Enjoyable again

I'm looking forward to the next book. Usually don't go for books with the...more graphic scenes this series has at a few points. I'm fine with it though because I want to know the story and continue seeing how it plays out. Very enjoyable world the author has created.

Introduction:
Greetings, fellow beings of HowlStrom. I am Kiba Snowpaw, a Furry male Ice Wolf with the power of ice magic, hailing from our icy realm. Having spent over 36 years in our world, gaming and exploring the vast landscapes, I've come across many tales. Today, I bring forth my thoughts on "Rise of the Weakest Summoner: Volume II" by J.R. Saileri.

Hook and Thesis:
In a world where summoning is an art, and bonds are the essence of power, Asterios and Miria's journey is one that resonates with the heartbeats of every creature, furry or not. This tale is not just about summoning; it's about finding one's place in a vast universe, understanding the depths of bonds, and the strength that lies in being the 'weakest'.

Basic Plot Summary:
After a daring rescue inside a treacherous dungeon, Asterios and Miria set forth on a quest to perform a summoning ritual. Their hope? To find a fitting member for their party. But as with all adventures, challenges arise, some even linked to Asterios's own lineage. The duo, or perhaps soon-to-be trio, face trials, dungeons, and revelations about Asterios's unique power.

Analysis/Evaluation:
Saileri's narrative is a masterful blend of fantasy elements with the intricate details of summoning rituals, making it a treat for readers who appreciate depth in world-building. The story's pace is well-balanced, ensuring readers are neither overwhelmed nor left wanting.

Characters:

Asterios: A summoner with a mysterious power, his journey of self-discovery is both heartwarming and thrilling. His character development, from a novice to someone who commands respect, is commendable.

Miria: More than just a sidekick, her bond with Asterios is the heart of the story. Their interactions provide both comedic relief and emotional depth.

Structure:
The narrative structure is well-organized, with each chapter flowing seamlessly into the next. Flashbacks are used effectively, providing valuable insights into the characters' pasts without disrupting the story's flow.

Impact:
For a furry like me, the bonds depicted in the story, especially between Asterios and his summons, resonate deeply. It's a reminder of the connections we share with our kin in HowlStrom.

Praise and Critique:
The world-building is impeccable, and the character dynamics are beautifully portrayed. However, I felt that certain aspects of the harem genre overshadowed the core essence of the story at times. A little more focus on the summoning rituals and less on the romantic entanglements would elevate the narrative.

Comparison:
While many stories delve into the realm of magic and summoning, "Rise of the Weakest Summoner" stands out due to its unique take on bonds and relationships. It's reminiscent of classic tales from our world, but with a fresh perspective.

Conclusion:
"Rise of the Weakest Summoner: Volume II" is a tale that will stay with you long after you've turned the last page. It's a journey of discovery, bonds, and the true meaning of strength. As an Ice Wolf from HowlStrom, I can attest to the power of bonds, and this story captures that essence beautifully. I eagerly await the next volume and the continuation of Asterios and Miria's journey.

superb

I am loving this series more and more. Ast is really making a name for himself…. It only as a summoner, but as a man. More people are coming to respect him and see that he’s truly an asset. Also, with all the missions he’s handled and their difficulties you’d think he’d get ranked up…the thing that shocked me the most is the relationship with Selene… I wonder where that’s going? 🤔 also, Grea was a pure hoot. That woman is a riot, I hope we see more of her. Roz’s sister was really cool, I’m so happy she spoke up. That whole scenario was awesome… that poor earth sprite was sweatin’ 🤣😅. The world building continues to expand and there have been some twists and turns… I love Rudy, that woman had me laughing, especially around the dwarf 😂 I’m kind of wondering how things will progress with Selene… that’s the slowest burn ever…. She has dropped hints and even mentioned things to herself especially commenting on how her body responded but she hasn’t truly expressed want nor need to ast… maybe in the next book? Also I’m hoping miria and ast relationship progress a little bit more as well. He still treats her like a pet with benefits while she’s Uber shy. I dunno, I think maybe it’s because their beast Kim he just always wants to pet and caress her. Onward, lads!

Disappointing.

I'm thinking the lack of lower star reviews on this book is an indicator that people reading the first book who were turned off likely made the correct judgement. The first book is certainly flawed but IMO shows some potential. In the second book the plot basically ignores any of that potential and sticks to cliché after cliché. There are ways to take a standard / clichéd situation and freshen it up or at least provide additional in world reasons why things have to play out in a certain way, but I didn't feel any of that. Instead we end up with a protagonist who is basically never wrong and always does/says the correct thing. It's not even played up for laughs which could have been an option. In the end it's boring and no number of cute head pat descriptions can rescue it from that.

Another quick review coming to you from the Coin Cage of Love, seeing as the marathon is still going. We started writing this throughout the story as it was pretty dull from start to finish. This story found some rails and those rails were generic Shonen anime plots.

The break we took had nothing to do with the book I'm afraid. We did enjoy a nice lunch though.

We did get to experience the most unbelievable part of this story after lunch, where the main character commits at least six various crimes against a very powerful family with absolutely no repercussions whatsoever.

We would stop at this one and go to another, but the bosses are not done with this marathon yet, so I guess it's on to the third one.

Note from the Council of the Coin Cage:
We are only giving this 2 stars because we cannot give half stars. Thank you for your understanding.

Uhhhhh…..just….wow?

Not quite what I expected from a harem series, but having said that, this is a REALLY good yarn - TOTALLY enjoying the storytelling skills of Author Saileri. ‘Slow-burn’ to be sure, but a rich and varied storyline keep one’s interest piqued from first page to last. Apologies, Author Saileri - I tried this series as a “throwaway” while I awaited new installments from other authors I follow. Now, those will just have to wait while I splurge to gobble up all the available installments of Rise of the Weakest Summoner. Just….oh, he**, I don’t even know how to best describe it, other than to simply say I LIKE this series. A lot. GREAT job, and will be an avid follower of this story to the conclusion.

A very enjoyable story continues

I really enjoyed the second book in the series had a lot to it and had a lot of interesting times. For me the story flows and it's not like reading a book it's like seeing a movie in my mind's eye. I like the way the characters are portrayed and they all have different personalities and it's interesting to see how they react in certain situations. The story has excitement it also has drama and it also has a little bit of sexy times as well but mostly it's a very well told story. I hope to read a third book would like to find out what happens next in the life of Asti, the main character.

How to work with each other during a fight or training getting ready to delve into a dungeon he heard about to train to they fullest the only way to do it was to fight monsters in a life an death situation . And if possible collect some monster cores to sell for money to off set for expenses for food and supplies . recommend reading excellent series .

A good sequel

I am enjoying this series a lot, very Japanese light novel like but without avoiding intimate relations (one chapter which can be skipped). The MC seems to be heading towards a harem so if you are not ok with that probability you should probably stop here. This book has a new summon, dungeon diving and battles, and plenty of character interactions to keep you entertained. This series a lot of fun and hard to put down once it grabs you. On to book 3!

Continuing to enjoy this series for what it is to me: a casual romp into a fantasy setting with some cliche harem/romance elements.
The story has started to get a bit more exciting as the character’s scope of the world has expanded. I’m looking forward to reading volume 3.

I appreciate again that the intimacy/romance chapter is clearly mentioned at the start of the book and labelled when you arrive at that chapter.

Further Adventures of the weakest summoner

Enjoyed the 2nd book much more than the first one, altho to be fair I am starting to find the panther girl to be annoying lol. The new fox spirit is awesome, kind of wish she was first as she’s a cool beauty and the panther is way too clingy. And this book has one of the best characters in the demon teacher lady. She was a hoot! Am looking forward to what the next book brings!

Great second novel

This series is one of my favorites in the genre, I love the characters and their interaction. The author has really fleshed out the motivations and feelings of the summoner and his summons. The MC is smart and capable, which is unusual for this genre and quite refreshing.

This is a good one.

I really enjoyed reading this book. It started a little slow, but once it picked up, I could barely put it down. The story and characters were interesting and engaging. I hope there is a lot more to this series in the future. I'm looking forward to reading the next installment when it's available. This book is definitely worth reading.

Good fun

This book explores dungeons and of course new summons. Getting stronger and more summons is important. Almost as important as answers. Asterios is doing it all.. In style as well. He never does anything by half measure so.... I enjoy this series and hope is is long and fruitful.

Cringe

It was cute at first, but honestly the whole thing with Miria being super awkward and jealous is cringe. She isn’t even jealous all the time, just at random intervals when the author thinks it would be cute… it isn’t.

The story is interesting so far, but the teenage drama isn’t. It’s starting to feel like an awkward tweenager show on the CW.

This is a simple example of continuing as you started.

Now that the characters are fleshed out and their idiosyncrasies are established, this has really hit its stride. This is just fun to read and I can not wait for more.

fun read

Just an easy fun read with interesting take on summoning. I never really explored summoning before and find myself fascinated by the concept. The characters sparkle with life and have all of the idiosyncrasies of all sentient beings.

It’s a cute fun story done that is a great distraction.

It’s a cute fun story done that is a great distraction. Done in web novel style it presents in a little slice of life style as well. World building is steady but not overburdened.

Story keeps getting better

The story keeps getting better though I wish we had a few more missions.

Only complaint is the author uses words like 'uhuhuhuh' I have no idea what that's supposed to convey.

Summoning Beauties

The Weakest Summoner is getting stronger while increasing his Harem. His summons' are powerful themselves, but with his help through their connection they are more.
The fights are fun and the sex is too.

4.5 / I give reviews based on how much I enjoy the book and how much I am captivated by the story. Even though this is not the first type of book I've read like this, it still held my interest because of the characters being well written. Tropes or not they are fun
