ABRAHAM: A Field Guide To Loving God

Rate this book
In this book, David A. Tieche examines the life of Abraham and shows that in the ups-and-downs of his story, there is a helpful, practical, real-world definition of what it means to LOVE GOD. By examining four key moments in Abraham’s life, we see four key ways that Abraham lived out what it means to love God. And even though Abraham lived a long time ago, those four key lessons can help us navigate life today and teach us how to love God.

The book follows the story of Abraham in details, offering theological backing and connections with other verses in the Bible. I found the approach of dissecting the life of Abraham very nicely executed, framing the story in its temporal context and giving insights into the principles that lie behind. Ultimately, it points back to God’s character and desire for a deep trusting relationship with us. Flavour is added by a mixture of different stories and pop-culture references that help ilustrate the main points.

The book is an easy read and a very good study for people new in faith. Having some interesting notions and points made based on the Biblical story, I highly recommend giving it a try, as I am sure there will be something that will leave an impact on you!

This book dives into the heart of God. The relational way in which He wants to relate to us, the walls we try to build and how He ever so gently but firmly pulls them down.
The way Tieche walks through the story of Abraham as a reveal of our own hearts and attitudes towards God is deeply impactful.
I always appreciate Tieche's writing style and tone, his ability to get deep to the heart of the matter while making you smile is a gift. This will be a reread for me, and something I will read with my children as they get older.

Really enjoyed this. David does a great job explaining the life lived out through the lens of “Abrahamic righteousness” in a simple and understandable way.

I learned it as Be Loyal to YHWH, Trust YHWH even when it doesn’t make sense, Obey YHWH by living out Righteousness and Justice & Look to YHWH for provision.
