Dragon shifters, fake identities, and betrayal; secrets that will turn two strangers into bitter enemies or forge a passionate, burning love with the strength to last an eternity…

Sent halfway across the world in her identical twin sister’s place to sign a contract with a reclusive billionaire, Katy Toure has no idea what she’s walking into. Before she signs anything, however, she meets the most amazing, drop-dead gorgeous man of her dreams. Even if all she can have with him is one night, she can’t resist the hunger in his eyes or the way he makes her body sing.

Ryker Draquonir, king of the dragon shifters, takes one look at the woman sent to sign a contract with him, a contemporary marriage of convenience, and knows she is an impostor. Fate has stepped in after centuries on his own to give him his heart’s desire; for the woman standing before him is his true mate.

Ancient Draquonir law forbids Ryker from revealing the existence of dragons and other magical creatures to her before he has claimed her, so if he wants a chance at happily ever after, he will have to seduce her to get it; woo her as only a billionaire can. Dragons love to hunt, and he will do anything to capture his true mate’s heart.

”My life is a mess”

The following ratings are out of 5:
Romance: 💙💚💜🖤
Heat/Steam: 🔥🔥🔥
Story/Plot: 📕📗📘📙
World building: 🌎🌍🌏🌎🌍
Character development: 😠🙃😍😘🥰
Narration: 🎙🎙🎙🎙🎙
Narration Type: Solo Narration

The heroine: Katy - She worked for a radio station and wasn’t too fond of her job.
Katy has an identical twin sister Emily, who is always getting in over her head and Katy is always the one stuck getting her out of things. She promised herself she wouldn’t do it again. However, when her sister calls her complaining that she can’t make it to an important meeting that will be worth a bunch of money to her and their family, Katy reluctantly agrees to go in her place.

The Hero: Ryker - he is a billionaire and King of the Draquonir, an ancient race of dragon shifters. He couldn’t find a woman he could bear to touch and if he didn’t find a mate his human form would be lost forever, and he would be chained until the executioner came for him. So, his brother arranged for an outsider to come for a marriage of convenience who would carry his heir, pregnant through artificial insemination, then the executioner would come for him.

The Story: Ryker’s brother Vector will have to fight for their lands and their power after Ryker is executed. He knew that Emily was not his true mate. He met her already and for an instant thought she might be his mate, but his dragon rebelled and he has been chained ever since. So, when she arrives, he is surprised to find out that she is not Emily and is in fact his true mate. Though he can’t tell her what he is until he claims her.

Katy doesn’t really know what she is doing. The only thing her sister told her is that she was supposed to sign a contract. She thinks it is a business contract. In my opinion the charade went on too long. Katy fell for Ryker, but still thought that he thought she was Emily. When in reality he knew from the beginning. Then every time she tried to tell him the truth, he put her off. I wasn’t quite sure why.

This audiobook was told in dual points of view via solo narration and was narrated by Tor Thom. Tor Thom has a super deep voice which is great for paranormal romantic Heroes. I really enjoy his voice and narration

3.5 -4 stars!

I love dragons so naturally I couldn't resist picking this story up. I think it's going to be a fun series that I will definitely be continuing.

King Ryker and his dragon are slowly losing their ties to humanity because they haven't located their fated mate. Soon Ryker's dragon will take over and they will cease to be human and the beast will pillage and wreck. Unsure if their fated mate will be found in time, Ryker and his dragon create an agreement with a woman named Emily. She will bear his heirs so that the Draquonir can live on and he will be executed.

Emily decides to make her twin, Kate, go in her place because she is held up and can't make the arrangement. It is imperative that Kate go because part of the agreement is money that will help their mom. So Kate packs up to go sign the agreement until Emily can make it.

When Ryker sets his eyes on Kate, he knows that not only is she not Emily but she is also his fated mate. But being a dragon shifter comes with complications and he can't out right tell her the truth. So Ryker sets out to woo her so that she will realize how good they can be together and that they are meant to be.

However, things are not as easy as they seem and little hiccups keep happening. Will Ryker be able to convince Kate that he is the one for her? Will Kate be able to get past the little white lies and the fact that he is a dragon? What will become of the future of the Draquonir?

This was an exciting fated mates story with action and suspense. I wish there had been a little more steam (lol I know, I'm greedy) and that Ryker's dragon had a name. Overall, it was a fun read.

Twin swap + tortured dragon king + fated mates = Dragon Chains

Dragon Chains is the first book in the new series by Grace Goodwin and Becca Brayden. I am a big fan of Grace Goodwin and have read everything they have written so I was super excited for this new series!

King Ryker has gone centuries without finding his mate and now his dragon is slowly taking over. Since he has never found his mate, for the good of the Draquonir, he has decided to make a business agreement to find a queen.

Kate, the practical twin, gets a phone call from her sister for a favor. They need to do a twin swap, Emily needs Kate to go sign a contract for her as she has been delayed and can’t make it in time, and they need the money to help their family. Kate, being the reliable sister she is, hops on a plane to sign a contract as Emily. What Kate doesn’t know is that her world is about to change.

Dragon Chains was a short, easy read, filled with Dragon’s, fated mates and some steam. Once I opened the book, I was pulled into this new world and I didn’t put it down until the story was over. I enjoyed this book, the characters, and the storyline. I look forward to the next book in the series and I can’t wait to see who finds their mate next! A must read recommendation from me!

A solid 4 Stars
I loved reading the story of Katy and Ryker. It gives you a little of everything to keep in reeled in. The icing on the cake the cliches are almost nonexistent.
Katy's family and life are stretched thin. The family house has just burned down, the homeowner's insurance lapsed and her mother was caught in the fire getting injured to the point that she needs to be admitted to a specialized rehabilitation center. To help cover the bills Katy has picked up a second job and Emily, Katy's sister is accepting whatever contracts she can. But now Emily's stuck in Alaska and calls Katy for help to meet a deadline and this is something ONLY Katy and help her with!
"if I don’t show up for the contract job by tomorrow, I’m going to lose it. I already spent the good faith advance they gave me to pay for the first month of Mom’s rehab. I just need you to go to Italy, sign the contract for me, and pretend to be me for a few days to make everyone happy. "

“Let me guess, you have to pay back the advance if you cancel.” Katy sighed.

Ryker of the Draquonir was ancient. The oldest of all living dragons, he has chosen to chain and lock himself away. Becasue...."His only thoughts? Primitive. The human within buried deep inside the dragon’s agony. Its need. For her. His mate. A female he had been unable to find despite centuries of searching. Without a mate he would lose himself forever in the dragon’s torment. Become a monster in truth. A savage killer without remorse or mercy. He would become the horror human myths and legends had named his kind.

“The dragon cannot be bargained with. We all know this truth.”He took a deep breath. “Are you sure she’s not your mate?” Ryker grit his teeth. Emily Toure. Long, curly black hair. Sultry brown eyes. There had been a brief moment when he’d thought she was his mate. Even his keen dragon senses had been fooled. One whiff of paradise and then…nothing. His dragon, already unstable, went crazy, spinning wildly out of control with pain and heartache after their initial meeting. He’d finally lost control; the momentary joy, taken from him just as quickly, was catapulting him into an early grave.

Katy's off to sign the contract as Emily.. "All she had to do was remember the rules for successful twin swapping. If someone makes a comment or asks a question Emily would understand but Katy did not, she would throw out a fact or two about herself instead. Always speak the truth so she wouldn’t have to remember any lies that might trip her up later. Last resort? Distraction."

"Trying to be her sister all the time was exhausting. Emily owed her. Big-time."

Emily Toure had been carefully selected. He and Vector had interviewed hundreds of candidates, but Emily was the only one his dragon had grudgingly agreed to consider. And without his dragon’s initial help, a human woman would be unable to carry a Draquonir child in her womb. Now, he and Emily would marry to make sure she was accepted as his queen, and his children would have a mother. All he had to do was remain in control of his dragon until then, escort Emily to a few official functions. Once she was established as queen, the executioner would provide his unique service and it would all be over. No more Ryker.

This story showed us several other interesting characters and I can't wait to see who the next book is about.

Overall, I had a lot of hope for this series. I would definitely try the next book because I think the structure/world is interesting. Unfortunately, I just didn't connect with this couple. I think this is the third doppleganger/twin swap book I have read in the last few months. And the second one involving dragons fated mates. It can be kind of interesting and fun. I really disliked Katy and I didn't care enough about Ryker to save the story for me. I think the only character I truly liked was Dragon because he was honest at least and didn't constantly blame others for his issues (he was also surprisingly funny).

There were also some strange inconsistencies that stuck in my head.

Loved it.
Spoiler alert: identical twins Emily the wild and irresponsible one Katy the conservative and responsible one. Katy is tired of having to step in and get her sister out of trouble but this time she has ended up in over her head. Ryker has waited centuries for his mate and is out of time his dragon is at the point of no longer being able to be controlled. He has decided to hire a someone to have his heirs and face the his death. Having already meet the woman who has agreed to have his heirs he knows she is not his mate but when she shows up to sign the contract his dragon screams mate the second she even gets near his house. She is pretending to be her sister and he knows she is not. He has to woo her without revealing that he knows she is Katy not Emily while also not telling her that he is a dragon. Once she has admitted that she is in love with him and he admits he knows that she is Katy things should go smoothly, but everything has to go sideways again.

Katy's sister has bitten off more than she can chew, again. She has called her sister to help her out, again. It is apparently and emergency, again. Katy is not going to do it, again. Three hours later she is on a plane winging her way to sort out a contact her sister should be sorting. She has no idea of the content of the contract and all she knows is that if she doesn't sign it then she and her sister will lose all the money that they need to pay for her mother's hospital treatment. Katy needs desperately to speak to her sister but all she gets is radio silence. All good til she meets Ryker. Ryker is not long for this world if he cannot meet his mate. As an alternative he, well his brother in this case as Ryker is battling his inner dragon, has sorted out an arrangement. Then he gets the smallest trace of a promise on the breeze, that his mate might be close. There is no other option that to follow. Clock is ticking for him though. Will he make it in time?

I really enjoyed this story. Ryker and Katy had a steamy romance that was filled with secrets from both sides. Although, Katy didn't know Ryker was a dragon, she fell in love with him and felt guilty because she was under the impression that he was thinking that she was her twin sister. Ryker know she was Katy, but wanted her to reveal her secret on her own time. He was keeping his secret from her as well. This story was exciting and had me wondering what would happen, especially when Katy got taken. I hope there are more stories about the other characters in this book because I really liked Erik, even though he was the villain in this story. The book had me hooked from the first chapter and I enjoyed the read immensely. Can't wait to see more stories like this one.

Grace Goodwin is my all time favorite author, so I always know I will enjoy anything she has a part in writing. This collaboration with Becca Brayden is a great example of her excellent writing.
Sexy dragon shifters, very hot scenes, great world building, drama and romance comes together in a well written book. The twins switching places is a genre that I enjoy reading, but hasn’t over saturated the market - which is a great thing! And with a hint about possible future books (there is a twin sister who needs to find her own HEA), I am excited to see more stories by this dynamic duo!
You just can’t go wrong with anything written by Grace Goodwin and I am definitely going to check out Becca Brayden’s books.

Really good read! The other night I finished the previous book I was reading a little before I wanted to go to bed and thought, well I can just read the first chapter or two of this one. Yeah sooo, I ended up reading about 10 chapters and stayed up wayyyy too late lol. It just sucked me right in! It’s a really sweet steamy read (maybe a bit less than Grace's other books), with a little angst but it’s put in the right places. Loved the characters! Kind of thought Emily and Erik might be mates since his dragon was accepting of Kate like Rykers was of Emily, but idk. Just throwing that out there in case the authors needed sequel ideas lol

Wow! What a great book! I usually love Grace Goodwin books, and this one is no exception. The pace is fast and engaging. The story draws you in immediately and after just a couple of pages you are totally immersed.

Katy is a very relatable heroine. I love her desire to try and do what is right, no matter what. The rest of the characters round out the story. In fact, I can't wait to read additional stories with some of the remaining stories!

Totally recommend!

This sci-fi story was really good! You have a twin-swap premise with Katy ending up being the actual mate for the dragon. My only wish for this book was an epilogue that looked into their future together few years later. That would have wrapped up the story nicely. Hope there will be a second book about her twin!

Great read for the Dragon lovers! The author does a terrific job developing the story and takes you on a journey filled with drama, danger, anxiety and pain as well as bringing the heat and romance. Her characters are strong and the story moves fluidly with her detailed and descriptive scenes. She brings all the feels and delivers a fantastic story. Loved and recommend this book.

Cliche`d writing. Nothing very original. A dragon shifter hadn't found his mate after hundreds of years. He was no longer able to keep his dragon in check, was a danger to others and needed to be put down. He'd hired the h's twin sister to be a surrogate for two of his children, through artificial insemination to carry on his royal bloodline. Her twin got held up and begged her to go to Italy and sign the contract in her place. They needed the money for treatment for their mom. Of course she was his true mate, HEA. The epilogue didn't even have a tease for the next book in the series. I guess the authors forgot to follow the formula at the end.

2.5⭐️⭐️ & 2 🌶️🌶️. I listened to the audiobook version of this. I wasn’t a fan of the male narrator. It is dual POV but was mostly from Ryker’s POV. The story was okay but it was insta-love/fated mates. Like these two literally immediately jump into bed together and get engaged within 10 chapters which isn’t my style. It also had the over done twin swap style storyline so I wasn’t a massive fan of it.

This man was just too perfect, why didn’t she smell a rat as soon as he started with all him swoon worthy phrases and designer pretty woman style fashion trips. I didn’t like how blasé she was to the whole thing. She was too complacent in this instance-love bulls#!+.

Because it was so short, the world building just wasn’t there so I was left a little confused. It was kind of a half hearted attempt at making a mafia romance into a shifter/fantasy book. Like why was he destined to be executed exactly? Like give the man the chance to chase his tail do you get what I mean?

Also, not being able to tell someone you “love” the literal biggest most groundbreaking life changing secret about yourself until they are already invested and committed? Pretty messy, anyway. I digress.

The ending of the book was a little better than the start, but I wasn’t a huge fan of it overall.

Dragons chains is not what I thought it would be

This story was a slow story for me I liked the heroine Katy, but I didn't really like how short the book was and for the price you had to buy it for.
Dragons are always a neat storyline but maybe if they story was longer then a 158 pages .
Sorry but won't be buying this series if it turns into one .
I think this one is a miss in my books .
Love Grace books but this one I'm not a fan.

Harlequin romance with dragons. There is nothing more to it.

Main characters seem dum. Plot is ridiculous. Once again lying about things makes the conflict and agony of the main characters happen... Just open your mouths and spit it out so we can get on with it!

Also: Erik from Norway in turtlenecked sweater? Sometimes I just hope for some originality and research was made before writing the books...

Huge disappointment.

I put off buying this as it was more than I wanted to pay. But broke down, hey it's Grace Goodwin.
Not only is it not up to snuff (poor character development, airhead heroine with a sad moral compass, lack of other characters development, etc). Not a bad idea, I was curious for the sister and Eric but not enough to get cheated again. The worst is that I think I read this before.
Not worth the price.

Written in third person, Dragon Chains is about a dragon shifter (called Draquonirs) king named Ryker and his human mate named Katy. Ryker signed a mating contract with Katy’s twin sister Emily, that would artificially inseminate his sperm into Emily and produce heirs of his royal bloodline in exchange for a shit-ton of money. Which they needed to pay for their mother’s rehabilitation after their house fire. Emily coerced her twin sister Katy to take her place in Italy and sign the contract. The only problem? Turns out Katy was the dragon’s one true mate. A lot of lies back and forth between the two until the truth finally came out. Lots of magic and dragon fire, along with a kidnapping from an enemy clan’s king. Eventually, things worked out and the two lived happily ever after, for an eternity.

A couple things irritated the shit out of me during this book. First, was Katy’s hypocrisy. She was furious with Ryker for lying to her when she had been completely honest from the beginning. Oh wait, no, that’s right, she had been lying to him from the beginning as well. So, was she the pot or the kettle? She had zero right to be angry or question his honor. None. But leave it to the entitled drama queen to fault him for the same thing she was guilty of. Secondly, she was a naive, dumb, stupid little girl. Who the f*ck signs a contract without READING IT first? Apparently Katy does, because she had zero clue what she swore her sister to. Maybe a quick read about what she was agreeing to might’ve helped move things along? Jesus, Mary and Joseph. She wasn’t worthy of a king. Just my humble opinion. Now I’m questioning the intelligence of his dragon for selecting her.

Anyway, the book must’ve flopped hard because the sequel “Dragon Enchanted” was scheduled for release in March 2022, and here we are in November with no new book. Probably just as well. The “magic” factor had me rolling my eyes on many occasions. It’s lazy writing when you use magic to put on and remove clothing. The book was “meh” at best.

Katy and her twin sister Emily are under a lot of pressure. Recently the family house burnt down and their mother was badly hurt. Their mother had let the insurance lapse on the house so now they have the expense of the mortgage and their mother's medical bills. Katy has taken two jobs to make ends meet. Then she gets a call from her sister who is stuck in a nursing job in Alaska. Emily had signed up for this great opportunity for a job and they want her to go to Italy to sign the contract in person but Emily is stuck in Alaska until the local plane gets fixed to fly her out. She begs Katy to take her place and pretend to be her. Katy agrees only when she hears that Emily had been given an advance on the job that was already spent on their mom's treatment. Katy heads into the signing without knowing any of the details and is afraid of being caught out. Then she meets Ryker and she becomes really torn. She is so attracted to Ryker that she would love to keep him as her own but she can't betray her sister.

Ryker is an ancient dragon. His dragon is slowly driving him crazy because they haven't found their fated mate yet. In an attempt to continue his race, he makes a business deal. He has hired Emily to have two children through IVF to carry on his line. He knows that she isn't his mate so he has put on chains to control his dragon. When the agreement is complete the excutioner will kill Ryker before he destroys their world. It is time for Emily to come to Italy and sign the agreement to start his arragement. To his shock, the woman who enters his mansion is his fated mate. He quickly figures out thate she is Katy and not Emily but he is very happy. Maybe this is his chance to survive since he has found his mate. However with his dragon out of control, he has to woo her like a human male and he has no idea where to start.

Deception is the Theme Here . . .

Katy and Emily Toure are identical twins, alike in looks but totally different personalities. Emily travels the world in her job, gets Katy stuck in work projects and then disappears… for work, of course, leaving Katy to finish up the mess she has created. Their mother let so many bills go unpaid that, when their house burned down and they lost everything, they had no insurance either. Her mother had gone back into the burning house to rescue their cat and she has injuries which will need further treatment they cannot afford.

So now Emily says she has the money, but needs Katy’s help. She can’t get away to sign the paperwork and needs Katy to pretend to be her. Emily has already spent the advance, so there is no getting out of this. Ryker Draquonir is an ancient dragon king, losing control of his dragon because he could not find his true mate. So Emily is to be inseminated and have his heirs, and he will be executed when he loses all control without his mate.

With his superior shifter senses, Ryker knows Katy is not “Emily” – but she is his true mate! He can’t tell her about dragons at this point in their relationship. He will have to woo her and convince her they should be together, all while keeping it secret that he is a dragon. (Does anyone ever tell the truth to Katy in this book?) There will be lots of emotions raised in their story. Will Katy fall in love and accept her mate (even though it’s a done-deal by then)? Is it too late to change her mind?

It’s a good thing Katy is a twin or I would swear she was adopted and not part of her irresponsible family. Emily and their mother are walking disasters, and dumping it all on Katy’s shoulders without a second thought irritated me. Likewise, allowing yourself to be used and walked on also irritates me. Family is so important and should never “use” another family member. Anyway, off the soapbox. That part makes me cringe.
