Emma feels she knows the real Tyler, but he holds something back from her. Breaking every unwritten boyfriend rule, Emma’s small world is shattered when she enters Tyler’s. It’ll take the senior kids and senior citizens of the donut club to unmask the problem between Emma and Tyler and show them what’s real.

I personally liked this a little more than the first. I like that we got to see their relationship more because in the first one I wasn't super... rooting for them? I don't know. But I thought the story was pretty good, along with some of the mysteries. Either I'm super deductive or it's a little predictable on what they were. It was still super fun to figure it out though.

There was nothing inappropriate, no suggestive jokes, no scenes. She did kind of try telling him— without using any obvious words— that she didn't want to go further than kissing. One of her friends, who isn't really in it, is in rehab for smoking and drinking. The character is around eighteen. Over all I think this series is great for twelve and up, so far.

➫My Thoughts: I had mixed feelings while reading the first half of 𝘙𝘦𝘣𝘦𝘭 𝘞𝘪𝘵𝘩 𝘢 𝘉𝘰𝘺𝘧𝘳𝘪𝘦𝘯𝘥. Tyler and Emma's physical affection (mostly kissing), a few suggestive comments, and way too much school drama bothered me. Fortunately, the second half was so much better! I loved seeing the Donut Club as friends, they are awesome and remind me of my friend group in real life! Can't wait to read Book 3!

Anyway back to THIS review...

🩷Emma's Parents: It was exciting to learn more about them in this book, since they weren't in much of 𝘙𝘦𝘣𝘦𝘭 𝘞𝘪𝘵𝘩 𝘢 𝘋𝘰𝘯𝘶𝘵. I really liked them, they were so supportive of Emma! In so many books, parents can be presented in a negative light, and I loved that the author didn't do that.
🧡Chloe: UGHHHHH I do not like this girl. That's all I'm gonna say.
💛Chelsey: She ended up being sooo sweet! I loved how she was quietly looking out for Emma throughout the book.
💚Kurt: Didn't mind him! I could see him and Chelsey getting together in the future.

4.5 ⭐️ I have never squealed over that many quotes before. 🤭👏This book was so good! Everything was so well written and I loved the dialogue between our main characters. This writing was really good. I can’t stop thinking about some of the things Tyler said tbh
There is a tiny tiny spoiler incoming btw………………ok so I know that there will need to be drama in books, but this was actually sad and I didn’t like it! If that wouldn’t have resolved itself, I wouldn’t like this as much. I’m a fan of happily ever afters 🙂

It was fun but felt kind of... unnecessary. I liked that we found out more about Tyler's dad's side of the family but the whole billionaire boyfriend plotline wasn't really needed.
I like how the book was planned out but it felt like Tyler didn't need that much of a background. It felt kind of out of character or unexpected according to his buildup in the first book. Overall, it wasn't boring and the donut club was back so I enjoyed it!

I really enjoyed the first book in the series and was surprised to see that there were two more books that followed the same set of characters so I was looking forward to reading this one and well it’s written well you know I didn’t find tons of grammatical errors, I felt it was written age appropriately But it just started losing my interest with all this stupid drama with the mail main character Tyler, and he has this whole other life with his dad where there are these you know which Mogul and all this crap and you know I know that she likes Tyler and everything but I would not put up with half of that crap. I mean she really put up with a lot of freaking toxic behavior and abuse And I just did not see the relationship and what she was getting out of. It was really worth it she just kept sacrificing sacrificing sacrificing and I didn’t feel he was doing the same so yeah didn’t really enjoy this one as much you know 1718 year-old on a reality show I don’t know it’s just you know it where the first book felt so innocent but also realistic the second book added these elements that were due just to fantastic and didn’t it didn’t feel in line with the characters we met in the first book so I didn’t enjoy it as much and I don’t even know if I’m gonna start or finish the third book

While this book didn't capture my heart and make me laugh as much as the first in the series, I still loved it! I started reading and couldn't put it down, staying up past midnight to finish.

The pacing and flow of the story was perfect. The story caught my attention immediately and held it until the last page.. Typically I get easily frustrated with the miscommunication trope, but I think it worked well in this book, though I did feel that the "big reveal" was dragged out too much. I also think things were maybe resolved a little too easily, but I honestly loved how it ended. Overall it was a such a great story with amazing characters and I can't wait for the next book in the series!

The overall storyline of the book was cute. I loved how the characters from the first book were integrated throughout the story even though they all weren’t together in Florida anymore. I quite enjoyed the text conversations, especially when the Grandma’s chimed in and misunderstood what text abbreviations actually stood for. Quality entertainment.

When reading a Chrissy Q Martin book you know you are in for an emotional ride that you never want it to stop!!! Love love her writing style she always keeps you on your toes and gives you a laugh along the way and she did not hold back on the one. The characters have really grew in this book. This books teaches you that sometimes you are put into something that you my not be comfortable with but you will be able to make it. Love it you should give it a try!!!!!

Rebel with a Boyfriend is a YA romance novel and is the second book of the Running on Love and Donuts Series. Like the first book, it is written from the perspective of Emma, a teenage girl continuing her journey of self-discovery. After coming home from her summer in The Villages, Emma learns to navigate a new school year with her summer crush, Tyler. In pursuit of balancing school, her first real boyfriend, and new friendships, she uncovers truths that have her wishing summer never ended. Martin once again captures the awkward, emotional moments of being a teenager as Emma faces pressures that force her to unveil what she truly wants while also staying true to herself. Like the last, this book continues to feature themes of identity and self-worth. Her evolving romance pushes Emma to grow in new ways becoming more secure in her identity and sets the stage for the next book in the series that has Emma facing bigger challenges and pressures to make commitments. I would once again recommend this book to mature readers who enjoy stories of personal growth and first love.
