Eden Butler is a writer of contemporary, fantasy, and romantic suspense novels and the nine-times great-granddaughter of an honest-to-God English pirate. This could explain her affinity for rule breaking and rum.
When she's not writing or wondering about her possibly Jack Sparrowesque ancestor, Eden patiently waits for her Hogwarts letter, reads, and spends too much time in her garden perfecting her green thumb while waiting for the next New Orleans Saints Super Bowl win.
She is currently living under teenage rule alongside her husband in southeast Louisiana.
There’s a lot of readers that will say this book stands on its own just fine, but no, it really doesn’t. If all you’re interested in is reading a mafia romance between two people, then yes, maybe this stands on its own, but the series isn’t called a saga for nothing. There’s a mafia family arc in this series that flows from one book into the other and I just don’t see how you can truly appreciate the story without starting from the beginning. Do with that tidbit what you will :)
I’m a ridiculously avid reader and for my own enjoyment, I had to go back and speed read/ skim the first two books before I stared Dante so I could have all key elements and circumstances surrounding the Carelli family fresh in my mind. I normally don’t have to do this but it’s been a long minute since I was in this world and honestly, I was drawing quite a few blanks when I thought about the family.
Those are my reasons for letting anyone reading this review know they should probably start at the beginning of this series if they want to truly understand not just this world that Eden has created, but also the Carelli family as a whole.
Now, about Dante … I found their story to be very engaging and it sucked me into reading in one sitting/evening. The ending wasn’t exactly a neat little box all wrapped up with a bow, but as I mentioned earlier, that is rarely the case is these types of stories. The ending left a whole lot of things up in the air and also raised a few questions in my mind but I’m not worried because there’ll be a next book which I am sure will put all of it together or at least some LOL There’s a lot of rebuilding that has to transpire between Kat and Dante from their traumatic past in the midst of the present day turmoil so the story is definitely action packed and full of secrets and manipulations. Their romance rebuild had a good pacing and best of all, so did their friendship rebuilding. I am really happy with how this story turned out and I am really looking forward to reading a lot more from this family!
This was a really fun read. I absolutely love Kat and Dante. Their chemistry was amazing, I loved the history they had, and don't even get me started on the banter and tension🫠
"All I felt was Dante's mouth on mine and the strength in his touch, how he took over the kiss, how everything he seemed to feel got redirected in the movement of his lips and tongue as he kissed me"
I only have two cons. The first being, I was slightly confused at the beginning. I'm fairly certain that's because Dante is the third book in a series of standalones and I didn't read the the first two... But still, I had a great time reading, so I wouldn't say it's necessary to read the other two first.
Second con is the ending! Again, this might have something to do with the fact that it's a series of standalones, and so the story might "continue on" in the next book. It just felt like it ended kind of abruptly.
If you like friends to lovers with a bit of mafia thrown in, books where the guy has to win over the girl, fast pacing, and delicious tension, then you'll enjoy this.
Dante and Kat have been best friends since babies, crib besties, this has been such a nice read, I received an ARC and I demolished the book in a day. Dante is so sweet to Kat and I love that he calls her Kitten. But she doesn’t take shit from him either. She is a strong FMC, with a very swoon worthy MMC. This book has a little bit of everything you could need in a book, romance, suspense, mystery, angst, misunderstanding. I cannot wait to read the next book I need to know what happens next. 🥰
I absolutely devoured this book! Dante is a captivating, fast paced, childhood friends-to-lovers romance with mafia undertones, edge-of-your-seat suspense, and interesting characters.
Dante is a part of the Carelli Family and landed himself into trouble a few years back. This affected the close-knit friendship that he had with Kat. Needless to say, this dashing, scrumptious man has to wiggle his way back into her good graces. As for Kat, can I just say that I love the fact she is a skillful hacker? With secrets and trust issues, can these two work together? Can they repair their relationship?
This is a quick read that kept me engaged from beginning to end. There are some moments of humor along with delicious tension between Dante and Kat. There was a fair amount of suspense and even action which kept me on my toes. Dante is Book 3 of the Carelli Family Saga Series where each novel features one member of the Carelli family. Having only read the first book in the series prior to reading Dante (somehow I missed Dario’s book!), I was able to easily follow along and would say it could be a standalone. That being said, with an overarching storyline occurring throughout the series, there is a cliffhanger and it made it seem like the book ended rather abruptly. Nonetheless, I really enjoyed the novel and I cannot wait for the next book in the series!
I read an early version of this manuscript and I voluntarily leave this honest review. All thoughts and opinions are entirely my own.
Thank you so much to the author for sharing an ARC copy of this book with me!!!
Trigger warnings: violence, death, mention of racism, mafia dynamics
“If you’re thinking you’re gonna get your best friend back if she decides to come home, you’re gonna be disappointed”
I really enjoyed this book. A short mafia romance story (third in a series but it could technically be read as a standalone) where brothers and sisters in an italian family find their own HEA … kind of. With a best friends to enemies to lovers dynamic, Kat and Dante’s relationship was good to get through and their romance spicy !!!! Dante has a complete mouth of his own and he delivers !!!! A bit possessive you may say … definitely but it came from both characters and you won’t hear me complain !!! Definitely a fast paced action you can read anytime you won’t. I would recommend to read the other books too, even just to get a general sense of the Carelli family and the characters’ background. Overall it was really a good book and I’m glad I had the chance to read it !!
“You’re mine just the same as I’m yours. We won’t ever be done with each other.”
Friends to lovers full of second chances. MC’s Dante and Kat have so much chemistry and we love a take no sh*t girl. This is the 3rd book in the Carelli Family Saga (recommend reading Smoke and Dario first for world building). It has a lot of suspense and lands on a cliff hanger. Can’t wait to read the 4th book for conclusions!
3.75stars—DANTE is the third instalment in Eden Butler’s contemporary adult CARELLI FAMILY SAGA erotic, Mafia, romance series. This is Dante Carelli, and Kat Harrell’s story line. DANTE can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty but I recommend reading the series in order for back story and cohesion.
Told from dual first person perspectives (Dante and Kat) DANTE follows the best friends to enemies to lovers relationship between Dante Carelli, and Kat Harrell. Dante and Kat were childhood best friends. Kat is an IT genius, and Dante learned his skills from the woman he loved but five years earlier, life and betrayal sent Dante into hiding, leaving a heart broken and angry Kat behind. Fast forward to present day, Dante and Kat have returned to the scene of the crime, working for the Carelli Family in a war with the Irish mob but all does not go according to plan when another perceived betrayal finds Dante and Kat on the run knowing when the truth is revealed life and family will never be the same. What ensues is the second chance relationship between Dante and Kat, and the fall-out as the war with the Irish destroys family, friendships, relationships and trust.
The relationship between Dante and Kat is a childhood best friend to enemies to lovers in which Kat struggles to trust the man she once loved.Betrayal, deceit, secrets and lies pulled Dante and Kat apart, a common enemy threatens to destroy them again. The $ex scenes are intimate and passionate without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text.
The secondary and supporting characters include Dimitri ‘Smoke’ Carelli and Maggie Ramirez, Dario Carelli and Ava Anderson, Luca DeRosa, and Toni Carelli; their cousin Johnny, family associate and guard Dino.
DANTE is a story of secrets and lies, power and control, betrayal and vengeance, forgiveness and love. The fast paced premise intriguing and engaging; the romance is provocative ; the characters are determined and dynamic. DANTE ends on a bit of a cliff hanger-you have been warned.
Book #3 in Eden Butler's engrossing Carelli Family Saga, DANTE, is the story of Dante Carelli and Kat Harrell. It is a friends to enemies to lovers journey involving secrets, lies, power struggles, betrayal, forgiveness, and of course love. It is a riveting, passionate, and intense read.
Dante and Kat were one the best of friends until five years ago when betrayal sent Dante into hiding, leaving behind a heartbroken and enraged Kat. It's now present day and both have returned to the Carelli family 'business', one that is currently at war with the Irish. After what seems to be another betrayal, Dante and Kat find themselves on the run. But everything is not as it seems. Forced into a close proximity situation, will Dante be able to repair the relationship he once had with Kat? Can she trust her heart to him once again?
I adored Dante and Kat. He was delicious, totally swoonworthy, and extremely sweet with Kat. She was amazing, a strong woman who knew how to stand up for herself, but she was not going to be easily swayed. While their romance progresses so too does the storyline from the previous book, Smoke and Dario, although this book can be read as a standalone.
DANTE concludes on a minor cliffhanger, so I cannot wait to read the next book. Overall, DANTE was a wonderful, suspenseful, and entertaining read.
Having read Ms.Butler's work a couple of times before i've been wanting to get into more of her books! As soon as i stumbled across the announcement for this one, i knew i had to pick it up next! I started reading it and got right into The Carelli Family Saga world! I so enjoyed this story!
Dante and Kat's journey captured my attention right from the get go! Dante and Kat have known each other since they were kids and are friends, up until circumstances take Dante away. Now time has passed and Dante and Kat's worlds collide again. Can these two face everything together and then go their separate ways? or can being around one another prove that the more between them is worth fighting for?
I really liked how quickly i got into Dante and Kat's story, how they had history, and the way they were brought back into each other's lives. I wasn't sure how everything would play out and i enjoyed the way this story kept me wondering what all was going to happen next. Both Kat and Dante had me feeling many things throughout! I loved that Kat was a hacker. I didn't know how they'd tackle everything thrown their way, the past / present, and their feelings which got me into it even more.
With Dante, Ms.Butler has created such a good and different kind of mafia read that kept me turning the pages! I am so looking forward to the fourth installment, Antonia!
*I volunteered to read and review a copy of this book from Wildfire Marketing Solutions / the author*
This couple have history and best friends since the crib but, something went wrong and they had a falling out but, Dante will do anything to have back all he has lost and he wants not only his vest friend back but, they woman he loves.
In this story things heated up the family is at war and are doing everything they can to protect their family and those of their town. Secrets are starting to come to life.
Dante and Kat work together to save the people they love. Things heat up between them and there was no turning back she his Dante's for life. These men like Dante or all alpha and protective and will even give their lives for the woman they protect. Dante is full of secrets and if he wants to keep Kat he is going to have to spill those secrets that he has kept for decades.
Loved the chemistry between Kat and Dante as they are a lot like. They love hard and fight harder. Kat was a kick*** character. This couple has a lot in common and we loved them together.
Overall a face paced read that made you smile and laugh. The characters are awesome and Dante's family is the bomb. The ribbing the teasing the fighting and the love is awesome to see. Their mom is the top dog no matter his age he is still afraid of mom yet she is the most compassionate woman on earth. Loved it.
Secrets and planning are done! Now it's time to save them all...
I've loved every book in The Carelli Family Saga, and Dante is no exception. All three books are standalones, but it's so much better to read them in order anyway. Dante & Kat have been best friends all of their lives until Dante found himself in hot water a few years ago, and the fallout broke Kat's heart. Of course there's a lot more going on behind the scenes since the mafia is involved. These days he's back, and he has an uphill battle with his bestie because she's not one to take anything from anyone. I have to say there's nothing better to me when a heroine can go toe to toe with anyone, especially in this world. As he worms his way back in, the sparks are flying, and maybe just maybe they move the friendship to lovers. There are still people out their set on keeping them apart among other criminal things, and it provided the twists coming in hot, and keeping me on the edge of my seat. It leads to a cliffhanger(ish) ending, so I cannot wait for the next book! HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND!
This was my first time reading anything f/Eden, so I didn’t know if I’d feel lost w/out prior reading the other books. I definitely plan to go back & read books 1 & 2, so I know exactly what’s happening. But it wasn’t bad at all to follow along. One decision 5 years ago cost Dante everything, including his lifelong best friend & love Kat. He was sent away & took secrets w/him. Now w/threats against his family, his family needs him to come back to fight w/them against a war that’s coming. Dante is still determined to keep Kat f/finding out the truth, but he also wants the forgiveness f/the one woman that ever mattered to him. He’s still holding a lot of secrets, ones he’s afraid could destroy everyone he loved. This was a quick read, & was over way quicker than I wanted it to be! It ended right when things were getting good & I can’t wait to read book 4, Toni & Luca’s story! And to get some more answers.
So Dante is the very first mafia romance that I have read since getting back into reading last year, so I really started reading this book not knowing what to expect. It was more of a slower start compared to the books that I’ve read before but once I was hooked, there was no going back.
I liked the banter between characters, but what I loved more was the fact that it was friends to lovers. I loved the whole “Don’t mess with my family” vibe and the fact that they’d do anything for the ones that they loved. The twist at the end had me wanting to read another chapter IMMEDIATELY because I wanted the story to continue.
As for spice, it didn’t really have any in it until the second half of the book. Even then it was only a couple of scenes that didn’t get too explicit.
If you’re thinking about jumping into Mafia Romances I think this series could be a good start for some!
-I did receive this book as an ARC in exchange for an honest review -
First, I’m very thankful for having the opportunity to receive an ARC of this book.
It is the third book in a series, can be read as a stand-alone (that’s what I did), but I would recommend reading this first two books, for more context, I was sometimes a bit lost when there were mentions of previous events or characters that were previously introduced in the series, but I didn’t know.
It a fast-paced, quick read, that follows Dante and Kay, two former best friends turned enemies turned lovers. Kat is a computer genius, and sometimes I was completely lost when it was all tech-talk, but I chalked it up to me being a bit clueless as far as computers are concerned haha I liked the characters, the story was overall nice, but I don’t think that I will read the sequel (it ends on a cliffhanger !), I wasn’t that into it. I was curious to learn more about Dante’s secret and lie, and now that I know, my curiosity was satisfied.
If you’re into mafia romance, with HEA, cute characters and fast-paced story, go for it !
The relationship between Dante and Kat may have started as friends but it evolved into so much more until circumstances unfolded and Dante realized the only way to protect those he cares about was to leave. Five years later he is back with his family and looking for a second chance with Kat but the danger is far from over.
Kat was hurt when Dante left and isn’t sure she is prepared to trust him with her heart. As the danger escalates around them, they will need to work together to deal not only with the threats in the present but the secrets from the past.
I am enjoying the Carelli family and Dante and Kat’s story is no exception, and I am looking forward to what the future holds for this family.
Dante is the third book in the Carelli Family series. It's a love hate relationship between Dante and Kat. They are been friends since the crib and have had each others back thru their entire lives. That is until the trust was broken by lies. Now thrown back together because the past is coming for them and their family and town. After the town is set on fire and destroys most of their hometown they come together to fight back Only way that Kat will do this is Dante tells her about what happened all of those years again. It's a fine line between love and hate with these two. So they decided to be lovers and a duo of strenght to get to the bottom of all of the maddest. Can't wait for Toni and Luca's book
This was a friends-to-lovers mafia romance. It’s the third book in the Carelli Family Saga, but it can be read as a standalone.
I didn’t read the first two books, so it was a little confusing with all the different names — one of the character was called by his nickname and his real name.
Despite that, this was an interesting story. It was fast-paced and had lots of tension between Dante and Kat. Dante was trying to get back into Kay’s good graces, but he had secrets that he refused to tell her. Kat was strong and stood up for herself. They managed to get past their difficulties and had a HEA…sort of. The book ends on a cliffhanger, which means the next book will need to be read to find out what happens. I felt like the ending was a bit rushed and abrupt. However, the story was interesting, so I’ll probably read the next book to see the cliffhanger resolved.
This one was my favourite of the series so far. It broke my heart a little giving it 4 stars, but the ending/last few chapters felt rushed with so much in the air. I adored these characters and the plot hence I found the unanswered questions and abrupt ending let the book down as a whole. Yes I'm sure some will get answered in the next book but I was enjoying where the story was going in THIS book and felt like the couple had so much more to say. This is just my opinion and I'm sure many will disagree.
Dante and Kat have been glued to each others hip since toddlers. Best friends until one dreadful night when everything crashed. Trust broken. Hearts shattered. No one really knew what had actually happened and why except Dante. Kat and Dante always knew what made each other tick. Never afraid to call out one another on bs. A war has broken out putting the town in danger and lives shattered over losses. As wounds are healed and love arose Dante finally confessed his secret to Kat. A secret that his family might consider betrayal.
This is book 3 in the Carelli Family Saga and the most engaging. It’s fast paced, action romance featuring childhood friends.
Having grown up together, Dante and Kat were almost inseparable. Then something happened and years later Dante has to win back Kat’s trust and love. Kat is superb hacker and if you read Smoke you’ll now get her family connection.
Dante and Kat. Another story with the Carelli family. Dante and Kat have been best buds since childhood. After that something happened that caused hurt feelings and wrong doing. Next Kat left and finally came back. And Dante came back. Now these two are in the same town again but it is different. Can they get back to where they were previously or a new beginning? Will here be a war? Can the town still be protected? So many questions need to be answered.
I am so grateful I was sent an ARC for this book. To really enjoy this book I think I would’ve had to read the books before this in the series. There were moments I enjoyed but it felt rushed to me. I wanted more of Dante and Kat. I wanted more backstory for them too. If you’re a fan of the series I definitely think you’ll enjoy this book. It just wasn’t for me
Really good book. I felt like the ending was rushed & cut short. Kat & Dante go through so much. They started out as friends and became so much more. It’s hard to trust someone when they left you before, no matter the reasons. These two have so much to get through. Will they make it? Great story, just wish the ending was better.
Love the Carelli Family. This book tied up a lot of those loose ends that had you saying, 'what the heck is going on here?' in book 2. Dante and Kat are the best couple! From the constant bantering and hot chemistry, the two of them are perfect. I have to say, go back and read books one and two first, there are a lot of things that will not make sense unless you do.
Dante is a quick read in this friends to lovers mafia romance in the Carelli Family series. I've missed the Carelli family, and this book gives me that taste. Plus, I enjoyed Dante and Kat: their banter and their chemistry. I'm looking forward to more from them in the future, plus Luca and Antonia and the rest of the Carelli's.
I had a hard time getting into this book. I felt like I was coming into the middle of a story. Even though I’ve read the first two books, I felt a little lost. I found myself skimming quite a bit. The pace did pick up, but then the timeline jumped and the ending was abrupt. I feel like I did not get a complete story.
Wow, the Carelli Family came back with a bang! Literally & Figuratively! Amid the drama with Dante & Kat, best-friends who fell out but who feel so much more (but are both so stubborn), there’s a brewing war, secrets and constant danger. Keeps you on your toes! Can’t wait for Antonia’s book!
I read the 3 books but when it vot go the end of book 3 Dante it left with a cliff hanger. It did say Antonia was written in 2023 but everywhere I have checked the book does not exist so now I'm wondering what happened. Apart from that the series was a great read.
Could not put this story down. The Carelli family is off the chart action packed excitement. The steam between these couples are intense. I love everything Carelli!
