“Go on a date,” she said. “You’ll love it,” she said. She was wrong!
It had been one year, two months and seventeen days since my last date. So my best friend Abby decided to sign me up for a dating app. She guaranteed that she could get me the best date of my life within one week. I didn’t really want to do it, but I figured what did I have to lose?
Turns out that I had: 1. $500 2. My dignity 3. My patience and 4. My innocence to lose
OK, so I didn’t really have my innocence to lose, but believe you me, Jack Morrison was my worst date ever. And I’ve been on a lot of bad dates. Trust me when I say that that was the longest ten hours and 33 minutes of my life. I never wanted to see or speak to him again.
But it turns out you don’t always get what you want in life, because Jack showed up the very next day at a family gathering I was attending as a fake plus one. As you can imagine that was a real pickle, Jack wanted to know why I went on a date with him when I’m dating someone else. But he can’t know the whole complicated truth of the matter. I’m in a fake relationship and now I’m being blackmailed by the worst date ever.
That’s not even the worst part. I decided to log onto this new app called “confession board” to seek some advice, but it turns out Jack Morrison is absolutely everywhere and he’s not going to leave me alone until I submit to his demands.
Was this a debut novel? Because that writing was a dumpster fire.
It starts out rough, Isabella is abrasive and tightly wound. She goes on a date her friend set up with Jack. They're both nightmares to the point that I had to go back and reread part because I couldn't figure out how they got from her being offended he touched her shoulder, and saying "what makes you say that" after EVERY comment. And him calling her a gold digger REPEATEDLY. To them having sex. And then BOTH feeling rejected and butthurt afterward
Dumpster fire.
Then we hit the actual plot where Isabella pretends to be Lucas's girlfriend and realizes Jack is his cousin.
Not gonna lie it's so redundant that I genuinely wondered if Isabella had a traumatic brain injury that damaged her short term memory. She repeatedly says or learns something and then on the next page she says/discovers it all over again.
I was ready for an offhand mention to some sort of accident as an explanation.
Like oh hey Isabella we painted the kitchen blue, here's a picture. She'd be all, oh that's nice. Walks into the kitchen. OH MY GOD GUYS LOOK THE KITCHEN IS BLUE DID YOU KNOW THE KITCHEN IS BLUE I CANT BELIEVE IT HOW IS THE KITCHEN BLUE
Not a real example, but stupid shit on the level happened
The hot and cold between Jack and Isabella was more confusing than anything. Like if they don't know which they're doing right now, it makes it hard to be the person reading it. None of it was good.
Dumpster. Fire.
And then we get to the endish. The shift to I KNEW I LOVED YOU FROM THE SECOND I SAW YOU, WE'RE GONNA GET MARRIED AND HAVE BABIES was abrupt and weird. (And complete bullshit)
Weird, but also somehow redundant. Jack seems to have caught her brain injury and apparently forgets he's announced that she's the love of his life a couple times. (Too soon man. Too soon.)
Meanwhile the Grandma is like I KNEW YOU LOVED EACH OTHER I COULD TELL RIGHT FROM THE SECOND I SAW YOU TOGETHER... but they were still in full on dumpster fire hate mode at that point????
If the grandma thinks that's love, holy fuck is there a marriage counselor nearby?
I read it, but I feel like there must have been super secret pages in between because I have no idea how it got anywhere.
If this isn't a debut novel, it's existence baffles me.
Dumpster fire. Dumpster fire. Dumpster fire.
It's so bad, I want to read the next one because it seems like there's no way it could be this bad too.
I remember when I first picked up one of J. S. Cooper’s books, I instantly fell in love with her writing, it was clear that she could piece a story together. As the years have progressed with her writing, the books that I’ve read has changed in a variety of ways, but considering I’ve not been able to keep up every book she’s released it’s hard to see where she’s grown as an author. I don’t even know how many stars I’ve give this book because adding everything up and what I thought about the story, it’s one of those books that just makes it a hard decision. Don’t get me wrong, I love the idea that this story has to offer, but from what I was picturing is completely different to what actually happened. Normally I love that type of idea, but when it’s not exactly been thought out all that well and you can see inconsistencies throughout the story. I understand the hard work that goes into creating these stories, plus I know that it can be a kick to an author when they see that not everyone was in love with the book that they have put out there. However, no matter what happens in life you won’t be able to win everyone over, but it’s just how you handle it is how it will determine what type of person you are. I know for a fact that there’s a huge portion already that think this book was incredibly amazing, but to me I’m not sure what it is that I’m missing. As I already stated, I loved the idea of the story, but there was just so much that just didn’t feel right or even work… but again, that’s just my opinion. I actually found myself not liking Isabella, there was just something about her that just didn’t seem real about her. For example, I get that she would do anything for her best friend, but for someone who wasn’t interested in someone’s family money or even wealth for all that matter if they hadn’t earned it themselves, it sure showed a shallow side of her for going ahead and wanting to try and con her best friend’s family into giving him money so that he can open up his café. Surely if you’re not the type of person who thinks money isn’t important but who you are on the inside is, then I don’t think she should have gone along with the scheme that was taking place. To me it just gave us females a bad reputation, and I hate that now a days we’re most likely referenced to being similar like Golddiggers as the minute we know someone is from money we do anything we can to try and get a bit of it… And in all honesty, I hate that’s how we’re subjected too at times. Hell, if I was Isabella, the minute my best friend even suggested the idea to me, I’d be like as much as I respect you, that’s just something I can’t do… even if it’s for both of our futures I just can’t because I’d much rather find a way to work for what I need. At times I thought Jack was okay, but not fully the best, I get he has issues from the past, but still 10 years is a good while to actually mull over them considering he’s meant to be an adult and be in charge of a company… but I hate how one minute he’s so flirty (well as much as he tries without putting his foot in it) but then in an instant he’s a right jerk, he’s all up in Isabella’s face constantly and it just seems like he doesn’t respect women. I get he’s this big shot guy and could have anything and everything he wanted in the palms of his hands, but still, there’s a way to go about things. I would honestly go into more but I feel like it would spoil the book for you and that’s the last thing I want to happen, plus I don’t want this to turn into one big essay even though I can kind of see that it has a little and that truly wasn’t my intention however I have to be honest and sometimes we have to make choices that we don’t exactly like or want to do… If anything, I’d much rather you experience it for yourself and see what you make of it. It’s okay us leaving reviews, but it’s not our reviews that will make up your mind, it may sway you slightly, but it’s still not your own opinion… that you need to form for yourself. After reading so far, I wasn’t sure if I was going to be able to read to the end, as this story has the ideas, it’s just not been executed all that well. It seems like the story was rushed and I hate it when that happens as I love getting to know the ins and outs of them all, the gritty little details, but still there was just so much that didn’t work in my opinion. Even the whole Worst Date got brushed over, okay they would go back to it every now and then, but in terms of Isabella wanting to have it out with Abby, that didn’t really happen… Abby didn’t exactly feel guilty for how things played out between Isabella and Jack. If I’d done that to my friend, I’d be feeling so bad and guilty considering all I’d want is for them to be happy, to experience a fun time especially when it comes to them trying to find their forever person. I’d be going up to my friend and doing my best to actually apologise for how things turned out, but that never happened in this book. To sum up this book and what I thought of it, it’s been such a hard process and I know for a fact it’s going to either upset people or possibly have so many that don’t agree with what I’ve thought and said, but at the end of the day, reviews are our own thoughts, what we think. Don’t get me wrong, I feel bad for how this has turned out, but we can’t love every book that is ever published. But even still, don’t just take my word for this, go and explore for yourself as you’ll most likely think something else to me.
Isabella and her friends haven’t been on dates in a while, they always end up picking the worst guys possible. So, when Abby (one of Isabella’s best friends/ flatmates) suggests of setting each of them all up for online dating, the only catch is that the persons who profile it is wouldn’t get to have access to it, everyone but Isabella can’t help but jump at it. After Abby manages to find her the perfect date, Isabella knows instantly that she should just turn around and not walk into the restaurant, but still Isabella can’t help but want to please people… so she does the only thing that her feet allow her too, walks into the restaurant and ends up having the worst date ever. Something is off about the entire date, even after making the stupid mistake of going back to his and sleeping with him, he just instantly switches and starts making demands of her. Doing the only logical thing, Isabella walks out, hoping to never see the jerk again… But clearly luck isn’t on her side as when she goes off to help her best friend, the last person she was expecting to see was her date (Jack) from the night before…. Realising that he is related to her best friend, she could literally cry… Will Jack give up and out her or does he have something to score with her???
Unlikeable, combative, presumptuous FMC who whined pessimistically throughout . Also, good third of her dialogue so far consists of her saying, "what's that supposed to mean?".
It's not all on her though, the MMC is quite a smarmy, cheesy ass.
Was it the worst date ever? Not even close, but maybe it wouldn't have turned out that way if the FMC had checked her attitude at the door.
Isabella is tired of trying to find someone to connect with. Her last boyfriend left a bad scar in her brain. She is tired of the bar scene and dating aps that don't seem to work. One night, she and her three best friends came up with an idea. They would write each other's profiles on dating site. They would try to find the best person for each other. What can go wrong with this plan?
Jack is use to people knowing who he is. He is wary of women who just want him for his money. Setting up a dating profile sounded like a good idea. When Isabella's friend set up a date, it doesn't go as planned. He admits, to himself, that he was a jerk on it. Talking about stuff that Isabella doesn't know about because it was her friend talking, posing as Isabella. What a mess the first and probably last date this turns out to be.
J.S. Cooper's story is funny and charming. There are great moments of laughter and also sweetness. The friendship aspect of the story is amazing. How they look out for each other and support their decision. This a fun book for those days or nights you need something light hearted to read. I am excited to see what happens in the next book in this series.
I received an advanced reader copy of this book and this is my voluntary and honest review. This is the first book in this series and what an amazing story. Isabella lets one of her roommates set her up on a dating app. When she meets Jack, their date doesn't go like she thought. He is very hot and extremely handsome but very arrogant. She agrees to act as her gay best friends girlfriend at a weekend trip to his grandparents. Once they arrive she sees Jack who is Lucas's cousin and the head of the family company. Their attraction is still off the charts. Lucas finally comes clean to his family and Isabella and Jack finally get their happily ever after.
After being betrayed by her ex, Isabella is content without a man in her life but her best friends don’t agree. Not only have they created an online profile for her but they have arranged a date for her as well the only problem is that blind dates seldom turn out as planned.
From the moment she meets Jack the sparks of antagonism fly and the sarcastic banter begins. She knows that they don’t have a future together, but one steamy night would be okay and then they can go their separate ways. She is about to find out that fate has other plans as a favor for a friend brings Jake back into her life and that is when the fun really begins!
Although Isabella and Jack got off to a rough start there was no denying the chemistry and connection between them. Misunderstandings, humorous interactions and intriguing characters leave us wanting her friend’s stories as well.
Train wreck. Or a plane crash? Which is worse? Because this one... oh my god ... Oh. My. God. The heroine drove me up the wall. The hero made me want to bang my head against hard surfaces. The hero and the heroine together... made me want to throw my kindle out the window. Their dialogue was stilted and awfully painful to read. I quite literally read the second half of the ... story diagonally and liberally skipping some paragraphs. I forced myself through this one simply because I chose this book as my book club read for October, 2023.
This book has so much potential but also so disappointing . Are there no beta readers?? So many mistakes!!! Locas instead of jack, jack instead of john. At 87% i just quite This book need professional editing, it would be amazing it will!!
Not what I was expecting. A decent story, but not what I was expecting based on the story synopsis. I read the whole book and no where in the story does Jack blackmail Isabella, and she doesn’t go onto an app for confessions where she looks for advice. Based on two key factors I was expecting to happen missing from the book, I was a bit disappointed in the overall storyline. I was also expecting two narrators, but the entire book is narrated by the female narrator and only the bonus epilogue is done by the male narrator. Disappointing.
It was such a mess that I stopped reading mid-word. I just couldn't go on any longer. Aside from grammatical errors, reading the dialog was like watching something move fast in a circle. The behavior on their first date was a constant repeat of insulting one another, stereotyping, misunderstanding the other person and asking "What? What do you mean by...?", shallow compliments and overall acting rude on both sides. I didn't feel a thing, the words I read... it was as if I was forced to read them that they had no emotions, no nothing, just "read and get it over with". Overall, it was so unenjoyable, I permanently deleted it from Kindle, despite luckily getting it for free from Amazon Kindle.
I always know I’m going to smile and laugh when I read a book by JS Cooper and this book was no exception. Isabella and Jack just can’t seem to get it right and Isabella just can’t get away from him when he’s literally everywhere. The back and forth banter between these two was priceless!!
I got 20% in and I couldn’t take it any longer. The writing is abysmal. Reads like a high school junior’s essay about their weekend. The dialogue? Cringe-worthy. Made no sense. There was no flow. It was painful, to be honest. Isabella is needlessly abrasive, and, frankly, came off ridiculously dumb. She had zero social skills and was just argumentative from the get-go.
Isabella & Jack’s Story Is A Wacky Romance About The Worst Date Ever & All The Drama That Follows! A Light-Hearted Quick Read Filled With Zany Humor.
This is book one in The Worst Ever series which follows four twenty-eight year old roommates in New York City. It is Isabella and Jack’s story.
Isabella, twenty-eight, hasn’t been with man is over a year. A cheating ex didn’t exactly leave her eager to put herself out there again. She misses being in a relationship, but she isn’t lacking in good friends. She and her roommates – Emma, Chloe, and Abby – are all in the same boat. They met during their freshman year at Columbia, and their friendships have endured in the decade since. They share a cramped apartment in Little Italy as they struggle to get ahead. Since none of the roommates have had much luck dating, Abby suggests that they try something new. None of them like dating apps, but she suggests that they create profiles for one another and set up blind dates. Abby talks Isabelle into going along with the idea for just one date, and she sets it up without Isabelle’s involvement.
An artist, Isabella enjoys working with watercolors and teaching a class here and there. Her gay best friend Lucas – whom she also befriended while at Columbia – has dreams of opening his own coffee shop, and if all goes as planned, he wants to let her showcase her work there and offer classes, giving her a home base and exposure for her work. It would be a dream come true for them both, but there is a hitch. To finance the business, Lucas must ask his grandparents for an advance on his inheritance, and his grandparents, he fears, won’t help unless he meets their expectations. Lucas has not come out to his family, too afraid it wouldn’t sit well with his grandparents. They are hoping for great-grandchildren to carry on the family line, but to date they have none, and Lucas doesn’t want children of his own. He has convinced Isabella to accompany him to their home for a family weekend in Greenwich, Connecticut where the pair will pretend to be dating. Lucas hopes this will buy him some goodwill. Since they have been best friends for years, they might be able to pull it off, but Isabella knows her acting skills are lacking, and Lucas’s aren’t so great either. There are no guarantees.
Just before leaving for Greenwich, Abby arranges for Isabella’s date with a man named Jack Morrison. She has no idea what Abby said to him while pretending to be her, so she is already at a disadvantage. Things start off on the wrong foot, but the evening only gets worse from there. Jack is arrogant and insulting, but then again Isabella is in a combative mood. Their one-liners keep coming, and the mood is dizzying as they rotate between trading insults and finding common ground. Their date truly is the worst ever, but underneath their chemistry sizzles. Things begin to get steamy, but they always seem to veer back to shocking insults. It ends in disaster. Isabella is thrilled to put the worst date ever behind her and head to Greenwich with Lucas, but little does she know that trouble will follow her. Eventually, though, she finds her happy ending.
Book two in the series, Worst Boss Ever, follows. It is Abby’s story.
Isabella’s story is light-hearted and filled with zany humor. There is a lot of over-the-top banter that is very entertaining. It isn’t always politically correct – but good comedy rarely is. Isabella might be insulted at times, but she also bounces right back and gives as much as she takes. She is a strong character, which is nice.
There are a few issues that merit mention. First, there are some references to time that are confusing in the ARC copy, but they may have been cleaned up in the published version. Second, Isabella’s best friend Lucas struggles with the idea of coming out to his family. For many, this struggle might seem dated. That is addressed in the story, though.
Isabella and Jack’s story is a wacky romance about the worst date ever and all the drama that follows. It is dialogue-heavy and a fairly quick read. The plot is simple. This story is the first in a series and introduces characters that will have their own stories told in turn. The story is told in first person in Isabella’s POV. I rate this book four stars.
I received an advance copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
In another book in this amazing authors catalog we are get the first book in The WORST date series.
What happens when what Isabella was hoping for could be anything but? They say first impressions are everything so for Jack and Isabella it was a disappointment for sure. But when sparks eventually happen watch out because it’s a pure joyous read.
The author writing is flawless, and the words are so captivating, the plot had so many twists and turns and none that I was expecting, and many shockingly intimate I have become a huge fan of this author. The author writes with so much intensity and emotion pulled from each book it’s felt page after page. Some are quick witted story lines are so perfect and lets you believe you have a front row seat. So being able to read this love story didn’t disappoint. The authors ability to have two separate individuals struggling in their everyday life and try to navigate someone else’s thoughts, needs and desires was intense and gives all the fills.
Authors Blurb: “Go on a date,” she said. “You’ll love it,” she said. She was wrong!

This book has everything I love in a book. Then you add that it's beautifully written and believable. It is easily a five star read. Written in dual POV my personal favorite this story flows so incredibly well that the next thing you know your 80% into the book and loving every second of it. The believable way the characters interact is perfect. Run, Hop, Jump or use your (1 click) finger to do whatever you have to do and get this amazing book. It'll break your heart, you'll want to scream with frustration and it'll let you discover that love just might conquer all. The chemistry is steamy and sweet and oh so romantic.
I knew that this book wasn't going to be the best, simply from it's score here. I went into it anyway, just to see what the fuss was. I was uncomfortable in the beginning, but things got a little better. Then, at the end, all of a sudden things were different. None of it really made sense.
So far, I am at 9% in, and I am already irritated. Seriously, who thinks going into a date by lying right off the bat is a good idea? You are hoping to find someone to date, but you can't even be honest from the start? If she had explained what happened from the beginning, she could have saved herself a lot of problems. Not to mention, why would her friend set her up like that and say she was really into sports?
OK, now I'm at 11%, and I can get her anger, when he calls her Miss Piggy.
18% - the dialog is really off-putting. I totally see her being combative and rude, but he is, as well. At this point, I don't see why they are still sitting on their date much less understand how they will end up together. And now they are planning to go back to his place, when they can't stand each other. I just... I don't get it. Honestly, I don't like either one of them.
OK, after we get past the truly cringe-worthy date, things seem to be getting better. Yes, I know the date was supposed to be bad, but honestly, the writing was, too. I hated both of them. Aaaand just like that, their terrible banter returns. Ugh.
I didn't really understand at the end them confessing how much they like each other, too. Supposedly it is more than sex, and yet they have barely spent time together. Not to mention, they seemed to hate each other, but now all of a sudden they don't? And after confessing he really likes her and it isn't just sex, he seems to just ghost her for a couple weeks (barring business communication). This whole situation is bizarre and not really believable.
I'm giving this 2.5 stars, rounding down to 2, which is pretty generous in this case, but I am not going to continue the series. I would not recommend anyone read this.

One fantastic read with lots of great banter back and forth between Jack and Isabella. Things get off on the wrong track, when Isabella's roommate, Abby sets up a dating profile for Isabella and Abby has additional contact with said date, Isabella was never allowed to see any of the communication. When Isabella met Jack, he continually made reference back to the information prior to their date. They end up sleeping together. Then he asked her what the real game was since most of her story was disjointed all night thanks to Abby. He called her a gold digger after, she paid $600. for their dinner. By that time she was boiling mad so she dressed and went home. The next day Isabella was meeting one of best friends to go with him to visit his family for the weekend. Her friend, Lucas was gay and had not told his family yet. The family was extremely wealthy, and Lucas was going to ask his grandfather for an advance on his trust, so he could open a coffee shop/art exhibit studio. Isabella was going as a fake girlfriend, because he thought his grandfather would be more likely to give him the money if it looked like he was going to settle down and have kids. The weekend did not go quite as planned, the whole family was coming including the other grandson, John that ran the business and took care of the family was going to be there. Isabella was totally shocked when the other grandson actually turned out to be Jack. Now what were they going to do? This was definitely a book I could not put down until I finished. There were so many wonderful twists and turns, you never knew what was going to happen next.
There were times that Isabella wanted to do harm Abby for the situation that Abby had put her in on the date and then at the weekend. Sometimes I wondered if there was more than air in Abby's head the way her character acted.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Isabella and her best friends are in a dating slump and tired of men just looking for a good time. So Ella decides they should all sign up for the dating app but the catch is, they sign each other up. The friend would create the profile and pick the dates for the other. The dater does not get to see the profile or the date choices but must agree to go on a date. They all agree to give it a try thinking it can't be worse than the dating pool they are picking from now. Jack is the CEO of his family’s company that has been passed down through the generations. He is not only responsible for the company but managing the trusts of all his cousins as well. He is use to people wanting to know him for his money and influence. He has been burned in love and doesn’t believe he will find someone to love him for him. All this has made Jack arrogant and crusty. He joins the app to find someone for a good time. When these two are matched sparks fly and not all of them good. When they are at the same weekend get together can they remain civil?
This is a heart warming story of first impressions, off the charts chemistry, family obligations and broken hearts. Cooper writes great characters with depth. I think the dialog could be cleaned up some. It seemed a bit flat. I did enjoy the banter between the characters and Isabella’s quirky best friend.
I received a review copy of this book from the author. I am voluntarily leaving a review.
Worst Date Ever is book #1 of the A Time For Love series by author J.S Cooper and is a romantic comedy full of humor, fun banter and steam. In this story, Isabella and her two roommates agree to make dating profiles and find potential dates for one another on a dating app. Much to Isabella's dismay, she has a date set up but has no clue of the conversations her roommates have had with her date. All she knows is his name, Jack Morrison. The date is something of a disaster as snipes and witty remarks are made between her and Jack. Suffice to say, everything her roommates said during their online chats is the exact opposite of what she is. Isabella finds Jack infuriating but attractive but agrees to spend the night with him. After all, she's never going to see him again so why not have fun? That is until she agrees to accompany her gay best friend to a family reunion and plays the role of his lover as he is too scared to come out to his grandparents. Who does she happen to run into at this family reunion? None other than Jack Morrison, who happens to be her best friend's cousin. This story was sweet, and hilarious. I loved the banter between Isabella and Jack. They had somewhat of a love/hate relationship but were so drawn to one another at the same time. I enjoyed this story and am can't wait to see what happens in the next installment of this series.
I wanted to love this book, the plot and angle was enticing.
FMC, is annoyingly uptight and a snobby. She lets her friend create a profile and agrees to go on a date with a man whom she had no access to what was discussed on the dating app. Already a dumpster fire and sure way to guarantee a train wreck of a date. Instead of being honest, she makes it like Jack is the asshole, when all he’s doing is feeding off of their previous messages. She went into the date with a bad attitude and then surprised when her bad attitude is met with the same energy. I couldn’t imagine wasting energy and being deliberately disrespectful on a date, I ultimately didn’t want to be on. She may not be a gold digger, but how much self respect do you have to lack to “I’ll at least get a free dinner and sex” out of the whole thing, especially with someone you decided you don’t like? I laughed at how much pride she choked on to pay the tab (she purposely racked up) to disprove his point.
I absolutely adored Lucas’ grandparents. FMC chills out and the cat and mouse games begin.
The HEA ending lost a star simply over how disgustingly cheesy it all of a sudden became. If hallmark had spicy sex scenes, this would fit nicely in their collection, except the FMC is more lovable in the hallmark brand.
Worst Date Ever is a fun fluff sort of a book that was just the right thing to relax with after a long, stressful day. The heroine Isabella and her friends aren't having much luck dating and they come up with the idea to let someone else pick a date for them. Isabella's friend Abby creates a dating profile and arranges a date with Jack for her. Isabella doesn't know what Abby told the man while chatting, and this makes for a really awkward first date when Jack has expectations that she can't fulfil and she seemingly contradicts herself several times. It doesn't take long for Isabella to think that he's a jerk but he's a hot jerk and the sex is good. She doesn't expect to see him ever again. But her gay best friend Lucas needs a beard for a family shindig and of course Jack turns up there.
If you're looking for deep character development, and angsty, soulful connections this book may not be for you but I was royally entertained from start to finish. The fake relationship plot line with Lucas came a bit out of the blue and I thought it might have been better if it was foreshadowed it a bit more in the beginning. I received an arc from Booksprout and this is a voluntary review.
4.4 stars This is the first book in the A Time For Love series and it is an entertaining read. Isabella is a twenty- eight-year-old woman who has not been with a man for a long time. In order to get back on the horse, her three roommates decide to create dating profiles for each other and set up some blind dates. They all happen to be in the same boat as all of the women have had less than stellar luck when it comes to dating. Making the stakes a little higher, the woman who winds up finding her match and getting married has to pay the roommate that set up the date one thousand dollars. Jack is a handsome male with a cocky personality that winds up on a date with Isabella. The two enjoy a night of trading insults. The banter between them shows that each one gives as good as he/she gets and it seems to work for them. They wind up having a one-night stand. Fast forward a few hours and Isabella is visiting her best friend’s grandparent’s home and is in for a heck of a surprise. Can Isabelle and Jack make something work or will they each be held back by their respective pasts? I cannot wait to see what the author has in store for Isabelle’s roommate Abby in the next book.
Isabella and Jack, what a way to start a date. Jack comes off as an arrogant alpha male but something about him just appeals to Isabella. Really first off, never and I mean never let your friend talk you into setting up your dating profile and then talking to the guy without you knowing what they said to each other. It never ends well.
In this case, this just explodes but in a funny later when we look back at it not right now situation. Isabella is here for the weekend as the fake girlfriend for her bestie that hasn’t come out to his family. Lucas needs her help to convince the family that he is in a committed relation in order to fund his business plan. Little did we know that the cousin that holds the money in the family is no other than Jack.
From here the humor is wick, the jabs more frequent but the attractive is more alive. Everyone around them can tell they are into each other but Jack and Isabella ignore all the signs.
Isabella is a 28 year old woman who had her heart broke when her boyfriend cheated on her a year ago. She now trusts no man. She lives with her 3 friends and one night Abby says they should all go online and get sign each other up for a dating site. Where the friend gets to fill out the profile and pick the dates. So after alot of talking her into it Abby sets Isabella up. She sets her up with a man names Jack Morrison and wow does this date become funny and flirty. Jack is rude but sexy as hell. She finds him attractive with a rough side. After insults and all she goes for a one night stand that just leaves her breathless and craving more. But she walks out after an insult and goes her way. She then agrees to help her friend Lucas with convincing his family that hes happy and in love with Isabella only his cousin might throw a curve in this as he is none other than Jack. Great quick read that will have you laughing and swooning. I am leaving my honest and voluntary review for an ARC I received.
This was an interesting take on an enemies to lovers story. Isabella is done with dating so her friend sets up a dating profile for her and finds her a date but the catch is Isabella has no clue who he is or what they talked about insert the worst date ever. Jack is jaded and doesn't believe in love. So as you can guess when they meet with both of them having high walls its instant snark, misunderstandings and animosity but yet an insane attraction. Thinking they will never see each other again they part ways after the worst date but yet kind of the best date ending ever. Little did they know that just a few days later while Isabella is pretending to be her best friends girlfriend that Jack is that best friends cousin. Chaos ensues, words are thrown at each other and heat is all consuming. It was a unique interconnection story with a grumpy hero and feisty heroine. Entertaining and light hearted and overall enjoyable quick read.

Isabella and her best friends/roommates decided to create dating profiles and set of dates for each other without knowing what the profile or conversations leading to the date were. Abby sets up Isabella’s as a test to see if they all get in on the plan. This leads to Isabella having her worst date ever with Jack. To make things more complicated, Isabella’s other best friend ,Lucas (who is gay but not out to his family) convinces her to play his almost fiancé to get part of his inheritance to open a coffee shop/art studio with her. Thing get complicated from there. The banter between Jack and Isabella will have you laughing and cringing. Watching Jack and Isabella work through their complications to their hea is a roller coaster of feelings, attraction and confusion. The bonus epilogue sets up the next book with Abby. I can’t wait to read it!

Isabella and her friends have the worst date history they know of – one of her friends suggests a dating app, only they don’t have anything to do with it, they handle each other’s. Isabella’s friend gets her a date with Jack, and it slowly but surely goes downhill but does end up with her heading to his home having an amazing night but leaving. When her BFF ask to act as his fake date so he can get some of his inheritance, of course she agrees she never expected Jack to be there, or that her BFF was in fact a millionaire. Jack has been burned badly in the past but thought why not do a dating app, the actual date was the worst he’s had, after not so bad, when he sees Isabella at his grandmothers, he can’t believe it and wonders if what he thought was true. They fight, they bicker but they can’t deny the chemistry, when Isabella’s BFF realises the lie is too much for her, he decides to come clean, how will Jack react now that Isabella isn’t ‘attached’ as his family thought.
This is a funny banter, bad date, fake relationship, emotional love story that will have you hooked right from the start. Isabella is looking for love but hasn't dated in over a year. Her friend sets up a profile and talks to her date without giving Isabella any information but his name. Let the fun begin. The first date with Jack was terrible and it cost her money and a chunk of her pride. She was never seeing him again. Right? Then the fake relationship with her friend Lucas. Oh man it just doesn't get any better. Jack is there and the word play and abuse just keeps going. But the feelings grow stronger. Maybe Jack is just misunderstood, or maybe not? I strongly suggest reading this book. It looks like a great start to another fun romantic comedy romance series by J.S. Cooper. I volunteered to read an Advanced Readers Copy of this book for my true and honest opinion.
This was the first time reading a book by J.S. Cooper and it was definitely a book worth reading, The author’s talent shows in the storyline and the two main character’s banter between Jack and Isabella. I could not stop reading once I started. Sure there were a few mistakes in the editing but it did not ruin the story. The book has it’s sweet, funny, obnoxious and definitely sexy parts, even some sad parts. The sexual tension between Jack and Isabella was definitely hot. There were times that I could not understand Jack, but you could tell that something was going on as he would be hot and back off, Loved the ending because Jack definitely deserved a happy ever after. Definitely recommend reading this book, I cannot wait to read the next.
