Stormbringer!!!!!!!!!! I'm so glad to have her back, I couldn't live that long knowing that she was dead. My one complaint, I know we all sobbed our hearts out when Storm died, had a miniature party when she came back, but Rachel Roberts needs to know her fans are growing up, and with Shadow Warrior, make it darker. I need a character death. So many of her fans are like 20 years old now, and they and I need something more grown up. Authors have to know this!
In ghost wolf Adrian and the other mages learn that the entire mist wolf pack and the spirit pack are in danger of losing their magic. The dark sorceress and the spider witch are working together to secure a power crystal that has landed in the astral planes, don’t ask me what that is because I’m not entirely sure myself. The dark sorceress and the spider witch have corrupted the spirit of Ravenswood, Orenda. She is an ancient tree that gives magic to Ravenswood and everything that lives and grows there. In this book Dreamer, Adrian’s pack mate, is taken away from her because the newspaper claims he “attacked” someone. Obviously that bitch Beasley Windsor was there with the sheriff to rub it in Adrians face that she was right about the animals on the Preserve being a danger to everyone. I’m so glad she’s not in all the books, she’s being annoying. She’d be the worst neighbour to have, extremely nosy and determined to ruin something that helps animals. Adrian also becomes a level two mage, she briefly gets Stormbringer back. Storm becomes Adrian’s paladin, making her a level two mage. Emily seems to be the only one who hasn’t bonded to an animal. Kara has the dragonflies and Kara, plus her firemental stallion, also her paladin, Adrian has Dreamer and Drake. Drake imprinted on Adrian, I’m not sure if that’s the same as bonding to animals like in this series. Ozzie is a level one mage with his own ferret stone and no bonded animals. Zach is also a level one mage, and he has Drake. They have a deep connection, I’m not sure if they’re bonded though. The mages also learn that they each control an element, Emily is water, Adrian is earth, Kara is fire, Zach is time, Ozzie is wind. These elements help restore the magic to Ravenswood with those rainbow like flowers in book one that Phel spreads. They sound similar to dandelion flowers based on how they describe them and how all the seeds scatter. Only these flowers are rainbow and very magical. I loved reading about the mages making the flowers grow with their own element. I also like how this book was a good fifty pages longer, it actually goes part two hundred which is a decent size for this series. Time to read heart of Avalon.
Adriane still feels a hollowness after losing Stormbringer, and her nightmares reveal dark magic has begun infecting Ravenswood, threatening her home and friends as the Spider Witch weaves a deadly plan - one that involves the mysterious power of the astral plane, and the mistwolves that walk it. Roberts brings another heartwarming, magical entry that will keep fans glued to the pages start to finish, an fantastic flow of emotion and excitement throughout. Is the warrior mage destined to fall into heartbreak, or can she break the cycle and save her love ones?
Rating this based off of how much I loved it when I read it as a child - the intended audience. I this this one was one of my favorites in the series as a kid. Wolves being my favorite animal at the time I'm sure all the wolf content would have been amazing for me. Anywho, I thought this was okay. There was a couple of plot points that I thought were messy - exactly how did Stormbringer become Adrienne's paladin? Also, the humor fell flat but I do like how it was not gross humor like some kids stuff can be - when will adults realize not all kids love fart jokes?
I feel like this brings Adriane’s personal story to a good full circle, as it ramps up to the conclusion in books following if I remember correctly. This really hit the old me that was obsessed with wolves.
I had totally forgotten that the artists switched to a manga style to be more “relevant” at the time, and honestly… I hate it. I remember she switches back eventually but the manga style doesn’t do the beauty and magic and whimsy of her old style any justice.
I love the Adriane-centric books and this one DELIVERED. The magic of the mistwolves is dissolving, and only Adriane can save it. With the help of Stormbringer, her packmate who is, fortunately, not dead! The writing is SO much better than it is in the previous books. Zach, Adriane’s crush from Aldenmor, makes an appearance. Love!
I luv this book! Trust me, if you have read this series, you'd wait 4 months for this 9th book, (I had to). This book is so so so great! Adriane, the warrior, must now travel to the spirit world, and save the mist wolves, or all Adriane was known to love, will be lost, including her home.
I figured out what kind of elemental powers they have and I like that they are bonded to animals. Adrian found her friend Storm, her bonded mistwolf who had died saving her from the Dark Sorceress.
I wish I could put this as a six star rate. This book was about my favorite character learning about the true meaning of friendship, and how to heal sorrow. No spoilers, sorry.
