I guess Theo could be a woman's name but I'm going to go out on a limb and say that this author has to be a MAN. I mean, only a man could write a woman character who makes excuses for her husband after he cheats (publicly gets caught on tape and broadcast across social media) on her with his detective partner and stays with him and then when he cheats on her a second time she still forgives him again and stays with him.
The only reason I finished it was to see her hand him his ass but nope. She just went back for more. The poor woman had to watch a video of her husband having sex with his partner and then got pictures emailed to her of him cheating again. Yep... must have been written by a man.
Escaping You begins with a tumultuous marriage that is impacted by a traumatic event when the wife is almost raped by a neighbor and an office steps in to prevent it. This officer becomes obsessed with the wife and begins trying to woo her, but when she decides she wants to work things out with her husband, the officer becomes enraged and goes to crazy lengths to have her.
• Amazing tension and thrills throughout, this kept me on the edge of my seat. • Detested the husband and eventually was rooting for him to win his wife back over. The character development was fantastic. • The entire story was fast-paced and kept me on my toes, I wasn’t expecting the ending or the direction it was going.
I recommend picking this one up, you won't expect what's coming.
What I enjoyed about this book was that I was able to get a clear view inside the minds of a husband and wife in a somewhat rocky relationship. The story flowed well from a chapter with the wife’s point of view, to the next being from her husband’s POV. The writing was great and painted a very visceral picture in my head.
The story did have a few twists I didn’t see coming, as well as a few that I did. This book however is definitely not a favorite.. Still, I wanted to see the story through the entire time and it was a quick read for me.
If you enjoy thrillers / suspense, you would probably like this book.
This was certainly a twisted "love?" story. In reality it gave me a minute of pause. I wondered if this could really happen in life. Instead of protecting the public, the boys in blue are either having sex with their partners, demanding sexual favors or they belong in a psych ward. Scary.
I just found it so predictable. Story-line was good but the characters weren't really believable all the time. I hated Robert, like HATED him. Even in the end, he still didn't really get what his actions caused. The heroine, was decent but I would have appreciated her being a bit stronger, and not taking a two time cheater back.
I loathe this book. The husband is awful. Has no emotional intelligence at all. The wife is dragging around the dead weight of her loser husband. There’s no one to root for. I hate them both. Stopped reading after a few chapters.
I loved this book. It was a great story that never stopped. All I could do here is to write what was in the synopsis to tell you what it was about, so just read it yourself and then read the book. You'll be glad you did!
The book wasn’t bad. It’s wasn’t over-the-top great either. There were some typos and predictable things but definitely readable. It read like a lifetime movie TBH. If you like a simple mystery then this book is for you. This sounds harsh and I don’t mean it to be that way: the author is good. I firmly believe in finishing all books you start because you never know how it goes. How can you give something an honest review without finishing it? I guess I just needed more of something to have it stick with me. It just needed a stronger emotional connection.
It was OK at best, didn't really get on with any of the characters, the wife is one of those once in a lifetime women that I am frankly bored of reading about, the husband should have been left & is riled up and boring, the stalker cop is laughbale at best. Very TV movie storyline.
Gripping story of varying obsessions..not such a good thing when one is a psychopathic cop. The end was somewhat predictable but it was a great read getting to it.
Tedious at first but then it got interesting. I came across several words that were out of place. Like Davis for David. There were a few more, I can’t remember them.
Terribly written. This book came up as a suggestion based on similar books read. I would definitely not recommend. Very poorly written. Not worth the read at all.
