Phew! It never ceases to amaze me how these Love Inspired Suspense authors find new ways to spin a common trope. That's a wealth of collective imaginations running rampant and reaping benefits to avid LIS readers like me (and hopefully you!) In this book we're looking at a cold case, suppressed memories and the relentless pursuit of uber bad guys. Edge-of-your-seat doesn't begin to describe it. And it all starts off with this chilling opening sentence:
"In the darkness of her bedroom, Carina Collins jerked awake, cold sweat coating her body."
Is that ominous or what? And you know that all is not well in Carina's world, setting the mood for the whole book. Because things are definitely not right and about to get a whole lot worse. Except for our charming hero, that is. He might be a bit rough around the edges with some unresolved issues he's grappling with but that doesn't prevent him from stepping in and becoming involved. Protector, unofficial investigator, occasional babysitter...and swoonalicious besides.
An intense, action-packed compelling mystery paired with sweet romance and the kind of happily-ever-after a girl can dream about.
My review today is on the Love Inspired Suspense, Unsolved Abduction. Jill is one of my favorite authors. So I knew this would be a good read. This story is well-written, action-packed, and full of drama. I know you are going to love it.
Carina Collins has moved to a new town. She wakes from a nightmare of when she was abducted as a child. She hears footsteps downstairs and retrieves her gun. She must keep her son safe. The man enters her room and with a silencer on his weapon, he shoots into her bed. She fires her glock but misses. Her scruffy neighbor shows up with a loaded shotgun. He had called the police.
Ex-homicide Detective Ryder Jameson was unable to sleep. He has a hard time living with his devastating past. He is working upstairs in his home when he sees a man trying to pick the lock of the house next door, his new neighbor. He loads his shotgun and hurries over to help her.
A terrifying journey to keep mother and child safe while a killer is stalks them. God has a plan for these three, a good plan for hope and a future. God has a plan for you too, a plan of peace and not destruction even in a time of political turmoil, chaos, and war. Give Him your heart and watch Him move in your life.
Jill Elizabeth Nelson is a new author to me. I can’t believe she has written so many books and I have only just now discovered her! Her story, “Unsolved Abduction,” is well written with good characters, good storyline, and a few surprises. Carina Collins is a young widow with a toddler son. She is seeking her independence from her controlling aunt. As soon as she moves from Aunt Althea’s house, people start trying to kill her! Thank goodness her next door neighbor, and former cop, Ryder Jameson arrives in time to save her! Can this all stem from her tragic past?
Carina Collins is trying to get settled into her new home and be ready to start her new job in a few days. She is awakened by a sound... There is someone in her home and she is not going to allow herself to be a victim again like she was when she was a 7-year-old child. Fortunately, she has enough time to get out of bed and to have her gun ready to shoot. Lucky for Carina, her next-door neighbor is awake and sees movement at her house. Ryder Jameson is a former police officer, so he grabs his gun and heads out to rescue his new neighbor.
A suspense thriller that has a couple of neighbors doing their best to stay alive after he spots a burglar and arrives in her home in time to stop a paid assassin from taking her out. But the assassin isn't going to give up easily and the retired policeman sticks at her side to protect her. Does it connect back to the kidnapping she can't remember from when she was a child?
Not a lot of clues to follow, so it's more suspense than mystery, but with likable characters and a believable romantic arc (fairly rare in most of these LIS books).
