Azure is dying and Ocher is gone. For him, there's nothing left to live for and no reason to try. He's biding his time, waiting for his death that should have come two years ago.
It's been a year since Ocher left to figure who he is away from Azure's all-consuming influence, but being away from him hasn't been as easy or as freeing as he'd hoped. With not much time left, Azure agrees to do one last thing for Haithen and find out the reason people fear the area to the east.
Unable to refuse Azure, Ocher reluctantly joins him in hopes of fixing what he left broken, and while Azure knows pulling Ocher back into his life isn't fair, one last chance to be with the person he loves isn't something he's willing to give up, no matter the fallout.
I couldn’t finish this book. It was recommended to me based off of other books I’ve enjoyed but it reads like it’s written for young readers. The writing style is simplistic and clunky, I think if I hadn’t been on a Daphne Du Maurier binge it might have been more tolerable. I don’t think either of the main characters are likeable, I would pick it up again if I was desperate but it doesn’t offer the escapism id been hoping for.
Had given one star have amended after realising it is indeed for young readers! My bad.
