Is He Worst, Or The One I’ve Been Waiting For?My talent—besides spotting valuable antiques—is picking the wrong guys to date.Honestly, I’m a natural at it (hold your applause.)Which means my list of dating disasters is long. So, when I meet Joe at an antique auction because he outbids me, I file him and his smug smile under Do Not Date, because Pro It’s never a good idea to date a guy who drives you crazy. However, when the opportunity to win some much-needed cash comes knocking, I can’t turn it down, even when it means teaming up with Mr. Auction-Ruiner himself, Joe, on a furniture-flipping reality show.It doesn’t surprise me when Joe pushes my buttons, but when he starts pushing his way into my heart that gets me flipping out!And as I get to know Joe, I can’t help wondering if instead of being just another Mr. Wrong, he might actually be Mr. Right.Hilarious and filled with heart, Flipping In Love is a binge-worthy sweet clean romantic comedy packed with witty banter and sizzling kisses.
This rom-com was full of laugh-out-loud moments. I read one of the scenes to my husband and it got him laughing. The story delivers on humor but also on deeper themes like kindness and patience. Millicent, the female MC, is imperfect but learns how to be a better person by listening to good advice from others. Joe, the male MC, is a cinnamon roll character. He deserves a proper apology from Millicent, but it doesn't get mentioned. One of the best characters was the bookworm. I'm so glad the author included him in the Epilogue. McKendrick made him so authentic that I just had to find out what happened to him.
Let's admit it, it's a guilty pleasure. We all watch those house-flipping shows on TV. In this book we are watching on an online platform as contestants have one day to do major furniture makeovers. It was an interesting twist to pair strangers together on teams for the show. All the teams superficially look far more capable and compatible than Millicent and Joe. They are busy sniping at each other from the very beginning of auditions, which is what catches the producer's attention and gets them a bye onto the show..
I love how Millicent and Joe learn to work together to beat the producer's system, even as, one by one, the other teams begin to fall apart over superficial issues. The challenges set for the teams would be very realistic in this type of show, and would make great viewing. I love how, as viewership increases, the producer makes over the warehouse-studio space each episode.
There is a lovely secondary plot about Millicent and the homeless book-reader on the bench in front of her store. It offers a wonderful opportunity for Millicent to reflect on her life, her choices, her personal relationships, and about not judging others based on assumptions about their appearance.
I purchased a copy of this story from Amazon and voluntarily chose to share my review.
Was looking for a PG-rated romantic book and after a couple of tries, I saw this. I liked the premise and the main character’s (mc) decision to remain what she was until marriage. The overall feel was wholesome and cutesy.
Without spoiling anything, I decided I was disappointed at around 90% of the book. Tried to give it a chance that there would be a redeeming moment after about 70 or 80% but it really felt very self-centered for the mc.
The plot is simple enough and it’s not boring so it’s okay. I’m currently in the middle of 8 books and this one dragged my attention enough to finish it before the other ones I started first.
Would I have skipped it had I known about the disappointment? I don’t know. Like man, I was really disappointed with the mc as a human being.
I really enjoyed this book. It had so many funny areas. I was constantly laughing. I loved that it wasn’t just funny though, it tugged at my heart too. This book touched on so many feelings, happiness and laughter over their attraction to each other and how they worked together, sadness over Ahab, anger from the mean girl. The list goes on and on. I loved that this is a clean, wholesome book that I can let my teenager read. And I just love Joe! I love how he goes out of his way to make Millicent laugh. He wants to make her happy. I also loved that he appreciated her virginity and respected it.
I loved this book. I needed something light and funny in between a couple heavy reads.. and this book did not disappoint. I even bought my son's God Mother a physical copy!
Millicent (who of us can't love that name) has had nothing but bad luck with guys. The only thing she feels she has a talent for is finding great antiques. Unfortunately, her dream antique shop is failing. She needs help and fast...
Joe has a successful construction business and is great with his hands. He can create and turn anything into something amazing. He has had his heart broken and is just living life as a good guy.
When they both Join a DIY competition.. They seem to do nothing but fight..
Flipping in Love by Lisa McKendrick is the perfect no-spice, feel-good rom-com! The romantic tension between Millicent and her auction-house enemy, Joe, is absolutely delightful, keeping the sparks flying without needing any spice. Their witty banter, undeniable chemistry, and the fun house-flipping premise make this story both engaging and heartwarming. With plenty of humor and just the right amount of emotional depth, this book is a must-read for anyone who loves a sweet, swoon-worthy romance that will leave you smiling!
Loved the characters, the humor, the relationships. I especially loved that she was a 27 yr old virgin. And what I loved more than that is Joe respected that, helping her to stick with her plan. Wish more people were like that. So fun, feel good reading. My only complaint- misspelling whoa. Why do proofreaders let that slide? Clean with some drinking and innuendo.
What a fun snappy story. A reality show where unmatching is the goal and Flip Out means more than furniture. Joe and millicent’s interactions are off the chart funny and the other contestants are a great foil for bad relationships. It’s clean but there are innuendos throughout. A big deal is made of her status as a virgin and she is taunted throughout by the “mean girl”, who’s so jealous that steam is often coming out her ears.
Millicent has a failing antique shop and needs some publicity. She decides to audition for a furniture flipping reality show and to her surprise she wins a spot on the cast. She is paired with someone she finds very annoying until she spends more time working with him. An interesting side plot was about an apparently homeless bookworm who sent his days reading on a bench in front of her store. Their friendship created a lot of character growth.
Enemies to Lovers meets "Flea Market Flip" in this sweet. funny, clean romance. You will cheer as Joe and Millificent find their way to love in the midst of a reality internet series. I can't wait to download the next in the series on Kindle Unlimited. Great for a beach read or a weekend binge (I'm looking at you teachers!)
Great story line, Each Character was believable and relatable. Although virginity was scoffed at by all the main characters I enjoyed how waiting for sex after marriage turned out to be the HEA that it should be,
Some funny situations and some strange sub-characters. Overall story is good, but it does follow the formulae. Finally, only a moderate amount of over-thinking.
I needed something fun in between too many serious reads. When I stumbled onto Flipping in Love, I knew I was in the right place. Fun and funny without being too sappy. Looking forward to the next book by Lisa.
I was liking it a lot but Millicent had too many issues, honest to God. She irritated me so much, Joe deserved some effort from her part. She was selfish and just a plain idiot
How refreshing to enjoy the plot, characters and dialogue! With our world full of strife, this was a welcome and well-written time away. Thank you so much!
I give this one a 4 stars! It was such a good book especially considering it was a free kindle book! Loved it and I love the characters (except bob, Fiona, Brad, Stanley, etc) and the plot was really good!
