Is Joey willing to pay with her life to uncover the gruesome secrets behind Crestfall Bluffs? Joey is beyond disturbed by what she has just witnessed and she has every right to be, but when she confides in her boyfriend Astor, his reassurance about his family's weird rituals and traditions only fuels her suspicions. Still, Joey will need proof in order to expose the truth of Crestfall Bluffs, but what she finds produces more questions and danger than answers!
Okay, so the ending of ETR #1 was intense and shocking, so this issue needed to address that, and it did, head first! But I feel like everything was given away. We know now, so what happens next? Because there really isn’t action in this issue. It’s just Joey finding out the truth, which is key, but this ending, while not shocking or even really suspenseful, definitely makes me want to read issue #3. That is if I didn’t want to already due to the amazing artwork, the crazy concept, the character development, the tone, and the strong writing…
This is solid but I'm definitely waiting for something big and twisty to happen soon. It's a good concept but pretty straightforward at the moment. Worth reading but I'm sort of wishing I had waited for the collected edition instead of reading by issue.
Eat the Rich is a solid book. I've really enjoyed the first two issues, & I can't wait for the third. Sarah Gailey does an excellent job building up suspense. I wish that this was a graphic novel rather than a comic, because playing the month to month waiting game is hard.
I would definitely recommend this book to anyone interested in a good suspense. It reminds me of a couple movies, but I won't tell the titles as I don't want to ruin it for anyone who hasn't read it yet.
I liked this volume too! We got a fun little snooping scene and some more background on Petal's story. In this one, we learn more of what is taboo among the rich. It's really sinister. It's not crazy scary or anything, but it hits just the right amount of fear, anger and hopelessness. I think this is also where Joey and Petal's connection really starts forming.
I never thought I could look at a comic and think: "Wow this is the world taken a bit to literal". You know that saying, the one we really hate: the rich prey on the poor? Yeah, well this takes it word for word.
After thinking this was coming out last week, made another 40-minute drive to the (not so) LCBS to pick this up today. Well, I understood this issue and things are proceeding as I thought they would. On the one hand, that's good as so often I am confused with these tales. On the other hand, this seems like quite a straightforward tale. There's only a few more issues. Right now, there isn't much dangling for intrigue.
Astor's medicinal use that he wants to hide might have a little thread of interest, but not much. Will Petal be saved? Does she even to be? Perhaps that will be interesting. Will Astor's mother ratchet up the storyline? Perhaps.
Joy is our hero. What will her story end up being?
