Overall I really enjoyed this book. The information is equally balanced between mundane information and magickal. The writing is the perfect blend of casual and informative.

The best part of the book—and what makes me want to go buy this—is the second half. There are common flowers, herbs, and veggies that we all come across. Whether you plan to grow them or use them in your magickal kitchen, there are quite a few often overlooked in Witchcraft books. This alone was a huge push for me to go buy a copy of this book.

Downsides include some questionable spells in the first part:

Pg 86
“Spell to draw the love of the one you desire”
Pg 90
“Apple blossom compulsion spell”

Consent and free will are completely tossed out the window. Personally, that alone cost this book a star. Otherwise, it would’ve been a 5/5 for me. Encouraging readers to actively do magick on another without explicit consent is a no for me.

The other thing I didn’t like was the lack of a conclusion. The abrupt ending that is unfortunately becoming more common is not something I like. A simple paragraph or two at the end would’ve been nice.

That said, I still think this is a book worth getting if you’re interested in making a magickal garden or you’re a kitchen witch.

Great reference but it was missing … PICTURES! Even little pen ink sketches would have been helpful. I also think she missed the opportunity to offer a few garden plan layouts.
