Sometimes, men are impulsive in life and love. When Ronan de Wolfe, son of James de Wolfe (A Wolfe Among Dragons), marries young and impulsively, the consequences will prove to be disastrous when he meets the love of his life.
Will de Wolfe honor stand the test? Or will true love crush a man of good character?
Ronan de Wolfe, the mild-mannered but powerful son of James de Wolfe, married on a whim against the advice of his father and grandfather. He married into the powerful Northumberland de Grey family, a family that rivals the House of de Wolfe in both strength and wealth. Coerced by a cunning de Grey father, Ronan found himself married before he knew what happened.
The years pass. Ronan is married and miserable. His wife has lovers, shaming both houses. Children are born, but they are not Ronan’s. With some measure of peace on the England/Scotland borders, Ronan amuses himself in local tournaments to get away from his horrible home life. Along with his best friend, they enjoy celebrity status of the great tournament champions, but when his friend is mortally wounded and asks Ronan to take care of his pregnant wife, the situation changes drastically.
Ronan meets the woman he should have married.
Isabeth de Brito is a beautiful woman from a minor noble family. Pregnant with her dead husband’s child, she and Ronan form a strong friendship as he tends to her every need, but in Ronan’s case, it is much more. Friendship turns to love. When Ronan’s petty, foolish wife realizes Ronan is paying attention to another woman, innocent as it is, the claws come out. Her powerful family can ruin Isabeth and her family—permanently.
When Isabeth’s father is forced into finding Isabeth another husband, Ronan can only stand by and watch the woman he loves as she is courted by another man.
Will there be a happily ever after for Ronan and Isabeth? Or will Ronan have to watch his love marry another?
It’s another wild ride for de Wolfe Pack Generations.

Ronan de Wolfe is married to an unfaithful and difficult woman, but he remains true to his vows. He has children from that marriage, but are they really his?
Most of the time he lives to fight and protect his families holding on the border between England and Scotland. However when attending a joust, tragedy ensues and he takes charge of a beautiful young widow. But this causes more problems than he thought it would, and it may be that his life is going to become a lot more difficult before it’s got a chance of being better.
Excellent book from Kathryn, if you haven’t read, Wolfe Among Dragons, you may want to before this, though it’s not necessary.
Such beautiful writing in this , memorable moments with Ronan and his father Blayth/James. And a very sweet love story too. Great stuff, wonderful as always.
I am really enjoying this series. I haven’t read any of the original books. Every time I read one of the next generation ones I think I’ll have to read the others. But honestly there’s so many I find it daunting. Although I do have A Wolfe Among Dragons on my list now.
Anyway I digress. This is another good entertaining read. I felt so sorry for Ronan. Not just because he was married to that dreadful woman. But the fact that his father was content for his son to be unhappy forever. Whereas he himself had found love twice. So yes parts of this made for unsettling reading but Ronan and Isabeth are both amazing and truly deserve each other.
I voluntarily read a review copy kindly provided by the publisher and NetGalley.
I found this novel incredibly sad and would have discredited the state of Ronan's marriage if I had not seen exactly the same scenario in modern times. I felt so sad for Ronan, especially as his marriage was built on political alliances, and breaking them could have been disastrous. As with other books by this author, the plot moves at a fast pace with so much action that one is left with whiplash. However, the gentle love that grows between Ronan and Isabeth is a testament to his loyalty to his slain friend and to Ronan's noble character. Although everything does appear to be lost with no way forward, the novel does come to a very good conclusion. I received a copy of this romance as a gift through Dragonblad Publishing and NetGalley and this is my honest and voluntary review.
I enjoyed this fast-paced medieval romance and even though it is part of a larger interconnected series I was able to understand the plot and connect well with the characters. Kathryn Le Veque is a talented author who knows how to keep the reader engaged in the story from beginning to end.

📚I received a copy of this book from the publisher and this is my freely given honest review. 📚
An almost heartbreaking story and a journey that will be difficult with many twist and turns.
Love is sometimes found when we least expect it and Ronan de Wolfe had not found it yet. At least not with his unfaithful, miserable wife. One he had married at a young age and regretted it ever since. But he is a de Wolfe and had not dishonored her the way she had him. Even their three children were not his.
Fighting in tournaments, he keeps himself distracted, but unfortunately his friend Bryse ends up getting killed and he promises to look after his wife Isabeth. What was he to do but honor that vow?
A story that pulls at the heartstrings and makes you fall in love with another de Wolfe and only hoping he can find his happiness
Wolfeshield by Kathryn Le Veque is the sad story of Ronan de Wolfe, the son James, before he was injured in Wales and became Blayth, and the grandson of the Great William. Ronan allowed himself to be seduced by Marian de Grey when he was very young, she reported back to her father, and between him and Blayth they cooked up this scheme to marry the two and forge an alliance. Neither was very happy with this outcome, but marry they did. She continued on her merry way, which was to bed any man who struck her fancy and he, to remain faithful to his vows. This was the first un-de Wolfe like action: Blayth not allowing Ronan to choose his own bride. Ten years later, at a tournament, Ronan's friend, Dyse de Brito is mortally wounded and as he is dying he begs Ronan to take care of his pregnant wife, Isabeth. Ronan is duty bound, but Isabeth is stubborn. Marian is at the tournament and he requests she accompany he and Isabeth back to her home, to bury her husband. She agrees, but ungraciously. Isabeth is stubborn and not wanted him to accompany her, rallies her entourage and leaves without him. Needless to say, he catches up. Upon arriving, Marian is he usual spoiled self, and he ladies mirror that behavior. It is not long before Isabeth has had enough and orders her from the manor. She leaves, not graciously, taking with her her latest lover as part of her guard. Things are not easy, and the fact there are spies in his midst doesn't help. Ronan falls in love with Isabeth and she with him and things moved quickly after that. Ronan's behavior with Isabeth is the second un de Wolfe like behavior.
As always, Le Veque has the reader in her clutches within 20 pages. The descriptions of both marriages are poignant and heartbreaking. Ronan falling in love is beautiful to watch: him being happy for the first time. As always, everything turns out all right, but it is touch and go for a while. Blayth gets involved and almost ruins everything. Marian is pregnant again with the fourth child that is not Ronan's. There is plenty going on and put together it makes a fabulous story, one well worth the read.
I was invited to read a free e-ARC of Wolfeshield by Dragonblade, through Netgalley. All thoughts and opinions are mine. #netgalley #dragonblade #kathrynleveque #wolfeshield
As a young man Ronan de Wolfe was seduced by a high born woman and forced by her powerful family to marry her. This has proved to be a disaster for him. He is a proud and honourable man who keeps his vows. Unfortunately everyone knows his wife is completely opposite. None of her three daughters belong to him, and she sleeps with any man who takes her fancy.
Our hero tries his best to ignore his wife's behavior, but there will come a time he can't.
Isabeth de Brito married young. Her husband worships the ground she walks on, and she is a grateful and obedient wife. When her husband dies unexpectedly her life changes drastically. Our heroine might have been treated like fragile glass, but she is anything but. Her fire irons occasionally come in handy.
This is a wonderful medieval romance with characters that you will fall in love with easily. You will need the box of tissues handy. Our author has the habit of wringing every drop of emotion out of us be it laughter or tears. This book certainly does that. The de Wolfe family will be very well known to regular readers of this author, but each family member has a very different story, and every book is original, thoroughly entertaining and impossible to put down. You will be very surprised at how this particular love story unfolds.
Ronan de Wolfe, son of James de Wolfe, is not an incredibly happy man. He has come into a very miserable marriage with the daughter of the powerful Northumberland de Gray family. As the years go by, the marriage is nothing but pathetic; and three young daughters are born into it. That would be fine, but Ronan is not the father of these children. Seems as if his wife loves to shame both great houses and lying with any man that she wishes. Getting pregnant with a child means nothing to her, just part of her game. To compensate, Ronan amuses himself in local tournaments to help get away from his horrendous life. Accompanying him is Sir Dyce de Brito who enjoys going with him to these matches. At this event, Sir Dyce’s wife goes along with them to enjoy the games and spend time with her husband. Isabeth de Brito is enjoying herself until her husband is injured and ends up dying of his wounds. Sir Dyce asks Ronan, on his death bed, to take care of his wife. And the plot thickens. Kathryn Le Veque has given us a fantastic adventure, interesting characters and a great plot that keeps us turning the pages. I also recommend that a box of Kleenex would be handy, too. I really enjoyed reading Ronan’s adventure and will reread it again.
Ronan de Wolfe married young against his family’s wishes, now he’s in a loveless marriage with a high born woman where he remains faithful to his vows, but his wife regularly cheats on him and she’s born three children who are not his. At a tournament his good friend Sir Dyce de Brut is severely injured and he asks Ronan, on his death bed, to take care of his wife. The honorable Ronan take charges of the beautiful widow, Isabeth de Brito. He knew Dyce loved her beyond measure he was several years older than Isabeth, but she never loved him as a husband, she thought of him as an older brother. She’s pregnant again after three miscarriages and she begins to rely heavily on her good friend Ronan. It’s so sad they have both been in loveless marriages. It’s plain to see they are meant to be together and fate throws them together at a very difficult time in their lives. They both knows after so many years they’ve found his soul mates, their one true love. Ronan’s wife finds out about their friendship and there’s no fury like a woman scorn as she seeks revenge. Isabeth and Ronan grow closer it appears they are destines to remain friends until fate intervenes again. I have voluntarily read and reviewed the excellent book.
KLV has a way of telling a story…so I can’t ever go below 3 stars unless the editing is terrible. It was very hard to believe/accept that the de Wolfe Empire could not stand up against the de Grey family, but politics can be a strong influencer. For Blythe to broker such an unloving marriage for his eldest, when he had the rare experience of loving (and being loved by) 2 women in his lifetime, was shocking. At times I didn’t like Blythe very much. I kept thinking this shame Marian is bringing to the de Wolfe name would not be tolerated by Blythe’s brothers. However, when push came to shove, literally, he finally stepped up and justice (karma) prevailed! I know all the de Wolfe men fiercely love their children, but I don’t think Troy, Scott or Patrick would have waited for Randolph to concede Isabeth’s hand. They would have taken care of that situation themselves and would have humbly admitted their guilt in their actions over the marriage deal with de Grey. This was a good story and I like how KLV tells it. I may not like how some of it unfolds, but hey, I’m not the writer, right?

Another one bites the dust! Once again, I got pulled into the past and the Family de Wolfe stories, needing to know how this will end. Ronan married a woman who had no intention of being faithful, to the point where she has borne three children all of whom are not Ronan's as well as being the product of 3 different liaisons. Yet Ronan has not strayed, does not repudiate the children, and tries to live his life with honor, and keep the alliances of his family intact. Isabeth is the wife of a man for whom she doesn't feel more than a brotherly affection, but Dyce de Brito has taken care of her since marrying her when she came of age, and has provided for her for 10 years. At a tournament, the unthinkable happens and Dyce is killed. What is Isabeth to do? She doesn't know how she will manage, but she's also not keen on another man taking charge of her life. Ronan has been asked by a dying Dyce to take care of his wife and unborn child. Their path to happiness will take some unexpected turns. An enjoyable read.

Ronan de Wolfe is the eldest son of Blayth de Wolfe. While the de Wolfe men marry for love and for life, Ronan is the exception to that rule. He was married off for an alliance with the house of de Grey, his happiness sacrificed for the greater good. For 10 long years his marriage to Marian de Grey has made him miserable. Marian is an adulterous and manipulative wife who has had 3 children by 3 different men who are not her husband. Meanwhile Ronan has honored his vows. When Ronan’s friend is fatally wounded in a tournament, he begs Ronan on his deathbed to take care is his pregnant wife Isabel. Being a knight of honor Ronan agrees. Isabeth is in a similar situation as Ronan; married but not in love. When the two spend time together the feelings grow but they struggle as people of honor. And there are those who will do anything to keep them apart, including family. My heart broke for Ronan. No one should have to suffer the way he did. His personal struggle had me in tears several times.
Our hero, Ronan, is in a loveless marriage that he impulsively agreed to for the sake of duty. Then everything changes when tragedy strikes, leaving his best friend's pregnant widow, Isabeth, under his protection.
Anyone familiar with this society and its social mores knows exactly what has to happen to facilitate the HEA we know we can count on from this author, but it's the journey that matters more than the destination. The deeply moving story gives us real people trying to balance their own wants and desires with their honor and integrity as well as their obligations to others.
I'm a huge fan of this author's medieval world, so it was pure joy just to settle back in with all the familiar faces for another wonderfully captivating journey. Everything we look for in a de Wolfe story is beautifully rendered here, and I couldn't have loved it more. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.
Ronan de Wolfe has been married to a woman who has more affairs then he can count, yet it is something that everyone knows but doesn’t talk about. Their marriage is a political marriage bringing together two great houses. Married at a very young age Ronan spends most of his time avoiding his wife.
When his best friend dies in a horrible accident he asks Ronan to take care of his wife. Ronan can’t say no to his request in fulfilling his last request Ronan finds he is drawn to Isabeth in more ways than he wants to admit.
Although Isabeth is devastated by her husbands death she knows that she was never in love with him. Now she is pregnant and alone and not sure what her future holds.
I fell in love with this book from the start. I think o fell in love with Ronan (swoon). I love Kathryn’s books and this was no exception, I definitely recommend reading this beautiful love story and fall in love with Ronan and Isabeth!
Wow. Another exciting, powerful, fast paced DeWolfe romance novel . Dyce Dr Brito was good friends with Ronan DeWolfe. They were at a tournament. Dyce had his wife Isabeth with him. When his turn came to just his friends tried to talk of him out of jousting, because the knight against him used dirty illegal tactics. Dyce decided to moist anyway so his wife could watch his sport. Before Dyce was ready the other knight had mortally gored him. The despicable LaLonde warrior was pulled off his horse and beaten to death for his treachery. Ronan made a deathbed promise to take care of Isabeth and his unborn child. Such adventures to discover. Another great novel by Kathryn LeVeque. With William and Jordan Scott DeWolfe having 10 children and 75 grandchildren there are many more DeWolfe stories to tell.
Ronan de Wolfe son of a powerful family found himself married at a young age and regretting his impulsive decision as the years pass laying the groundwork for the story that follows in yet another engaging medieval historical narrative from author Kathryn Le Veque. Full of the emotion and historical details that have riveted the reader through each successive book, and fulfilling on all levels, Ronan’s story carries the reader into another era with its broad strokes of family, love, desire and the choices made impulsively that lead us ultimately to the path where we truly belong. Written with expertly crafted prose and mesmerizing characters this is a story that should not be missed and becomes yet another gem in a series of exceptional reads.
I received a copy of this book via NetGalley and am voluntarily leaving a review
Ronan de Wolfe promises to take care of Dyce de Brito's pregnant wife after he is fatality wounded during a jousting tournament. Ronan has been in a loveless marriage for ten years with an faithful wife. He has been faithful, until he falls in love with Dyce's widow Isabeth. Doomed from the start Ronan and Isabeth fall in love and begin an affair, but getting a divorce would cause too much upheaval in the de Wolfe family and strain relations with his wife's family the de Greys. Neither can Ronan keep Isbeth as his mistress. With only one solution arranged by his father, Ronan has no choice but to agree. Heartache and pain for Isabeth and Ronan, until divine intervention. As always Le Veque never disappoints when it comes to keeping you on the edge. I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book.
Read in a day I was so excited to get into this book! The wait felt long for this release but boy was it worth it! Roe is a credit to his deWolfe name! One thing i love about a deWolfe book is the comradory of the family, the cousins are as close as the siblings were in the original books. Reading the way the cousins view their uncles & aunts gives you a glimpse at how generationally the family values & personalities are familiar, true & why the reader falls in love with this family!! Tho i did miss the mention of the cub tatoo that has been mentioned in the other books. Another deWolfe win, keep them coming!!
Although I did enjoy reading this book, it wasn’t well as believable as her other books. For example, why is Ronan’s marriage to an adulterous wife so important that if he does not stay married to her the entire Wolfe empire will collapse? I found it laughable that Ronan’s father brokered a marriage between Isabeth & one of his knights and then Ronan has to ask the knight to relinquish his rights so that he can marry Isabeth after Miriam’s death? Not to mention that Isabeth has no knowledge that she has been betrothed by her lover’s father? This could have been a good story and believable we’re it not so predictable.
I was really excited with this story. It is a testament to the author and her wonderful work. I am always looking forward to new books. True love is a wonderful thing to base a medieval love story on. I have read all of Ms Le Brand's books several times each. They are something that I love and cherish. I have used them as a distraction from my pain on many occasions and I am so thankful that I have them and they are so much enjoyment for me even with the pain. They take me away from the pain and make life bearable. Thank you so much for your books. They are wonderful reading.
Finally true love but at what cost? It goes to show no matter what century you are in there are still infidelities, only difference it's not as easy as a divorce back then. I must say his wife is trully evil. Ronan is the son of Jame (a wolfe among dragons). I enjoyed the beginning of the book when Ronan was fighting, of course his grandfather, William, didn't know he followed, after all he's only a child. There's plenty of action, betrayal, new love, hope and a HEA. I just reviewed WolfeShield by Kathryn Le Veque. #WolfeShield #NetGalley
I always make sure I have a box of tissues near me when I read a Kathryn Le Veque book! Some of the scenes are so heart wrenching, believe me, you'll need the tissues!! This author never ceases to amaze me with her writing and her knowledge of history.
My heart ached for both Ronan and Isabeth, what they both had to go through before finally finding their HEA. Ronan's wife, Marian, is quite the piece of work and she definitely is the true fiend of the story! Ugh!
In the de Wolfe world, nothing comes easy but oh what a wonderful feeling when love and honour wins the day:)
A keeper for me! This story made me cry 10% in. From there on out, I knew this author was going to tug me along for the ride of a fabulous story. Ronan de Wolfe, an exceptional knight will just burrow himself into your heart. You will come to feel deeply for the man and his plight. Isabeth has been taken care of at first by her father and then by her husband. Tragedy brings these two lives together, but so many obstacles are ever present. Sometimes obstacles can be to hard to overcome.
I have read all of the de Wolfe pack books written by KLV and I have loved them all. Roe and Esa was a love story for the ages I loved their story. I thought Adalaid from stormwolfe would always be the book person I would louth but that was before I read this book Marian took the top of the list of all time spoiled vile selfish people. Read this wonderful book and enjoy. Great job KLV you knocked it outta the park again.
Had me crying in the prologue, remembering poppy and Kieren fighting the Scotts and 8 yr old Ronan following his family and fighting along the way to protect his poppy because his father James can't do it, he's dead. It's so amazing that all the books I have read of KLV that the storylines just keep getting better and better. I keep getting the tissues out, and laughing at the weddings with the baudy songs! Can't wait for the next prepay release!
I am new to this series, so I had no idea what to expect. I was pleasantly surprised & may have found a new series to read. I thought it was well written, with interesting characters but a fairly predictable plot. I think the predictableness of the plot made the read a little more interesting (normally I shut the book when it becomes predictable). I did feel a little lost at times, I think if you read this series, it will solve that problem.
I have read all of her books but the American series and have never been disappointed. She has a talent for keeping the family trees of main characters and side characters in line. I have read and re-read her books and I have only seen a couple of typos. Considering how many words that is her books are almost perfect. I hope she has lots of stories left in her mind and heart.
My heart broke for Ronan. Ten years of suffering with a wicked hearted wife, named Marion. Isabeth is a cherished wife but kept virtually caged by an over protective husband who she feels less affection for than he has for her. Through a series of events Ronan and Isabeth come together in a platonic situation and the story then unfolds. A wild ride. My heart broke for them. Until… pamarella PRCS
The was an excellent, well-written historical romance. It was action-packed, entertaining and held my interest. I wanted to find out what would happen next and didn't want to put it down. I enjoyed this book and this author is a must-read for me. I am always on the lookout for books by this author.
Roan deWolfe was stuck in a loveless marriage with an unfaithful wife. Due to his honor, he remained true to his vows until he couldn’t. Injuries & death to his friend brought about sadness and circumstances that found him in love with his friend widow. A wonderful love story full of sadness, lies and powerful force called love!
