Even though "New Identity" set the bar high for any and every sequel to come, "Powered Identity" lived up to its predecessor! In this second installment of the Identity series, Markham's team is running out of time. Thanks to his influence, money, and charisma, self-proclaimed upcoming saviour of humanity David Crowley is now in the public eye as one of the most beloved scientific authorities in the world. The only problem with that, of course, is that he's actually planning to get rid of everyone he deems disposable..., and restart humanity. In his way stand Markham's ragtag team of superheroes, who aren't about to let him get away with everything he intends to do. But when one of the team's stunts to slow Crowley down goes awfully wrong, and Nova gets hurt in a way that will bring all her plans to stop Crowley crumbling down, they'll find themselves having to figure out what to possibly do next; and even if this mission to save humanity is going anywhere at all.

Tenaya MKD's sophomore novel is as thrilling, fast-paced, and addictive, as her debut. In this second book in the series, we watch the characters grow as they're pit against the worst odds any of them could've ever envisioned for their quest to stop Crowley. One of the journeys I enjoyed the most was Zane's, as he struggled to deal with family secrets that threatened to push him over the edge; as well as the flashbacks to Crowley's own childhood. Although they were far from enough to justify the kind of person he's become, they were still really interesting, and allowed us to see the character under a slightly different light. In future installments, I hope we keep catching glimpses of how this evil genious came to be!

Something I also really enjoyed was the relationship between Cayde and Nova, which was explored in a little more depth. Although the two of them love each other, Tenaya MKD made sure to point out how love isn't all you need for a relationship to work, and how other things come into play. I really loved watching Nova try to break through her own flaws, as well as witnessing the two of them as they made the effort to keep their thing going. The end of the book has me heartbroken, though! I just need to know how this will end for them! Cayde makes me so soft, I can't not worry about him.

Overall, "Powered Identity" was exactly what other reviewers have marketed it as; a ragtag superheroes adventure reminiscent of X-Men, full of thrill and plottwists that will keep you at the edge of your seat. I can't wait for the next book in the series!

I really loved this sequel! It's so incredibly interesting, it holds many connections to the first book while definitely exploring new territory and moving forward in a beautiful way! Some relationships are established now and grow in depth. Nova is still Nova but she is growing in a very realistic way! It's not as funny as the last one but it still holds many very awesome lines that are really refreshing and fun! The ending was truly captivating and left so much potential for the sequel! I literally can't wait for the next one! There are so many questions and Tenaya's so sneaky about giving new clues while withholding the full truth. 😂 It's so hard to write a second book and she's done such a wonderful job!

‘Powered Identity’ follows on from the events in the last book, with Nova and the gang trying to thwart Crowley’s diabolical plan to “save” humanity.

Just like the last book, this instalment is full of action, with the stakes getting higher with every chapter. Relationships are explored in more detail, with Cayde’s and Nova’s pulling at all the heartstrings. New revelations make you question exactly who to trust, and the underlying theme of morality—especially in the face of “the bigger picture”—was one of my favourite aspects, especially when it creates conflict between our heroes. This reaches a crescendo at the end of the novel which leaves me ready and eagerly awaiting the next novel!

Like ‘New Identity’ before it, I really enjoyed the switch in POV between Nova’s first-person narrative, and the wider events in the world. While Nova’s chapters occasionally felt a little too short and sporadic towards the end, being able to see the wider events of the world added even more tension to the exciting events.

I highly recommend the series if you’re looking for an action-packed, superhero read with real X-Men vibes!

With New Identity, MKD delivered an action packed, heart racing story, and if you loved that then you are in for a treat with this fantastic sequel. Diving into the action right from the start, Powered Identity picks up where New Identity left off, following Nova in her search for understanding and her determination to take down Crowley. I loved so many aspects of this book, the twists and turns, the characters, and of course, the powers.

There’s a lovely romantic subplot that I couldn’t help but fall in love with. Nova and Cayde forever! All their cute little moments are so sweet, but then they also disagree and push each other and support each other like real couples. I also like the friendships, especially Eric and Nova’s. And I adore an underestimated kickass heroine like Lily!! Lastly, but certainly not least, it was cool to learn more about Crowley and how he became the villain he is, drawing on his past.

Just be aware that once you start this book you might not be able to put it down, especially towards the end. So stock up on coffee and treats and get reading!

Author Tenaya MKD has done it again! I enjoyed book one of the Identity saga, but I really enjoyed book two. In this installment, we get to know Nova and the gang so much better, receiving deeper backstory for many of the supporting characters, especially Zane, Eric, and David Crowley.

In fact, I feel this book does a great job exploring Crowley’s childhood, his relationship with his father, and the reasoning behind why he is the bad guy he now is. Although his plans in this book are dark, you can almost sympathize with him. For me, that’s the mark of a well-written villain.

I must say, I’m not usually a fan of superhero stories, but this saga has provided me with a very enjoyable introduction! While I’m not really one who can be impressed by fight scenes (not to say that they weren’t great, they’re just not my thing), what I was touched by throughout this book were the human aspects. Between the strained family relations, growing romantic feelings, and deep friendships, there’s a lot to unpack in book two.

If you enjoyed New Identity, Powered Identity will impress you even more.

This sequel did not disappoint! Make sure you read “New Identity” first, or else you’ll be lost, but you’ll be needing more after you reach the end of this one! The fights were epic. The stakes were high. And I’m not going to lie; I laughed and cried! Nova is back with more attitude than ever, and I’m so excited to read more!

Nova and her friends have escaped the clutches of David Crowley, and now it's time to take him on. But she and those who suffered at his hands have come away from their encounters bearing scars, and as secrets are revealed and the stakes grow ever higher, Markham's team begin to fracture as they question who they can trust, and where to draw the line between justice and vengeance.

Action-packed and perfect for fans of the X-Men, Powered Identity is an exciting sequel to New Identity. I loved the fight scenes, especially when Zane confronts Thaeo, and I thought the contrast shown between how Nova and Zane handle the trauma they carry after their encounters with Crowley was cleverly done. It was fascinating to see the world open up even more in this novel, and to learn more about the villain. I am very much looking forward to the next book in the series!

I was lucky enough to read New Identity last year when it came out, and I knew I’d be signing up for an ARC when Powered Identity was getting ready to release. The second book in the series, Powered Identity has the same fun premise and characters as the first book, but the stakes are higher.

The story picks up just where the first book left off, and we’re thrust back into a found family that I’ve enjoyed spending time with over these books. Cayde was a character I loved in the first book, and I enjoyed his character in this one as well. I liked Nova more in this book than I did in the last one, and the rest of the cast of characters help to fill out the story and have interesting plots of their own. The story pacing for me was a little inconsistent.

The real star of this one was one plot twist in the middle and the ending, which made me wish I could get my hands on the next book in the series without waiting. I’m eager to see how the ending of this book transfers into the next book and where these characters go.

Perfect for fans of superhero stories, sci-fi, and action.

Many thanks to the author for the digital copy in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own.

Powered Identity by Tenaya MKD is the second book in the Identity Saga. It captivated me so much that I finished it in two days just like her previous book, New Identity.

I don't want to give away too much for those who might be interested in reading the series, but I will say that if you're looking for a story with a kickass female as the main character and a unique take on the character finding out they have powers/ a special ability trope, then this series is for you!

If you have read the previous book, we find out more information about some of the supporting characters in this book. Get ready for a few surprises. :)

A satisfying installment in Nova's journey!

I think what I loved most about this one was watching Nova grow and work through some of her flaws for the people she loves. The found family vibe is even stronger in this book, and it is action packed from cover to cover to keep those pages turning. We got to learn a lot more about the side characters, and I especially loved all of the flashbacks for the villain's origin story. As other reviews have mentioned, you definitely get strong X-Men vibes from this series in the best way. Ended on a heck of a cliff hanger, and I can't wait for the third book!

In the second book of the Identity Saga, Tenaya MKD brings us Nova and her new superpower friends trying to stop Crowley’s latest schemes for death and destruction. The action has stepped up from last time, and goes at a nice pace with a mix of action and reaction. This has helped me connect to Nova’s friends a bit more than before, and explore their relationship with each other as a family with ups and downs. I loved all the little reveals and twists throughout that kept raising the stakes. My favorite parts has to be diving into the antagonist, Crowley, and seeing how he became the evil mastermind he is in the book. I also liked a certain reveal when Nova encounters a certain someone from the first book. That ending had me on the edge of my seat and awaiting the next book of the series! If you’re a fan of X-Men and want something slightly darker, pick this series up.

You really thought the ride was slowing? Like any good thrill ride, you've only reached the crest. Tenaya proves she has things well in hand, taking the reader on the continuation of the story of the small, but intrepid team of Nova, Cayde and company, fighting to save humanity from the man who would be humanity's "savior." Non-stop out of the gate, with an ending to leave you...breathless..

Powered Identity is a story of a woman who decided to let go of an unknown past and live with her new superhero powered family. But, she's not able to forget the pain associated with the new life that was thrusted on her. Nova struggles with moving forward and it's a captivating story of right vs wrong. But if you haven't read the first book, New Identity, I would highly recommend to before picking this one up.

The action was well paced and I enjoyed the dynamics between the characters. The relationship between Nova and Cayde is sweet and realistic. Many times I found myself wanting to give Cayde a hug and tell him that everything would be okay ... but then the ending left me even debating that! The Author did a great job and I look forward to the next book in the series!

If you enjoy superheroes, action and suspenseful reads then this is for you!

The second installment of the Identity Saga, by Tenaya MKD, is a solid sequel to the first book, New Identity.

Overall, the story delivers all of the necessary pieces to help complete the puzzle that is Nova's life, however I must admit that New Identity kept me turning the pages a bit more enthusiastically than Powered Identity did. That being said, I definitely have a part that is a clear favourite, which I truly hope MKD further develops in the third book (I'll say this... it involves "Jim").

MKD also did a FANTASTIC job ending Powered Identity with a crazy cliffhanger that had me longing for more.

Thanks for doing what you do, Tenaya!

A great follow up to the first book! Nova is a great protagonist and it was interesting to get more characters' perspectives. Action, humor, real-world morality issues, romance, and (of course) powers. I can't wait for book 3!!

Definitely a great way to up the stakes, and what a finish… I’m eagerly awaiting the third book and hoping when it arrives that life will allow me the time to read it far more quickly than I did this one.

Great book.
