Dr Bennett’s Babies is the second in the Healing Hands – Doctors by Specialty series by Aussie author Fiona McArthur, and we meet Tilly, a midwife in a busy Sydney hospital not far from the beautiful beachside suburb of Coogee where she lives. Tilly shares a house with three other women who also work at the hospital, and when her next door neighbour’s nephew arrives to stay, the girls all agree he’s a good looking man. The circumstances of Tilly’s first encounter were less than good, but it was the knowledge that the nephew was actually Dr Marcus Bennett, her consultant and superior in her department that shook her momentarily. And the fact that his views of midwifery differed so much to hers meant there were bound to be harsh words…

Could Tilly and Marcus call a truce for the sake of their patients? Marcus’ past was traumatic – something he hadn’t moved on from. Would Tilly be able to help him overcome his fears?

Dr Bennett’s Babies is a heartwarming, poignant tale and one I recommend highly.

With thanks to the author for my digital ARC to read in exchange for an honest review.

Fiona McArthur has done it again with another gorgeous and beautiful story filled with emotion, love, romance and such happiness, I do hope that you will come along for the journey to a beautiful HEA with Marcus and Tilly.

Matilda MacPherson is a midwife and loves her job, bringing babies into the world is precious but it can have its worrying moments as well, there is a new head of obstetrics starting at the hospital today and Tilly is very pleased this one is younger and hopefully more enthused about modern birthing.

Marcus Bennett has studied for years to be able to run an obstetrics department so as he can make decisions that will make mothers and babies as safe as they can be, he has rules that he needs to keep in place and his first day does not go as planned as he meets the neighbour he had a run in with the day before and finds that she is a junior midwife in his hospital and he knows that they are going to clash.

This is such a good story it has everything in it, it is witty which caused lots of smiles it is also emotional there were tears from me but the joy of seeing Tilly break down the wall that Marcus had built around himself was moving and filled with such love as they argued and stood their grounds until they found that happy place called love. A must read story for any romance reader that loves babies and romance, I have to say the setting is fabulous as well, Coogee is one of Sydney’s awesome beaches even with sharks, I do highly recommend this one it left me smiling.

My thanks to the author for my digital copy to read and review.

Midwife Tilly has sworn off men after two failed romances, she needs a break. Even when her neighbour's good looking nephew comes to stay she tells herself she is definitely not interested. She's happy with a friendship status with Marcus.
When she learns Marcus is the new head obstetrician at the hospital and she doesn't agree with his new birthing policies their friendship status is sorely tested as they clash time and time again.

Dr Bennett's Babies is book #2 in Fiona McArthur's specialists series. I've enjoyed all of Fiona's medical romance stories that I have read and this is no exception.
McArthur's females are always feisty and passionate about their work and her male characters are strong yet willing to listen and learn. They know what they want and are not afraid to wear their heart on their sleeve. Quite often they are just that tiny bit broken, as Marcus is in this story, and all they need is the support of a strong woman to help them move on from the past.

There is lots of conflict between midwives and doctors and I can believe this would actually be true in any birthing hospital.
Fiona explores the theme of safe home births and water births with hospital support and backup.
As with all Fiona's midwife books there are a couple of birthing scenes and not all go smoothly. This may be a trigger for some readers.

I loved the initial conflict between Tilly and Marcus with a light underlying sexual tension. Dr Bennett's Babies is an easy read. I thoroughly enjoyed it and read it in a few hours.

Dr Bennett's Babies was a delightful read. I enjoyed meeting Marcus and Matilda (Tilly), their initial meeting didn't go so well after Tilly mistakes Marcus as a thief trying to break and enter into her neighbours house, and their subsequent interactions are all over the place when they find out they are working together and their views on birthing don't align.

Marcus has some serious hangups, ones you can understand due to an awful event that happened to him and his family when he was a child, but Tilly is determined to make him face those hangups and rethink his beliefs on safe birthing and water safety.

I loved how Tilly was completely sure of her skills and her beliefs about how women should be able to give birth and wasn't afraid to voice those feelings with Marcus, her new boss despite it causing more friction and problems between them. Every time I read a Fiona McArthur book I learn something new about midwifery and how things still need to change in the way babies are born and mothers and fathers are treated.

Marcus and Tilly were made for each other and despite neither wanting a relationship and their initial friction over their jobs, it was good to see them both find their way to friendship and love.

Thanks to the author for a digital copy of this novel in return for an honest review.

A beautiful easy to read romance novel with babies, doctors and nurses as the theme with a heart in mouth incident to keep me turning the pages until the end. I just loved it.

This is a lovely romance between midwife Tilly and consultant obstetrician Marcus. It could have been fiery and combatant with their often opposing views at work, but Fiona McArthur has given us her trademark sweetness and intelligent fair play between the H&H. The background of new birth and some sadness makes a good foil for this charming romance.

Just beautiful. So sensitive and lovely without being soppy. This is the 2nd Healing Hands book of Fiona McArthur that I've read and I already have others on my Kobo - this author is definitely one worth catching up with. It is a short novel, beautifully written with so much sympathy and empathy.

I love these sweet stories about midwives and the challenges they face. The added bonus of a HEA gives it an extra helping of Awww factor. I do enjoy Fiona McArthur's books.
