What I liked: My favorite aspect of this book is some of the science around fueling your body for sport. The author does a great job describing nutrition, as well as the importance of sleep for athletes. This book breaks down everything from vitamins to hydration for female athletes.

What I didn't like: The author does have a section on eating disorders and disordered eating in sports, which I really appreciate; however, there is some language and tips in this book that I think might not be the best message for young athletes. I thought that some of the sections, like fighting food triggers, might be triggering to some and encourage focusing on external vs internal cues for hunger.

As I have worked with disordered eating/eating disorders, I am more sensitive to this than most, but I would encourage the reader to be mindful of their own relationship with food when deciding if they should pick this book up or not!

Finally a book that focuses on women’s health, training, nutrition, performance, for any sport or discipline. This book has helped me maximize my knowledge to enhance my training and nutritional plan. From a retired athlete who’s now staying active on a daily basis, I wish I would’ve read this when I was younger. Especially the chapter about disordered eating. I think my younger self would’ve find this very useful. Loved it!

Lots of good information. It’s well past time people focus on the specifics of women’s health & nutrition.
