4.75 stars. What a delightful story!
I’m not sure why, I really thought I started a sweet cozy romantic story, the first page gave already these trigger warnings: Injury Attempted Murder Blood Stalking Car Accident Head Injury Violence Death or Dying Kidnapping and Abduction!!
Oh well, I just had to adjust my expectations LOL.

The start was immediately great and catching!

Daniel lands in a plight, quite seriously injured after falling down the landslide, he’s all alone.
After getting rescued he ends up in a B&B managed by an older lady Beth.
With Beth, we meet also her relatives and what an amazing family they are. One of them is her nephew Joseph. Joseph, who is ranger and works on the rescue squad.

Daniel wanted to stay in the friend zone with Joseph. I was a bit disappointed because Joseph was a catch. Serious, he was everything you could ask for, a beautiful man with a bronze, muscled body and his eyes! He’s gentle, takes care of Daniel, makes the hottest promises, has patience, and needs his space. So yeah Daniel, why again?
(Okay patience is a good one, wait for it)

There’s a reason Daniel left Seattle and ended up in Beth’s B&B, it follows him and gives this story some good proportion angst and drama.
This is a story you want to read on and on until the last page. I was mesmerized by the whole picture. It was amazingly entertaining, there are so many good feelings they just overrule all the drama, pain, and angsty moments.
I adored the interfering family, can I have them?

It’s a very pleasantly written narrative, the author has a lucid way of expressing, quite appealing. The scenery was stunning, the mountain, the wildlife, the sea turtles, dolphins, orca’s, all more than stunningly to behold. We can all experience it through Daniel’s eyes.
Overall a delightful story with well-developed, engaging, explicit characters, and a super-duper plot.
There are emotional moments where I couldn’t stop my tears from falling, the beauty and secrets life has, if you open your eyes you can see them.

A loud shout out for this wonderful narrative!

This is my second five star book in two days. The plot is well written and the characters are authentic. While Daniel is out hiking and has a nasty fall on a hiking trail. He is taking some time away from Seattle because he caught his (supposedly) best friend kissing his boyfriend. He punches the friend in the nose and in one fell swoop he lost his friend, his boyfriend, and his job. He is rescued and he notices one his rescuers giving him the look. He puts it out of his mind due to being sick from exposure. A few weeks later, Daniel meets the same gentleman again. His name is Joseph. The two strike up a friendship but they both want more. But both men have been hurt in the past and there trust issues. But Daniel’s past is stalking him. Someone is stalking him. This is going to test the resolve of the two men. I enjoy reading books from this author. Keep up the good work Mr. Allwood!

Bad luck that Daniel caught his boyfriend with a work colleague, because he is promptly fired after hitting his boyfriend. To switch off, Daniel decides to go hiking in the mountains. In the process, he falls and is injured. As he is carried down on a stretcher, he sees local park ranger Joseph for the first time.
He meets Joseph another time when the owner of the B&B where he is staying after his hospitalization invites her nephew. Daniel finds himself drawn to him.
The blurb sounded interesting and I don't mind romances that are slow burners. But here it was almost a tad too slow for me, and at some points lengths crept in where I would have liked to skip ahead because there was just so little happening.
Daniel and Joseph start dating, but someone is trying to get in the way of their happiness. On the other hand, Daniel is struggling with his upcoming court case because his boyfriend really wants to see him in jail. These passages were a bit more exciting and you can't help but wonder who is out to get Daniel.

I read an ARC copy of this book and am volunteering my honest review. The writing style reads well. The story itself is written exclusively from Daniel's point of view. I would have liked to see more depth to the love story. The book was nice to read, but nothing more.

Daniel travels to the Port Angeles mountains to drain himself of the betrayal he stumbled upon with his boyfriend Troy and friend Nathaniel in a compromising situation. Little is he aware that this fall will put him in the rescuing arms of Ranger Joseph McCoy and starts each on a journey of discovering love. This is a suspenseful tale full of wonderful characters, especially the firecrackery of Mrs. Beth, the stoicism of Kaden McCoy, and the acceptance of the town's population. Then the author throws in the mysterious elements of car accidents, attempted & accomplished murder, a psychotic villain bent on imagined revenge and this reader had a read to hold my interest. This book is the 2nd in the Romantic Series. Characters from the 1st book Romantic Renovations also make important appearances. This is my ARC review and is voluntary.

Ohh man, poor Daniel!! Daniel is put thru the ringer in the beginning of the story. One of his rescuers is Ranger Joseph. Joseph is a total sweetheart! I loved everything about this story!! The characters were fantastic, felt realistic. The mystery/suspense was a little late in starting but I feel that was because the author was doing a great job at building the relationship between Daniel and Joseph. The secondary characters are a perfect fir for the story!! Loved them all. I literally couldn’t put it down! The story is really well written, highly recommend. I am voluntarily leaving a review form an advanced copy that I received. My reviews are solely based on my thoughts and opinions.

This book was so cute. The main character Daniel was so lost but so loveable at the same time. His rescuer Joseph was a careful man as he had been burned before. Poor Daniel is just having a run of poor luck - falling down a mountain, punching his friend and a possible jail sentence hanging over his head. Joseph is the man with it all together - great job, great family and doing the things he loves. Throw them together and sparks fly. This was a great read

I loved this slow burn story! The world that this story was written in was well developed and had wonderful characters. This suspenseful story has a satisfying ending, leaving me to want more from Joseph and Daniel. This is a new to me author and I intend to go back and read the other stories in this series. I loved everything about this book! The characters, drama, the scenery and the story line had me on the edge of my seat. Daniel and Joseph are great characters that have the feels coming out. Daniel meets his knight in shining armor after an accident and Joseph is completely taken with him. Very worth wild read.

Daniel's luck is challenged by his previous best friend Nathan, when he punches him in the face after catching Nathan kissing Daniel's boyfriend and Daniel is arrested. After his release and while he awaits trial, he decides to go hiking to get his mind off this loss of boyfriend, job and the betrayal of his best friend. While hiking, Daniel takes a bad fall and almost dies while on the hiking trail. One of this rescuer's is Joseph. One look between the two of them and that is all it takes for Joseph to realize he is interested in Daniel and he goes about helping Daniel get a place to stay as he recuperates, gets him a job with Joseph's dad, introduces him to the town and helps him get reacquainted with nature. Soon both are dating and falling in love. But wait, Nathan isn't done with Daniel and still poses a threat to Daniel's freedom. Romantic Rescue has a sweet story, low angst, some mystery, found family, and has brothers reconnecting like they never gave each other the chance before. I am looking forward to the next book in the Romantic series! Enjoy.

Book: Romantic Rescue
Series: Romantic Series Book 2
Author: Blake Allwood
Editor: Blake Allwood
Release date Sept 23, 2021
Pages: 234
Genre: Gay Romance Suspense
This is the second book in the Romantic Series by Blake Allwood. I have already reviewed Book one which I found a more than a quick beach read. Yes it had sexy men, yes it had sexy times, but added was a mystery needing to be solved.

This author did not disappoint, Romantic Rescue had the same foundation and really became another good read. The authors easy writing style does help to have a firm picture of the setting, the vast Pacific Northwest in addition to the people involved, who are easy to get to know.
This story is about Daniel who has just broken up with his boyfriend. He found his best friend had his tongue down his boyfriends throat at the bar Daniel worked at. Daniel punched his friend and was arrested and the court case was tabled because Daniel unexpectedly lawyered up.
Needing to get out of town and clear his head he goes running on one of the mountain trails….He has a bad fall, realizes he has no service, and is stranded overnight with a severely broken arm. He is finally saved the next morning by Rangers and is carried down the trail, not before he catches the eye of one of the Rangers carrying his stretcher.
The blurb for this book will tell you more, I feel I need to tell you how I felt reading this sweet story. Mr Allwood’s book seems to have spiritual undertones and you know I loved it! I’ve always been a believer that there is something ‘more’ and if you do too you will love this story as I have. I’m not talking voodoo or dragons, but some things that can’t be explained like Spirit Animals and lore of that kind.
I was totally enmeshed in the people he met, the man he met Joseph and how from one fall he got a new family and a rekindled relationship with his own.

Romantic Rescue is part two of the MM/gay Romantic Series. If you like instant love, hurt to comfort gay romances, and just a touch of suspense, then you’ll enjoy this heartwarming novel by Blake Allwood.

Daniel feels like he has messed up his life. He caught his boyfriend in bed with his best friend and got so angry that he punched his friend and broke his nose. Now they are pressing charges against him. His boss fired him for being involved in such a scandal. Daniel decided to go on a hike to prove to himself that he could do something. Too bad he got caught up in a landslide and hit his head and broke his arm. He was slowly able to pull himself out of the rubble and back to the path. He even hobble to a vista with benches where he was found by some people who called in the rescue crew. One of his rescuers definitely caught his eye but he was in too much pain to do anything. After being treated in the hospital, he refuses to go back home with his older brother. He decides to stay in the town he was rescued in to get some distance from the wreck his life has become. Joseph his rescuer comes to show Daniel around and the two get closer. Joseph helps Daniel to see that not everything was his fault and he wasn't such a mess. He supports Daniel through his legal troubles and rescues him in more ways than one.

This was a good story about a man at the end of his rope and the man who rescued him. Ireceived a copy of this story and this is my honest review.

What do you do when you can't seem to catch a break? Daniel is having the worst day, ever and understandably, not handling it well. While awaiting trial, he heads to the mountains seeking solace, and trying to find a little understanding and balance, he suffers and injury. Ranger Joe, rescues Dan and they find themselves attracted to each other. Is Dan ready to put his heart on the line so soon? His legal problems are complicated, and Dan gets a little help from new friends. Just when he's feeling comfortable, he is attacked. What is going on? How many challenges does Dan need to face? Will Dan's mind break under the pressure of life's challenges? Will Dan and Joe find their peace? Can Dan's support group, support him? Good story. You want to jump in and lend Dan a hand. Nicely done! I received an ARCa and am voluntarily leaving a review.

As a fan of the Emergency TV series, especially the episodes with outdoor rescues and a fan of Nevada Barr's mysteries with park rangers, it was a sure thing I was going to read this book. The rescue scene was very well done and provided a perfect way to incorporate hurt/comfort and the meeting of Daniel and Joseph. Their connection happens fast, but is never unbelievable and the element of danger and suspense makes for a great addition that will keep you on your toes.

Looking for a story with, sweet romantic with bumps, life or death and true friendship along the way - this is your book.

Daniel has a typical settle into a new place accept the first friend that comes along. Rather then choose who is best for you. His job, friend and boyfriend all go out the window in one night. The relocation changes his workd. Joseph wants to be friends but they are both cautious. Thank god for Aunt B to speed it all up. A great dynamic of family drama & change your relationship to benefit you all. S2,V3 MM Romance. More book reviews see me @my2centsbooklover - would live to have you join me.

I really liked it!!!!! This was such a sweet romance, even with all the dark shades it has. The blurb tells you enough about the storyline, I would just say, it's well written, and the characters and their story are all really good. “I voluntarily reviewed this after receiving a free copy.”

Daniel is on a hike to try to work out the effects of a negative turn of events in his life. He caught his boyfriend Tony kissing his former friend Nathan and he unfriends and punches Nathan which leads to losing his job. And then he slides off the trail and injures himself. He is able to motivate himself back up despite being in intense pain and get himself back on the trail and part of the way down, likely saving his own life. He survives and gets help and one of the rescue folks that carries him out, Ranger Joseph turns out to be just what he needed, although he is embarrassed that he needed help. But Daniel learns that asking for help leads to lots of good things for him moving forward. He and his brother grow closer because the scare moved them to share in a way they had not previously and they really talk and come to understand one another better. He convalesces at the bed and breakfast of a nurturing and quirky woman named Beth and meets her handsome nephew, Ranger Joseph. Better days seem ahead for Daniel. Until some of the crappy people from his recent past try to derail the more positive future he is starting to look forward to. Nathan lies to try to get him put in jail. And then he is stalked and his safety is threatened. But even with that the new folks that have entered his life, including friends of Joseph's help him fight his way through to better days. It was not always easy but I liked this story because it felt so positive despite the not so great things that happened. Everything, including the not so great stuff, worked together to leave Daniel much better at the end of the story than he was when we met him.

Another new author to me, and I really liked this one. I've only just now found out that it's part of a series, I didn't read the first one so went into this not knowing anything about the first book, and I think I got enough out of this that I didn't feel lost. I was curious about Bennett though so maybe I should go and read the first book for context.

I liked the cast of characters here, although I felt a little lost with who was who at times, there were so many of Joseph's family that I just didn't know who was who at times. I'm a sucker for a sassy older lady though so I loved Beth. I did feel maybe we didn't get to know Joseph all that well, but I think that might be on me, I've read so many romance books that are dual POV, it isn't a criticism of this book, I think it's more me being spoiled by a dual POV.

I liked the slow build of the relationship between Joseph and Daniel and that they didn't just jump into a relationship blindly. This isn't high heat but there's enough spice there between the two of them. I also really liked the sub plot that was the reason Daniel ended up in Port Angeles in the first place, although I did think it was strange the ex-boyfriend never really got a mention other than in passing and it was more about the friend. I also wasn't really a fan of the final reveal about the other antagonist, I didn't really think it was necessary.

All told I really enjoyed this one, there was enough romance and suspense to keep me turning the pages until I finished. I'd definitely pick up another by this author.

I received an ARC from GRR and this is my honest review.

What did I read. This is a classic case of warning flags. First let’s start with the first warning when you describe a person of color with food. I’m sorry but not all tan or light skin brown people are Carmel. Nor do they wish to be Carmel nor they wish to be talked about like they are a piece of food. Let it slide. But then came the topic of interracial relationships no longer on the table, or being something to worry about or fight for. Interracial relationships will always be something to fight for as long as there’s racism that statement is what made me start reading to see exactly who the author was. Stupid me should have stopped there but no I kept on reading so let’s talk about the dream how the main character is having dreams and because of his indigenous ancestors that dream must have been showing him the future. Can we say stereotypes. Lord. We haven’t even talked about the story yet. The story of this whiny little brat only thinks about him and how he’s feeling. Who is stupid if you ask me. Like you know someone is out to harm you yet you still don’t want to be safe, or listen to the people, and police who are trying to help you. I can’t. I don’t even know what to say. Stupid. Then your partner who is hurting also is crying and you don’t console him. What kind of person are you.

There’s more but I think I made my point.

ARC received from GRR for an honest review.

Daniel catches his boyfriend cheating with a co-worker and after a physical altercation decides to wait out his trial date in a small town. Out on a hike he falls down the hill and breaks his arm. He has just enough energy to climb out but not enough to walk back to town. The next morning he's found on a bench and taken back to town. One of the men to carry him out of the mountains is Joseph, a local park ranger. He's immediately attracted but leery of showing his interest. While he's recovering he starts to help a Joseph's father with his carpentry business. He and Joseph get closer and start to date but someone doesn't want Daniel happy.

This was a really slow going romance that was boring in several places IMO. I started skimming pages just to get to something interesting. The romance didn't feel that deep to me and I was just wanting the book done. The stalker parts were not that exciting either. There is a big reveal at the end that was a little exciting but the lead up to it was tepid. This feels like it was supposed to be a romance/mystery but neither element quite comes through IMO. This was a miss for me but it may be a hit for others.

I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

I felt like this was a bit of a mixed bag to be honest. There were parts that I was completely hooked into reading and then slower bits where I lost a little bit of interest. The opening to the book introduces us to Daniel, who is having a terrible time - he's caught his boyfriend cheating with his friend, he's been arrested for punching said friend and (currently) he's fallen down a cliffside whilst hiking in the mountains. This action-packed opening really hooked me into the story and I liked how Daniel was eventually settled in with some interesting characters at the B&B. From then on, however, I hit a little bit of a slump as the pace slowed right down whilst Daniel and Joseph sussed each other out and began to form a connection. Yes, there were then moments later on with more drama and intrigue, but it had its ups and downs.
Despite this, the two characters had great chemistry and I liked the world created (even if it was a tad cliché at times). Overall, this is a good read for those who like a little bit of action and suspense mixed in with their romance.

This is suspenseful, romantic and entertaining. Daniel goes hiking in the national park to let off some steam. Unfortunately, he overestimated the shape he was in, and was having trouble. Then he fell, tumbling down the mountain and injuring his arm. After trying and failing to get up, he takes a nap. When he wakes up, he manages to get himself somewhere where someone will find him. He was trying to walk back down the mountain with the help of a ranger when a rescue crew arrived. On the way down on a stretcher, he looked into the eyes of one of his rescuers, and felt an immediate and intense attraction. Joseph felt the same thing Daniel felt, so he made arrangements for Daniel for his recovery. While Daniel is recovering, he and Joseph get close, but the danger Daniel is in threatens their relationship. Joseph is protective, and Daniel is blasè. It's a really interesting story with warm, likeable characters.
I received a complimentary copy of this book from the author. This is my honest and voluntary opinion of it.

Cute book. Daniel has had a truly bad week to end all weeks. He gets arrested for punching his “best friend” because he caught him kissing his boyfriend, gets fired for the same event, and then falls from a hiking trail trying to get away for a bit with a trip to nature. And then gets rescued by a handsome park ranger and put up in a B&B that just happens to belong to the aunt of the same park ranger. Talk about embarrassing. At least Daniel thinks so. This was a good book. I felt like some of the good folks of TN got a bit of a bad rap. We are not all walking stereotypes down here but this is the South. Daniel does find himself a good family in the small town of Port Angeles with Joseph and his crazy relatives. (I enjoy a good found family book.) The characters were enjoyable and the story flow was just right. I love the owner of the B&B. Some parts felt a little forced but the book was enjoyable overall.

I thought this story was good. 3.5 stars.

I liked Daniel, and I liked that he went hiking to get away from his bestfriend and his boyfriends betrayal.

I liked the spiritual and Native American aspect to Joseph and his family. I wish Daniel's visions were mentioned earlier.

I did have some problems with Daniel focusing more on Nathan then his boyfriend betraying him. I mean Tony, the supposed boyfriend, is hardly mentioned at all.

I think it would have been good to give a bit of the story how he and Nathan were friends and then let us see how they went from friends to enemies. It's would give it a bit more depth to the relationship and why it all went wrong.

I think the story had a lot of action and good characters but I needed more of first hand knowledge of the villains and their motives. Otherwise it's kind of flat and one sided.

Also the mafia stuff lost me. Should have just skipped that. But yeah aside from a few things, I enjoyed the read!!

This is an MM romance. It wasn’t quite all there for me. I think I was expecting more of a daring rescue and some more intense moments of being lost. I felt misled by the cover in some way.
What we actually get is more a stalker element that represents the real danger. Even that needed to pushed up a notch. The author was probably going for cozy mystery but either do it or don’t do it- don’t give me something a bit half hearted in between.
That aside it had all the characters to make this great, such as the small town matriarch. However I just didn’t feel it. The dialogue just didn’t feel natural enough.
It does have the romance and there was good heated scenes. There’s a bit of danger and adventure. If you want something not too serious in any direction this would be an ok pick.
I read an arc of this book and I am leaving this honest review voluntarily.

Starting over with love and life. Sometimes everything has to crash for us to start anew and Daniel certainly had that happen to him.. with literally a crash down the mountain. Daniel's stay at the B&B is wonderful and Beth is the best host and caretaker ever. Daniel has gotten to the point where he sees himself as a burden and I love how his stay with Beth and meeting Joseph makes a huge difference in his perception of his worth. Joseph's father is awesome and his bringing Daniel to work in his carpentry business was healing. I love how protective the dad is of Daniel.

There is some mystery and stress and some very bad guys but the overall story is filled with building a new life and finding love.

This is book two of the Romantic series and can be read as a stand-alone.

I was gifted this book from Gay Romance Reviews and i freely give my honest opinion and review

Left me smiling

Daniel and Joseph are two wonderful main characters who have an almost instant attraction. They take their time to become friends first before moving onto the next step in their relationship. There’s not a lot of steamy scenes but that in no way detracts from the story. Daniel has a lot going on with a past bad break up which leads to some drama suspense and a dash of angst.
That balance the romance and the suspense is well done in this engaging and enjoyable read. The cast of strong side characters really add to the story without distracting from the main characters.
After overcoming all that’s thrown at them, Daniel and Joseph got their well deserved HEA and that had me feeling warm and smiley.

Romantic Rescue is a hurt/comfort MM romance book with a bit of suspense.

After catching his best friend and his boyfriend cheating, Daniel got arrested because he punched his best friend in the face. He flees into the mountains to go hiking, but even this turns out as a disaster, as he falls and sustains a life-threatening injury. But he gets saved by Joseph. While he recovers, he and Joseph get to know each other. But can their connection survive when someone tries to kill Daniel?

This book was good. It was not something extraordinary, but I had a good time reading it. The main characters were amazing and had really good chemistry. I also liked the secondary characters, especially Aunt Beth.
Wort reading!
