Vivian is a sassy romance writer that likes to brat just as much as she writes. As a fly-by-the-seat-of-her-pants author, she's usually working furiously into the night when her creative juices hit her the hardest. Her books like to take you to the dark side and force you to dip your toes in, but don't drown you. She loves writing alphaholes, anti-heroes, and heroes you just love to hate. She likes to try out everything she's putting her heroines through, so the phrase “for science” is used in her house a lot! When she's not writing, you can probably find her playing Animal Crossing or tormenting her cats and Husdom.

DNF ~80%

1.5* for the writing style only.

Since discovering omegaverse I've been a huge fan, so I'm always looking for a new one. I took a plunge with this one despite not having many reviews with spoilers.
To get things out of the way, I enjoy a slow burn, and I appreciate it in an omegaverse setting where everything is so primal and physical. On the other hand, having the characters not meet for half the book isn't a slow burn IMO. A slow burn is when you establish the tension and connection of the MCs before they consummate their relationship. There was no such thing here.

Positives:
-I enjoyed the writing style

Negatives:
-the MCs don't meet until ~50% in,
-there is no connection/chemistry between the leads. For a while I actually wanted the evil Alpha to be the hero, he was that much more interesting. Sadly I already knew the name of the H so it was disappointing to see another character take the spotlight.
-the first time they have sex, the H is delusional and thinks she is his former mate. The entire time they fuck he calls her by her name and it was just yuck.
Whatever (little) connection they had was shattered. This was also so far into the book that I was already done with it, there's nothing much that can salvage that IMO.

Safety:

Jaxxon, an alpha has been allowed to finally take the omega he’s been dreaming of. Of course another wanted her too and did the unthinkable. Accusing Jaxxon of a crime he didn’t do, moment after claiming his little omega, he was forced under cryo-sleep for 100 years. 😭

Upon waking up, the world is nothing like it used to be. It’s an entirely new reality for him.

Annora is an omega under the disguise as a beta. She takes blockers to conceal her true self for in fear she’d be brutally ravished and killed. Having to take care of her sister alone, she has to go through dangerous territory and ration her food to the point of starving just to afford these blockers for herself and sister. It’s dangerous and dark times.

It becomes a shitshow when her true self is out and ends up in an omega auction for these alphas and betas to bid on these females.

Annora has a similar scent to Jaxxons first mate. And it makes him gather all of his coin that he saved up 100 years ago as well as with some help, he wants to do everything he can to get this omega. There is something about her that he feels like she Is meant to be his.

If you like omegaverse with dominant alphas, knotting, scenting, nesting, mating rituals that include biting/marking and all things that has to do with dominant/submissive omegaverse trope has, this book is freaking amazing. I found this author through one of her newer vampire books so I was really interested to see how she would perceive the entire omega verse trope and she absolutely did a phenomenal job. I have quickly become such a huge fan of this authors writing.

We get an epilogue that starts the beginning of Annora’s younger sister’s story and I can’t wait!

This was such a beautifully written story, I miss the world already!

I am admittedly an Omegaverse newbie. That was not an issue when diving into this book, and I am now hooked and need all the Omegaverse!

Not only was everything well told, the world building is impeccable. You’re immediately transported there from page one. Completely engrossed in the world and feeling the characters intense connections.

Jaxxon is our Hero, and what a hero he is. He is strong, intense and demanding - all things you would expect from an Alpha - but he is also compassionate, honorable and thoughtful.

Annora is fierce when she needs to be, with a soft heart. She’s had a rough life and things are never as simple as they should be. She never gives up, never backs down, and I loved every bit of it.

This was an amazing read, and I can’t wait for more in the series. It was unexpected, refreshing, and kept me needing more. Easy five stars! As with all dark romance please mind your triggers!

I'm a sucker for a good omegaverse book, but this book wasn't just good, it was AMAZING! I've read a lot of books in this genre/trope and this one easily jumped to the top of my list of favorites.

I need more Alphas like Jaxxon in my life. I went into the book expecting the traditional omegaverse H (which of course, I absolutely love) but ended up getting an Alpha who was so much more. He is strong, dominant, hot as hell in bed and an Alpha in every sense of the word. Yet he also knows when a gentler hand is needed, and even hotter, when a firmer one is too. And once you meet his omega, you'll see she definitely needs both. 🔥 🥵 🔥

Jaxxon's past was incredibly unique and something I haven't seen before in this world. You quickly learn that Jaxxon is an honorable Alpha, serving his duty to the crown while looking for his omega. Unfortunately, not everyone in this world is as honorable as Jaxxon, and the life he knows is ripped away when he is wrongfully imprisoned. When he awakens from his cryprison, he finds a world that is so different from the one he knew.

Which leads us to our heroine, Annora. An omega desperately trying to hide her dynamic in hopes of keeping her and her sister safe. Her strength shines as she endures struggle after struggle, never hesitating to put herself at risk if it means her sister has a chance at a life free of the shackles of being an omega.

I absolutely loved watching these two come together. Although they face some major challenges, you know there's only one way this is going to end. With Jaxxon claiming his little omega. 😍

Amazing story and the author did an excellent job with the worldbuilding and even better with the exploration of what a true Alpha/omega bond looks and feels like.

LOVED IT and can't wait to see what happens in book 2 (different H and h).

Too wordy. Too much in MCs heads - paragraphs and paragraphs of internal thoughts. No worldbuilding. Uneven pace. Plotholes. Alpha was a loose cannon - weak.

New to me author. Decent read. Good world building. But much like many first books in a series it dragged quite a bit especially in the first 50%. The two MCs don't truly meet or interact until almost 45-50% if I remember correctly. Naturally that was a bummer for me. Understandable considering the amount of information dumped on us to set the scene but regardless it was tiresome to trudge through a couple of times I'll admit.

The author offered plenty of trigger warnings and admittedly some gave me pause but I thought I'd give it a shot anyway because it's omegaverse and I suspend alot of tolerance and morality with these types of books. Overall it wasn't nearly disturbing or upsetting as I expected. The hero's past with his first mate was difficult to read there at the end of the prologue. But it all goes to explain how everything happened to lead to the first chapter. Many of the heroines interactions are uncomfortable and distressing. She's often molested, threatened and nearly raped a few times before meeting the hero. It was a little disturbing with the frequency of it tbh but she had mostly one tormentor so it wasn't a bunch of random people and occasions.

Now, I had some issues that nagged me. The writing was fine and the pacing. I found nothing annoying there. My issues came from the following:

- The Father, aka the leader of the ragtag rebel group (I can't spell or remember his real name so 🤷🏻‍♀️) was infact the heroine Annora's father whom she thought to be dead for years. I guessed as much before it was revealed but that wasn't my problem. My problem was that the author never exposes this secret. Literally, Annora thinks she scents her father when they arrive at the bunker but chalks it up to her imagination considering she was reverting back to being an Omega. And then she's closed up in her and Jaxxon's home for what I assume is atleast a week or two and never comes out. Jax never brings her out either. And so we never get a confrontation between the two. But then when Jaxxon is speaking to her father closer to the end of the story her father almost slipped and called her his daughter and corrected himself before he could. So obviously he was aware his daughter was alive and had become the mate of Jaxxon but didn't request to see her? To explain why he was still alive? To explain where he had been all these years and why he stayed away and left her to raise her sister and fend for themselves?????

Literally this bugged me so damn much. Why even introduce this mystery if you don't utilize it? It was absolutely wasted in this story. Especially because Annora finally sees him and realizes he is in fact alive when he comes to her rescue but then gets murdered right in front of her. Wonderful! Spectacular! Thank you for such a wasted scene that I had to experience. I was so frustrated by this. Why bother letting him survive his mates murder o my to kill him and we never get any closure?!?!

- Why did Annora NEVER bring up her sister to Jaxxon? All that time together where she can feel everything through their bond and feels like she can trust and rely on him and not once does it occur that she should admit she had a sister she gave directions to go into hiding? That she was concerned for her and maybe ask for him finding her to protect her too??? Never? Really, girl? I know the orgasms were great but damn. I felt like she came across selfish with how focused she was on them sexing and her new feelings and urges as a true omega that she didn't bother pushing to find her sister no matter "how worried" she was.

- I didn't particularly like that Jaxxon claimed Annora while in a PTSD sort of blackout where he took out his anger and hurt over Annalise on her. Their first time was tainted for sure. Yes, he didn't truly hurt her. Yes, he still restrained himself despite the blackout rage he experienced. And massive yes did that fucker feel major guilt over claiming her in that fashion and sought to atone by having the other Alpha Langston punish him. And I appreciate he opened up and explained everything directly after but man the grovel wasn't as long as it should have been for me. I was fine with Annora moving past it rather easily but I would have appreciated a little holding out on her part or even his thinking maybe he didn't deserve her easy forgiveness or understanding?? Meh.

- The end was rather obnoxiously predictable. Why did we have to stamp stupid on our relatively cool and strong heroine Omega?? She seemed rather intelligent tbh and then oh somehow her sister contacted her on the datacom that belongs to Jaxxon that even Annora notes should be impossible for her sister to find and contact in the first place! But noooo. No. She still can't take the chance and immediately runs right into a trap by the bad guy which of course is a descendant of the original bad guy in the prologue. Why did Annora have to run willy nilly into danger even though everything reeked of stupid and a set up so obviously?? Could we not get point A to point B any other way? Ugh. The heroine lost major points at that point for me.

I don't know if I'm too interested in her sister who seems like a whiny spoiled brat. I might give her book a shot but it's not looking positive I won't DNF it if she doesn't grow and isn't ridiculously immature the whole book. So we'll see.

Overall this WAS interesting. It had it's issues, obviously, but I still enjoyed it.

Dark Revolution is the first omegaverse I've written. When writing it, I really wanted to capture the gritty, harsh realities of a dystopian future where religious overtones dictate the lives of all under their strict control. This book for sure has some dark moments, but there's always a light at the end of the tunnel. Jaxxon is for sure OTT JP but always has Annora, his omega at heart.

I'm pretty conflicted on my feelings about this book. The writing is excellent and the world building is outstanding. If you're a fan of dystopia, this book certainly has its appeal. I also really enjoyed getting to know the MCs separately. Ms. Murdoch created very thorough back stories for both that explained their motivation well. Where the book lost me was the actual romance. I felt like Jaxxon was too hung up on his former mate and he even blacked out and imagined he was mating the her the first time he was intimate with Annora. I saw their physical alpha/omega bond but not when it came to any actual relationship growth and real chemistry. I believe this is the result of not having them meet till halfway through the book as well as the dead ex trope. The writing was good enough that I'd give the next book a try and see if the romance gets better in that one.

I need a Jaxxon in my life! I have to say... He is one of my all time favorite Alphas after reading this story! I loved how this story started out showing his sweeter and softer side. How as the story continued it shows the darker side of him. His discovery of it and embracing it as he realizes that is what his Omega Annora needs and wants from him even if she can not come straight out and tell him this as she doesn't have the words for it.

I loved Annora in this story. Although I was annoyed with her sometimes with her defeatist attitude, but every time something got her down she picked herself back up and came up swinging. She had lots of spunk and the will and desire to protect her sister Karis from everything and everybody. I loved how when she was caught and knew there was no hope she used her few remaining minutes of freedom to warn her sister so that she could flee to safety. I have to say that I also loved the fact that she was the one that brought Caulder to his knees and ended his treacherous life.

I hated how the Omegas were suppressed by the Alphas in this story. The wickedness of depravity of the Alphas in this world was truly astounding. Most Omegaverse stories have at least some version of the Omega being suppressed by the Alphas but not to this extent... They have kept everything from the Omegas about their dynamic. Convinced them that what makes them so valuable to the Alphas is a thing of shame and something that shouldn't be touched. That they have no worth if they are not pure or pristine as they call it.. and even then their pristine is no guarantee of happiness or protection in anyway. The ruling factor of this world is truly corrupt. I have to say I was extremely happy to see it brought to its knees in this story.

I also have to say I hope to know more about Gemhardt story in the future books in this series. Some of my questions about him were answered... but not to my satisfaction. I still have questions.. How? Why? I need those answers. Yes I am intentionally being vague here because I don't want to give away any spoilers. You have to read this story yourself to see what I mean.

This brings us to Karis.. lord have mercy with this girl. She is the true definition of a rebellious teenager. Her story is next in the series. I hope she learns just how much her sister sacrificed for her and appreciates what was given up for her to keep her safe. I also hope the two of them are reunited. Annora deserves and needs that so much.

Serious twists and surprises I did not see coming!
What a fabulous start to a new series!

This is an A/b/o that takes place in a post-apocalyptic world.
The first chapter is set a hundred years prior
Sets up some of the similarities in thinking and the drastic differences of the landscape after the "changes"
Full of action, misdirection, and as with most darker omegaverse there is power exchange and the controversial scenes you expect from darker omegaverse reads-
So if that is not your cuppa...

Jaxxon was a warrior. He lived his life by a code of honor.
After a battle with a jealous Alpha he awakens to find that, quite literally, his entire world is gone.
Still processing the changes and his loss he just wants to settle down, start again. Live a quiet life.
He doesn't want to be a part of their war. He doesn't care.
Until her.
Some things are worth dying for.

Annora is spit and vinegar.
I had so much trouble even picturing her as a submissive omega (she didn't cave easily if at all lol)
She has spent her life fighting to keep her and her sister safe from the Alphas, the Betas.
Free to make their own choices.
And she is not letting him or anyone else risk that freedom

Great dynamics between these two
A bit of push and pull until they found their sweet spot.
Their relationship dynamics, the interaction, and how aware of her emotionally Jaxxon was
(he does have a PTSD episode but for me, it was an important part of his growth) *sigh*

This has a lot of action, and twists you do not see coming - some are pretty obvious
I was a bit disappointed about the father - I wanted to know more (you will see)
The author built a solid universe with great characters and a storyline that keeps you engaged
It did lull at times but it was more a laying of the foundation for the series and me being impatient to see what happened next I think
There were scenes that I would have liked more detail to - again probably just me being greedy
This ends with a HEA and a glimpse at book two which I am excited to get my hands on

a personal note here -
I normally do not read reviews before a book because I like to go in a blank slate for lack of a better descriptor- I did browse this one and glanced at a couple of negative reviews and I almost passed this one up. Turns out the reviewer(s) did not read the same book as the events were quite different as well as the dynamics
Really glad I didn't

So this is the first Omegaverse book I've ever completed. Also only the second one I've tried to read.

These days world building is hard for me to comprehend. So every once in a while I give it a lil go to see if maybe I can concentrate enough for it. And honestly, I think I did pretty well this time around. Obviously, if you are an Omegaverse reader the world building shouldn't be an issue. I'm told there's a basic formula but of course, authors put their own spin on things. So that being said this world is now how ill base any other Omegaverse book.

Annora is an Omega masking and passing as a Beta. She's raising her little sister (also an omega, I have a great many questions on how all this works) and my god is her little sister a pain. Anyways she gets caught up and when its discovered she is an Omega she's put on the auction block.

Jaxxon is an Alpha has been in a DEEP sleep for 100 years only to come out to find his mate (who was stolen from him) is gone as well as his plans for revenge. He stumbles upon Annora (pre-auction) and bibs on her.

Is she happy about it? Absolutely not. There's a ton of push and pull where these two are concerned. We spend a fair amount of time on that. The time that could've been better spent in other ways ;) if you get what I'm saying.

I learned new terminology. I actually had to text one of my best friends to explain things to me hahaha. But I overall had a pretty good experience reading. I could've used just a smidge more sexy time but I survived.

I love everything about this book and I’m not a fan of omega-verse but this book is not like any other omega-verse book. The story line pulls you from the very beginning. I was on the edge of my seat for most of the book, waiting to see what would happen and how things played out. I love being sucked into a story so much that it feels like I’m in the book. The author did such an amazing job building the world and the characters (whom I’ll get to in a minute) that I didn’t want the story to end.
The Hero, Jaxxon, I love him. He’s the right amount of all that is good and noble but has a dash of bad. He’s possessive and very much an Alpha. His past was literally ripped away from him but his future is everything.
Annora, the Omega, pretending to be a Beta. She’s feisty, stubborn, and very much independent which is not how omegas behave. I love her! She’s afraid for herself and her sister and carries on the rouse of her position for as long as she can.
Their meeting is destiny but there’s a lot of obstacles. Evil Alphas, Annora herself, and the world is truly making it hard for mates to live happily ever after. Will they find their happily ever after? I can’t tell you, you’ll have to read it to find out, but I can promise it’s another amazing story from this fantastic author.

Incredible Omegaverse Story Hidden Beneath This “LYRIC” Cover

So, I ended up staying up all night reading this book — all in one sitting. That’s how good it is. The Alpha/omega world this author created was incredibly fascinating, and I couldn’t help but keep turning those Kindle pages, which is why it was after 4:AM when I finished the book. I think this book is a part of an overall author anthology or series involving song lyrics as a writing prompt or something like that, but honestly, this neutral almost contemporary-like cover hides what a fantastic Sci-Fi / Futuristic / Omegaverse world this story is set in — and how HOT the hero is. This book deserves to be a bestseller, and if it doesn’t end up one, I will know it is because Omegaverse readers were confused by the cover. Because seriously, this story checks all the Omegaverse boxes — nesting, knotting, power-dynamics, etc. — except for the type of cover traditionally associated with this Sci-Fi Romance genre/trope. *NOTE: As with all dark romances, read those trigger warnings before purchase.

Wow!!! This book was amazing. I love the Omegaverse trope and this one was freaking crazy. Vivian Murdoch already has a way with her writing that's just unique. Take her trigger wantings seriously before you jump into her books. If you've read any of her books you will understand what I mean. Now if you love possessive Alfa's, strong Omega's, thrilling escapades😉, a little mystery you'll really enjoy this book.

Jaxxon is an Alfa that's strong, stubborn and has a delicious dark side. He had experienced something totally life changing and had to accept it for what it was. No spoilers sorry. But he finds a mysterious woman that reminded him of his past. Annora is hiding something that she finds to be a curse. She's a strong, smart, and had such love for family female. I loved her fight and wit when she was with Jaxxon. These two were written beautifully together.

I do can't wait for what's coming next in this series!!!

A new omegaverse author, new yummy little bits and pieces of a new world, with all the same equally yummy little OMV things we all know and love: knots and c*m and mating bites and nests and ruts and happily ever after fated Mates 😍😊

I really enjoyed the post-apocalyptic feel, the way the characters came back to life and breathed that same life back into the world around them. As always I love the alphahole who won't take no for answer and does whatever he sees fit to get the woman his heart and soul are after - and yes, even Jaxxon when he was haunted by the ghosts of the past; none of that was his fault, it was a PTSD shitstorm and nothing that could be helped. In all honesty, it probably helped their relationship that much more 🤷‍♀️😊 throw in a surprise or two, or three or five, a happily ever after, a sprinkle of pain with pleasure, and I'm one happy camper 😉😘

Incredible Read

I've never read an Omegaverse Romance before, but of course I enjoyed this book because it was written by Vivian Murdoch. Like all her other books Vivian Murdoch draws you in from the first word. Even though this is a dark book there are still light somewhat sweet moments between Jaxxon and Annora. Jaxxon and Annora go through so much before their paths cross and once that happens it is like destiny, where Jaxxon finally claims his little omgea. This is an amazing tale where we have superb world building, emotions that come off the page and rip at you, and an amazing exploration of what a true Alpha/omega bond looks and feels like. I cannot wait for this Omegaverse Universe to continue and see what happens with little Karis. Highly recommend reading.

I received a free ARC of this book in exchange for an honest and voluntary review.

This is the first Omegaverse book I’ve ever read and also my first book by Vivian Murdoch. I liked this book a lot and am excited to read the sequel whenever it comes.

I will say the book needed to be a bit longer, which is unusual for me to say. There was not enough world building and the political intrigue wasn’t fleshed out nearly enough. Also there were details that just weren’t explained and were just like oh…ok…. So…. How did that happen? Also more time to build the H’s character more would have been helpful.

Overall I enjoyed this book a lot a d definitely recommend it. I’m looking forward to book 2.

overwhelming

This story can cause your emotions to roil, cringe and just overwhelm you. Prelude to a Revolution left me sad but interested to see where the story would go, but Dark Revolution had me get up and walk away from my kindle just like covering your face when watching a scary movie. Vivian Murdoch tells a story with such intensity that you actually feel it. Annora and Jaxxon have a hard storyline but you don’t want the book to end. Am really looking forward to the next book, I highly recommend this series.

Sooo good!!

I love Omegaverse and dark Omegaverse just really does it. Vivian Murdoch does good dark Omegaverse!! Loved the world building, a dystopian society where bad alphas reign….betas are abused, and omegas have no rights… An omega girl hiding as a beta trying to protect her younger sister has series of unfortunate events! READ the PREQUEL!! Gives awesome backstory and context!!! Off to read the next book in this series!!!

I have mixed feelings about this book. I loved the start and the world building was fantastic. There were some serious problems that made me almost give it a 3 though. In particular I was not a fan of Jaxxon. The constant comparison and instalove was a lot. Some other stuff that would be spoilery was not great. However I immediately downloaded the next book after that epilogue and ultimately I loved the world/ a lot of the characters. So I am excited for this series.

really enjoyed

This was a good read. Can be read as a standalone but there is a greater plot that will expand a series. I haven’t decided if I want to carry on even though I did enjoy this read. The only thing I didn’t like was how the H referred to his prior omega as betraying him. She did not willingly do what happened, it was forced on her and for him to refer to that as her betraying him really rubbed me wrong.

Absolutely Fan-Freaking-Tastic 😁

OMG, this was truly one of the best stories in this series 😃. So much pain and destruction, insane ideals, power hungry wolves and the sheep they trample over 😪.bWOW, Thanks again Vivian, once again you've written a wonderful story and I can't wait to read more 🤓.

(0 ⭐️) Some of the weirdest morality surrounding consent and SA I’ve ever read. I genuinely have no idea what the author was trying to convey here but whatever it was, it didn’t work. The story itself was a mixed bag but the amount of grotesque and graphic SA, some positively and some negatively depicted with seemingly no reasoning behind it, ruined any fun this might’ve been.

My first visit to the omega verse and my was it amazing. The chemistry between Jaxxon and Annora was fire. He's an alpha wronged by his own. She's a sassy strong willed omega who was raised as a beta. Together they're a force to reckon with.

Vivian Murdock has made the omegaverse have a soul. Most Alphas are vile uncaring creatures who only want to rut but it hasn’t always been that way. An ancient Alpha appears from the ruins and shows a new side of Alphas. Great read with intrigue, deception and lots of dark seduction.

I’m a sucker for a good omegaverse. This is one of the better ones I’ve read as of late. Good writing, good dystopian world building. Ok character development. Hawt. Overall I quite enjoyed the read. Have already pre-ordered the second one.

First rate read.

I'm in love. Jaxxon, though broken, is perfect. I love his strength and caring dominance. He makes me want to be an Omega lol.
The writing is really good and the background to their story is so good I would enjoy a book just about that.
I intend to buy the next in the series.
