The last thing Angus Kilmer was looking for was a steady relationship. But he couldn't ignore his instant attraction to Chastain "Chase" Brooks. There was only one problem—Chase, the hard-edged, no-nonsense and undeniably hot owner of a rock and roll bar loathed him. Angus never looked away from a challenge but would Chase prove to be just too out of reach, even for him?Book 3 of Tess Oliver's Western Smokejumpers series. 1. BRONX2. KING3. ANGUS

I'm loving the Western Smokejumpers series! Angus is the 3rd member to find himself twisted up by a woman! As much as I enjoyed this story, it was a hard one for me to read because I could relate to Chastain (Chase) Brooks. NO, my life has not been parallel to hers, but the "close off your heart" means of survival, I could relate to. I often felt bad for Angus, but I appreciated his tenacity. There definitely was NOT insta-love between Chase and Angus! BUT there sure was a strong chemistry when they finally gave in! I loved too, the times he was with his teammates! I especially enjoyed reading about the times that Angus and his team were sent out on his day job! Smoke jumpers sounds so exciting and terrifying too! Am I the only one that wishes we could hear a soundtrack of the music Angus and the band played at Handle Bars? I'd love to hear Angus sing! An amazing vocalist to go with that book cover! *SWOON*
Oh Angus, you had my heart when I first met you even though it seemed you were relationship shy! And he does a great job of giving that impression, leaving broken hearts at every bar he has sang at. But he meets his match with Chase. From their first meeting he is hooked but she couldn't care less or so it seems. And that makes him work that much harder, which is not a bad thing. Angus has a depth to him that not many see. As they become closer and they open up to each other, Chase suddenly gets cold feet. Can Angus make her see that they are worth it? Oh my heart! They both have some form of baggage but when they are together, damn! There goes my heart again!
Tess has done it again! Each novel in the series just keeps getting better and better! This book is about Angus. I love how all the characters from the previous books are still there..they are like a giant family. I so hope there will be more in this series!!!!
Angus is book three of Tess Oliver's Western Smokejumpers series. I have really enjoyed reading this series. I did not want it to end. (In fact, I would be in seventh heaven, Tess, if you could see your way to continuing the series with other team members!)
To begin with, I liked how Tess Oliver wove the job of Smokejumpers into the story. The extreme adrenaline rushed the job evokes in the characters trickled over to the reader, making the heroes seem larger and sexier than real life. Including some of the missions in the plot increased the suspense level.
Next, I enjoyed how Tess continued to develop the many sides of Angus. He was introduced originally as a support character in book one, and his transformation into a hero continues in each subsequent book, culminating in book three, when he becomes the main character. In book three, Angus, vulnerabilities are revealed. With his off-duty job as a lead singer with the voice of an angel and a growing love for Chase, Angus becomes a living, breathing, multidimensional individual. It was magnificently written and created.
Finally, it is hard to ignore how the job and it's dangers, bind the team of smokejumpers together. Their love and loyalty to each other made my heart ache. There were moments when I was so emotionally connected to the team that I cried as though I was watching one of those tear-jerking SPCA commercials! The dialogue between characters was witty, snarky, and as real as you would expect between colleagues who are like family to each other. It provided the humor needed to make sure the suspense did not overwhelm the story.
I'd like to offer as an aside, my great appreciation for whoever did the coverage for the series. The male cover models were definitely drool worthy. ( Not that I would ever be so crass as to objectify a male model just trying to do a job! Nor would I ever choose a book by the jaw-dropping beauty of a bookcover model. I know what happens when you judge a book by its cover!)
Angus is another well-developed, well-written book with a happily ever after ending that left me with all sorts of fell- good emotions. Well done, Tess Oliver. I am off to start reading another series of yours!
Angus is the third book in the Western Smokejumpers and it was a great read. Angus is off work during slow season and decides to join with a band to play at the Handle Bar Club., which is owned by a woman named Chase. In the past Angus is the typical playboy, loving one night stands. He has broken many hearts along the way. Chase is different though, she practically despises him and she is tough. She wants nothing to do with Angus! Angus is enchanted by Chase though and he perseveres through all of Chase's objections to him! Does this big bad smoke jumper get the girl-you will have to read to find out. Tis book has everything you will love in a romance, and there are several twists and turns to make this another great story! I gave this book 5 stars! It will e good if you read the first two books in this series, Bronx and King!
Angus is droooool, I fell in love from the first sentence in the first book😂 I was a little thrown off from this one with the temper and back and forth of Chase, her personality was a little hard for me to grasp and I usually like strong women but she was grinding my gears😂 still a happy ending is what always makes me happy and Angus deserved his. Loved these books, especially their job, something different but a huge turn on! Is there more? I’d love to read about Kaos.
Oh Angus, where do we start with him. I Loved getting to know him outside of what we already know from the first 2 books. And his love Chase was just the woman he needed to find! I loved how hard, and just gave zero nonsense to anyone in her way of living her life! I would have like to see a little more smoke jumping in this book, but it doesn't take away from it one bit, that's just a personal preference. Once again Tess writes a book I have a hard time putting down!
Enjoyed the book. Loving the smokejumpers series and wish there was more. More like 3.5 stars only because I feel like I wanted more story for the ending. Maybe an epilogue or a new story to update us all on the three jumpers. Just felt a little wanting at the end of the stories.
Oh man, I love this series. I love all the guys. They make a great supporting cast. Angus is so great. He's that protector but also giving of himself and even at times vulnerable. I adore Chase because she's kind of like one of the guys, not overly girly. This story has a lot more ups and downs then some of the others in the series but not so many that you want to get off the ride. LOL There are subtle twists and turns in the story too. It's fun and intriguing and just great. You'll love it and if you haven't checked out the first two books in the series, while you can read them as stand-alones, I highly recommend you read them too. You won't regret it.
Angus is the 3rd in Tess Oliver’s Western Smokejumpers series. Angus moonlights in the off season as a singer for a band. He leaves broken hearts behind him. The band he hooks up with this time has a week gig at a bar called Handlebars whose owner is not falling for him. I love this series and the characters that run throughout these stories. These smokejumpers are a large family and it is fun to see them slowly fall out of being single. I can’t wait to see what happens next.
Angus is the third smoke jumper to get all caught up in a women. As the lead singer and smoke jumper Angus is used to getting the girls. Chase has had a harder go of life and has a very thick outer shell. The back and forth between these two is fraught with misunderstandings, old fears and genuine chemistry. I really enjoy that the whole crew is in all the books helping the current character muddle through his problems. I read this book in one sitting!! I strongly recommend this series!!
I've loved Angus from book 1 and was really excited for his book. At first, I was not feeling the relationship he was forming with Chastain didn't feel they had the interaction needed to form a solid enough relationship foundation. But then when you think about it, opposites like them do work and understanding Chastain and why she's closed off was key.
Tess Oliver is a favorite author of mine. This is the third book in this series and it was a great addition. I love seeing characters in each book, watching them as their lives continue to move forward. These guys are so easy to love. Angus had to work hard for love. Chase is a fiesty, strong, but broken heroine. A great romance for these two!
What a fantastic book, Angus the newest book in the Western Smokejumpers series. Angus and Chase what a story full of anticipation and guessing. I’m loving each book in this series fun, hot and sexy. Can’t wait for the next book.
