The allure that’s pulling Mia to one male is unlike anything she’s ever felt before...and yet there is something about Bash that Mia can’t put her finger on. There is more than just attraction there, with his devilish looks, the knowing wink in his dark eyes and dark vibes that crease your skin in the night.
Mia might be about to dance with the devil and perform her greatest act...even if she could fall and be trapped within his grasp.

Mia & Bash <3...These two certainly huff and puffed and blew out my expectations for this read! I went in blind only with the sense that something dark was going to be clinging to the edges of this book and I wasn’t wrong.
I loved the characters! The storyline had a constant mystery that was woven throughout and made for some very shocking secrets.
The tension, the hot steam and creativity that comes when you read this book is great. Makes for a perfect chilling, shocking, mystery and a very hot sexy read!

What in the hell did I just read??
Wow, my mind is just blown. First off this is Lilith's debut book and right out the gate, I was hooked. DEBUT BOOK! I mean how? How can this book be this damn good??
The writing was so smart. It was funny and sarcastic and Mia, Lacey, and Karen are just hilarious. The quick wit of these characters and their banter is just genius. These girls are on a ride of a lifetime here. They have no idea what they are getting themselves into. My mind was just consumed with unraveling these secrets and every time I thought I had it figured it BAM plot twist!
I was pulled into this dark and twisted story immediately and it never once let me go. I'm still wondering what the heck happened and what is coming next? Hidden agendas and secret mind juju powers had my mind spinning. I kept thinking what kind of circus is this?? It was epic! Bash and the boys are not your typical bad boys that's for sure and I need more of it. Everything out that man's mouth was just fire! He is possessive and controlling and he is fighting both the memories of his past and the demons he holds inside. It is such a beautiful mix.
This is only book one.... Let that sink in. The boys are coming back and the chaos is coming. You think you have it figured out? You have no idea.

This was such a good story! I couldn’t put it down! Mia and Bash’s love story is definitely unconventional but it’s perfect for them . This story had me questioning everything and nothing is as it seems I was completely engrossed from beginning till end this was such a wild ride I loved every crazy minute of it definitely a must read ! I can’t wait to see what else this new author has in store for us! Amazing debut!

Carnival Calamity is absolutely incredible. From the very beginning, I was pulled into the story and I didn’t want it to end! The emotions this book will wring from you are insane! It had me wanting to throw my kindle but read faster at the same time. You might think you have it figured out, but do you really? With these plot twists, you better think twice!

Wow! Amazing story - I’m still in shock from the bonus epilogue. I thought I had closure and now I’m not OK!
Mia and Sebastian’s love story is so unconventional, but so right for the two of them. I live for an alpha male with a hidden heart and Bash fits that to a T. (He’s added to my book boyfriends!)
Overall - ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️, I want to write a longer review but I know I’ll slip up and spoil the story. This book does have some triggering story lines, so read the trigger warning before jumping in. If you are OK with everything, buckle up for quite a ride. This book is never boring and will keep you enthralled start to finish. Things are never what they seem and you probably won’t be OK after the bonus epilogue (I’m definitely not).

This was such a satisfying read! It's been a long time since I've read a standalone! Almost forgot what a HEA feels like!! Well I say that, but then there's a teasing epilogue......!!
Mia is a 24yr old stripper disillusioned with life and people. She only trusts her 2 best friends, roomates, fellow strippers and closest thing she's ever had to family, Karen and Lacey.
When Lacey wins tickets to see Carnival Calamity including travel and accommodation she's too excited! With work giving them all a week off due to an impromptu makeover WITH pay, they decide to go.
Things get weird as soon as they get in the limo sent to collect them to take them to the Circus. They opened a bottle of champagne and not long after...blacked out....
...and woke up in an odd nursery with a strange little girl talking riddles.... Very kooky - creepy circus feels!!
They are collected by a gorgeous guy with face painted as a ghoul who says they're being magician assistants tonight but can watch the rest of the show... Mia has a strange itch on her arm and this guy tickles an odd familiarity that she can't pinpoint.
The show is adults only (and have to say, if there was one like this around, I think I'd like to see it!!) and while Karen and Lacey have shook off any eerie feelings, Mia can't seem to.
And they keep coming....
This is a great story to read. It's revealed that Mia is actually connected to the circus - her parents were hoop aerial acrobats who died tragically during a show, and despite efforts by her aunt she was put into foster care.
They actually want the girls to join them. Mia again, has hesitations, but Karen and Lacey are all for it! They have a week to decide before the carnival moves on so they try acts and getting to know the people.
Mia, naturally, gets put on the hoop and is a natural. Lacey and Karen both go with the ghosts who do ariel acrobats high in the air, finished with the "adults only" part, again, slotting in with the others seamlessly.
Mia's relationship with Bash is just so...delicious! I can't think of another word!! He's the gorgeous, very alpha male, with the mouth of many talents that only start with talking Spanish, talking dirty, and being able to talk most people into doing whatever he says.
And this is where the story truly begins! And where I won't say a peep what happens!!! Go in blind with this one! Anything else will give too much away and spoil the experience!!
I read this in one sitting. It was so easy to read. The characters were likeable - or detestable, depending on who it is!! It flows along at a great pace, no boring gaps or skim read moments - perfect spacing!
I DID say it was a HEA and it was for some parties....there's a little epilogue that we're sneakily left with, and omg this makes me definitely want to pick it up!!!! Hope we're not waiting too long!!!!

Carnival Calamity is Lilith Ruben's debut novel. It's a dark romance with a twist of suspense and a circus themed novel. Wow... just wow!! I read so many amazing debuts this year, but this one! I have no words! It blew my mind!! Loved reading Mia and Bash's story!! They are truly each others' match! Carnival Calamity has earned its place on my top 10 favorite reads of this year! The storyline is so intriguing and unique; I haven't read anything like this before! At first, I thought it was a paranormal romance; there were slight hints of this element, and this might lead you to question the events because it certainly happened to me. After all, the mind is (very) powerful, and sometimes it can trick you; things are never what they seem.
The story begins from the heroine Mia's perspective. Mia is a loving caring, sassy and resilient character. Life hasn't been easy for Mia; she works long hours at a club while trying to make ends meet. I don't want to give too many spoilers away, but basically, Mia and her two bestfriends are invited to a "circus". But this circus isn't an ordinary one: Carnival Calamity is an adult circus, where your deepest darkest desires (and nightmares) come out to play. Suddenly Mia and her bestfriends aren't spectators anymore; they are performers now. Mia can't put her finger on it; she has a sinking feeling and she can't seem to understand why she is feeling this way. Strange shady events are happening at this circus, and Mia is curious and a bit suspicious towards its residents. Especially towards a certain performer: the mysterious and dangerous villain/hero, Bash. Yes, Mia and Bash are attracted to each other, but what they have is so much more: a strong magnetic connection between them. Hence, Mia couldn't comprehend why she felt such strong feelings for a person she barely knew, a complete stranger. Yet it feels so right.
Lilith Ruben's storytelling skills are extraordinary! All my senses were heightened: the setting and events were vividly detailed; it was a sensational experience. And it was a never ending guessing game; the suspense kept me on edge throughout the book! But the bonus epilogue!!! I was literally screaming!! It caught me off guard! There are certain triggers, which might unsettling for some readers to read. Please do check them if/when you do pick up this read. Other than that buckle up, because you will be on one hell of a wild ride!!

Step inside if you dare but be warned things are not as they appear, demons lurk in the dark, danger at every corner, but living life on the edge can be freeing. My mind is utterly blown away with this book!!! I honestly thought it was going to be a paranormal romance but no it was so much more. This book takes dark and twisted with suspense for a run, it has triggers but it was fun, intense, and kept me holding my breathe waiting to see what was really going on. I don’t want to spoil this for anyone because it is truly an adventure with steamy moments and intense mysterious ways. I will say it was beautifully done and fun to read. Mia and Bash are pure perfection with all the secrets when they come to light will they make it through or are they doomed from the start? I really want to write more and could go on about how amazing this book really is but like I said (in my River Song voice..) Spoilers!!! I will say this book will take you on a wild ride that you will enjoy every second of and that second epilogue will have you craving for more. I truly hope we get more stories from this group because I’m dying to see how it all goes.

This book caught me by surprise - it drew me with the mysterious blurb and this ended up being one of the best stories I have read in a while.
I love Mia - this young woman got dealt a rough hand after an accident took her parents. But she grew up with fire in her veins and survived. She is blunt, honest, funny, and strong.
Bash is everything dark and mysterious - I absolutely melted when he went all alpha male possessive over Mia.
These two together is like throwing kerosene on a fire, their chemistry and draw to one another is just drool-worthy. I love how Mia gave as good as she got and wouldn’t back down. These two prove that love is truly written in the stars.
Lilith floored me with this story. I couldn’t stop turning the pages between the twists and surprises. I was on the edge of my seat from the suspense, especially when truths were revealed and the villains were exposed and I loved every single flipping word. I can’t believe this is her first book she has written, because this has the air of someone who has written for ages and after reading the extended epilogue I am ecstatic to see if this was just a stand alone…I definitely need more.

Original and good read
I had no idea what to expect going in to this book and I was pleasantly surprised with how things unfolded.
We were thrown right into the story and introduced to our FMC and her two friends. From there it’s a whirlwind and they somehow end up at the Carnival Calamity. As the plot thickens and mysteries come to light, emotions are high and we’re further dragged in to the thick of it.
I was trying to figure out who the real villain was and what exactly was happening. We discover what’s happening as the main characters do and although we learn the motives there are a few curveballs thrown. I loved the little twists and turns and the very short bonus epilogue at the end… I don’t know what to think. I need answers.

This is Lilith's debut novel and she knocked it out of the park. I was hooked from the very beginning and couldn't wait to see what was going to happen next. I really enjoyed the relationship between Bash and Mia. It was messy but their chemistry was off the charts!
Without giving anything away, I just have to say the bonus epilogue has me begging for book two to be announced.
I would highly recommend this book if you like dark romances or romantic suspense.

I saw this cover scrolling through Instagram and what an exciting debut novel for a new author! The twists, turns, deceit, romance, and hidden secrets, never left an option to set this book down until the very end! When I tell you this book grasped my mind right from the beginning, the events that transpired within these pages, left me with a lot of wtf moments and complete utter shock.

What an explosive connection!! Mia and Bash were joined from the beginning, and automatically connected upon meeting again. The pull Mia experiences with Bash, an attraction she can’t explain, with his wolffish smirk and devilish grin, had me panting with excitement. Their chemistry definitely blew my expectations away with so much steam and passion, making for a chilling, intimate read and complete satisfaction!! And wtf was that bonus epilogue?! Hoping for great things to come with future releases!

What in the ever loving fuck did I just read?! Holy fucking shit! This was amazing. The twists and turns in this book just kept coming. You barely recover from one before the next one blows you out of the fucking waters! I'm still having a hard time processing what I just read...
Mia was freaking amazing. She's not taking crap from anybody. So it was kind of amazing to me the instant attraction she had for Bash even with all the suspicion she had of him surrounding their meeting and everything that happened after it.
Bash is just the right amount of psycho. I loved him. The Hulk smash and me Tarzan you Jane was absolutely perfect and sums up Bash perfectly. I loved how strong he was and how vulnerable he was when it came to Mia. When Mia came up missing I loved that he was ready to burn the world down to find her and how he was losing his shit because of it.
Now that bonus epilogue.... I have so many questions! I need answers! There better be another book coming! Holy shit it can't end like that!

Lilith has blown my mind with the amazing, enthralling, dark, manipulate world she has created in Carnival Calamity. The world building is nothing short of fantastical especially the performances, the detail and depth brings the words to life.
Mia is in many ways a lost soul living a half life through circumstance alone. She has made the best out of her lot and along with her found family yet she is haunted by dreams that call to her heart and soul. One night changes everything, her soul comes to life and she questions if her dreams are really that as she drowns in familiarity in a new enticing, twisted world.
Bash has a broken heart and a soul blacker than obsidian, he was trained by the master manipulator himself. When the past becomes the present and the one shattered pieces of his heart start to rebuild the only thing standing in his way of love is himself.
The instant connection with Mia and Bash is palpable, I draws you into their push and pull like your stuck between the opposing ends of a magnet. The growth, pain, suffering they have to endure to grow is immense but is that enough for their love to come to fruition?
How many sacrifices will be made before the suffering ends? This world will draw you in tantalise you with provocative depravity and make you believe in a greater power but everyone wears a mask, nothing and no one is who they truly seem.... the question is will the darkness and Secrets that surround carnival Calamity destroy you or will love conquer all.
I could not put this down, I loved every part of Mia and Bash's story but that extended epilogue had my heart eascping from my body.

Ma’am okay I need to organize my thoughts and feelings because this bad boy was absolutely nothing like I was expecting and everything I didn’t know I needed in my life! Question everything! Mia and Bash are everything and while their love story is in no way traditional it fits them to perfection. The author had me captive from the very beginning and I had to finish this book in one sitting there was not way to put it down because I had to know what happened next. This is one of those stories that will have you questioning everything…. There is so so much more I would love to say but I can’t because I know I would end up just giving you all the freaking tea because I want to scream from the roof top how amazing this story is. Absolutely a MUST READ!!!

Absolutely amazing debut novel! I’m stunned and in love with this world & these characters! This story is so unique and well thought up & written, I could not put it down!! So there is so much suspense, and I had loads of tension trying to work through what the hell was going on. It was fantastic! There are so many secretive things going on, and it all seems to be centered on Mia and her childhood. The dreams she has, the secrets whispered, people who look at her as if they know her, and the familiarity to everything around her. The build up with this one is so damn good! The story just flows well and the pages keep turning faster and faster!
I would recommend this book to those that love a good eerie suspense with loads of WTF!! One click it now!

This book was amazing ! Wow ! The twists and turns ! Omg this def was the circus ! I loved the plot line and the characters ! All of them ! The shocks at the end kept you hanging on and guessing for more . The little red riding hood snippets were sexy and def added to the story line . The heroine was smart and independent and she didn’t give in easily … well unless she was persuaded! The romantic happily ever after that came from this was so good . It made the whole book come full circle . I would def recommend this book ! Five out of five stars for me !

Holy F#€k!!! This is definitely one of the best carnival/circus books that I've read this year! I was hooked from page one. The mystery to be solved, the danger and the steam. All the elements of this book combine seamlessly to form a fantabulous read that you just HAVE to finish to know how it ends. You NEED this book in your life.

Holy crap this book was amazing!!! I love the circus so to get to read about one and the FMC being from one and then being welcomed back was thrilling. Bash and his Run...was epic, I love that twist in it and having her friends there with her was great. I love how she turned into their protector while with them and how she is gaurding herself but also being open to the idea of joining all at the same time.

Passion, angst, and a good old kidnapping. Alot of my favorite elements are in this single book. A well written story of a lost soul in a girl named Mia. Or Red, as she is affectionately called by Bash. Her life of dancing on the pole changes to working a mysterious carnival. Adult only carnival.
Bash and Mia have a vulnerable romance. Intruders poor in, secret and hiding. Betrayals will test them, friends, and family.
Twists and turns create a wonderful plot.
"Typical circus acts, clowns, trapezes , fire eaters… The people performing are wearing a variety of weird and wonderful clothes, and most of them have their faces painted one way or another. It’s creepy. The creepy music stops as the words “Carnival Calamity” spread across the black screen in blood, drops falling off the bottom of the letters."

Absolutely devoured this book! I literally had to keep reading till it was finished.

This. Freaking. Book! So So good! Full of mystery, suspense, chills, thrills, twists, turns, a few surprises (that bonus epilogue, what the what?!?) and a whole lot of alpha bad boy sexiness that is Bash! He is now top favorite book boyfriend of all time! From the beginning, the story is so intriguing, you just get sucked in and cannot put it down. I wish I could give more than 5 stars! Have you ever wanted to run away and join the circus? After a rather interesting night at the Carnival Calamity, that’s exactly what Mia, Karen and Lacey did, in a classic case of girl being led by her lady bits.
But, let’s start at the beginning. Our protagonist, Mia, is both an orphan and a stripper. After the club in which they work is closed for renovations, she and her friends decide to visit the circus. Thanks to a mysterious turn of events, they win a competition for free tickets including a hotel suite, and a limo to the big event. But all isn’t as it seems in the circus, and they are dragged into its spectacle.
Despite a little protestation from Mia, all three capitulate to the circus’ games far too easily. After having been drugged in the limo and coerced into joining the performance, any normal person would be running for the hills. Instead, after sleeping with the main men and realising Mia has a connection to the circus (no spoilers as to what) they easily decide to stay and join the show.
When you learn about Bash’s talent for influencing the mind, Karen and Lacey’s reaction is understandable. Mia, however, is supposedly immune yet she still agrees to go along with the plan despite her reservations. In fact, Mia tends to ignore her intuition quite a lot, which seems to bring more and more trouble to their little gang.
The steam levels between Mia and Bash are off the charts. In fact, despite Karen and Lacey dropping their knickers on their first night with the circus, it takes nearly half the book for the leading pair to get any action. Normally I’d be offended by such a wait but it was so well written that it was actually a treat. You knew that when they finally made it to the main event, it would be worth the tension. I was not disappointed!
Lilith Rubeum writes in a very relatable manner, delivering moments that will make you laugh and references to current culture that are perfectly on point. The premise of the story is inventive, and not something that’s been trotted out a thousand times before. It’s not a terribly dark book although it does have its moments and some scenes with a dark and creepy vibe. There are plenty of discoveries to be made and mysteries to be solved.

At first this book gave me Amo Jones, Midnight Mayhem vibes. Then it went in a totally different route.
So many twist and turns that I didn't see coming. Great story & characters (but I wish Freya had to face some consequences for her actions).

Phenomenal Story!
WOW! This was an absolutely phenomenal debut story that blew my mind and had me hooked right from the very beginning. I could not put this one down and then to be given a bonus epilogue at the end – DAMN - I am now anxiously waiting for book 2 as I need all the answers. This was a twisty rollercoaster ride that I never wanted to end.
The story is slightly dark, thrilling, twisted, a little depraved, suspenseful, sexy and extremely entertaining. Mia and Sebastian have this whirlwind love story that is really intense. Their connection is fierce and strong right from the very first time they lock eyes. And their chemistry – EXPLOSIVE – it had my toes curling and my panties melting. Really well written debut story that is intriguing, captivating and highly entertaining. The characters are complex, damaged and some are hiding incredible secrets that don’t yet get revealed. The storyline is filled with suspenseful twists and turns that keep you guessing at every turn of the page and then leaving you begging for more by the end.
I absolutely loved it. Highly recommend.
WOW! This was an absolutely phenomenal debut story that blew my mind and had me hooked right from the very beginning. I could not put this one down and then to be given a bonus epilogue at the end – DAMN - I am now anxiously waiting for book 2 as I need all the answers. This was a twisty rollercoaster ride that I never wanted to end.
The story is slightly dark, thrilling, twisted, a little depraved, suspenseful, sexy and extremely entertaining. Mia and Sebastian have this whirlwind love story that is really intense. Their connection is fierce and strong right from the very first time they lock eyes. And their chemistry – EXPLOSIVE – it had my toes curling and my panties melting. This was Abso-freakin-lutely a fantastic story from start to finish and that Bonus Epilogue I just knew it haha. This is so hard to believe that this is a debut book for this arthur. It was so good. This book was so full of secrets and lies you didn't know who was telling the truth least poor Mia and myself didn't. After her parents death 3 yr old Mia had been shuffled from one foster home to another not having the best life until she'd had enough and decided to take care of herself at the age of 16 and finds herself working at a stripper bar called Luckey's for the next 7 yrs where one night she meets a tall, dark and dangerous Bash that she feels drawn to little does she know her world is about to change. There's so much that happens in this book that I don't want to spoil it all I want to say you just need to read it and get strapped in for the wild ride you'll literally be taken on my mind is still trying to wrap itself around this story.
This story does have triggers in it so you might want to skip it. If your like me and you love those dark crazy stories that come with trigger warning strap in then. I can't wait to read what this arthur has next.
