"Yeah but...," I started, then I decided to confront what I thought was probably really bothering her. "Look, about Jonno. I didn't mean for anything to happen. He just kind of..." After a game of truth or dare, Lia manages to gain the interest of the school heartthrob, and alienates "teen queen" Kaylie, who was after Jonno for herself. Kaylie and her friends then start a campaign of bullying against Lia -- the nasty, underhanded kind where rumors are spread, threats are sent, secrets are exposed, and confidence is underminded. Soon Lia begins to question her whole who she is, why these girls have got it in for her, and who her real friends are....
I got this book because I wanted to read something light and something which is not too deep but just fun but turns out Teen Queens and Has-beens by Cathy Hopkins was not just like any other high school drama but a book about accepting oneself, why we get bullied and the craving to belong and once we are free from that hold the story becomes insightful and makes you look within whether you were a bully or a victim. There is fear on both sides. It's when you become indifferent that the bully whether it be at any age stop having any kind control over you. This was a light fun read. It's a second hand book that got published in 2011 that's why like this but it was worth it.
this was just so bad. everything about it was bad. nothing happened in this book. just teenage drama which I have come to hate after reading this book. This was really cliche even Twilight was better:/
Teen Queens and Has-Beens (Truth or Dare) by Cathy Hopkins
pg 178
Heartthrob jonno, attention caught by lia wonder how this works out becasue lia being lia doesnt want trouble when she sees "queen bee" kaylie wants jonno attention try not to be happy he noticed her.but being lia with her firends has been dare to snag a kiss from jonno will end up getting the kiss or losing the dare.win or lose kaylie would not let go that jonno picked lia.her and her friends campaine to be mean to lia as the new girl and the girl who trys to act richer then everyone else. My favorite part was when lia finally started acteing like herself like a bright beautiful rose in sted of a side wall flower ment to stay by the sidelines.all becasue she wanted no trouble not that anything lia changed about herself could she stop the case of bulling wiht out brusies. also the time when the teacher had gotten the class to actualluy say what needed to be said how bullying is only happening wiht fist fights. this is a great book to teach the true meaning of being yourself and its glory and that bully is wrong and can be happening in may ways.what you shouldnt and should do and always to be you and not just give in if that doesnt help.

this book is about a girl name Lia and she moved back to live in her town. she went to boarding school in london, but she was home-sick, so she went back to live with he mom and dad. her dad is a famous rock star and they are very rich. Lia was pretty and smart and Kaylie the popular girl was jealous of her, that wants to make her life miserable. Lia was scared what to say about her. their was this guy name Jonno likes Lia alot, but Kaylie likes him too. so kaylie starts to spread things around the school about Lia. this book i an really relate too because i hate having rumors being spread and i hat e jealousy. i've been to jealousy, but i know it can hurt a lot. rumors are bad and i hate having them spread. whats the point of having to be popular, when it can destroy everyone. i learn something from here and i know others can relate it to themselves.
This rather predictable novel is easy to read and has a positive message about a very common junior high experience—maybe even a common high school experience. Lia, the tall and beautiful daughter of an aging rock star, has transferred to a new school and is trying to adjust to new groups of friends. However, she offends one of the more “popular” girls when her estranged boyfriend goes after Lia (really to meet her father). The “popular” girl and her friends begin a pointed and vindictive campaign to ostracize and persecute Lia, who withdraws. The resolution of this conflict and what Lia learns about people and friendships redeem the book. The book is part of a British series and is a little liberal about some teen views and speech (PG, maybe), but pretty inoffensive and ultimately positive.
The main character, Lia, was waay too kind and naive. How could she not realize that Kaylie is a grade-A biatch? The story itself was cute and it was about typical high school drama. But like, I don't know how to feel about this book?? It was nice and fun but it hit too close to home?? I'm a sophomore right now and I've been having lots of drama with my 'friends'. No biggie but after reading this, I think I might be being bullied...
So sweet, why didn't I read this book when I was a bit younger? The message of this book is that you form your own life like a movie, you decide which role you have in it and others around you. The main character is Lia where she gets bullied by a snob named Kaylie. She became a bully victim and let Kaylie control her while she could easily take control and prevent the happenings.
THis book is about how this popular boy like Lia instead of the popular girl in her school. The popular girl started to spread these nasty rumors about her. Those rumors were really bad. She don't like it at all. Lia dad is a rock star.
This is an amazing book that got my emotions travelling. It so amazing to see the different characters and their perception to life. I loved this book soo much and if you like books that take you away on journey's this is the one.. xxx Georgi<3Harrystyles
