Xavier The day I walked away from Karissa was the hardest day of my life. Until the mother of my newborn daughter walked out of the hospital and left both of us behind. My daughter and I built a life, just the two of us. We were happy, and we were together. But when she started getting into trouble at high school, a change had to be made. Nothing mattered to me more than her. So, I did what I couldn’t do for Karissa. I embraced small town life. I never expected we’d end up in Karissa’s small town. With her best friend and my best friend starting a family, and trying to make us a part of it. Keeping my distance from her was the smart thing, but I was never the smart one out of the two of us. Karissa I thought of myself as smart. Someone who could use her brains to figure things out. When I designed a dating app, I thought it was good. For everyone except me, apparently. The app matched me with my ex. My ex who decided all the things he wanted in his life were the opposite of what I wanted. Small town? Nope, moving to the city. Regular job? Nope, something big and flashy. Quiet life together? Ha! That was the biggest joke of all. He had all those things. He got the big job in the big city and lived his big life. But now he’s in my small town. He’s eating at my favorite places and making space for himself within my group of friends. He’s infiltrating my world. But he’s not getting back inside my heart.
USA TODAY Bestselling Author Mary E Thompson spent most of her childhood wishing she had a few less curves. She hid in the pages of books because her favorite characters never cared what size her clothes were. Now, neither does Mary, and she writes stories that celebrate women like her. Real women who have curves, chase dreams, and find love, because we should all be happy, no matter our dress size. Mary spends her non-writing time with her husband and two kids, watching too much TV, cheering for her hometown football team (Go Bills!), and hiding chocolate from her family.
I loved how Xavier put his daughter as his top priority.
Karissa Thomas is a 39 year old app designer. She created a dating app which everyone uses. After her mother passed away from breast cancer she had a preventative double mastectomy when she texted positive for the cancer gene. Her best friend's fiance is Xavier's best friend.
Xavier Hogan was her college sweetheart. They were making plans to marry and move back to her small hometown but he changed his mind. Fifteen years later he moves to her hometown with his teenage daughter McJenna. His daughter's mother left them when McJenna was a baby. His best friend Trent owns a mansion and they live with him. He also works for him renovating the local movie theater.

This is book ten of the Book Boyfriend series each book reads as a standalone and each one has a perfect book boyfriend but why read only one when you can read all ten. Most times we get one chance to get it right but when fate has given you a second chance, she expects you to do it right. Xavier fell in love with his college sweetheart planned his future to include her, wanted a family with her and decided to make plans wanting her to follow without confronting her, he decided to go his way with his baby girl, and Karissa well went another way moving to a small town with a broken heart. Fast forward seventeen years Xavier is having issues with his teenager daughter now meaning she keeps getting into trouble so he did the one thing he thought would help packed up everything and moved them to a small town yep you guessed it the same town where Karissa lives. Now it begins to get a little interesting because her best friend and his best friend are together working on getting their family started so avoiding each other isn’t going to be an option but with Karissa not paying him any mind basically ignoring him but his daughter loves her and gets along with her making it nearly impossible to continue avoiding one another yet she isn’t giving him any attention yet the chemistry is still as intense as it was when they were in college and the magnetic pull won’t be ignored no matter how hard she tries but will she accept his apology, will she forgive him, can they capture what they had all those many years ago, will he forgive himself for walking away, and can they find happiness so many years later?.

Xavier and Karissa had been college sweethearts living in a small town and thinking they had their future all mapped out. But Xavier wanted the big city and a chance to find more opportunity. So he left Karissa behind and took off for his destiny.
But when he meets someone and has a child, McJenna, and her mother walks away without looking back, Xavier is left behind as the single parent to his daughter. He does a good job until those teenage years come around and she gets into trouble. Now from this perspective, a small town is starting to look like the best path to choose. And Karissa is still living there.
Karissa has no intention of making things easy for Xavier. But she designs a dating app and it matches her to Xavier. All the things she had wanted for them, he threw away. Now he is back and wanting another chance. Is it time to forgive him and see if their love can bring them to a HEA this time? Or will she continue to resist risking her heart again?
Karissa and Xavier’s story follows the former lovers - deeply disappointed/hurt - never willing to trust again pattern. Her way of thinking and reacting to his tries of establishing sort of an acceptable relationship between them, so the dynamics among their group of friends won’t be too much negativity affected is not always graspable for me. Both have managed to have interesting careers while being apart. However, that aspect of the story when someone tries to torpedo Karissa’s company is only slightly scratched on the surface, this happens to other ideas for the storyline as well, unfortunately. As this was for me the first time to read a book of this series, maybe I miss some background knowledge …still it was in parts confusing me ….

This is book ten in The Book Boyfriend's Wanted series and it is Xavier and Karissa's story. Xavier and Karissa have history that didn't end well well as they both wanted different things and Xavier left breaking Karissa's heart. Now year's later and Xavier is back in town with his daughter and now he is in the same circle of friend's as Karissa but she has already had her heart broken once by him and she doesn't intend for it too happen again so she tries to keep her distance even though it is not always possible or easy. The chemistry between Xavier and Karissa but will they ever eventually give in to it and get a second chance of is it already to late for them to try again. This was a really engaging storyline and it kept your attention throughout and I can't wait to read the next book in this series.
Karissa and Xavier went out years ago, she thought they had their future planned, until he just left. Seventeen years later he's back in MacKellar Cove with his teenage daughter. Karissa hasn't moved on, she still has feelings for him and is very angry with him for what he did. Xavier realised quickly that he'd donethewrong thing, but by then it was too late. Then someone starts maligning Karissa's business and she has to do something about it.

Xavier is back after 17 years with his teenage daughter. Back to a woman and town he left behind. Now he wants a second chance with the woman he could never forget. This is a second chance for Xavier to win back Karissa( the love of his life). They were college sweethearts, but Xavier changed their “future “plans and moved in a different direction.
Karissa moved back to her hometown after college and made a life for herself. Seventeen years later Xavier moved to the same town to work for his best friend and raise his teenage daughter.
This book was a quick read. It’s sweet with little angst.
I love second chance stories. Xavier and Karissa have been apart 17 years before finding back each other. I liked how it was not an easy road for them to work things out: many things have happened during their time apart and hearts were shattered. There are many underlying stories throughout the book, innuendos I did not get because this was the first book I read from a whole series. I will get back to book one and everything will become clear! A nice midlife reunion!
This is a great second chance at romance, they were college sweethearts and had the future planned. The problem was that Xavier changed the plan and expect she would follow him. Now 17 years later they met again, can they get over the past to have a future like they always planned?.

A well written perfectly paced story pulling you in from the start. This story was about second chances and how they are possible. Karissa and Xavier dated in college but went separate ways and now end up back in the same small town. It is a standalone read with plenty of people but easy to keep track of everyone.
If you like second chance, heart wrenching, incredibly written story than you found it here. Within the pages is as an emotionally charged, low anguish with a twist of reality thrown in. I loved how Xavier and Karissa work through their problems. Very interesting from the beginning to end. Highly recommend for mature readers.
Karissa’s love life hasn’t been the best since her Xavier meanwhile he did his thing. They have a second chance at love but can they move forward or has Xavier’s actions caused so much damage there is not a chance? It was a good read not overwhelming with pain for the past.
