Brantley is standoffish, moody and rough around the edges. He’s passionate about his family and doesn’t let anyone else in. Past traumas have him cautious, reclusive and aloof. He’s a deadly, enticing cocktail for many women, as he seems unattainable. He doesn’t trust easily and avoids people, especially when it comes to romantic relationships. He’s content trick riding and caring for his sisters, prior to meeting Katelyn. His world gets turned upside down and he’s left stunned and floored by her presence and the way she makes him feel.
Katelyn always imagined herself falling for a hopeless romantic, being one herself. But there’s something about Brantley… His serious, intense eyes and half smiles have her wanting to poke the bear in him. Pulling out his playful side sets her mind, body and heart on fire.
Can the two work through their differences, embrace their contrasts, to create a love that most will only ever dream of? Or will fear, distance and anguish force them apart?
"You didn't think you were marrying a gentleman, did you?" Sexyy!!!
A sweet, passionate and brutal romance between Brantley and Katelyn. There's darkness, sadness and helplessness in the story at times due to a character's traumatic past, but then you find that there is even more warmth, love and fervor.
I'm not a fan of the whole waiting until marriage before having sex. I believe in finding out if one is compatible in every way before putting a ring on it, as some people might not want the same thing in the bedroom, and it'd be a shame to find that out down the line when it could've been done much sooner and saved everyone money, disappointment, time and heartache. But, luckily, for this beautiful couple, it works out very well, and only strengthens their bond after they patiently ache and yearn for each other and do some heavy kissing and touching to tide them over. They also go through some long distance for a while and you feel the longing and suffering from both of them, as they miss one another deeply and think of each other constantly. It's very passionate and intense and I LOVE that.
There is so much tenderness, devotion and affection, you feel it when you read it. It's hard at times to read about the torment and anguish that Brantley went through, it's absolutely heartbreaking. To see him grow as a person and let go of the fear that he could lose Katelyn, because he suspects he might be undeserving of her, is quite a nice transformation. It turns out he's completely worthy of her, just as she is worthy of him, she thinks the world of him and adores him. He learns to trust and let go of the worries and give in to his heart's desires. It's wonderful how embracing and understanding Katelyn is towards Brantley, about his past, and she does what she can to support him emotionally and wait for marriage. She respects his decisions and looks forward to their future together. They fit perfectly as a couple.
I like how responsible and caring Brantley is with kids, how he takes control and protects the ones he loves. I like how Katelyn is ambitious, hard-working and also a natural nurturer. :)
