makes the Bible fun and relevant for teens

Bravo! Spencer Demetros brings familiar Bible stories in Boston the New and Old Testament to life for teens and young adult readers. The author manages to make these stories fun and relevant with a genuine, non-corny style. What shines through on every page is the author's deeply held beliefs and his love of his children (and others), and his found mission to try to foster belief in others. Parents, grandparents and youth ministers of every denomination should rush out to buy this book.

Disclaimer: I was raised Catholic, but I no longer consider myself a Christian of any sort. Now that that’s out of the way, I really enjoyed this book. I’m always a little hesitant when it comes to anything involving the Bible or Christianity, but I was pleasantly surprised. I could definitely see this being a book that would have been used in my teen Bible study group (back in the day). Honestly, I think it’s a brilliant way to make it more accessible to younger Christians, as I know from experience the Bible can feel slow and boring when you’re young.

A refreshing portal to Bible stories – and teachings!

Massachusetts author Spencer C Demetros is a business attorney in the tech industry and a father of teenage twins, the latter being the reason for the structure of this book on communicating with the teen set about Christianity.

The author explains his reason for writing this book: ‘”These days fewer and fewer people, especially young people, are turning to God’s Holy Word. As a result, they are losing the key to God’s gift of salvation and eternal life. That’s where this book steps in. THE BIBLE: ENTER NOW retells key stories and teachings of the Holy Bible, but in a way that is clear, entertaining, and relevant to the lives of young people. I originally wrote the stories in this book for my own boy-girl twins. When they were little, they loved when my wife Catherine and I would read to them from their children’s Bibles, with their cartoony pictures, simple language, and selection of only the most colorful Bible stories. But once they hit their preteen years, when we had to start reading form the full Bible, our nightly devotional time went downhill, and fast….So I started my search for a book that presents the key stories and teachings of the Bible in a way that is enjoyable and relatable for preteens, teenagers, and young adults…’ And finding none, Spencer felt called to write this book.

The book is divided between the Old Testament and the New Testament and some idea of the humor with which Spencer invests this book is obvious from the chapter titles: That Better Be One Darn Tasty Apple!, Why Is Mom Being So Salty?, Jacob Gets His Mojo On, Baby Moses -The Nile Returns The Favor To Pharaoh, The Original Soul Music (Long Before Motown), Jonah – Man of God or Acid Reflux, The Crucifixion - The Story Ain’t Over Yet, and Revelation – The Zombie Apocalypse on Steroids.

The pleasure is in Spencer’s writing: he develops his own growth and experiences with each chapter, uses contemporary language and references, but the point he makes about understanding the Bible remains focused. At the end of each learning experience chapter he asks a What Do You Think? selection of questions that suggest the reader re-think the content and personalize it. That provides an easy way to grasp the readers’ attention and pull them into the greater ideas the Bible offers. Quite simply, it works! This ‘re-telling’ of the Old and New Testament stories makes the Bible readily accessible to teens – especially.

The Bible has the answers to life's most important questions. But for many teens, and even many adults, God's message can be lost in the Bible's often confusing terminology, dry language, or lengthy history lessons.

This was the reason author Spencer C Demetros decided to write this book and I'm so glad he did. I found it to be a fun and entertaining revival of the bible, and is most certainly needed in this day and age. Times change, society changes, and styles and teachings move on too, so it’s about time that we breathe a new lease of life into the bible too!

This would be a perfect book for use in schools, kids love a good story that is interesting, relatable and fun and this book gives you just that. Well done to the author, I will most certainly be using this book to teach my own children and will be recommending to friends and family too.

The Bible: Enter Here: Bringing God's Word to Life for Today's Teens by Spencer C. Demetros is a highly accessible and readable book tailored for teens but great for adults as well. The book aims to distill and put in a simpler language many of the bible stories people are familiar with. Some of the characters you will meet are Peter, Delilah, and Jacob among others. The bible is inherently difficult to read and this book makes it much easier to digest. If you have ever felt intimidated by the dry language of the bible and found it difficult to follow along, this book is a great option. The author makes the stories relevant to today with simple and clear language. Highly recommend.

‘The Bible: Enter Here’ is an easy-to-read book that presents stories from the bible in an approachable and interactive way. Author Spencer C. Demetros not only writes the stories in a way that makes them much easier to engage with but he also offers insight as well as questions to ponder while you are reading. Not only does it make it more engaging and easy to read but it provides a way to start a discussion about what it is you are reading. I think this is a very clever way of helping people, particularly teens, reflect and understand the teachings of the Bible. I would recommend this book to anyone who is searching for a way to engage with the Bible and the teachings of God but is struggling with reading the Bible itself.

The Bible: Enter Here by Spencer C Demetros is an entertaining revamp of beloved Bible stories directed at today’s youngsters. I found this to be a refreshing new take that I think will ignite the imagination of young readers and also hold their attention. I believe everyone should have the freedom to decide their own personal religious path, but perhaps this book can provide interest for young readers to later go on and discover more for themselves. The Bible: Enter Here is told with plenty of humour and enthusiasm, and is sure to spike the interest of many youngsters which could later on lead to a deeper understanding about God.

The Bible: Enter Here: Bringing God's Word to Life for Today's Teens by Spencer C. Demetros begins will his search as a young man for any evidence that God was out there listening to him. Each chapter summarizes a major event in the Bible with the author's notes on why he thinks things ended the way they did. The author also has questions at the end you can ask teenagers, or they can ask themselves. This book is not one-sided; the author wants teenagers to ask questions and seek out answers. Spencer Demetros is in tune with teenagers and their passion for solutions that make sense to them. Religion often has unexplainable topics that can be explained with the Bible if time and effort are made to find them. Well-written and a useful tool to reach teenagers for the gospel.

I totally enjoyed this book from the witty chapter titles to the stories that come directly from the Bible but are told them in modern language. I enjoyed everything about this book and even though I am 49 years old and this is for teens. I still found it very engaging and kept me wanting to read. I think if I had had this book as a teenager I wouldn’t have dreaded reading the Bible. It was told in an engaging way and I found it very entertaining. If you love Bible stories but don’t know all of them you need to get this book. I totally and thoroughly enjoyed it and highly recommend it. Please forgive any grammatical errors as I am blind and dictate my reviews.

I believe that reading the Bible cover to cover can be an important exercise for any person of faith, but it can be a daunting one too that requires daily discipline. While this book is not a substitute for that, I believe it will give readers a solid grounding in the most important aspects, with their stories told in a compelling, almost page-turning way.

The stories themselves are short and straight to the point, told with humour in a way the fits in with todays modern society, making The Bible Enter Here very relatable. I think this is a perfect book to be given or read to young adults, in this day and age that would quite possibly hold their attention long enough for the main point of the stories to sink in and resonate leaving a curiosity strong enough to hold further discussions and ask questions. A great tool to help towards further understanding of the teachings in the Bible.

The book is aimed at young readers, however as a 40 something reader it actually appealed to me. I really enjoyed reading The Bible: Enter Here and to be totally honest I got a lot of enjoyment and understanding from this despite having read a lot of the bible. I was intrigued after reading the synopsis, and wondered how the book would help bring christianity into the lives of children, when reading the bible directly may bore them, and not maintain their interest. My thoughts after reading, I was very impressed. Thank you Spencer Demetros, this book will be a go-to in my home for some time. Highly recommended.
