This was… ok.

This book is the second in this series. The first one was HOT, had no plot, and had an awful ending (it ended with Sydney and Allie just saying “k cool! See you around” 😂, which was barely a HFN). At the time that I read book 1, this book hasn’t been announced yet, so when I realized that this book continues on from book 1 and that Sydney and Allie were actually getting their HEA I was pretty excited!

What the first book lacked in plot, it made up for in smut! There was a lot of smut in this book too, but it just didn’t do it for me. Maybe because it was so PC? What I LOVE about the Omegaverse genre is the super aggressive Alphas. I like ‘em rough and growly. I want them to throw the h down and MAKE her like it. I don’t want my alphas to be submissive and considerate… seems like kind of an oxymoron if you ask me! There was a lot of talking and “do you like this” and “is this ok” in this book. It was very mature, sweet, respectful and healthy. I hated it 😅.

I also didn’t like the dialogue between Sydney and Allie. I can’t even pinpoint what I didn’t like about it, but it just annoyed me!

Perfection!!!

Ggagghhh that was so freaking cute! LOVE LOVE LOVE! My new favorite couple! They are so perfect together and both are hilarious, I loved the banter. I laughed out loud so many times. Top notch chemistry, you really feel their connection. Glad I bought these books, definitely on the reread list.

Ahhh this was so good! *Chef’s kiss.* I have so much love for this book, this duet, these characters, and their story. This author and these books deserve so much more hype and recognition! I am shocked by how few ratings and reviews they have, because they were so good and have become favorites for me.❤️

This book (and duet) far surpassed my expectations. I loved every single thing about it and enjoyed every single minute of it. I was fully invested and could not put it down. I loved the writing (so incredibly well done👏🏻), the pacing, the story, the dialogue and banter (some of the best I’ve ever read; it felt so natural and had me smiling and laughing; it was addicting), the smut (again, so well written; I especially appreciated the pegging scene, as I’ve never read a book that included one before, so it was refreshing; I actually created a new shelf just for this😆), the 5-year time jump between this book and the first book (I liked it, because it provided the FMC with the time and opportunity to grow and mature. I really loved her in this and how she had changed and was more confident and care free), the puppies (because c’mon, who doesn’t love puppies in books?), the third-person POV (book one was from the FMC’s, so I really loved and appreciated that this one was from the MMC’s. As I mentioned in my review for the first book, I’m usually not a fan of third-person POV and avoid it, but I really loved how it was done in this duet. It honestly has made me change my mind about third-person POV books and to not just immediately dismiss them for this reason alone). I also loved and adored the FMC (Allie) and MMC (Sidney). I loved them even more in this than I did in book one. They were so sweet and great together and had such a fun, healthy relationship with lots of open communication, trust, respect, love, compassion, and friendship. And their chemistry and banter in this were top tier. I connected with them and felt their connection. And I loved that this book (and duet) were really dialogue driven, which is what I prefer, but not only that, I just can’t get over how great the dialogue was. I also liked how this ended with a HFN instead of the cliched, overdone marriage/kids HEA. It was refreshing. This book was refreshing. The writing was refreshing. The characters were refreshing. This duet was refreshing. Reading it was like a breath of fresh air for me after DNFing so many and reading lots of so-so books. This was such a great, feel-good read. It was fun, fast-paced, concise, steamy, easy-to-read, funny, and well developed with lovable characters and an interesting story. I loved everything about it and really enjoyed it. I will definitely be rereading it in the future and would 1000% recommend it!😊

Five years ago, Allie and Sidney met when she hired him to be her "Heat Helper" for her first heat, a service provided by the omega clinic that she visited. He was also just her first, in every way. They were only together for a week, and once her heat subsided, they went their separate ways. Allie contacted the clinic to try to hire him for subsequent heats but his schedule didn't permit it. They never forgot each other.

A chance meeting brings them together again. In this story, it's all Sidney's POV even though it's in third person. The first story was in Allie's POV. I have to say that Sidney didn't seem very 'alpha' in this story. Although I suppose that an alpha could also struggle with self-doubt or question his own decisions and motivations, or be less dominant such as Caleb in Kathryn Moon's Lola and the Millionaires.

So there's some question of whether they are responding to each other just because of biology and the alpha-omega hormones, or do they really like each other. Allie has gained confidence over the last five years and is no longer so awkward or easily embarrassed by the sexual stuff. Sidney doesn't have to be so careful of her since she's not a virgin and not in heat, so he can let go of his control a bit.

It's another short story and I wish we could have had a bit more on Allie's experiences since the last time they met and how she had gained that sexual confidence, although I understand that Sidney wouldn't have wanted to hear details of her being with other people. I also wish we could have heard more dialogue between them to see them connecting on a deeper personal level and getting to know each other, rather than just the sexual attraction. The author says there'll be more books on Sidney and Ally, so I hope to see their relationship grow and have more instances of banter and everyday life moments.

So happy for this Second Chance

This second instalment to First Heat did not disappoint. I simply love these two and I’m so happy to see their story continue after an ending that left me with mixed feelings in book one!

This story took place 5 years after the first story, and both Sidney and Allie grew up and moved onto different jobs before meeting at a chance encounter. I liked this story a little better than the previous, but it was still a little too much insta-lust to insta-love for me. Sidney still didn't have much of an alpha personality to me. I also didn't find it very believable that a doctor specializing in omega heats hadn't heard of ideal mates and uncontrollable bonding before.

It was good to finally get an explanation that heat helpers at the center were banned from dating clients for at least 2 years from last interaction, so I guess that excused to the cool separation at the end of the previous story.

I'd likely recommend this to someone that wanted to read some light super-tame omegaverse romance with mild kink.

As I read book one, I knew that there will be a second book. So, I wasn't upset about the ending in book one. The first had basically no plot, and a lot of sexy times. Which is okay.

Book two is five years after that time. Still a lot of smutty scenes and a little plot. But... I don't know. I somehow liked the smutty times more in book one. I think it has to do with the fact, that Sidney was more in charge in book one. In book two, he has a more submissive behavior and wasn't so sure. I don't have anything against that, but I do like it more in the reverse way. But the connection between the two was still there. And, I like, that this book was of Sidney's POV.

So, the story was sweet. With lovely little dialogues and puppies. I liked it, just not perfectly to my taste.

Five years have passed since the events in First Heat. Allie and Sidney run into each other and it's as though no time has passed at all except that Allie has gained more confidence.

This book explores more (in terms of spice content and OV tropes). I still love how caring Sidney is and how much focus is placed on consent. Magic. If you haven't been convinced from the first book, then let me just say: LOTS O'PUPPIES.

This was a great follow up to First Heat and I look forward to anymore omegaverse goodness Cassidy blesses us with in the future.

The spice just keeps coming with Second Chances! Five years later and Allie (Ω) has been through a few heats and is more experienced. The sex gets even hotter with Sidney (A) and Allie. Great short read, really enjoyed the book. I really waivered on giving this a 5/5 in spice because normally I don't give it to MF single partner books but it if the book makes me squirm, then it's deserved.

A really lovely second book. I appreciate that the author set this book far enough in the future for Allie to grow up a bit, form her own sexual preferences and experiences before she get backs together with Sydney. I also loved that we got both of their POVs in this one. Just a sexy and low angst conclusion. And rescue puppies! Who doesn't love rescue puppies!

Book two went off with a bang.. literally

5 years hurt my heart, but it was absolutely needed. This was an amazing follow up and everything I could have hoped for, for these two. I'm so glad book two exists! I'm guna sob when I finish the last one because this is literally the perfect smutty paranormal romance book.

Bonded…

Leaves you wanting more and more… This couple bonded by “accident” during their second chance encounter. They have to deal with that and learning about each other.
This was a quick read and it has puppies…
I really wanted more of them.
Overall a decent series.

HEA!

This is a ridiculously sweet conclusion to the First Heat duet that is still full of spice like the first book. However without the heat being a factor there’s more to the story. Also spoiler…we meet foster puppies!

This duet is probably one of my all time favorites novellas. I am usually left wanting a lot more. Don't get me wrong, I would be thrilled is their was more. However, it still seems pretty complete. Highly recommend!

It's been five years since Sidney helped Allie through her first heat and they've both had a lot of growing up to do since then.

He's now retired from being a heat helped and she's settled into her career so is now a good time for them to meet again?
