The Do-Gooder Noble Warwick owed Detective Walker everything after he saved him from a man trying to murder him. Noble would have happily done anything as a thank-you, so he agrees almost immediately when the rugged detective asks to take him out on a date. Noble is excited about his good luck, especially after surviving something so terrible. The relationship grows in a fast and obsessive way.
The Demon Detective But Detective Abraham Walker, who goes by Tyler, isn’t exactly what he seems. Noble gradually discovers Tyler might be more dangerous than the man who tried to kill him. The problem? Noble insists on seeing the best in people, and it might be too late before he is ready to admit Tyler is a demon in disguise.
No Peeking is a spooky paranormal romance with one grumpy detective; one sweet sunshine man, who has a wide-open heart; and a happy ending—despite all the danger.

I am so lucky I got to read this with Hugo because I was having a hard time to understand the beginning part of the story. When I finally gets it, I liked it a lot yayy!
This was a lot of mystery and hot stuffs were everywhere 🥵🤣 I love Noble. He was quite innocent and was such a sucker for Tyler and soo kinky in his own little world LOL. Even though reading this story helps me understand what was going on, I was still like Noble, soooo curious and have no idea what Tyler was up to. I love that feeling :> Tyler was great as well. I can’t really say a lot without spoiling, but mostly I love his personality changed because he’s obsessed with Noble 😍 and how determined he was as a detective 😩 Next is Abe. Gosh, he was fuuucked and I love itt!! I want more of his POV because it was so hot but fucked up. With that one 🤮🤮 chapter of his POV I can actually see how his character is, imagine with lots of POV in the whole damn book??!! I might throw up even 🤣 and Sage was awesome! I can imagine loving him if we get a book with him as one of the MCs :))
Even though it was short, the plot managed to feed my curiosity up until the epilogue. And it was interesting! The story unfolds just perfectly with how the plot moves. Even though some of the scenes were disturbing that made me gagged, 😭🤣 I still liked it. Hugo had to put up with me and my gagging and squirming emojis HAHAH. This book was full with things to like and that was enough for me. I really love the concept of the story, brilliant! I just want more POV from each of them, a full length novel and a sequel for this LOL
Idk how the hell my review got swoony because this was dark HAHAH but whatever. Overall, I love the concept of the storyline, the MCs and the epilogue sm. I usually don’t get a lot of good stories because I look forward to MCs more than plotlines so this was great 🫶🏻 And OH, how do I forget??? THE SEXXX!! gahdamn HOT AF 🥵😍😭😩
Thanks Hugo for reading this with me, can’t wait for another dark one tomorrow ;))
I think I liked this but fuck was it weird. I can’t even go into why it’s weird without spoiling it but let’s just say this felt like a Supernatural episode, a dark, gay, kinky needs to be on another channel x-rated version but still in that world.
I liked ‘Tyler’ but thought his whole situation could have been more than it was. I wanted to see the two worlds mix more often. That’s vague but I don’t want to spoil it. Noble, the other MC was this save the world type guy but so ungodly stupid for not seeing the red flags. 🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️ There were so many he could have been at bullfight. 🚩 Actually, bullfights would have had less…Fucking Noble. 😂😂
However, I loved the kink and the rough sex scenes. The plot held my interest although the ending was abrupt and weird. Once again how was Noble just so accepting of what happened? WTF? But for a short novella to try and break my book hangover, this was alright. I’d read this author again.
“If you share with me”—I swore I felt a flash of heat caress down my stomach and send tingles over my cockhead—“I’ll lend you my strength.” “You want to help hack him apart?” I asked hopefully, almost swooning.
Someone asking me if I need help with torturing my target?.... exactly the kind of romance I need!!!💀😆😈😈🖤
My friends always ask me how I find these random ass books😂, but damn, Am I glad that I do. I LOVED this book!! Initially, I just picked it because of the gorgeous cover but then I got to reading it. 😍✨The storyline, the characters, the sex and the blood , plus the paranormal.... everything was fucking amazing and gave me a rush reading it. The first thing I adore in a great book is its intensity- if it can make me hold my breath with anticipation- and this one was filled to the brim with it.
Recommend it a 1000% if you want something dark, insane and little supernatural juju with a demon and a serial killer in the mix. 😍😍🖤🖤😈
First things first, I would like to thank you for reading No Peeking! I’m excited about this book because No Peeking kicks off my paranormal universe, which centers around the city of Vanheim, New York.
Vanheim—where everything is glitzier than anywhere else, a tad darker, and just a little bit more than meets the eye. Most people who live there are simply your average citizens, but those who aren’t? Whoo boy, you’re in for a treat.
I’ve been thinking about Vanheim since late Spring of 2021, and I decided the Halloween season was a great time to launch my first book in this ’verse, so I truly hope you all enjoy it! No Peeking mixes the occult, paranormal, and romance, with just a touch of violence. *chef’s kiss* I grew up in love with all things horror and scary, and this is the first time I really dug into my love of the traditional spooky story. I’ve dabbled in paranormal romance before, but this time I went all-in.
As I pointed out in the content notes found at the front of No Peeking, this book does have a very bad man doing some very bad things. For the readers who don’t want to be spoiled for the book, I’m going to put the next bit under a bar.
Again, thank you for reading my books and the endless support I’ve found in our community. It makes writing such a joy.

Wow! This is definitely what I would call horror erotica. "Tyler" is a demon that makes a bargain to share the body of Abe. What he doesn't realize is that Abe is completely unhinged, psychotic and a serial killer. Despite this, Tyler manages to become a police detective and seems to have an uneasy cohabitation with Abe - until he saves Noble. Noble is the pure soul - working at homeless shelters and championing for the less fortunate. When his paths cross with Tyler he is thrown out of his element. Tyler wants him with a passionate fervor that bewitches Noble but Abe is waiting in the darkness of their shared mind, and he wants Noble too. A battle will be waged within the same body for control - one wanting to keep and love Noble and the other wanting to destroy and possess him. I was absolutely on the edge of my seat throughout this book. The author's ability to transport the reader into the gritty cityscape made every shadow seem tangible and her characters leapt off the pages with surprising realism. From start to finish I was completely entranced and I would 100% recommend this book. It's dark and a little gruesome and absolutely addicting!
Continuing my spooky October reads with a horror romance.
You know someone is truly evil when the demon sharing their body is the good guy.
The demon, who goes by Tyler, has control over Detective Abraham Walker's body, except for one day every 13 days. On this day, the serial killer regains control over his body and wreaks havok.
After Tyler saves Noble Warwick's life, the two strike up a romance. Their chemistry is strong. Almost too strong as Tyler fears the day the serial killer gets control of the body, especially when it seems he's taking control early. __ Ki Brightly did a really good job of mixing the horror/thriller and romance aspects. The animosity between Demon and serial killer was displayed so well.
It is a bit weird saying that I really enjoyed the romance in a horror book, but Tyler and Noble are great together
Whew, I’m not sure I even know where to start with this one. I cannot believe that a book which started out so dark and yes, at times gruesome, could end with a sweet HEA that left me with a smile on my face.
Abe is a bad man. Like, a really bad man, with a penchant for stealing a certain body part for posterity. Tyler is a bad man trying to be good. Struggling to be good. And Noble is a cinnamon roll that sees the good in Tyler from the beginning. This story really is about these three men and man, what a story it is. I don’t want to give anyway too many details, but just know going in that there will be parts that make you uncomfortable and wonder how all this is going to come together. It does! Just…trust the process.
There were times I wanted to pick Noble up and shake him. What was he doing, trusting Tyler even after all the red flags?! He really is too good for this world. The glimpse’s we get to see into Abe’s psyche are eerie. Brightly writes this character in a beautifully nuanced way. The push and pull between Abe and Tyler feels so real that you find yourself rooting for Tyler, even though he’s a bad guy too.
Given that this is the start of a series set in this city, I would have liked a little more exploration into the world building. Still, this book was engaging from start to finish and I deeply enjoyed Tyler/Abe’s mind in the most grotesque way.
I received an advanced copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
This started so strong and I thought I would love it. I love dark, twisted and gory books. I read some pretty effed up stuff and enjoy it, so I was excited it started off extra crazy. But…it kind of just went downhill as we went. When Abe/Tyler were introduced it was awesome because Abe (the human) was this manic serial killer and Tyler (the demon) was the good one playing hero. Noble was introduced as a do gooder, smart, bit insecure but stubborn guy. I loved all the characters.
But then idk what happened. Maybe it was the lust, the sex? Noble went from being an admirable character to very naive, ditzy and just gullible. As long as he had his dick stroked he cared very little about anything else. He was so stupid about A LOT of things.
Tyler/Abe were a mess. And nothing about any of it was believable. I mean Abe was a serial killer and just leaving evidence everywhere. There’s no way it’s been years and he’s never been caught. I mean hello, his skin was raked under a victim’s fingernails. Missing winter wear. Blood coated everywhere. Waking up in foreign places. No way. No way they lasted this long, and then all of a sudden they’re busted by a driver’s license. Couldn’t suspend disbelief enough for all this.
And the ending…by the 70% mark is when I started skimming and I’m glad because it was a mess. I think I’m most mad about Tyler taking over Sage’s body, and the way Noble reacted to it. He wouldn’t have sex with Tyler, but as soon as Sage introduced himself he just fucked him????!!!?? Like what. Noble supposedly loves Tyler but he gave himself to Sage before him!? That makes no sense. Like none of this story does. I can’t even.

Tyler, the demon, is looking for a host. Unfortunately, he finds Abe.. the worst person ever to possess. Every few days, he's forced to give over control to Abe, resulting in killing sprees he has no memory of. What happens when Tyler falls in love? How will Tyler keep Noble safe from himself? Idk about this one... I really hated that ending. I feel awful for Noble. Then the whole thing with Sage? weird and confusing. I didn't like it.
“Do you want me to fuck you, Noble Warwick? Use this hole as my personal cum carnival ride?”🎡
Wow that was spectacular. I do admit I got a little bored around the middle parts but it picked up the pace and got my heart thumping like crazy soon enough.
An interesting setup, but I felt like it never quite made it to its full potential.
Noble was the most dingdong character I have ever read. Some degree of failure of existence was required for the plot to work, but he went above and beyond.
I'd have liked the Abe/Tyler dynamic to be explored more. Tyler doesn't really know whats going on half the time, and Abe is Eyeball Abe so he's no help. There's obviously murders shown, and eyeballs, and talk about the serial killer, but I'd have liked a little more focus on that, for background development. Conversations with the partner about the serial killer? They had some, but again, just surface stuff. It was too surface to provide much tension for me.
Also pretending forensics isn't a thing for him to have been operating for so long, and it took him leaving his literal drivers license at a murder to get caught.
That third act tho 👁 was eye opening Lmao I hate myself, poor noble tho.
I wished we get to know more of Tyler demon version and his origin. The idea of a demon sharing a mind and body with a serial killer was already an interesting concept I just wished we get more of the switched perspective and then how Abe picked his victims.
Noble was just so noble it's just his character was so boring at some part like he was just written to be kind and noble of course to be a yang to Abe/Tyler Ying personality, but I still loved him I just wished there were more depth to him.
That Abe introduction/prologue to the story was sooo good 🤌🤌 like it was so chilling and scary and it was a perfect set up to what's coming and what to anticipate from this serial killer.
And sage idk why but I just adore him he's cute even tho we get to know him in such a short time near the end.

It's a really enjoyable read. I wasn't sure I'd like it, because the story seemed unique and this was my first book from this author but I did. This kept me interested until the end, and that was rare recently. I loved Mcs especally Tyler. he's really interesting and hot. But I didn't like epilogue and the change. It's really......weird. confusing. it could've been better.
Tropes and Elements: - Age-gap - Paranormal horror - Occultism - Angst - Light BDSM - Unhinged Lovers - Dark HEA
No Peeking is a queer horror-romance novella that takes readers on twists and turns, as the action ratchets up and you have to wonder how this could ever end in a HEA.
”Fuck. I was going to get him killed because there was no way I could make myself stop.”
The writing by Ki Brightly is, as usual, engaging and immaculate. I saw no mechanical errors and was pulled in by the inner dialogue and the interactions each character had, and the way it pulled me in to experience the story alongside the characters. This was certainly suspenseful and gave the similar feeling to watching something like Dexter, as you see a man fall apart and wonder when his lies and mistakes will catch up to him. After all, you could only go on like this for so long.
The story itself starts with a very graphic and violent scene to set the tone and stage of this story. This story is not for the faint of heart - and yet, not intentional violence between the true MCs comes to bear. No, it is the antagonist which is one in the same with an MC that comes to hurt Noble. The ending features a very painful moment for Noble, one that I didn’t think he would survive. Yet, the HEA does come at promises. It is very unconventional, has room for what might come to bite them back, but that is for us to only ponder later.
Tyler, the other MC, is interesting. Something could be said about men being the true monsters in the world, because he is surprisingly tame compared to the antagonist, despite what he allows. However, eventually his deal could only go on for so long. Something had to give. In true horror fashion, the monster was destroyed… or was he? That’s what this story is about, and gave us a very surprising ending that we as readers are left with to see how the MCs still made it work.
Noble, I loved. He was kind, sweet, and yet clearly something is broken in him to, despite everything, love Tyler. To the very bitter end he loved him and did what he had to do. Truly, this is something that speaks of love being blind, and that is appropriate for the book’s ‘No Peeking’ theme. I only hope that continuing on, his life is happy. I honestly am surprised he still loved Tyler after everything… I don’t think I could’ve done it.
I’m excited to read Gutsy and learn about Journey’s relationship in Vanheim. If it’s anything like this, I’m buckling down for the horror and hope he makes it out alive.
**I received an ARC from the author in exchange for my honest review.**
And beware of the warnings in the book. This is a spooky, dark and gore-y tale and if you’re not up for bad people doing seriously bad things and bodily harm, then please do not read this book.
I’ve primarily read KI’s books that they have written with MD Gregory or in the same universe (New Gothenburg), so this is the first book I’ve read that falls outside of that established universe.
And it’s quite the ride. Noble is an absolute doll and I enjoy how KI never makes their characters picture perfect (as some MM authors tend to do). Noble tries to see the good in everyone around him, even when it means almost killing him. Getting together and hot and dirty with his detective saviour is definitely skirting the line of safe.
The book delves into what actually IS a monster. Sometimes it’s not who it’s supposed to be, and sometimes man is so much worse than anything else around you. The paranormal aspect is absolutely splendid and I’m looking forward to both KI and MD writing more in this universe they are setting up.
The ending is sort of meh, unfortunately. It was definitely not the ending I expected, and while I understood it looking back on the book, I am still not a huge fan of how it turned out.
But the book is written splendidly and is a different take on the paranormal universe.
This was a very odd, very unique scary story. Very appropriate for this time of year. Can a demon fall in love? The author does a good job mingling romance with a bit of horror when a demon meets a man he initially thought he’d just like a bit of fun with. One realizes right away that this isn’t going to be a sappy love story. The demon, Tyler, doesn’t try to sweet talk Noble. He tells Noble he isn’t boyfriend material and he’s just looking for fun. Noble declines at first and then decides, we’ll why the hell not.
I liked that this was a bit different. I loved that Tyler isn’t portrayed as anything but what he is. He’s gruff. He’s brash. The only thing I didn’t quite go for was how kind Noble is and that these two really didn’t seem to fit. Because it’s such a short book, readers aren’t given a background as to either’s history. It is a quick, fun, slightly disturbing read.
Thank you to Gay Romance Reviews for providing a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
This was... an experience.
This book certainly started off with a bang. And it was gruesome and kind of terrifying if I'm being honest. And Brightly maintained that terrifying feeling throughout the book. Abe is absolutely crazy and what happens to him made me clap my hands, thank GOD. But Tyler was so sweet. Ultimately though, I didn't connect with any of the characters in any real way and I did find that the middle was dragging a bit. I also didn't love the ending (although it is a HEA).
This book is perfect to read now that the leaves are falling, the weather is changing, and spooky season is approaching. I'd definitely recommend giving this one a shot if you are looking for something that will give you goosebumps and make you wince at the grotesque detail.
No Peeking is a deliciously spooky paranormal romance with a dangerous edge. Whilst it is a romance, and ends with a HEA, it is by no means a lighthearted read. It’s dark and scary, and made me uncomfortable at times. But I love that feeling of being wary of characters, especially when it gets gruesome and makes me question everything. Noble is naive and so very sweet, and he deserves all the happiness in his life. He really feels out of place in such a brutal story, but he ends up working perfectly alongside the alluringly darkTyler/Abe. It’s a hard path towards a very well-earned HEA!
I was very excited to read this story I really enjoy morally ambiguous characters, possessive characters who fall for shy or quiet, needy characters. I love Ki when cowrites with Meg Bawden/ MD Gregory i do not recall ever reading any of their solo books before this one to be honest. I just could not get into the story. I’m a horror movie and book fanatic but I like scary way more then gory and brutal, this book from page one was gory and I guess I did not heed the trigger warnings enough. Then Tyler and Noble never fully gelled as a couple there was no relationship building that made me root for their HEA and to top it off it just kinda hopped around a lot lastly the end just fell flat for me. Ki is a great creator of worlds and characters. I just don’t think this book got enough touching up to make it coherent and well rounded. I will definitely continue to check out their books in the future still.
I love anything Ki Brightly writes! I always know it's going to offer up a dark & twisted romance that will be an entertaining thrilling read. No peeking is paranormal galore that takes place in the universe Vanheim city, New York. Where everyday people go about their day under the guise of normality but under the city lights at nightfall danger lurks in the shadows and resides in every corner of Vanheim.
The paranormal is typically not my thing, but I found this quite enjoyable to read. The pacing was good, and I was surprised when I reached the end, as it was pretty effortless reading.
I could have done with a bit more distinction between the two POVs, and I wasn’t crazy over the epilogue (though, when am I ever?).
The reason I always pick this author's books is because they always push me that little bit out of my comfort zone. They're never the rosey romances and No Peeking was definitely gritty, dark, bloody and creepy. I really enjoyed the storyline, the pacing and the characters, every toe-curling, chilling and hot moment that the book offered.
Not the faint of heart and might make some readers uncomfortable, but if you like violence, gore and dark elements, this is definitely the book you need.
Omg this book was insane 🤯🤯🤯 how can you fall in love with a serial killer? Does it count if he’s not in control at the time? I loved this story. Tyler the lovable demon. Nobel was such a sweet and caring MC it was a ride getting to seek Tyler break down and love him back. I was so scared for him the whole time. The ending was perfect. I can’t wait for Journey’s story!
Okay, While I did want just a little more from the overall story, what I actually want is more from that ending! I'm surprised by how much I loved the ending cause I was nervous for a minute there. But now I want another book...
Very different. I love when Ki Brightly goes dark and this was that. It was also a tale of real but weird love. if you get queasy over darker stories, this one is not for you. If you love hot stories that push where you would never go, then read this one. In fact if you have never read a book by Ki Brightly or her writing partner M.D. Gregory, correct that mistake now.
