Multiple plots intertwine in the perfect A-Ha moments, as a new and fast unfolding series of mega-disasters blends the post-apocalyptic and military-thriller genres with frighteningly real story-telling! Perfect for Tom Clancy fans ! ★★★★★ Just finished reading "Spiritus Americae" and what a finish to the series by Austin Chambers! Through the Cascadia Fallen series Austin has drawn a realistic picture of what can and will eventually happen when the hammer falls. Being a resident on the Hood Canal, this series hits pretty close to home. The mental picture Austin draws in his book is just like the real thing here. This series is a must read and will keep you on the edge of your seat! — C.T. Anderson, Amazon Reviewer
Navy veteran Austin Chambers took an early retirement from a naval shipyard to grow veggies in his new raised garden beds. He hosts a video channel for emergency preparedness called crossed Cannons Readiness. He and his lovely bride of almost 29 years live in Washington State with an awesome mouser named Combat Kitty.
This trilogy bored me to tears. There is so little difference in all the characters involved, I quite often lost track of who's who and finally got sick of backtracking to find out what was going on. And Mr. Chambers is yet another Kindle author who gleefully details murders and rape, including a child being kidnapped to be raped by a sicko, yet has an extreme fear of using cuss words. It gets tiring reading this author's desire to use words like darn, heck, and butt rather than allow the characters to speak like normal human beings. Having prison-hardened bikers say crap over and over as they rape and pillage to their heart's content just defies logic. And the story just drags on and on...
No thanks. A very disappointing read that goes nowhere fast.
It took a bit to get interested but by the end I was completely addicted and couldn't put it down. I will say there were almost too many different characters/storylines making it harder to follow. I liked the follow through at the end!
But the story was good. Unfortunately it was also very complicated. It’s difficult to tie up so many story lines. I enjoyed the books but I believe it would have been better to have several books.
I liked that it was a different take on The End of The World As We Know It. A much more realistic and plausible way to show how Civilization can fall and fall quickly.
Anyone who has lived through a natural disaster like Hurricane Katrina, Sandy, or Harvey knows that people depend on the government, electricity, phones, etc. to fix the problems immediately. Also accurately shows, IMHO, how fast the criminal element can step in to take advantage of a bad situation.
