earth.
The female protagonist in these short, homey Christmas tales can simply come out as a bit of a wuss, but Cassie was tough without being overbearing; she kept her own for the right purposes while also acknowledging her flaws.
The relationships between Cassie and Jack were also entertaining, and the characters are simple to identify with. Romance is in the breeze, especially with the help of some well-placed ivy. I'd like to see these characters again with a lovely ending and happily together ever since.
The whole book was basically enjoyable to read! All readers, regardless of age, should definitely read it! The perfect short stories to kick off your Christmas season.

This novella is the perfect story for when a reader is short on time but needs a quick fix of romance. Merry Little Wishing Spritz made me smile, grin, giggle and thoroughly entertained me. It kind of reminded me of Samantha in Bewitched, and when Cassie spoke to her cat, Smudge, it brought to mind a fond memory of Bell, Book and Candle when Gillian, the female lead, talks to her cat, Pyewacket. The thing is with this story, it’s more upbeat, sweet and playful with a happy ever after ending that left me happy and content.
I’m of the opinion that this story would make a delightful holiday movie which could be watched not only at Christmas, because of the mistletoe, but Halloween too, because good solid romance movies can span the holidays that happen towards the end of the year. I would really enjoy watching all the little pranks Cassie played on Jack. He was a good sport about it all – not suspecting a thing, of course. The scene with the reindeer made me grin.
The supporting cast is pretty much one person, Peyton, Cassie’s best friend. She’s the heroine’s cheerleader, confidant and conspirator in getting Cassie to open up to the possibility that Jack may not be like all the other losers Cassie had dated in the past. She was a perfect best friend and I liked her personality.
It was a stroke of genius to include the topic of gift giving to those in the community that had no one to give them gifts. Cassie and Peyton dressed up as adorable elves and that’s another reason why I could see this book being made into a film. There were so many details that touched the heart, coaxed emotions and feelings, and brought to life their little part of the world.
Merry Little Wishing Spritz is a happy romance story that includes a little paranormal zing of witchy wonderfulness to spice up the fun as Cassie and Jack fall in love. I’m glad I found this little gem and I believe a lot of readers are in for a treat when they read this book for themselves.
4.5 Stars. Get in the holiday spirit early with this sweet novella. The cover is adorable, and the story was enjoyable from beginning to end. An exceptional cast with Cassie and Jack as the lead, but the secondary characters are equally fun, which includes an adorable cat. Cassie warms your heart with a gift donation every year in the community, and Jack is keeping a secret. This book is perfect for an afternoon read and has a spritz of magic and a sweet romantic ending. As part of The Wild Rose Press’ Christmas Cookies themed books, Merry Little Wishing Spritz is my recommended read to get you into the holiday mood. Reviewed for Still Moments Magazine.
I started reading this book with high hopes and I wasn’t disappointed! Cherie Colyer expertly crafted a bewitching story with magic, surprising twists and turns, and a charming hero. The tension between the characters kept me holding my breath, at least until the flip-flop of rivalry and friendship had me busting a gut. Merry Little Wishing Spritz is a perfect holiday romance that will make you laugh, smile, and perhaps even swoon.
Nice short read perfect for the dark nights. A wonderful case of will they, won't they. Full of cute twists between the characters. I've always wanted to be a witch so this was brilliant to imagine myself as Cassie. ⭐⭐⭐⭐
I do enjoy reading romance stories with a touch of the paranormal, in this case witches. In this case we have Cassie, working in a bookshop whilst hiding her magical abilities. Her perfect life is at risk when the owner of the bookshop decides to retire and sell the shop for redevelopment, which would leave Cassie without a job or a place to live as she stays in a flat above the shop. Enter some prophecies, magic, fun and, of course romance with the dastardly developer. This is obviously part of a larger, multi author series, although this is the first I've read. It works well as a standalone story, think of a Christmas movie with a touch of magic, but I would like to also read some of the others. I certainly will be keeping an eye out for new books by this author as she manages to hit that perfect spot for me in a story. I received a copy of this book from the publisher through BookSirens, however this did not influence my review of the book.
The Merry Little Wishing Spritz is an enjoyable read. It's a romantic Christmas story complete with a bit of witchy magic. Cassie and Jack's interaction brought a smile to my face more than once. And the happy after ending makes this novella a perfect, quick holiday read

I absolutely loved the story. It was engaging and definitely something special. The characters are fun and likable, which made the book a lot of fun!

Merry Little Wishing Spritz by Cherie Colyer has a magical twist on an enemies-to-lovers romance. To save her beloved bookstore from an entrepreneur, our witchy main character Cassie and her bestie, Peyton turn to magic. These characters quickly joined my book best friend’s list for their banter and loyalty to each other. I loved Colyer’s magical system and how it doesn’t always go as the conjurer intends. This made for scenes which may me giggle, sigh, and grip my Kindle with white knuckles at points of the story.
Our hero, Jack, is purchasing Lakeside Books and Jack is oblivious to the bookstore’s charm and the magic swirling in it. I love a hero who is genuinely good but lets his ambitions blind him to the nuances around him. It makes for an enemy who can easily convert to a hero. Colyer excelled in this as she made their rivalry believable but redeemable. I loved it.
Overall, I highly recommend Merry Little Wishing Spritz for a witchy Christmas tale. It is perfect for the paranormal romance lover who wishes to partake in some holiday cheer.
Merry Little Wishing Spritz by Cherie Colyer is part of the Christmas Cookies series. Stories are penned by different authors in various locations and include different genres. They are short books and quick reads. Merry Little Wishing Spritz is the second one I’ve read, and I look forward to reading more. Ms. Colyer is a new-to-me author.
Merry Little Wishing Spritz is Cassie’s story and has a lot of magic since it has a paranormal bent. Cassie works in a bookstore that’s being sold so the building can be razed and an inn built in its place.
Cassie runs into Jack at the grocery store and doesn’t realize the importance he may play in her life. There’s a definite attraction, although Cassie tries to ignore any pulls she might have to a mortal. She’s a witch and uses her magic and powers throughout the story.
The story has a nice flow with wonderful characters, a captivating Christmas atmosphere to get me in the spirit, and some secrets that play out nicely. Different storylines are woven together well, and all seem to have the bookstore at its core.
There’s love in the air, especially with strategically placed mistletoe. With a happily ever after and nice closure, I’d love to meet up with these characters again. I love how whimsical the cover is with details pertinent to the story. It’s colorful and fits the Christmas vibe of the book.
Merry Little Wishing Spritz is a magical short holiday read with charming characters and a lovely ambiance that will leave you wanting more—in all the best ways!
Cassie is about to lose everything. Big change threatens her present and her plans for her future. The home and the job she loves are facing a large yellow construction crane and demolition blueprints according to a prescient vision disclosed by her friend. Lakeside Books is a charming store and living above it suits Cassie just right in the idyllic town of Mystic Creek. She had a beloved history with this bookstore and Bea, the current owner. On the brink of a heartbreak, her thoughts turn dark toward the anonymous buyer. Wrath in a witch such as Cassie can be a worry, except she's bound by the magic rules, or can those rules be stretched?
Cassie and her friend just happen to have baked a batch of special cookies used to cast a wish-come-true spell. Deciding it's worth a try, Cassie casts enthusiastically and with only the best of intentions. What could possibly go wrong? Just like Cassie, you'll be surprised at the answer to that.
The first surprise is the handsome new visitor to town who has a great interest in the bookstore as well. Cassie's attraction to this man grows stronger as she gets to know him better. She has her own rules to apply in this aspect of her life too. This dear witch has vowed not to date mortals. In this case, it's a tough decision to stick to, romance has a magic all its own.
It's not long before Cassie has her hands full smoothing the wrinkles caused by her good natured spell. Some of the affects are unexpected and don't seem to occur due to her actions alone. Is someone else dabbling in magic?
Author Cherie Colyer writes a delightful, winsome romance that amuses from page to page as the reader frolics through this charming witch Cassie's story. You'll want to linger over every page with its vivid descriptions, sweet humor, and characters that you'll wish were friends living in your own hometown. Spend the holidays with them in this merry little read.

This was a perfect sunday read. It's short, sweet, and festive. Is it too early to think about christmas in October? Yes. Am I in a festive spirit since last week? Also yes. Did the book add to that? Absolutely. Am I mad about that? Not even the slightest.
The characters were cute, the story was cute, everything was cute. I liked how Cassie tried to stop her thoughts about Jack, how she was aware of the spell.
If you want to read a quick, cute romance, I totally recommend this one!
This cute novella was just what I needed after some crazy holiday shopping. The story made me giggle and grin due to Cassie and Jack' emenies-to-lovers story.
The story has a nice flow to it - it never got boring and pace kept me interested. The characters quickly became favorites that I would like to visit again and again. The Christmas atmosphere made it all the more enjoyable, as it reminded me both of Bewitched and a sweet Christmass rom-com. The different storylines could have been confusing, but they worked well together.
The perfect little novells to start off your holiday season.
Well, this book is a first for me. A paranormal Christmas story. Never would have thought that I would be reading one but I did, and I liked it. It was cute, featured a book store (score), a witch, and just enough romantic elements for me that really worked. I’d like to say it was an enemies to lovers trope but I think in the end it wasn’t. Cassie and Jack don’t have any sort of backstory. They have just met and the sparks fly; much to Cassie’s dismay.
Cassie is hilarious but also heartwarming. She cares about the store and other people. Okay, she wants nothing to change and is willing to do anything to make it happen. But her casting a spell is just priceless. She was warned. Didn’t listen and things went haywire after that. There wouldn’t be a story without that and I loved it. Cassie is just endearing to me. Throughout the book, she is trying to save her job and place to live. She never even thought about a boyfriend but in walks in Jack. Jack is a great guy. He isn’t in it for the money, he’s just trying to help out his buddy’s mom. He never expected Cassie either. That’s why the romance works. It’s unexpected. Yes, we knew all along that they would end up together but the fun was getting them to admit their feelings.
I’m not going to lie, the twist at the end was excellent. Ms. Colyer surprised me. In fact, I’d love to read about someone like Jack. Hint, hint. But that’s just me.
Overall, do yourself a favor and read this sweet story about a witch, a book store, and an unexpected romance. Not to mention a cat named Smudge.
This is a sweet story about love and magic. And how hard it is to believe in love, and how much easier it is to just see obstacles and believe in coincidenses.
The frame of the story is an old bookstore about to be sold and demolished and the young witch working there. Cassie wants the bookstore to remain untouched and fights for it.
Her witch friend Peyton is a good friend to Cassie, with that I mean that she don’t always agree with her.
The presumed buyer, Jack, is both handsome and nice, but is he for real?
Cassies inner turmoil drives the story, but it’s a light and easy read in spite of this.

Merry Little Wishing Spritz was an absolutely charming holiday read! And yes, the pun is intended. It's been a while since I read a good book with a paranormal twist and a fun witch. This book and I were meant to be, because it came across my path just as I was wishing for one. And it really is darling. It's also relatively short, which is perfect during this chaotic time of year. But you still get all the story that you need.
It's a part of the multi-author Christmas Cookies series, which I am enjoying as a whole.
Jack and Cassie really are perfect for each other, even if they don't want to admit it at first. They probably didn't need a magical boost, but the holidays are supposed to be magical, right? It's actually amusing watching Cassie foible through her own attempts at magically manipulating her world and then trying to sort out her own feelings from the spell she's convinced she is under. There's even a fun little twist that I pretty much saw coming, but still loved when it happened.
I'd actually love to see more out of these characters! They were cute!
Thank you to the author and Goddess Fish for the requested review copy. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Christmas, spells, romance, books, and more! This was just a wonderful fun novella!
So I was part of the Book Blast for this one and just had to pick it up to read as well. It just sounded too cute and magical. And it was! Also, I really wanted to know who got the mint bark. XD
In this one we meet a modern witch named Cassie who isn’t too happy to hear that she will soon be homeless and that the bookstore she lives above will disappear. I could definitely imagine that she was struggling with her feelings when she falls head over heels for the man planning to destroy her home, I would also have been swinging from left to right. Should I kiss him? Hit him? Cover him in snow? Something else? So I had fun seeing Cassie try to figure out her feelings, and then also wonder if it is all the work of a spell… or something else. I really loved Cassie as a character, she is sweet, works hard, and is dedicated. I loved seeing her use her magic (especially to make sure the whole place doesn’t collapse in a heap of rubble) and loved that they could also bake cookies with a hint of magic (now I want one btw). I found myself rooting for her and hoping that she was able to do something to keep this store intact. Something so that people can still get books.
Jack was just so swoony! I had a suspicion about him from the start and with each new hint my suspicion grew and I was eager to see him confess what he is hiding. I loved that he at first was very much about getting the contract, make sure his plans come true.. but then we see him along with Cassie and see how important the store is. I loved seeing him chance bit by bit and be more open about maybe doing something else along with his plans. He was also such a sweet guy, so at times I felt a bit sorry for him when Cassie lashed out to him. He did try his best. He did try to make people happy.
I loved seeing the two get closer and have some very close encounters (sadly, no kissing until later) and I was just cheering for these two to get together.
Oh, and extra points to the wonderful Peyton. She was such a great character!
The ending made me smile so much, it was just so sweet and fun and fitted perfectly with the story.
All in all, if you are into a sweet swoony Christmas story I would recommend this one.
Witches, romance, and Christmas - the perfect combination I did not know I needed! The little witch moments from Cassie and her best friend Peyton were a fun element to add into a romance. I would have gladly read more with those 2 characters! The connection between Cassie and Jack felt real even with the fast of this being a novella. Cassie and Jack start out as rivals, or almost enemies. I love the enemies to lovers trope so it was fun to read and see it play out in a novella. I also loved that the setting was in a bookstore. It is always easy to envision that type of setting when I'm reading. This is a fun, quick read that will be great for the holiday season! I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
I hoped this book would be a cosy Hallmark-type Christmas movie, and thankfully it did not disappointment, and the added bonus was it only took me about the same time to read it as it would to watch a movie. It isn't always easy to get good solid characters in such few pages, but Cassie, Peyton and Jack were believable, and I felt as if they had backgrounds and hadn't just sprung out of thin air to make a story. I had no idea what a wishing spritz was, but it turns out to be a cookie imbued with a little magic, which sounds both delicious and charming.
Sometimes with these short cosy Christmas books, the female character can be a little too much of a push over, but Cassie was feisty but not overly so, she stood her ground for the right reasons, but also admitting when she was wrong.
There is also a very sweet background element to the plot. Cassie is obviously keen to keep her apartment and job, but there is also a community aspect as to why she doesn't want the bookshop to close.
If you’re not a fan of paranormal/magic novellas I don't think this should be you off reading it. The magic moves the plot in places, but it doesn't really move it forward. Most of what is in the book could easily happen without the use of magic, think of the magic as the little sprinkles on top of a hot chocolate!
There is an extra little surprise in this book too, but I don't want to give away any spoilers, so if you want to know what other little secret is hiding between its Christmassy covers grab yourself a copy and indulge in some festive magic.

What happens when the bookstore where you work is being sold? Cassie Moore, modern-day witch, decides to try to fight the sale of Lakeside Books. Wealthy Jack Quin, the buyer, is interested in the waterfront location for one of him many inns. And…he is fascinated with Cassie.
Sparks and magic fly as Cassie uses her powers to try to discourage the sale. Will she succeed? Will she find love? Will Jack find out Cassie is a witch?
This is a cute and easy read which can be finished within a few hours. Perfect for the holiday season.
Loved it! Such a sweet and funny story! The writing was wonderful and it kept my interest....only one problem that it wasn't long enough and that is a good problem. I didn't want the story to end! The characters are easy to relate with and the chemistry between Cassie & Jack was hilarious! I would have liked to read more of the shenanigans between the two of them. Honestly I hope the author makes this a series...I would definitely read them. Highly recommend if you want a quick and clean read..

Such a warm and "magical" story! I loved Cassie and her kitty smudge. The book store setting brought back memories of spending time in hole-in-the wall type stores filled with books and memories. I was having a not so great day and reading Merry Little Wishing Spritz made my whole weekend better. The banter and romance between Cassie and Jack was adorable. The epilogue left me with a huge smile.
This story was all sorts of fun. Just everything that I expect from a quick rom-com. Cassie was hilarious and her bestie was awesome. Honestly, that girl needed much more page time. She was everything. Throw in a super sexy man, magic and Christmas and this was a recipe for success. I smiled. I laughed. I felt all the fun happy feels.
The plot was standard for this genre, but the wit and clever writing helped work around familiar tropes. But some things were too obvious. Like knowing what spell was actually cast. I just didn’t see Cassie not figuring it out especially when her friend flat out told her it wasn’t what she thought. Also, the ‘secret’ witch card would’ve been better not played because, again, it was unquestionable that Cassie’s assumption was right so the payoff didn’t land that well in the end.
Then, the biggest overused plot point in this genre, was the ending drama that wasn’t at all needed. It’s almost as if after an entire book the author just said let’s have our main characters be mad at something. Forced Cassie to jump to a conclusion instead of fight because, at the very least, arguing the point would’ve led to an explanation. It just felt so off. It was such a big assumption jump I couldn’t make it make sense. And it was resolved literally in two pages. So not only was the tension forced and hard to believe it didn’t even drum up enough of a problem to be considered important enough to care about. I honestly don’t know what the obligation is to have a smart capable adult woman always jump to instantaneous wrong conclusions that lead to impending doom for the relationship in romance novels. It’s definitely the most overdone trope and with life creating so much drama all on its own, there are so many other ways to do this that are more believable and infinitely more intense that will really get a reader on their toes.
Since this was at the end of the book it loses a star because even if this thing I don’t like happens there should at least be enough page time to sell it, and for such a short book a warmer and more cosy fit that matched all the fun stuff beforehand would’ve worked better.
And, lastly, the wiggling of noses did not have the desired effect on me. There is only one witch I can think of that does this and in all my decades of reading witch books, I have never come across it. To be fair it was odd and quirky for the original witch back before I was born in Bewitched as witches generally can cast small spells without being noticed, but it was unique to her character. In this book, it was probably meant to be a nod to the Bewitched character but every time it happened I could not think of Cassie as her own separate entity. Also, if I remember correctly, Sam was the only witch on the show who did this. Her aunt and other family members did magic without a single nose wiggle so I was always under the impression it was uniquely hers. This made it even more weird that Cassie did it.
The story altogether was a great read. Fun, warm and sweet. I definitely recommend it. Even with the problems I had with it, it’s still an easy four stars. For me, however, the usual tropes and the nose nod to Bewitched were enough to take me out of the story as I read it, but not so much that I didn’t enjoy this magical tale.
In “Merry Little Wishing Spritz,” Cassie Moore doesn’t know what’s going to come of her crazy situation. You see, Cassie and her best friend, Peyton, are modern-day witches. Peyton has a dream foretelling that Cassie’s life will be turned upside down in which she’ll not only lose her job she loves at Lakeside Books, but also her apartment that her friend and boss, Bea, allows Cassie to stay in above the bookstore. Bea needs the money and her only option is to sell to Jack Quinn, a real estate investor, who already has plans on what to do with the waterfront property there in Mystic Creek, Massachusetts. With a little bit of magic cast on some Christmas cookies and a whole lot of charm, Cassie sets out to convince Bea not to sell. Does her plan work?
Ms. Colyer penned a charming and sweet story that made me feel as if I were part of the storyline, watching everything unfold before my eyes. I fell in love with her characters as if they were real-life people. I felt bad for Cassie because everything she knew and loved in her life was quickly falling apart before her eyes. I had hoped that whatever the final outcome was going to be, she would be okay with it and be able to bounce back quickly from it.
As the author introduced Jack to me, I didn’t know what to make of him at first. He seemed like a really nice guy and I loved that about him, but once I found out that he was the future owner of the property, I became very leery of his intentions. He didn’t seem to care that he would be displacing Cassie of not only her job but also her apartment that she loved dearly. I was torn between liking him and hating him for seeing this only as a business deal. Although I did understand that business was business and that there shouldn’t be any personal feelings involved. That was until he got to know Cassie better.
The author constructed a delightful storyline with exceptionally real characters. I eagerly kept turning the pages to see what happened next with them. Although I was rooting for Cassie to land on her feet quickly, I felt that Jack threw her a curveball by showing up at Mystic Creek. He had great qualities about him and I secretly had hoped that something would start up between them. Ms. Colyer didn’t disappoint me with her perfectly placed twists and turns throughout her story and the little bits and pieces of magic she wove into the storyline.
Overall, I loved this short Christmas story and would highly recommend it to readers of all ages because I feel there’s something for everyone to enjoy within this story. Well done, Ms. Colyer!
Merry Little Wishing Spritz by Cherie Colyer is a magical novella of a holiday read, perfect for those looking for a quick book to get them in the mood for the season. I’m a huge fan of the fantasy and paranormal genres, so I appreciated a romance with a paranormal twist that was grounded in a contemporary setting.
My favorite scene by far was the reindeer scene (I wish the author had included more like it)! The flirtations and the build up of tension between the main characters were fun, especially with the unexpected twist at the end of the story. I wasn’t as enamored by the scenes where Cassie was cursing Jack’s plans to get rid of the bookstore and venting to her best friend, as they ended up feeling very repetitive (especially for a novella). Peyton, Cassie’s best friend, is the primary side character in the story and her actions in this book painted her into a “fairy godmother” type role in my eyes. I would love to read any related side stories featuring Peyton as the main character - cameo features from Cassie and Jack would be a bonus!
This novella is part of The Wild Rose Press’ Christmas Cookies Collection, and the installments I’ve read so far have all been super fun! I would happily recommend these books to readers who are fans of Hallmark esque-stories with happily ever after endings and sweet romance.
Thank you to the author and Goddess Fish Promotions for allowing me to read an early copy of the book! I voluntarily read and reviewed Merry Little Wishing Spritz; all opinions expressed are my own and not influenced in any way.
