Angela
I've been a captive my entire life behind the walls of my family’s making.
And while the walls have kept me in, they didn’t keep the monsters out.

Under a constant watchful eye, I have no choice in anything, my path already carved out for me the moment I entered this world.
Until the night my door is kicked down, and I’m dragged away from the only life I’ve known by a man who simultaneously sends a chill down my spine in fear and makes my heart race for a completely different reason.

Luca Carfano

All I’ve ever known from men like Luca is betrayal, but I can’t help wanting him when he lets me see beneath his hard, emotionless exterior.
He may have taken me out of one cage and put me in another, but Luca has a way of keeping the monsters away that makes me want to stay his little bird even when he sets me free.

Luca
The mission was clear – get in and get out.
We were there for the man who had our father killed, not her.
But when I found her locked in her room, I decided to take her too.

Angela Cicariello

As the daughter of our enemy, she wasn’t supposed to be anything other than leverage, but it turns out she wants her father to suffer as much as we do. And when I see the pain behind her eyes, I’m determined to know why.

Unravelling her isn’t easy, but I’ve never backed down from a challenge, and I’ve never wanted someone more.
Angela is mine to protect now, and I’ll see to it that she’s free from the nightmares that have haunted her for years.

2 - 2.25 Smut Scale Stars

This was basically an amalgamation of meals and sex scenes and not much else.

Barely a plot.
Barely any relationship building.
Barely any mafia.

I will probably give the next one a try still as I am curious to see if she can rebound a bit with Dante's story (plus it's "free" for me via Kindle Unlimited, so why not) but, after that, I probably won't continue with the series without an upward swing.

Another great story in the Carfano Crime Family series! This is the story of Luca Carfano and Angela Cicariello. Angela is the daughter of the man who killed Luca’s father and uncle. For the last 5 years the Carfano family has been dismantling the Cicariello family. When the chance comes to finally get the head of the family, Joey, the Carfano family is there to take their revenge. Joey is taken, but not before Luca comes across Angela locked away in a room down the hall from her father. Luca decides to take Angela even though she was not part of the plan. Angela has been locked away for the last 5 years with her father with no freedoms, no choices and no chance of doing what she wants. She has built walls around herself so that no one could hurt her again. She is feisty, strong and just wants a chance to be free of her father and brothers.

When Luca and Angela meet, there is a spark, but Angela refuses to be “taken” and fights with everything she has to look and sound tough. Luca is instantly turned on by this. The banter between Luca and Angela is a love/hate type of situation. They both want to hate the other, but they can’t deny that they feel something. This story will lead to trust, truths being found out, violence, vengeance, loyalty, finding your choices and choosing your battles. There is suspense, angst, protectiveness, caring, passion, and growing. Great story and I look forward to reading more from Rebecca Gannon! I received a free copy of this book via Hidden Gems ARC’s and am voluntarily leaving a review.

A catchy title, or one where the words flow together so it sounds sexy is always appreciated. It's even better when the title fits the overall story; such was the case here. When I first started this, I thought Luca and Angela's connection was a bit too insta-lust for my liking and was concerned it'll get annoying with all the sex and trash story. Such was not the case. It got a lot better and I was so happy with what Luca did for Angela. It was the right thing to do, and oftentimes I don't think this option is given for the h in stories like this.

It was my first time reading this author's work, but it'll definitely not be my last.

As much as I loved book 2, I loved Luca and Angela's story more. Luca was so amazing and I loved that in the end he knew what he needed to do- even if he hated it and it was the last thing he wanted to do. Angela was so much stronger than she realized and I loved that even with all the shit she went through because of her dad and brothers, she still had the fight in her when it was needed. I loved that she decided to run from Luca. I think that was the only part of the story that pissed me off with him. I know in his world Leo is his boss, but he needed to tell Leo to go to hell and he wasn’t going to give Angela back. I wanted Luca to tell Leo that Angela was just as important as Abri was and he wasn’t giving her up. Thankfully though Leo figured it out and had it all planned and was just trying to make Luca admit his feelings.
I first read book 2 years ago and I’m just now picking the series back up. I read book 1 yesterday, book 3 now and I’m ready for book 4 next!

My heart is completely full right now. Wow! Just... wow! This series keeps getting better with every book and as much as I will forever love Alec & Tessa and Leo & Abrianna, I have to say Luca and Angela are my favorite of the series so far. The story didn't lack the swoon, angst, steam and the adrenaline rush I was expecting, but it was so full of emotion and a hopeful love after a devastating past.

This story was so intense, so beautiful and sexy even with the violence and suspense that every Mafia Romance brings. I wanted to take it slow but as always, Rebecca Gannon made me fall in love immediately by bringing back this amazing fictional world and bringing these two swoony characters to life. From the moment Luca and Angela laid their eyes on each other they jumped in a heartbreaking journey of discovering secrets, uncover painful truths, question loyalties and finding out that true love doesn't hold you captive. Rebecca Gannon is a beautiful storyteller, her writing in this book was poetic, captivating and I couldn't put it down for one second!

I thought I couldn't love anyone more than I loved Alec and Leo, I still do, but Luca was a different type of Alpha because of the lessons he had to learn with Angela. As a guy born and raised by a Mafia king and underboss of his brother, he only knew how to be violent, unmerciful and dominant. He discovered a side he didn't know about himself with Angela, he was kind, caring and had more love for others than he thought. He was concerned about Angela's safety more than her family ever had and wanted to protect her physically and emotionally from all her wounds to the point of sacrificing what he wanted and needed. His heart of gold made me the entire time as he slowly gathered the courage to love Angela the way she needed, even if it hurt him. He learned how to fight for her and show her she was worthy of being loved, desired and cherished in the best way she was going to be able to understand it.

"I'm who my father wanted me to be ─a man who puts the family name first and doesn't care about anyone but himself.

I don't want to be that man anymore.

I want to be the man who found something and someone he doesn't want to lose, and hold onto her with everything I have."

I have no words to describe how much I loved Angela. She was the epitome of resilience, courage and hope. Her backstory broke my heart and made me so angry for the right reasons, she had suffered so much, endured so much and still held the hope of being free one day and have the choice to do with her life as she pleased, she had lost so much already that she ended up losing her fear. Again, I love Tessa and Abrianna, but there's something so different about Angela because of the pain she'd been through and the determination she had in her.

"I'll always want to fly free. I'll always wonder. No matter how pretty the cage I'm put and no matter how my captor makes me feel."

I understood why she didn't trust Luca from the start, instead of giving up and accept what life threw at her, she saw it as an opportunity to get what she's always wanted, which was her freedom and made the choice based on what was best for her and her future and not just because she wanted to be with Luca. I loved how she ended up saving herself and chose her happiness above everything else, she is definitely one of the strongest characters I've read and I hope to get more of her in future books because she was so inspiring and brave.

As always, the book was hot and steamy just as it was filled with emotion. I always love to see a Mafia Boss going all Alpha in the bedroom with the heroine and the Carfano brothers have never disappointed me. Luca and Angela were so beautiful together, they had chemistry and a beautiful connection that had me wanting for more. They made me feel everything I wanted to feel with how beautifully they got closer to each other with each chapter and how they grew to be a couple that learned how to give, take and let go when necessary.

I can't describe how much I love the Carfano family and how obsessed I am with them, every book gives me a whole lot more of them, of their loyalty, their values and their real love and protection for each other. I loved to see them all following Leo's lead, he showed once again why he's the head of the family and why Luca, Alec and the rest of the family look up to him and respect him. I loved the tough love he gave Luca and how he wanted to see his brother as happy as he was. The way they all showed up for Luca and Angela to bring justice and protect both of them gave an entire different level of emotion to the story that I wasn't prepared for. It only adds to the obsession and I can't wait to see who's next in line to get their happy ending.

The series keeps getting better, more characters are being introduced and the family is growing even more. I can't wait to see what other dangers they'll face, the adventures they'll have and what other love stories are hidden behind these amazing and dangerously hot men.

Book hangover X1000000000

I have no words to thank Rebecca Gannon for letting me read this beautiful book before the release and allowing me to be part of her amazing ARC team. I'm obsessed with this series and can't wait for book 4, which I'm sure it will be as amazing.

A startling read, brutal family life for one sister rescued by enemy of her father
When she had been young Angela Cicariello had thought that she lived behind walls because her father and two brother cared for her and wanted what was best, how soon she was to come to realise that this life was not because her father cared he was a brutal bully that would soon hit her than answer a question.
Then five years ago not long after her mother was killed in an accident her father had uprooted the family and then secreted himself behind the walls of the mansion, he had guarded 24/7 by numerous security men and soldiers.
When she had then been kept in a locked room it had allowed predators access to her and her nightmares had started and from then on had gone worse and now that her father’s enemy’s had come to take him she had also been taken by one of the brothers Luca Carfano who had initially thought her to be additional collateral.
Luca could see that Angela had no pity for the father or her brothers that had terrorised her all of her life especially since the death of her mother, she knew he was evil and the kidnapping and other things that had happened to her in these years he could have stopped if he had cared and saw her as more than a commodity or nuisance.
Luca had known so many women in his life and yet he knew that they had simply been for the moment but with her from the start it had been so different, he had cared and wanted to see her happy and safe. He wanted her to tell him about her life and what had caused her to wake screaming during the night, pale, shaking and sick it was obviously something traumatic and he would slay her terrors if possible.
His brothers had bargained with her two brothers that as well as the guns they would also give back their sister but Luca knew that she was his and he was not going to let this happen, only his brother didn’t know that yet.
If he could only find out about the hell she had been put through and prove that they had also been responsible as her father and could have helped their younger sibling, in their society women were protected against all else.
Well in most honourable crime families they were, there was nothing honourable about the Cicariello family.
I assure you that you will love every moment of this book it is simply a fantastic read.
I voluntarily received and review an Advanced Reader Copy
I thoroughly enjoyed the book and look forward to reading any future publications; keep up all the great writing.

The addition starts with the book cover….yeah…yeah…yeah don’t judge a book by its cover they say ….well we all do it and this one here it is the scratch to your itch or better yet the filling to your oreos! Within the first chapters you get the panoramic view of whom you’re dealing with! Buckle up because this is going to be one wild ride with the Carfano Crime Family as we have seen already, so make sure you are buckled up. Luca sexy as all get out Carfano who will ensure his family remain or is on top always stopping at nothing in his way, mowing everything in his way, and taking no prisoners…... well except one 😊. In order to make it to the top they will have to eliminate the Cicariello family (who killed his father and uncle) but when they get their there is an unexpected surprise waiting and it is named Angela Cicariello who they think to take as leverage. Angela is sweet, a caged bird in a pretty cage with not so nice owner (her father), and she has tried many times mentally to figure a way out of the cage but her only way out is if her father allows it so when she is taken that night well it opens a door that she thought was locked forever well until her father sold/bargained/gave her away for better business. She has lived with restrictions, after her mother passed her father’s restrictions become harsher and the evil inflicted on her at the hands of her father. The attraction between Angela and Luca is mutual right from the start also confusing as to why they are having these feelings for each other. Each try to deny the feelings him being Mr. Tough Guy and she being their or his prisoner which is funny to watch develop 😊. However, when she eventually reveals all that, she suffered at the hands of her father it’s so heartbreaking (you want everything that is due to her father to come to him). Luca is motivated to seek vengeance on her behalf, even more than the vengeance he wants for losses suffered by his own family. Two people with different views and still have so much in common, both born into families without a choice, but they learned to be better for what they have gone through the chemistry is insanely intense and the magnetic pull is too strong to be ignored but it is enough, can they heal one another, do they get revenge on her father, and can they find happiness on this delicious path of darkness?

4 1/2 stars! Highly recommend!

This is the first story I have read by Rebecca Gannon. I love to read series, but decided to skip the first two of this one based upon the BLURBs, but I made a mistake and will be going back and reading them asap.

So obviously this can be read as a stand-alone, but I think it would have been infinitely better if I had read them in published order, as there are reoccurring characters and themes.

** There are references and scenes that will be difficult for sensitive readers. I included a high-level listing below for reference, but please note: this is a DARK THEMED story that involves mental health challenges and SEXUAL ASSAULT to a CHILD. **

The story universe is well developed and the characters all fleshed out. I am greedy, so I always want more physical descriptions, but Rebecca provided more than most.

I mention the following for readers such as myself that visualize the story as it is read, because errors interrupt the flow and visualization. There are a few grammatical issues. These involve extra inserted words, missing words, incorrect punctuation, capitalization and word tenses. I uploaded my notes to goodreads for anyone interested.

⛔️ Contains references to, or scenes detailing, subject matter that may be a trigger or offensive to some, including, but not limited to: adult language; derogatory terms; mental health challenges of depression, PTSD, anxiety and panic attacks; steamy adult intimate scenes with dominance, submission, breath play, spanking for pleasure, etc.; violence such as kidnapping, enforced long-term captivity, murder / death, torture, assault, fighting, betrayal, blackmail, coercion, rape, sadism, human trafficking, child neglect, mental, physical and sexual abuse of child and adult, drug use and distribution, gun running, gambling, loan sharks, mafia organizations, etc.

“Vengeance” is the third book in the ‘Carfano Crime Family’ series by Rebecca Gannon. Although it’s the first book I’ve read by this author, I was able to follow the action perfectly fine, and I’m going back to find the first two books in the series. There are potential triggers for some people in this book, particularly remembered sexual assault and intentional violence. It’s definitely a ‘dark’ story, but I thought it was a good one.

Angela has lived her life burdened by heavy restrictions because her father is a mafia boss. After the death of her mother when Angela was a young teenager, the restrictions became even harsher and the evil inflicted upon her became the stuff of nightmares. When Luca and his crew break into her home to abduct her father as revenge for something the older man did, Luca sees Angela and feels compelled to take her, too. The attraction between Angela and Luca is mutual, as is the confusion the depth of those feelings cause. When Angela eventually reveals all that she suffered, it’s incredibly heartbreaking. Luca is motivated to seek vengeance on her behalf, even more than the vengeance he wants for losses suffered by his own family.

They have such different circumstances yet really have a lot in common; they were both born into families that gave them no choices as to the lives they would lead. Angela and Luca both grow and change for the better by the end of the book. Neither of them has ever been in love before, and they make painful mistakes. The connection they make and the events in the story make them stronger individually, and formidable together.

For five long years, Luca and his family have been systematically destroying the Cicariello legacy. Following the death/murder of his father and his uncle, they have been biding their time to capture the person responsible and make him pay. The mission to the Long Island home was a simple one, get in, grab him, and get out again. But spotting a light under a door leads to Luca discovering Angela Cicariello hidden away from the world. Taking her as leverage he finds himself settling her into his apartment rather than the basement.

Stolen away in the night Angela isn’t sure what to make of her current situation. Swapping one guided cage for another – although there is no denying that Luca is easy on the eyes. Feeling a connection between them they are pulled together despite it being against what his family wants and her better judgement. Getting her hopes up about a potential future between them it is whipped away when she is told she is to be handed back to her brothers.

There is something about Angela that brings out Luca’s protective nature. Seeing the hurt n her eyes and the nightmares she experiences he wants to hurt those who hurt her. Finding out about her past traumas he is on a mission to rid the world of those despicable people. But as much as Angela wants Luca, she needs to be free not locked away from the world, can Luca let her go?

“Vengeance” is an absolute wild ride in the Carfano Crime Family series that pulled me in from the very beginning and I could not finish fast enough to see what would happen. Each installment of the series gets better and we get a more intimate look into this crime family.

Luca is out for revenge and to make sure his family is the top family. He is willing to stop at nothing to make sure that this happens. When he and the family go in to overtake the Cicariello Family, he ends up bringing home something extra. The daughter, Angela. Angela is someone he was not expecting. Angela has been living in her own personal prison under her father’s paranoid eye. This unexpected change in power is exactly what she needs.

Luca was such a surprise. Based on how he was raised, he was expected to be ruthless and dark. While he is those things in his world, finding Angela flipped a switch in him. His kind are taught not to care, not to get caught up in a woman. Those are pawns in their world. But Angela is the light he needed for his darkness. While Angela had a very tough life until Luca, she is strong and fierce. She overcame her demons with the help of her dark knight. I loved these two together and everything that they became together. I’m already looking forward to the next book and can’t wait to see what happens next.

Rebecca Gannon does it again with this captivating mafia crime family romance entitled Vengeance. It is the third installment in her Carfano Crime Family. In it she chronicles the romantic journey of Angela Cicariello and Luca Carfano. She is the daughter of an enemy crime family. Her father, Joey Cicariello, ordered the murder of his father and uncle. Joey thought their deaths would allow him to step in and take over but, the patriarch and his brother, prepared their sons to take over. Now the Carfanos are engaged in their last and fatal attack on Joey and in the process Luca finds the beautiful Angela locked in her bedroom. Luca is instantly drawn to her and kidnaps her. His brothers are surprised as Luca broke with the plan. Luca and Angela become intimidate. She is plagued by nightmares from what her father forced her to do. Luca helps her cope and deal with these demons. Later when her brothers discover her missing this want her back. They intend to use her the same way her father did to seal deals through sex with her. Will Leo order Luca to return Angela to her brothers? Will there be a rift between the Carfano brothers? Will Angela heal her emotional wounds? Will Luca keep her safe? Will they find a HEA? To find out you must read this book.

I enjoy Ms. Gannon’s writing style. Her plot line is fast moving. I appreciate her skill with literary devices such as conversation dialog and internal monologues, dual POV, and descriptive language. In this character driven plot readers witness the way the lead characters grow. There is also a bit of intrigue connected to the nature of opposing crime families (Cicariello and Carfano).

My Rating: ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

Disclaimer: I received a review copy for free and am leaving this review voluntarily. Thanks to the author and BookSirens.

General Series Thoughts: Available on KU. Run to go read this one! This is a five-star series from top to bottom. With four books, that’s saying something. Each one managed to live up to the one before. I can’t say which one I liked best because all four leading men and women have my heart in a chokehold. STEAMY as all get out. This series is dark, romantic, addicting, and I stayed up way too binge-reading this series. Phenomenally well done. So excited to read the fifth one, which is related but the start of a new family. This is everything a mafia romance series should be. Rebecca Gannon has a new fan.

Book Thoughts:Did I love this one as much as the ones before? Yes! Angela and Luca have my heart. I loved the building of their relationship, the plot, the chemistry. Everything. Another great one.

Steam Meter: ❤️‍🔥❤️‍🔥❤️‍🔥❤️‍🔥 Scorching!

Tropes
-dual POV
-Italian mafia
-dark romance
-second chance

Book 3- Angela and Luca

Not a big fan of enemies to lovers but the way book 2 ended, I had to see what happened.

Angela is the daughter of the man who killed Luca’s father and Uncle. She keeps primarily in her room at her father’s house since she’s the only daughter and the men in her family look down on her.

Luca is second in command of the Carfano Crime Family. He’s at Angela’s house to kidnap her father along with his cousins and brothers. He ventures off to see what’s down the hall and finds Angela. He decides to take her with him. He fell first and hardest.

This book was the saddest of the 3 books with Angela’s story. She really was kept in a gilded cage and all she craved is freedom. This story is told thru dual POVs and ends in a cliffhanger to Katarina’s story. There’s plenty of steamy scenes but 4 stars ⭐️ because I’m a big fan of epilogues to see what happens to our couple in the future. So far none of the books have shown any future with the previous couples but they do pick up where the previous left off.

A dark and complex complex story with a happy ending.
by sewsummore

Luca came to the Cicariello home to capture the man responsible for the death of his father and uncle, he left with both the man and his daughter. Angela had been kept a captive in her own home, unwanted and unloved. When Luca broke down the door to her room he knew he was taking her too. Luka called her “His Little Bird,” he could see the pain and desolation in her eyes and all he wanted was to take the pain away. This was an emotional story that made compulsive reading! There was a darkness in in Angela's eyes that that Luca was determined to remove and replace it with one of love. This was a dark and complex complex story with a happy ending.

When Luca and his brothers stormed the house of the mafia boss who killed their father he did not expect to found Angela. The daughter of their rival, being kept as good as a prisoner by her dad. Something made him took her along with her father, which was not part of the plan. His brothers were not too happy but she caught his attention from the moment he laid eyes on her. And with the sizzling attraction between them, he had a hard time keeping away from her. And when he found out about her nightmares and the reason thereof he swore he would take revenge on those who hurt her. This is a fast paced story, showing hard men who became softer for the women they fell in love with. A good read, as expected, from the author.

I received an ARC from the author and am voluntarily leaving my review. The third book in the Carfano Crime Family series is about Luca and Angela. He is at the Cicariello house for revenge and retribution when he finds Angela. His purpose for taking her begins with one thought in mind and soon changes from there. She should be an enemy against his family. Luca starts to notice and learn more about her. He might be her saving grace while she sees him. She also needs her own closure to the painful life she has had. Thru all of the danger, heartache, surprises and emotions these two found each other. Their story will grip you and make it hard to put down.

My second novel by this author, and I need to find a way to bump her stories up my TBR list!

Angela's story broke my heart!

Luca is out for revenge. Who is this locked away in a room down the hall? Icing on the cake?

Angela fights for all she's worth; despite wanting to be free.

What ensues may be a battle of wills but when fate is around each corner, the fight may be for naught!

I could hardly put this story down. Intense, emotional, angst, healing. This story ran the gambit for me. Drawing so much from my heart, my mind!

I have to go back and read the first two stories in this series! I loved this story so much!

I'm dying for more of this mafia goodness!

Vengeance had the perfect balance of mafia grit and romance. Luca was strong, serious and no non-sense, but beneath that hard exterior, he was oh so dreamy. Patient, kind and let's not forget sexy.
Angela had been broken by the people she should be able to trust most, her family. She knew being born female into a crime family, she was only a pawn.

A modern day Romeo & Juliet, opposing families at war. He shouldn't want her, but he's compelled to keep her safe. She shouldn't trust him, but feels safest when he is near. They each keep their guard up, not wanting to expose themselves too much. But each time they spend time together, pieces of their armor fall.

The pacing of the story was wonderful. Never a dull moment. Loved it!

Luca the underboss and his captive

This is a popular trope, the mafia man capturing the innocent daughter of his enemy, but this one is unique and has a few twists! Luca Carfino, the underboss to his brother Leo's mafia, is y his side always. He's the easy going one, or so it seems. When Luca, Leo and the rest of the crew go to their enemies to capture Joey Ciccerolina they man responsible for the father's murder, Luca finds Angela, the 19 year old daughter. He takes her to his home where he holds her captive. His original motive was to use, her as leverage against the enemy, but his heart quickly shows him otherwise. But Angela has secrets, she's always been a prisoner, she feels broken. The story is fast-paced, hot and steamy.

Luca, his uncharacteristic action.

At last after 6 years of planning and dismantling their enemies business it was time to pick up Joey the head of their enemies family who had their father and uncle killed. Leo who was his brother, head of the family and already back in the vehicle was not happy and that puts it mildly, when Luca get back into the vehicle with a female that he had picked up in the house. This was not the agreement when Joey’s sons had given up their farther in an arranged pickup, Looking at his brothers face when he gave him a questing look, all he said was “later” Luca didn’t know why he had taken her or even who she was but knew he couldn’t leave her there.
Loved the book.

4 STARS!!!

Yes, finally found a favorite book out if the whole series! I feel like out of the three books released so far - Luca and and Angela had the best chemistry. Don’t get me wrong, the two previous couples were scorching hot together - I just didn’t feel their romantic feelings for one another. Ok, this has to be said: I feel like there were WAY TOO MANY sex scenes in one book. I can’t believe I’m saying it! Half the book was just them getting it on with each other, and while I don’t mind it, I do believe that the writer could’ve added more mafia scenes to it instead. For more suspense, you know? I liked the fact that Luca wasn’t selfish enough at the end, that he let her go for a while for her to experience freedom. From a mafia man, that’s the most selfless thing ever!

Angela lived a sheltered life, everything in her life was planned for her no thanks to her father. When Luca goes for revenge he doesnt expect to find Angela locked up in her room, but is taking her from cage to another really any better for Angela? With Angela in his life Luca's hard exterior begins to crumble, but can Angela trust the man who stole her away? well written, steamy action packed read, the story line keeps your attention and the characters develop well through out. this is book in the series but can work as a standalone as well but with overlapping characters.

I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Wow 👍👍👍

I loved this book, we get to jump into the action right away and it doesn't stop. Angela is such a heartbreaking character, she's been though so much and yet she's so strong. Luca is an a$$h0le but he's loyal and will do anything for the people he loves. You can just feel the chemistry and tension coming off the pages and once Angela and Luca give in, boom fireworks 💥💥🔥🔥🔥. The title of the book is definitely what we get and let me tell you when we get that vengeance it feels amazing. You feel the emotions that the characters are going through, I cried so much but I definitely enjoyed the story. I would highly recommend reading this book👌.

I received a free ARC of this book from Hidden Gems for a voluntary and honest review.

Vengeance was so good, loved it!

Luca and his family was out for revenge for the murder of their father and uncle. On the night of the raid of their enemy, he found the beautiful and broken daughter Angela. Luca took her and carried her to his home. But when she had a nightmare, he became her protector and vowed to find out who hurt her. Vengeance will have you in tears from the abuse Angela received at the hands of her father, brothers and the men who raped her. This story was beautifully written and seemed so real. She made the characters come to life and she gave it a happily ever after. I definitely recommend reading this book.

From one cage to another where she finds her freedom

Vengeance is the third book in the Carfano Crime Family series with each book about a different brother. I will preface this by saying that I had not read the two previous books before picking up this one. So I was left wondering about somethings that happen and are referred to in the story which seem to be part of an overarching story-line running through the series. But even with that this was a full on story about two families who are warring and the little dove that ends up getting caught in the middle. I did enjoy this engaging read with characters that I liked but also that had amazing and explosive chemistry.

The third book in this series. This is the story of Luca Carfano and Angela Cicariello. She is the enemy's daughter yet she wants her father to suffer as much as Luca. There are a lot of trust issues and emotional baggage. I love that this story is a little different from the first two. The sparks fly between them from the moment they met even when she refused to be "taken away". The banter between Luca and Angela is a love/hate situation. Luca and Angela's story is a story of suspense, angst, enemies to lovers, protectiveness, caring, passion, and growth. Their story didn't lack swoon, angst, steam, adrenaline rush, hope after devastating past, emotion and hopeful "second chance" love.

I couldn't put it down!

Luca was so hot and surprisingly sweet. The things he does to take care of Angela had me swooning. Angela was so sweet and strong. My first impression of her was she's going to be this sweet lite thing that knocks Luca over, but she has this fight and independent streak. I loved seeing her strength and fight.

There's a fine line between love and Stockholm Syndrome when it comes to the kidnapping troupe. Rebecca Gannon did an amazing job not making me feel like Angela developed Stockholm Syndrome.
