The author's secrets behind his time-management philosophy are revealed in a manual that explains how to jumpstart the day, maintain momentum, identify and eliminate time wasters, plan work realistically, increase productivity, and more. Original. 35,000 first printing.
I don’t agree with everything in this book (I think there absolutely comes a time when you can push yourself too hard) and it’s a bit dated. However, I have always loved Don Aslett’s books, I’ve read them over and over again because he has a way of motivating me and lighting a fire under my seat like no one else can. I’m always more productive after reading one of his books. ☺️
Don't let the folksy tone fool you - Mr. Aslett has some real, hard-headed, down-to-earth advice in this book. AAnd the best part of it is that you don't need fancy tools or expensive seminars to follow it. In fact, according to Mr. Aslett, many of those are just so much wastes of valuable time.
Mr. Aslett takes the tack that the one thing we all have is time, and that how you decide to use your time is what makes the difference between being a high- or low-producer. And his solutions are grounded in the same kind of common sense that most of us were taught by our parents (yeah, even mine had this kind of common sense, odd as that may sound to many of you).
What I like best about Mr. Aslett's books are his thorough sense that if he can do "x", there is no good reason on earth that anyone else can't do it. This pretty much aligns with my belief that if I can do something, pretty much anyone else should be able to do it, too, since I figure I'm pretty average.
I must add, too, that the more of his books I read, the more I want to read. I find them inspiring, and they get me fired up more solidly than many of the other books on organizing that I've started, but felt like I was plodding through. I highly recommend this book for anyone who wants to get more out of the time they have.
Cute book with some good advice. I gave it the score I did also because I am going to recommend that everyone who goes through Pocatello, Idaho be sure to stop in the the author's museum, The Museum of Clean! A tongue in cheek look at cleaning products and device's, I visited with friends and we had a ball! It's five floors of cleaning products and fun. We enjoyed it immensely and learned a few things about cleaning stuff and the history of cleaning stuff, too.
This book is filled with a lot of great ideas and tips to help you be more productive and get things down. It is a bit old, so some of the stuff referenced is a bit out of date (Its amazing to see how fast things have changed from when this book was published). Still its a good place to start if you want to find ways to be more productive and get things done. Recomened.
Don Aslett gets you motivated in this little book. He says that to-do lists don’t really help you because they don’t actually help you to accomplish anything. There are tips in this book to help you simplify your life. He encourages you to get energized by doing.
This book was more like a motivational manual to be more proactive instead of lazy. Not much on techniques for cutting clutter. Instead it was like a self-help, inspirational book.
