The Arrangement: The Ferro Family

Rate this book
THE SERIES WITH OVER A MILLION COPIES SOLD
Volume 1 in the bestselling Arrangement Serials

Genre: New Adult Romance Series

FML is becoming Avery's motto. Just when she doesn't think things could get any worse, they do. When her car stalls out at a busy intersection and she gets out to check under the hood, a guy steals her car. Armed with a dress and a pair of Chucks, Avery runs after the thief. When a hot stranger offers to help, she can't say no. That's how Avery meets Sean Ferro, the totally sexy, totally damaged guy with more secrets than she has time for.

Avery doesn't have time for anything anymore. Her is life falling apart and it's not just the car. It's everything, and it doesn't matter how tightly she tries to hold on, there's nothing left to hold on to. With the sudden death of her parents, it's only a matter of months until Avery's shot at college is gone, and she's living in a cardboard box. Other students have their families to rely on when things get bad. Avery has no one.

But there's one option, one incredibly sexy, morally devoid, option. If Avery takes a job as a call girl, one guy could save her. One client. One time. She just has to say yes.

H.M. WARD:

description

Honestly, this is BULLSHIT. I have never in all my book reading on Kindle have seen anything like this! And I've read a shocking amount of books!

Who divides a book up into such tiny little bits and sells them off for 3 fucking dollars EACH? There's like 11 instalments ***So far????*** and all you get are a few chapters. Yes, the tiny little thing tells you there's probably a dozen "chapters" but they're hardly a few pages long.

You're paying 3 dollars when you can pay the same price for a full length novel on Kindle. This is what sickens me the most. 3 dollars isn't a lot of money at all, of course, but it fucking adds up! Especially when you read something that is only a little over an hour long and abruptly ends at 80% before telling you to buy the next fucking installment. WHAT.THE.FUCK? I can't believe there's such a huge following, too. Are you guys for real?
description
Now let's get to the story which is even more painful than the instalment issue. I can't tell you jack shit about the fucking heroine. The book was a joke in length, so I'm a loss with that. You barely get a feel for any of it, really. Everything happens so quickly and abruptly - I made absolutely no connection to anybody.

And of course it's formulaic as hell. It really pisses me off when authors rip each other off and damage the New Adult genre when there are so many other books out there that are unique and give the genre something to hope for. Instead, we get swamped with another Uni struggling student and, at 22 years of fucking age is... wait for it... a virgin! Well, of-fucking-course she is! Wouldn't want to be realistic and give her even a minor sexual history -- NOPE, can't do that. Let's just keep recycling these virginal, 22 year old heroines, shall we?

And then.... Ooooh, this is the best bit, we get another stalker type "mysterious" love interest. You know how I can't tell you jack shit about the heroine? Well, multiply that by infinity and that's how much I know Sean Farro (ooooh, even his name is soooo mysterious, huh?). And, to put it bluntly, the guy wants to fuck hookers. Virginal hookers.
description

But this is all a damn coincidence because he met virginal, student struggling, shit car owner Avery a couple times before. Ohhh, man! It goes against the rules when Avery decides to become a hooker (and boy, we get a few "intense" pages of her internal battle on that one before she knocks that moral dilemma on the head!) To top it all off, she knows he's seeking a virginal hooker woman he wants to "teach." But does that scare Avery away?!?!

I think you already know the answer is NO!
description

Fucking stupid. Truly, stupid. So. Fucking. Stupid. I at least expect SOME KIND of masterpiece if this person is demanding 3 fucking dollars per sneak peak. Instead, we get grammatical errors left, right and centre.

I'm just so disappointed because I know how hard writers work, and they put up their work as a Kindle Edition only wanting their names out there and to have people enjoy their work. None I have come across have been this greedy. They've all been humble in this process, and now I'm going to respect the shit out of them even more.

With this though? This is a reader's trap. The kind of cliffhanger after such short notice that readers will fall for quickly and without thought. Why? MOSTLY because it happens right before these two are about to fuck. What a great con, Ward. Truly. Lap it up.

So I wanted to try this because there are four fucking volumes of this all at $2.99 and I was like that sucks. Especially since each novella is only 20,000 words. If you have four parts why not just put it all together for one book and then price it at like 9.99.

But then I realized that its a serial novel.

So I decided to check it out,my hand hovering over the REFUND button on Amazon. I read chapter one. Enjoyed. Went to chapter two. Loved it. Kept reading. When I got to the final page, at midnight, I was pretty pissed.

Why?

Well for one, that it was motherfucking midnight!

Two. . .why did you leave us right there? :-( I wanted more!

So I bought The Arrangement #2

I see you Ms. H.M. Ward. I see you, you cheeky little wench.

You got me addicted and now here I am like a crack head knocking back at your door for the next hit!

It pisses me off to no end that she didn't just put the whole thing as one novel. . .BUT

I will read the next. . .I'll follow you down the rabbit hole Ms. H.M. Ward.

Oh, yeah. I'll follow you, but there better be a goddamn caterpillar smoking weed and a Queen of Hearts slicing the heads off of insulters when we get to the end!!

The plot thickens. . .

$2.99 for about one hundred pages. Yep, you guessed it, it's time for another round of "Let's Gouge the Reader!" I'm sorry, but I can get a professionally edited, professionally published romance for less than eight dollars. Why would I pay nine or more dollars for a series of sloppily written chapters? There's not even verification that the author finished the story before posting installments. What if she loses interest, or even more likely, inspiration? I'd be stuck with a bunch of chapters and no resolution.

If I want stories that have no promised end date, I'd go back to reading fan fiction. FOR FREE.

And what does my $2.99 get me?

Yet another self-pubbed author who can't be arsed to learn the proper way to use speech tags.

“Yes,” pointing ahead, huffing.

"Pointing ahead" is not a speech tag. One cannot speak with any part of the body that is also used to point (well, I suppose one could point with one's tongue - but not really.)

“Yeah,” I nod.

"Nod" is also not a speech tag. A nod is a non-verbal affirmative communication. Ipso facto, a nod is incapable of uttering the word "yeah."

“You want me to help?” he glances at the car and then back at me.

As anyone who graduated fourth grade with more than a C average can tell you, the proper way to punctuate that sentence is: "You want me to help?" He glances at the car and then back at me.

Or

"You want me to help?" he says, and glances at the car and then back at me.

And then there's the repeated:

“What else happened?” She asks

The power of capitalization is a curious thing. Makes one reader weep, makes another one sing. And I am WEEPING, people. WEEPING.

The set up is something we've seen a thousand times. Avery is super poor, y'all. So poor that her crappy car stalls at every stop light in New York City, yet somehow is still a target for multiple car jackings. Funny, in my city, it's the expensive cars that get stolen, but whatever. Let's pretend this is realistic. Like that a super poor college student would want or need a car in New York City in the first place.

OF COURSE when Avery's car is stolen, a totally hot and rich guy helps her. OF COURSE.

Later, Avery whines about having to work so hard and study so hard. She has a scholarship to college that requires her to keep a 3.5 GPA (most scholarship programs of which I am aware require only a 3.0. Just sayin'). She gives her, "As you know, Bob" speech to her gorgeous friend Melony, who is putting on sparkly earrings to go to work at a hotel late in the evening.

I'll give you three guesses what Melony does to make money, based on that description. And you'll have two left over.

Avery, of course, even though somehow she has earned a scholarship to college, has zero clue about Melony's work. No wonder she has to work so hard to maintain that 3.5. Making smart observations is not exactly in her wheelhouse.

And guess who Avery's first client is? Does he like to ride motorcyles and tell girls chasing after stolen cars that their car has been stolen? Toldja you wouldn't need the additional two guesses.

Then boom! "Story" is over, until the next gouge installment comes out.

If this is indicative of the quality the self-publishing revolution will bring us, then I think we're past the storming of the (New York publishing) Bastille and well into the Terror.

Sexy, exciting start to a fun New Adult series of novellas!!

No family. Almost no one to depend on or have her back. Struggling to maintain her grades in order to keep her scholarship, while working every other minute of the day with minimal earnings to show for it. A car that stops running when red lights linger too long. You could say Avery Stanz is in trouble and running out of options. With everything in her life taking a turn for the worse, there is absolutely no room for a guy. Funny, then, that when Sean Ferro rescues her and her car on several occasions, Avery can't seem to stop thinking about the gorgeous stranger. If only she had the time and energy to pursue that interest and find out where it could lead. But, Avery is in a fairly desperate financial situation with seemingly no way to win. Or, so she thinks. When Avery is presented with a morally questionable opportunity to solve her money troubles as a high-dollar call girl, all it takes is one glance at the potential client for her to say...yes.

The Arrangement is a great start to a new series from author H.M. Ward! The storyline is sexy and a bit edgy. The characters are human and imperfect, though, naturally, *very* attractive;) One thing this author does especially well, in my opinion, is sexual tension and chemistry. That can make or break a story like this, for me, and H.M. Ward definitely delivers!

I do wish this book had been just a bit longer. In fact, a part of me thoroughly dislikes these installment stories altogether. BUT, I also understand the idea behind these popular and overly-abundant novella series which continue to appear in every genre. Each story grabs us just a little bit harder and keeps us waiting excitedly and impatiently for the next book to come. H.M. Ward has assured that's the case here! I'm on the hook and being reeled in!! So, when can I expect my next fix?!?!

Waiting for more of this...

Avery, our poor little struggling college student with a spray-start car and a vile roommate just can’t get a break. She is close to losing her scholarship and needs to make some money quickly. Avery’s friend, Melony introduces her to a job opportunity she just may not be able to refuse.

Then we have hot mysterious Motorcycle Man, Sean; he came to Avery’s rescue when her car was jacked and he left a lasting impression on Avery.

However, there is something very unusual about Sean as Avery finds out when she decides to accept the job as an escort and Sean is her first client. Why would a young, extremely attractive man request a virgin as an escort?
When Sean discovers Avery is his escort, he is not happy and wants to break off the arrangement until Avery convinces him not to. Now they have to make a new arrangement. What will it be? Guess what?? We have to wait until the next volume to find out.

Arghh… I dislike volume style books and I have expressed my sentiment to Ms. Ward about this. However, I have loved everything I have read by H.M. Ward previous penname, Ella Steele and I know I will definitely want to read the rest of Avery and Sean’s story.

For the perfect character pictures, please see the wonderful Jenny Levine's review Click here for a peek at Sean and Avery

I said I wasn't going to read these, because I thought it was ridiculous of Ms. Ward to demand 2.99 for an installment (which apparently she is drawing out to capitalize on as much money as she can- since there are now 10 installments). at 2.99 a pop, that means that for $29.99 you have read all ten installments (with apparently more to come)- legit best selling authors don't even get that much for honest Hard-Cover books let alone E-Books, let alone 20,000 word installments! Ive stopped at six because I realized I would much rather spend sixteen dollars reading either a handful of decent books or two books from good authors than be swindled out of reading anymore of these.

Yes, her story idea is a good one, and her writing is decent (grammatical errors, plot holes and lack of attention to detail not-withstanding). However, I won't tolerate an author who draws out these installments for the sake of financial gain, and in doing so is lifting story lines from other authors and movies just so that she can pad these stories and fill in the holes. I can tell what books and/or movies Ms. Ward has been watching or reading during each of these installments. Did you think no one would notice that you have essentially lifted scenes from Pretty Woman and inserted them into this book? Escargot and a red dress? Really?

A gross disappointment. If I had spent even $5.99 on the full novel (not these ridiculous installments) and I would have noticed the story similarities I probably would have looked the other way- however, it is egregiousness in its highest form to continue to pillage from your dedicated readership by serving them repurposed plots that don't even belong to you.

THERE IS NO SEX!!!
This is a long winded, repeated scene after scene, butt-ass-boring attempt by an author to make the following into a novella:

There's a girl. She's a virgin. She's alone in the world. She has no money. She's close to losing her only chance at getting ahead. She didn't know her friend was a call girl. She does now.

She meets a guy. Guy is supposed to be smart, wealthy and cute. He comes across as an idiot. He's supposed to be deep and mysterious. He comes across as an idiot. He wants a virgin. He'll pay for it. He is an idiot.

She takes offer to be his call girl. He doesn't know she's going to be served up as his virgin. They're both idiots. This is supposed to be a climatic moment when they meet as john/hooker for first time. Like everything in this book - no climax is reached by anyone. Ever.

The End.

I only read this for a GR reading challenge. This sucked.

Wish I had known that this author pays for reviews - at least I would've gotten something out of it then...

I have no idea what this is book is going to be about, but it has three things that make me want to read this...like now:

1. The Author Rocks
2. The Cover is Gorgeous
3. Labeled as "New Adult" which I've been loving this genre lately.

BRING IT :)

-----

Update: So this book has come out and I want to read it...BADLY! However, I'm not a fan of novellas or having to wait for the full story. I hate cliffhangers as it is. It's too bad, but I'm going to wait until all of them are out. :((

Wow this book had me from the very first page.
Avery Stanz is a college student with a scholarship that's in peril of being taken away from her.
It is her only means of staying in school.
She has no one to support her.

 photo image_zpsbe15c53d.jpg

I'm alone. In a city of millions, on a campus of thousands, in a courtyard of hundreds--I'm alone.

Working to try and pay for food and her dorm is cutting into her studies and affecting her grades.
Then her friend, Mel, introduces Avery to her boss, Miss Black.
Miss Black runs an escort service.

Sean Ferro is the tall, dark, and handsome motorcycle man, Avery keeps running into when her car continuously breaks down on the streets of Manhattan.
There is instant chemistry between the two.
Like I had butterflies in my stomach every time these two had a chance encounter!!!

 photo image_zps3d03167a.jpg

"All right. How about this? I have never ,ever met someone who draws me in the way you do. It's everything -- the way your hair sways when you walk, the curve of your hips at your thigh, the sound of your voice, the way your eyes dart away when I compliment you -- like no one has ever told you how beautiful you are--everything about you is enticing. Like a moth to a flame."

This guy sure knows what to say to make a woman fall hard and fast!!!

At first Avery doesn't want to take the job with Miss Black, till she sees the picture of her possible client...Sean.
He's looking for the "virgin" experience!!

Something's wrong with this guy. He wants a virgin hooker. That's like the biggest oxymoron ever.

Guess what Avery will choose?!
Can't wait to read all the books in this series!!!
It's pretty damn addictive so far :)

Im giving this book a 4 because I really love the story and I want/need to know more!...but seriously I want to give it a zero because of the ending and believe me this book would be so much better off as one book! who is telling authors that these little installments are good? every book series I've read that is made of installments, I have hated for the pure fact they are not one book. There are too many books these days to be able to remember what actually happened in the previous book, so to me it just breaks up the story and breaks any connection I had with the story and characters. So to say I'm annoyed is an understatement, I can feel that this is going to be a great story but I really think it was the wrong choice to have it released this way.

There is a parallel between this book "series" and the series of dates between the hero and heroine in the book - both probably should have been for FREE.

description

I could have liked this book if the story had been edited and encapsulated in one actual book. So tired of the artificially split trilogies! The story had some promise and I enjoyed the gritty realism portrayed for the poor college girl and the surprise meeting of the main characters. But the story seemed to drift away almost as if the author wrote in line without an outline or a master plan. That is an ok approach in beginning writing BUT a decent writer will go back and tighten up their writing by pulling out redundant and excess verbiage, and make sure it all WORKS. This "work" has too many lose ends with no tightening up. Could easily have been one short story or at most one book.

I loved some of the self pub FREE fan fiction and am happy to encourage budding new authors. BUT this is out of control with the lack of editing, the artificial splitting and elongation of plots using mundane devices and cliff hangers to get more money and PR. I am actually starting to feel intellectually malnourished with the current crop of anemic short stories being passed off as books.

description

For $70 for the soft copy edition ($7 x 10) of this "single book in a series", one would expect this to be a well crafted story book.

But instead of a well crafted $70 bottle of wine,

description

one gets a partially filled bottle of home brewed ale!

description

IF I had paid the full price for this book and the 7 following books at $7.19 per paper back "edition" or the e-book $.99 (1st "teaser") through $2.99 for series 2 -8, I would have been outraged by now.

description

Because I got to read these books for free, however, I am not outraged - just merely disappointed. (I am also mildly offended for my friend however who paid $22 for the kindle series 1 - 8. Assuming she buys 9 and 10 at $2.99, she will be paying $28.00 for the equivalent of a single digital Kindle book!)

description

As someone who has been reading amateur fan fiction for years, I must say that this story is not much better than much of the former FREE fan fict. That said, it is also not up to the best of the fan fict. that I have read over the years - much of which has now been pulled to publish in the last several years.

Given what one could get for FREE in amateur works or for $7.99 in the standard quality books by established authors, I am simply amazed what people are paying for this doled out artificially created "series".

description

I think it is inexcusable to not write a story and go back and edit and revise it to make it one comprehensive and cohesive story and book and then publish it and be done!

In fan. fict., where there is live development, stories take time and are "published" piece meal as they are works in progress. The Arrangement is not being published live and so there is absolutely no reason or justification, other than to milk the reader, to make this a series.

For established and mainstream authored books, a series is usually comprised of individual fully developed length books that have a complete story with resolution OR a trilogy would be a VERY long and complex story that requires due to length a division in publication. Each book may explore different people or build upon one another but again each book can largely stand alone.

There is absolutely no justification for this to be a series when each "book" is very short and there is no resolution to an individual story and the characters have basically stayed the same through out - except again to milk the readers.

description

It is a generally poorer quality book (and almost any product as a matter of fact) that results from a linear seat of the pants, piecemeal development plan. Quality requires a master plan, continuous review and editing, and testing BEFORE release to the consumer. Even books with a stream of consciousness style are not actually developed from a stream of consciousness!

I am offended for all readers who have come to the this table month after month, having paid full price and patiently waiting with expectation, only to be served one course of warmed over left overs. Leftovers, which in this case at least promise some flavor, but often blandly fulfill the caloric requirement but are never fully satisfying.

description

I am mildly offended for my friend who has not only been strung along but also has been pinched for a total of $22 so far for the kindle editions 1 - 8 with no end in sight.

description

I don't give 1 star reviews because either I do my research and just simply avoid anything that bad, or I just stop reading the book and don't bother even remembering it no less bothering with a review unless it is a new book and I feel compelled to warn my friends or more it is so bad that I am wildly mad about being ripped off.

I so agree with the one reviewer who put it so well : "If this is indicative of the quality the self-publishing revolution will bring us, then I think we're past the storming of the (New York publishing) Bastille and well into the Terror."

Heaven forbid that we end up with the tyranny and greed of the mob writer destroying both the long standing publishing houses (which we rely on for quality mainstream books) and the destruction of the self publishing business which had the promise of being an alternative outlet of new and revolutionary intellectual, sexual, and creative writing.

I am not giving this "book" or the other "books" in this inflated "series" a one star review because I got to read the books in a few sittings (VS going hungry for months), and for free (VS paying over inflated prices for a "piece" of a book), and because it was mildly entertaining.

description

I am however not giving it a higher rating than 2 stars, even at the free rate, because I am not at all satisfied with the quality of work and the lack of an ending YET AGAIN as this series continues with no end in sight ...

Wow! Why haven't I read this series until now? It's been on my kindle since 2013. I was intrigued from the very first chapter, and my curiosity and interest grew as I tuned each page. I've never read anything quite like it. I absolutely could not stop reading. Now book 2 is mine! Loving this series!

This is a really good series that had me completely hooked but I'm hoping the author offers a box set. It would be a shame for people to miss out on this series because it costs over $68 for one story broken up into 23 parts at $2.99 each. I was fortunate that a family member loaned me the books.

Overall Rating = 2 Stars
Book Cover / Book Blurb = 4 / 3 = 3.5 Stars
Writer’s Voice = 1.5 Stars [lowering to 1.5 from 2.5 for typo's]
Character Development = 3 Stars
Story Appreciation = 2 Stars
Worth the Chili = 1 Stars [$2.99 on Amazon]

Well, this is one of those series told over several novella's. Hence, the "worth the chili" rating reflect the price versus length of story. Take into account, if you complete the entire 6 book series, you will have spent about $18 for about 700 pages or $.04 / page. Seriously? Are we really that stupid?

This novella was mediocre at best. It had an interesting premise, but the characters were pretty ordinary. I won't be continuing the series and doubt I'll read any others by her.

I'm in the minority .. again. Many, MANY have liked this series to an exorbitant degree. I didn't. I don't get it, but that is quite alright. I hope you enjoy this book [if you read it], much more than I did.

Happy Reading!

DNF @ 50%

This is the only book - and I use the term loosely - I have not finished this entire year!! I am truly at a loss for words because I can not believe how popular this series is. The story is ridiculously absurd and the writing is mediocre at best. I am so over the innocent virgin meets mysterious rich bad boy that if I'm going to read it, it better be spectacular. This. Was. Not. However, the nail in the coffin is that this is book 1 in a series of 12 novellas so far (all which are 60-70 pages long) that cost $2.99 each!!! Rip off much ?!?!? There aren't many ebooks I'd consider paying nearly $40 for and from what I've read of The Arrangement it is not even in the same literary stratosphere as those I'd loosen my purse strings for. So instead of wasting my time and money on this farce of a series I think I'll watch paint dry. It would likely be more riveting and a hell of a lot cheaper!!

Not sure if I like these installment reads...but I was certainly hooked. I think I will have to ensure they are all out first though.

I was hooked on this by the concept alone. I mean what are the chances that the one guy that sparks an interest ends up being a client? I like Avery, she has a bit of sass and is broken. But Sean is even more broken, which is my undoing.

I will most likely end up reading everything from this author if the others are anything like this!

Indifferent.

That's how I feel about this book. Just plain indifferent. I sort of expected more from this novella (which I shouldn't have since this plot has just been recycled so many times that it's getting ridiculous). I didn't enjoy the book as much I would have preferred to and I think it's because nothing really amazed me or grabbed my attention.

Nothing really happens other than the two main characters (Avery and Sean who resemble nothing more than card-board cut-outs) meeting and that's it. Oh, wait. I forgot. There was the "morally wrenching" ultimatum that Avery had: to be or not to be a callgirl.

Other than that, it was all a bore. The love interest, Sean, was like the hundred other males I've met and Avery was the typical virgin heroine. *Yawn*. I mean, c'mon, the most interesting character in the novella was Miss Black. I want to know her story. I want to read about her. I want her to finally have her last chance at love. She's interesting. *Hint, hint, Ms. Ward*

You know how people say that you just have to watch a trailer to see what the entire movie is going to be about in less than two minutes? Well, that's how I felt about The Arrangement. The blurb says it all. Like literally. I know this is a novella but just because it's short doesn't mean the author can't add a little special something to it.

My Avery and Sean

Sorry this was my original review and gave the book 4 stars:What do you do when you have no where to go, no family to turn to, no money and no options. When Avery first meets Sean Ferro she has reached that point and worse. When fate leads her to a job as one of New York's high priced call girls and Sean is her first client things start out heated and only ramp up from there. Sean is elusive, rich, has a face and body women would do anything for. Why would he need a call girl, especially requesting she be a virgin. This first story takes you through their first encounters before that fateful meeting. You will enjoy the humor and light banter between the two as the obvious chemistry flashes between them. A quick read and one you won't want to put down. Thankfully the remaining books in the series are complete so there is no waiting to find out what happens next.

I have changed my mind when after investing nearly $30.00 and 8 books later (only about 100 pages each) I got so frustrated and contacted the author to find out when the series would end. This was her reply to me on her facebook page.

H.M. Ward not sure. it's the only series i have that is fan driven, meaning if the fans ask for more, there are more. 9 is NOT the last volume

It isn't that the readers are driving the series, she is by never finishing the story with each episode. You have to buy the next book just to find out what happens to the characters. Most series at least leave you satisfied when you reach the end and fill you with anticipation for the next in the series. She doesn't, she just leaves you frustrated. Don't bother with the series.

From the description and tags I expected some sort of erotic story, New Adult, romance... This was a lot of set-up, that went absolutely nowhere. I am assuming that there is another installment, where this story continues to its conclusion. Or two or three or four installments... Can you get back to me, when you have a full length novel with a beginning, middle and end? Thanks.

This is wow. Completely obsessed. It's short- a series with ten parts so far- but I knew that going in. This got better and better with every page and then by the end- gah! So at 530am I bought part two and started reading.
I told you, obsessed. I'm going to be useless all day today.

"Surviving justifies anything."

REACTION AFTER READING THE BOOK

4 happy sweet and sexy hearts!

That was a pretty good read!

I would have to say that for a short 118 pages, I was drawn and captivated!!

HERE'S THE GIST

If you would ask Avery how she would describe her life right now... She'll probably say..

Nothing is going right in her life. She's struggling with her rent, with school fees, her grades, and also with her shit of a car that stalls on her whenever it gets the chance. She got no one to catch her back if she loses her scholarship or if she loses her job. So basically, she was screwed.

Just when her car decided to give her hell and an opportunistic carjacker stole her car, she meets hot, blue-eyed, motorcycle-riding Sean Ferro.

She thought she'd never see him again. But then, fate has a different plan for them.

FIRST IMPRESSIONS

I'm a sucker for good covers and honestly, this book has a good, simple and sexy cover and add to that, a very intriguing blurb! What more can you ask for right?

Sooo.. Oh and I was a bit worried that since its short book, it might not be as good or it might lack substance or be forced to fit into a short novella. Good thing is, it has 11 more books on this series! I'm kind of worried about that too because it would cost you to spend more than what it will cost to just buy one complete book but what the heck right? If the book is good... JUMP RIGHT AHEAD AND SPLURGE!

MEET THE MAIN CHARACTERS

Avery

"My life is slipping away. I can feel it shifting beneath my feet like sand. I'm sick of it. I'm sick of everything."

Things were just really bad for Avery but she doesn't give up. I mean not every girl would ran after her car after its been carjacked right? LOL. She's strong and a very likeable character. She work decent jobs to make a living and support herself. It is very admirable really. She works extremely hard for her money. She wasn't the slutty type of girl also which is why I loved her. She was a bit flirty with Sean but it was all cool. It didn't sound slutty or desperate at all. *high five girl!*

Also I like her morals. She protects herself from stuff that might harm her. She thinks. She wasn't stupid at all. She thinks about stuff before jumping into any life changing decision like when she accepts that job from Ms. Black. She thought about it throughly. She didn't grab the opportunity immediately even though she knew she would make instant cash with it. She thought it through. Weighed the pros and cons before saying yes to something that might change her life forever.

Oh and did I fail to mention how this girl ran after her car that got carjacked? How crazy is that? Good thing Mr. Hot-and-Steamy Motorcycle Man was there to let her ride the motorcycle instead.

Sean

“Nothing, it’s just that I don’t even know your name, and then I try to kiss you after you had the worst day of your life. That’s kind of scummy of me.”

Meet Mr. Motorcycle/Biker guy. Who wouldn't want a steamy-smoking-hot biker guy to save/help us when our car gets stolen right? Not that I have any car but seriously, if that happens to me (hopefully though I get a decent car and not like Avery's) I'd want a knight-in-shining-motorcyle to help me!! Oh God please!! I want one!

Anyhow.. What is it about Sean? Well he's unpredictable. Don't get me wrong. He isn't moody or inconsistent or bipolar or anything. He was just mysterious in a way. He was outgoing and have a good chemistry with Avery but.. There was something else about him that isn't easily seen. He shows a different side of himself towards the end of the book.

Aside from being extremely hot and goodlooking.. LOL.. He is also quite rich. But of course you wouldn't know that on their first meeting. He was very laid back that if you look at him you'll probably won't know that he is extremely rich. You wouldn't think he was someone who will be able to buy a companion. That is one thing that confused me about him. Why the hell will be buy a companion when A LOT (not exaggerating) would want to do that for free? That is what I am itching to know really!!

Sean + Avery = Flirty and Cute... My Mistake.. Flirty and Sexy!

I love this couple. I mean you don't get to see much though as this is just the first part of the series and its a little too short to say. But from as far as I can tell.. Everything is innocent.. At least for now I think. Hehe.

So there was kissing..

You'd feel the electricity. So much chemistry!

I smile, saying, “Sean Jones, chivalrous motorcycle man with only one pair of pants.”
He laughs and I smile in response. I step closer to him and look up into his crystal blue eyes. I take his jacket in my hands and pull him to me. Sean doesn’t hesitate this time. When I press my lips to his, he kisses me back. It’s so sweet and gentle that I want to die. That kiss makes every part of me feel light, like I’ll float away. When his hands find my face, he holds me gently, trailing his finger along my jaw and back into my hair. It’s a sweet kiss, a chaste kiss, but it leaves me breathless and wanting more.
Sean steps away from me and reaches for his helmet. “Your kiss is addictive, Avery Smith.”

I just loved that. And aside from that... There was flirting and cute exchanges of words. It was just so cute but at the same time it was sexy!

“Thanks.”
“No problem. Glad I was here.”
I glance up at him. “Me too. I mean, I’m glad I didn’t have to push the car out of traffic by myself.”
He’s smiling at me. I let me eyes slip over his body and try not to drool. My God, he’s beautiful. “Like what you see?”
My face flames red as my eyes widen. “Wow, you’re blunt.”
“Sometimes it pays off, and other times…” he shrugs.
“Other times what?”
“Other times it gets me smacked.”

Oh geez! I really love them together. I wonder how they will be like though on the next book.

FINAL VERDICT

Okay so based on what I have been saying earlier, I could safely say that this book took me unexpectedly! It was cute and short and funny and sweet and interesting. I guess it helps that it was short because sometimes I get bored easily. Sometimes, I start a book and is quite interested until about half of the book when it becomes too slow and dragging that I'd have to stop the book. Glad I wouldn't have to suffer that with this series!

I couldn't really comment much on the writing because I couldn't find any faults on it nor can I find any annoying use of punctuations and all that. So basically, the writing was all good! Let me correct myself, the writing was addictive!

The story itself was simple. I guess it was a little clicheish with the fact that Sean was a rich guy and Avery was a poor girl. I don't want to think that Avery would be like another Cinderella story. I hope not. That type of story is so overused it will make me puke if I read another one. Not sure if the second book would be like that but.. Let's just hope its not because I'll be really disappointed.

Sean.

Need I say more?! :)

Well okay.. I have a few more things to say actually. I wish.. This book was just a standalone. Just one and everything in it so that you won't have to buy the next one but then I guess in time it will be annoying because you have to keep on buying and buying until you finish the book. It was like a telenovela that will keep you on your toes until the end.

This is really an interesting book and I can't help but feel really excited about the rest of the books. I haven't gotten to reading them yet because I still think whole books are better. I just wish the author would just opt to have it on one book. It would be so much cost effective and more readers would be happy!! :)

Also, I would just like to make a comment that I don't think there is anything wrong with what Avery's friend is doing and also what she just started doing. It is way better than stealing or carnapping or whichever illegal stuff out there to get money. This seems legit. Hopefully it is really though. I don't want Avery to get into trouble as I really liked her.

If you guys are looking for full blown smutty sex here then you're in for a big disappointment. You won't find it here. At least not yet though. It might be in the next books.. It would be up to us to find out though isn't it? :)

RECOMMENDATION: I recommend!! :)

Just when I thought H.M. Ward's books couldn't get any better..well I've been proven wrong before. Every time I start another book written by H.M. Ward I go in feeling like my mind is going to be blown and I will be taken on the ride of my life. The Arrangement did just that and I can not wait for the second installment.

Avery's life starts off as a giant suck fest. Her car breaks down every time she gets to a stop light or sign, the heater doesn't work, and the car window doesn't go up. One night as she's fixing her car a thief gets in and takes off with it. At that point she starts running after her stolen piece of crap car with all her worthy belongings in it, and into a hot stranger on a motorcycle. After he helps her get her car back he disappears and she thinks she'll never see him again.

However, even after her car incident Avery still can not catch a break. When she's not working she's at school, struggling to keep her scholarship and getting nothing below a B on anything. Becoming desperate her best friend Mel tells Avery about her job, a job in which goes against all of Avery's morals. However, when Avery finds out the man she's to be arranged with will be the hottie motorcyclist she's willing to put aside what she thinks is right to survive.

Seriously, I really connected with Avery, just as I do with all of Holly's characters. Avery's college roommate situation is a lot like mine was. I dealt with everything from hoarding, whoring, alcohol, drugs, nudity, late night outings, theft, and a array of other things that sucked to high heaven. It sucked so I really felt close to Avery more as a character. I loved her best friend Mel, she's a girl of color and that always makes me happy when there are ethnic characters in books.

Favorite Quote:
“Strange things?” I grin. “Such as?”
“You have a spray start car, for starters. That’s not
something I see every day. Second, you chased your car
after getting it jacked, which was something, especially
since you had every intention of getting you car back.
When you consider that the car has no monetary value, it

makes me wonder why you’d risk your life for it. And
after much consideration, I’ve decided you’ve filled the
tires with gold and that is the reason why you couldn’t
possible part with this beast, and it also explains why you
go through ether cans like hairspray.”

Yes ladies and gentleman she has done it again! If you are worried that The Arrangement is going to be to similar to the Secrets series then get that thought out of your head now. It starts out completely different taking a turn I didn't expect. Avery is a college student who lost her family and has been on her own for a while. She is on scholarship at school and is having a hard time keeping her GPA up while working in order to eat. Her grades start slipping because she has to work so much. She is sick of scraping by and is ready for a change. Her friend Mel offers her a chance to change her life. To work less hours and make far more money. But, can Avery compromise her morals and beliefs to do what Mel does? Being a call girl was something she never even considered. Until now.

During the beginning of the book we meet Sean. The gorgeous blue eyed night in shining armor. Well mystery man on a motorcycle says it better. When Avery gets car jacked..again..Sean is there to help her chase them down and get her car back. He keeps popping up in random moments and Avery can't get him off her mind. The new job opportunity makes everything change. Can they continue to see each other when things get complicated and secrets are revealed?? I don't know because it ended to soon!!!

The Arrangement started out with a bang and I can't wait to see whats going to happen in this story. It seems to me its going to be a naughty story! Which I like! So bring on the next one please!

CLICK HERE TO READ MY FULL REVIEW AT READING, EATING AND DREAMING I WAS BLAIR WALDORF

The Arrangement Vol. 1 is the first volume in an intriguing, original New Adult series by H.M. Ward. In the first volume in this series, H.M. Ward introduces the characters, sets the stage, and leaves readers panting for more! Literally panting! This volume ended right when things started to heat up and I have to know what happens next. Volume 2 is scheduled to release TODAY - January 15, 2013 and I plan on purchasing and reading it the second it becomes available.

THE CHARACTERS:
Avery is a strong, kick ass character. Her life isn't easy. She doesn't have any family to lean on and her life is basically falling apart around her, but she's a fighter and she does what she can to survive. I liked her strong-willed, you-can't-keep-me-down attitude.

Sean is a mysterious character. Sean steps into this story as a knight on a white horse. He's sexy, charming, and mysterious. Throughout the story, however, readers learn that there is more to Sean that meets the eye. I can't wait to peel back his layers and discover his secrets.

I gave The Arrangement Volume 1 by H.M. Ward 4 STARS. I strongly recommend this brand new New Adult series!

-XOXO

Whoa. This took me by surprise because it turned out that I really like this one.

The Arrangement was a shoooooort read(sucks) and soooooo good(yay)!

Avery was a fun character. She's witty, naive, and exciting. I could say I relate to her in so many ways. While Sean is the oh-so-typical gorgeous boy. They meet, they had fun, and then things happen.

This was a whole lot of fun with equal parts pleasure and hot as hell. Saying I want the next story will be an understatement because I am clawing my ways to stay put until it's out. I've never been this giddy for so long.

It was ok until I found out that all 25 books are about the same couple and then I was like 'Fuck, I'm not ready for such a long commitment' and decided to stay only with this one story.
Writing was good but nothing too special. We have a virgin, possibly a bad boy and secrets on both sides.
Maybe someday I will read the rest just for fun but now? There are too many other positions I need to explore.

Part #1:

This Book was suggested to me by one of my facebook friends and I was so happy to have been directed towards it, because I'd never heard of it and I was looking for something short that I could get through within a short amount of time...

So anyway, Arrangement was the first of the many book suggestions I had received.

Anyhoo... I rather enjoyed this book. It was funny at the beginning and I really enjoyed the method the author used to introduce us to Avery and her struggles :)

Since it's a very short book and does continue in part 2 of this series, my review wont be long and worth much. There's still a huge part (I'm hoping) that needs to take place in the second book for me to honestly give a throughout opinion on this, but so far so good.

The only issue I had with this book - was the quick turn-around that Avery had regarding 'The Arrangement'... she went from never ever, in a frumpy loose-fitting pullover to slipping on silk stockings and gearing to go through with it all - way to suddenly for my taste.

The progression wasn't eased but rather rushed and since it continues in part two... I didn't find the rush necessary.

Other than that... I did enjoy the storyline. The writing is great and like I've mentioned... the humor is really good... I adore dry humor.

So if you find you are stumped for time (like I am) and can only get through some novella's... this one should definitely be on your to-read list :)

Part #2:

Part two in this series is only slightly less interesting than number one. I didn't feel the connection within this book. It was good, but only slightly more of a damper than the first. I don't actually know why this is... it may be, because in the first, lots happen, but honestly, from the start of this part to the end, it felt like it was a filler read... and boy do I hate filler's. I guess what I'm saying is that number #1 and number #3 could have been combined, half & half with the second one. The only interesting part in this book is, is that Avery actually does become a hooker and that's all that changes in this second part in the series.

Part #3:

In part three, the story progresses somewhat. The secrets are revealed, but... it's not a shocker. I became annoyed by the amount of times Avery (or the author actually) said "Sean"... it became repetitive. Here's an example:

"To my surprise, Sean says the next line of the song. I smile at him. Sean continues to recite the verse and soon his words turn to song. The velvety sound of his voice sounds perfect. Sean pulls me to his chest and sings just for me."

"I stare into Sean’s eyes, unable to blink, unable to breathe. This feels real. I don’t know what to say. “You get to be with me as much as you want. You bought me, remember?” Sean’s eyes dart back and forth between mine. His hand strokes my cheek again. The sensation makes my eyes close briefly as his warm fingers trail across my chilled skin. “But it’s not like this.” Before I can ask him what he means, Sean’s lips are on mine. He kisses me fiercely, pressing his mouth firmly to mine. His hands rove my body, carefully moving over areas that no one is supposed to touch. His hands slip over the curve of my hips and under my sweater. I feel Sean’s cold fingers press against the small of my back. I arch toward him and Sean pulls me tighter. He kisses me like he’s never going to get another chance."

It got to the point where it began to annoy me and it really irritated me when I started to notice it... and this set the mood for the entire third part of the book. I mean... if it's only the two of them in a room, we don't need to be reminded that it's Sean she's with... I don't think any reader would have forgotten who had his hands down Avery's pants lol...

Other than that, I didn't really like the way it ended. I think short stories should conclude to a point in each part... at least finish one drama and then in the next move to another, but these seemed to end right on the edge and although that guarantees I'll read the next to find out what's happening, it's drawn out too long. Now with the fourth installment not even listed on GR yet, I have no idea when it's set to release and I'm afraid that by the time it does, I'd have forgotten that I wanted to know what happened when the third part ended...

Overall Conclusion: I'm interested... don't get me wrong. I did enjoy it and I immediately picked up the second and third book, after the first... but it's becoming drawn out. It should either have been longer or it should have had a conclusion by now. There's not one happy moment in this series so far... it's actually rather depressing... and right now... I'm feeling down and out with negative emotions.
