I listened to a little over half the book on audio and did not finish. I found the book too slow to get into. The narrator was slow in speaking and it seemed the author used a ton of words and nothing really happened. Overall I’m disappointed. I wanted a suspenseful novel and got a somewhat boring one instead. I have read a lot of Karen Robards and really liked them.

Beauty Queen marries older man. Older man loses interest and cheats on beauty queen. Beauty Queen follows husband and gets in trouble, car stolen and life threaten. Our heroine is rescued by a cross dressing private dective.

Romantic suspense books are a balance between a romance and an underlying mystery or plot. Karen Robards writes both well, but I thought this book was too heavy on the romance and to light on the plot. However, it was generally a fun read.
