Spencer desperately wants to love a little, but it’s not in the cards for him.
Spencer Howell knows what it’s like to get burned, and once was enough for him. Littles are strictly off limits. It doesn’t matter how cute they are, or how much their innocent smiles warm his heart. He knows to keep his distance. And he’s fine with that… most of the time.
Turner is a little looking for his perfect Daddy.
As a little, Turner Keene has only ever played with his best friend in the safety of his own home, and he’s perfectly happy with that even if he sometimes longs for a Daddy. Where does one even go to find a Daddy? It’s not like they grow on trees. When the owners of a local BDSM club want Turner to be their new toy supplier, he’s thrust into a world he never knew existed. Maybe finding a Daddy will be easier than it seems.
After a chance meeting, Spencer finally finds his match.
When Spencer meets Turner, all he sees is a cute, sweet, naturally submissive boy. And so what if he has a few little tendencies, Turner isn’t a little. He’s safe. And when Turner looks at Spencer, all he sees is a handsome, funny guy who likes to bake. There is no way he knows about littles and Daddies, and there is no way he’ll understand. He’s not safe. When Spencer finds out about Turner’s little side, will he overcome his fears and stay? When problems from Spencer's past come back to haunt him, will Turner stand by his side and defend him?
Author’s Note: This book contains scenes depicting consensual non-consent. If you’re looking for some hardcore/dark BDSM romance, this isn’t that book. I live to write cute, sweet, feel-good romance. And just because Spencer and Turner like things a little spicy doesn’t mean they’re not going to get the same treatment. Enjoy!
WARNING: This book is intended for Adult (18+) readers. I try to write all books so that they can be read and understood as stand-alone stories. However, reading them all together will create a more complete and rich experience as past characters can and will make surprise appearances.

Book safety, content warnings, and tropes down below. Likely excessive use of quotes incoming. […] he’s all mine now,” I said, smug as could be. “He bakes. He’s kinky. He likes to cuddle. He spoils me. As my best friend Simon likes to say, ‘Turner, you hit the Daddy jackpot.’” […] Spencer poked his head back into the playroom. “Turner baby, let’s kick it. I got eggs to crack. Cakes to bake.” Niko snickered. “Lucky.” “Jackpot,” I whispered as I walked by.
I absolutely spammed my (good) friend while reading this book. I was fully expecting to like it as I have adored the entire series so far, but it really surprised me with how good it made me feel. It is beyond adorable and I had the biggest smile on my face with every interaction between Spencer and Turner. There was also plenty of interactions between Littles (other characters from the series and some new ones), which is always pure chaos and adorableness.
The dynamic between Spencer and Turner was really refreshing as well. There’s CNC in this, and the book heavily deals with letting go of external judgement and kink shaming, and Spencer feeling like he is somehow ‘wrong’ for enjoying both consensual non-consent and age play. Turner is a huge help in making him realize that there’s nothing wrong with enjoying both. Spencer, being Spencer, burst through the door and made a beeline straight for me. “Sugar Bear,” he said as he spread his arms wide and crossed the room. “Did ya miss me?” “Yes.” Still laughing, I pushed at his face as he tried to nuzzle my neck. “Daddy!” I squealed when he blew a raspberry against my skin. “Stop it.” He sighed as he pulled back. “If I have to.”
Turner is also just a badass. He really felt like Spencer’s equal. Of course they partake in a power exchange relationship, but that doesn’t mean inequality. Although not every book with a power exchange dynamic has made me feel as comfortable as these guys. Far from it.
Spencer has been called ‘uncle Spencer’ in previous books, for good reason. He’s an absolute goofball with a bright smile and is so good at just being silly and supportive. He bakes up a storm, has no problems with being vulnerable, takes care of his little and his friends, but will also lose his keys while holding them and be late for his appointments. ✨ balance ✨ “I want you. If you’re feeling down or insecure, ask me for some reassurance but don’t question that.”
Also, the CNC was really hot. Both of these MCs get a lot of joy from roleplaying, and they were really good (mostly) at communicating with every step of their relationship.
Oops that was a lot of words. Safe to say I had a blast reading it. Joining Serving Mr. Chamberlain as my favorites in the series. How does it feel?” “Is there a word for being terrified and excited at the same time? Because I’m that.” Simon scrunched up his face as he thought about it. “Horny?”

My sexuality was like a Venn diagram composed of twenty different circles, and I stood in the tiny center where they all overlapped, looking for someone standing there with me. That shouldn’t have been that much of a problem, but there were two circles I craved above all others. The first was so bright it glittered, and the second, well, the second really had no business touching the first.
To me, littles were everything sweet and innocent and good about BDSM. They had their own unique charm, and I was far from immune. They were cuddles on the couch and Sunday morning cartoons. They were bath time at eight and bedtime at nine because storytime always ran late. They were big boy touches when they were good and spankings and time in the corner when they’d been naughty (because littles were never bad).
I’d once canceled a date with a guy because I’d stubbed my toe on the corner of my couch and had convinced myself that I’d broken it. That I’d kicked my couch on purpose and not that hard was beside the point.
Spencer let us play for a bit longer until calling our pool time to a halt. “Alright, let me see those hands,” he said, gesturing toward me and Simon. Giggling, we swam up to Spencer and held our hands up for his inspection. “Just as I thought,” he said, switching his gaze from Simon’s hands to mine. “Wrinkly as a prune. The both of you. Come on. It’s time to get out.” Simon and I were honor-bound to whine as we followed Spencer to the ladder.
Ollie was the first to notice my predicament. He had that look about him that said he’d taken a plug or two in punishment. He leaned over and nudged my shoulder. “What did you do?” I groaned. “He baited me into talking back. He had this smug grin on his face,” I explained, my cheeks burning. “And I just had to.”
Oh my heart. I feel like I’ve been waiting to fall in love with Spencer forever. He has been this mysterious character hanging out in all of the Different Hearts books and we FINALLY get a proper introduction. And He. Is. Wonderful.
Spencer has been burned by people pretty hardcore in the past. He hasn’t been ready to be a Daddy for a long time. He doesn’t think he will find someone who will match with him. Then he meets Turner. I loved how organic their meeting was. No club between them, no friends setting them up, just a good old fashioned meet-cute. Turner was adorable in every way. Such a cute little but knew how to put on his adult self when the situation called for it.
Their relationship was nuanced and held its own set of challenges. Spencer is into some pretty deep stuff and Turner was absolutely down for it. Those scenes were written just perfectly to show some serious spiciness, but also allowed for the tenderness of aftercare.
This series gets better with every book written and I love each and every couple that have been featured. Our sneak peek for the next book hints and pet play and I can’t wait!
This was quite adorable! I love it when Izaia Winter writes daddies and littles.
I likes the relationship between Spencer and Turner. I thought Turner was an adorable little. Especially when he was with his best friend Simon. And Spencer was sweet, kind, and fun.
I did have one major issue with this book. And that was that the source of the rumors about Spencer was completely unbelievable.
SPOILER ALERT.
So a woman, who has only heard about Spencer, carries a grudge so big that she would spread rumors about him and about what a terrible Dom he is. She even confronts Turner about it and doesn’t want to take no for an answer. And the people she got it from tried to hurt Spencer because he once told them off about bullying another submissive, over 10 freaking years ago??
I had a really hard time believing in this.
I’m still going with 4 stars, because Turner and Simon were that adorable.
But it is possible to be too young to fully understand. Littles are an attitude for kids of adult age and older. Playing out ideas or creating fairy tales with stuffed animals or diapers is not bad if it helps people enjoy acting like a kid. It just needs a safe place to happen.
3.75 ⭐ This is the book that drew me to this series, and ironically, the book I was most afraid to read. When I saw this recommendation in a post about age play on Instagram, I wasn't convinced because CNC is kind of a trigger for me, but the person in the post convinced me to try the series. Luckily I did, and I'm grateful because I'm really enjoying it.
Now the book surprised me because it wasn't what I expected at all. Spencer's character is there from the beginning and I really liked his cameos so I decided to take a chance and read it. I have to admit that roleplaying and CNC are still some of my least favorite kinks to read, but I didn't hate them in this book. Actually, the flaws I found in the book were more related to the pacing of the story and the couple's dynamics outside of sex. It wasn't a bad read, just not my favorite of the series.
Also, not a big fan of the angsty moment at the end. Didn't see that coming and I thought it was unnecessary.
The charm and deep connection from the previous books in this series was not in this one.
I didn’t really feel like Spencer was a Daddy at all. He’s a Dom who sometimes enjoys little play. I also just didn’t enjoy him as a character in general. :-/
I didn’t really feel like Turner was truly a little at heart. It just felt like something fun to play as. He was not like the other littles in the series.
I did not feel their bond AT ALL.
The conflict at the end felt forced and contrived. It was totally unnecessary.
And no mention of condom in the first penetrative sex scene or test results which is a HUGE pet peeve of mine. If that doesn’t happen, especially in a D/s relationship, it totally takes me out of the story.
My favorite part was the consensual non consent. It was hot… but it could have been better if I actually felt for this couple… and I really didn’t. Which was so disappointing after how much I enjoyed the rest of this series.

I am so delighted to have a new Different Hearts book from Izaia Winter. Once again we are being educated and our horizons broadened, this time with regards to Consensual Non-Consent Roleplay. We’ve known Spencer since book one, but we finally get to know all about him and his past experiences. We met Turner in Teaching Foster’s Cowboy, but get ready to fall head over heels for this courageous Little firebrand! Spencer and Turner make a perfect couple, but we see a different dynamic play out between this pair compared to the previous couples in the series. As the story unfolds (with even a little mystery) we witness a strong and protective little very much supporting and loving his Daddy.
There are fantastic roleplaying scenes, but so many sweet, joyful and funny times too. Lots of bonding and enjoying each other. I’m just going to say ‘Walkie-talkies’! We also get lots of group interaction where we get to catch-up with our previous couples. It actually made me a little teary to see how confident and sassy little Emmie has become. Ollie, Quentin and Elias have also grown wonderfully in their relationships. While reading this book, I realised that I am becoming quite obsessed with Foster...
By the way, you might want to have snacks to hand when reading this book. There is so much talk about food, especially baked goods, that I felt half starved by the end of it!
We get a little snippet of the next book Waiting For Derek which is already sounding fantastic. Hopefully we won’t be Waiting For Derek for too long...
Original review Well this was just perfect. I have loved Spencer since book one and I'm so happy we got his story. Turner is just fucking adorable and seeing the two of them together was perfect. I think this is my favorite of the series so far. There's this balance of like sweet littles and CNC that just worked and I wasn't expecting it to work to be honest. But it was wonderful.
While this book does have CNC as a major component It is still a very sweet and fluffy book. There is a little who loves rocks and museums and has a intense sweet tooth and he also happens to own a sex toy store. And then the Daddy Dom in this one is a lovable goofball who finds comfort in baking and who also happens to enjoy CNC. I literally got up at 3:00 a.m. on my day off to read this one as soon as it was delivered to my Kindle and I have no regrets. This is the first book in the series that I felt was long enough and that I wasn't wishing that it had an extra 100 pages. Not that I would have complained about it being longer, but I didn't feel like we were missing out as I did with some of the other books in the series. As a whole this was awesome and if you're looking for some light easy happy ever after kinky books, this series needs to be on your TBR.
This one was ok. I liked Spencer in the other books. I'm not sure I bought into him being a 'Daddy' though. He just came across more as a Dom who enjoyed littles sometimes. Turner I thought was also a mix of he wasn't sure what he was. He edged toward being a little, but he came across more as a regular ole submissive a lot of the time.
I also didn't really buy into who was spreading the rumors about Spencer. Who the person was didn't even make sense. And honestly, the book didn't need the drama. It was really pointless and didn't add anything to the book. Everyone already loved Spencer.
Loved this! Age Play and role playing, woohoo! But surprisingly the kink was not my favourite part of this book, although it was great, Izaia Winter writes the best Littles. My favourite was Spencer and Turner's banter. I love Spencer's light heartedness and silliness, it's very refreshing for a Daddy Dom.
It was also nice to see these two in more of a low key Little/Daddy relationship. I wouldn't really say that Turner 'regresses' like some other Littles, but there is still definitely that dynamic constantly in their relationship.
This book contains all the sweet and sassy littles with an addiction to cookies and everything sugary, and a Daddy who enables it. Turner and Spencer was perfect for each other, they were so much fun to read about and their scenes were all kinds of sexy.
I loved how Turner had figured out how to be a little without a Daddy and his playdates with Simon was adorable. The two together were perfect.
By this book their group of friends is very large and it can be difficult to keep all the names straight, but I like how we get to see them all again.
Wasn't all sure about the drama that happened, it felt a bit out of left field even when I was expecting it to happen. It also showed how littles aren't defenceless just because they are littles, and I liked that.
Kinda want a book with Niko finding someone special.
This might be my favorite in the series. Spencer has been in the background this whole time, just waiting for the boy that's right for his kinks. Turner has never had the cojones to go looking for a Daddy in a club, despite owning an adult toy boutique. So their meet-cute in the puzzle aisle at a store is adorable. Seeing each other at The Church is even more delicious. Spencer explaining his CNC role-play fantasy to Turner was the most heat I've seen from him up to that point. And it only got better from there, including feels from both men. Yeah, my favorite couple so far.
The littles are so fun and playful! Reading this made me simultaneously want a little of my own, and a daddy of my own, lol. Turner is adorable. Also great to revisit all the other couples in the series, especially little Ollie who I didn't actually remember being this sassy but clearly has grown into his relationship.
I so wanted to love this book. I've loved every other book in this series and have re-read Caring for Little Ollie and Fixing Little Red at least 50 times each...no exaggeration. I was so ready for this book. I loved Spencer and was excited for his story.
Unfortunately, it was just kind of meh.
First, I'm someone who reads quickly and reads to completion. I sometimes read up to 3 books a day and when I love a story, I devour it. This one took me 3 days to finish.
Positives:
I loved checking in on the other characters. We basically get cameos from every one but Samir and the 2 that play Dungeons and Dragons. Loved the littles interaction.
Negatives:
My biggest issue with the book was it felt really disjointed. I don't know that I felt a real connection between Turner and Spencer. I will say I'm glad that their secrets were revealed sooner rather than later. Their play was ok, but I found myself not really being able to immerse myself in the role play scenes.
Maybe my expectations were set too high because of how much I loved the prior books. I will say that I'm looking forward to the next book and I really hope it's for Lee.
I'm so in love with this series... There's so much cuteness and adorableness that my heart's about to explode from happiness.
It's funny that I love it so much, because give-me-a-toothache- sweet stories with zero angst are definitely not my style; still, this author's characters never fail in winning my heart and soul.
This is a Daddy/Little romance done right, if this is your cup of tea, I super recommend the reading and all the previous books (obs: book 2 is Service-Oriented BDSM and book 5 is Impact Play).
Yet another fun book by this author. I fell in love with Spencer back in Little Ollies book and have been curious about him.
This was slightly different as there is a bit of a mystery around The Church about who is gossiping.
What I love most about this authors books are they are very realistic as far as the community. I have seen people’s reputation ruined over lies and I have seen people hurt when they aren’t lies but can’t be proven. This book highlights how everyone in the community talks and bad reps follow you and also how amazing our community is about defending and protecting our own.
Few gramatical errors and a few times I think she forgot who was talking, confused me a bit. But I assume these are not professionally edited so I forgive it.
The CNC is extremely mild considering I’ve watched scenes with far more “consent” not given. Not my cup of tea, very triggering but this is absolutely nothing like that. Here I would call it mild CNC with some cute RP and a pretend Noooo we shouldn’t kind of thing, not enacting forced or anything like that.
Loads of humor, come on it’s Spencer!!! The talk of cake and cookies made me hungry and I personally think she should include a cookie or cake recipe and I think it should be Red Velvet with Cream Cheese Icing, since it has been mentioned in multiple books.
I liked this story. Turner was perfect and Spencer was ok. I dunno why, but I loved the interactions between them before they met at the club.
I loved the best friend the most even if he just disappeared. I felt bad cause Turner just dropped him but Spencer of course kept his friend group 'cause they were in the previous books.
There were some editing issues but not enough to hurt the story.
I was happy to see Spencer get his HEA. I enjoyed that he wasn't like your typical Daddy. He isn't strict, stern, or neat. He's silly playful and has very matching energy to a Little. It was wonderful how he and Turner met and connected before realizing how they both identified in the lifestyle. I can't wait for Simon to get his story. Or Kyle and Kane for that matter!
While still good this book wasn't quite up to the other ones in this series. I quite liked both Turner and Spencer but I didn't really get Little/sub vibes from Turner or Daddy/Dom vibes from Spencer, not like the characters in the previous books. The only big criticism I have is, is there was no talk of going bare before their first time together, which is a big no for me, not the act itself but no agreement beforehand.
Ok that was great seeing Spencer get his HEA. Swoon. It was cool seeing him find his person and work through crap from the past. And T. T was absolutely wonderfully sweet yet spicy. Loved watching them fall in love. The writing was good though there was a few writing mistakes. Like words spelled wrong. The smexy was yummy, and the side characters… OLLIE I love him. I hope we get to see Simon’s story or maybe the new guy???
This felt like a fresh take on the usual Daddy/little story. I would have liked even more CNC scenes between them but it was good how they worked up to it. The cast of characters felt like a lot at times but wasn't too hard to keep track of. I appreciated Turner's confidence and that he was pretty settled in life too, no self-esteem issues here. Spencer didn't feel quite as well-rounded as a character (I couldn't picture him for some reason?) bu I liked that he was a bit goofy even when he took charge. Really solid read!
I really liked that Turner showed that being a Little and being submissive doesn't mean that he is a pushover or doesn't know what he wants. He stands up for himself and Spencer.
I'll say 3.5* because I really like Spencer. He's just so much fun, a mad baker who has sworn off littles despite loving them. He meets Turner at a games store and asks him out for coffee. Turner has sworn off dating straights, but he can't resist. (Turner happens to own an adult store and sells toys to the BSDM club they all belong to.)
However Turner's true nature is quickly revealed (sort of my accident) and Spencer admits he's into CNC (Consensual non-consent) and that's why he steers away from littles, however Turner finds that hot. Meanwhile, you find out back when Spencer first started in the community, rumors at an old club that he refused to accept/respect safewords got around and now they've cropped up again but no one seems to know who is spreading them.
This has nothing to do with the story per se but I am confused with the CNC taboo. It's really just role play. If you are the "cop" who arrests the virgin "shoplifter" and makes them have sex with you to get out of the charges, is that not CNC? You are "forcing" that person to have sex against their will? But of course you are all in agreement and know your roles. How is that different than naughty student and teacher or doctor and patient? If you go to free porn sites there is TONS of that stuff. Now if someone DOES refuse to allow a safeword, that's another story and NOT CNC but I don't get quite why it's such a big "gasp" moment when someone says they are into it. *shrug*
I did enjoy Turner putting the gossip monger in their place and you find out who/why the rumours started. I also found a fair number of typos which I am always happy to let a few slide by, but enough caught my attention.
I also really enjoyed Turner's best friend. He was quite amusing. Of course you
Let's get something clear here. I love these books, I really do. Every single book in this series has been a home run for me...except this one.
Now there's nothing glaringly wrong with this book. Spencer is a lovable goofball and Turner is adorable. They work well together and I did enjoy revisiting other characters.
Sidebar; although each book can be read as a standalone, I advise reading the books in order because there are a lot of characters and relationships and if you don't read the books in order, it can get pretty confusing pretty fast.
Back to the review.
As much as I loved the characters, I didn't love the overall story. There is this thing within Spencer's past that comes up a lot. And is talked about a lot. And has a culmination at the end. I just didn't think it was super necessary nor did it add anything interesting to the story. It was just kind of there and honestly, a little overbearing. Had this been brought up once in the beginning, and then the end happened, I think it would have made it stronger. Or if it hadn't come up until the middle of the book, then there would have been some investment. But as it is it's just too much too much. It didn't 100% take away from my enjoyment of the book overall. But I did find myself annoyed enough that whenever Spencer or anyone started talking about it, I was skimming until it was over.
But other than that I really enjoyed this book. It was super cute and hot, and another great depiction of a healthy kinky relationship. Four stars but still highly recommend.
I think this is my favorite book in the series so far. Though I do love some of the other books a LOT too. This time we got the story of Spencer a men we got to know right from the start of the series. I always liked Spencer and with this book I came to absolutely love him. He is a finance caring guy and I love his kinky side a lot too. Because of his past and certain kinks he likes, he believes he can never have a little for himself.
Then there is Turner the man that helps Spencer realize that what happened in his past isn’t important. Turner is a great Little but also great man in general.
I really love that these two support each other so well and gosh they are so freakin cute and awesome together.
I really liked the story about Spencer’s past and I just loved watching these two building a healthy relationship.
I also adore Simon, the best friend of Turner, and I hope so bad that he will get his own book as well.
At least I have to mention the role play scenes. OMG they are do spicy. I loved reading them.
Overall this was perfect to me and I am so glad I finally read this. I am looking forward to the new book which will be released soon.
