I tried so hard to like this book I just couldnt..I dislike dead exs because then the ppls never move on and that's the deal with this H he promised his first and "only" love at 17 when she died he would never love again.. and he kept to that.. until his obession comes with h.. but he becomes a asshole and pushes her away when she tries to go on dates with him.. I felt so bad she was fight against a ghost.. and on top of that she has to be around him because of a mistake she did.. and got his brother shot (was a accident)... but that didnt even keep interested...

Ow drama (dead ex), drama, slight secondary character

The Hacker is my favorite book out of the Chicago Bratva! The pain, love, devotion, secrets, and excellent writing brought this book to the top of the 5 star list this year. Renee knows how to write a series and keep every story unique and suspenseful. There was not one moment while reading this book that I thought when is this book going to end... I was so into it, that I was sad to see it end. But on the good side, we will get the next one soon!

Damn, Dima was stubborn! Natasha was wishy-washy too though, but she wanted her man. I feel sorry for Nikolai having to listen to all that jazz going on lol. Luckily Dima finally got his act together but not after some bratva drama. 4 stars

4.5⭐

Dima and Natasha's story is definitely my favourite just because these two gave me all the feels. What, with Dima's back and forth with his feelings while Natasha is not giving him up. I totally felt for Dima, that he didn't want to live fully because of his promise. But at the same time, I didn't like that he hurt Natasha. I was rooting for Natasha all the way. I felt bad for her. I loved that she was really strong though.

I definitely loved this one.

I'm a little in love with Dima. This is the 5th in Renee's Chicago Bratva series and this time the Ravil's hacker takes centre stage with the bubbly and beautiful Kremlin masseuse Natasha. This book is steamy with a little extra forced proximity and some seriously dominant vibes from Dima. Who knew the hacker had it in him?

This is a perfect addition to the series and I loved learning about Dima's past and getting more of an insight in to his relationship with his twin and the guilt he feels for getting them wrapped up with the Bratva. Dima is a tortured and broken hearted soul. He keeps his heart locked away and maintains a level of control over himself and his desires. Along comes Natasha and breaks down some of his barriers but not enough that you don't feel every gut wrenching, painful moment with her. This was what hooked me with The Hacker. It felt so very real. You feel every emotion alongside these two on their path towards their happy ending.

I enjoyed the crossovers of this story with the other members of the family. Ravil especially always has a role to play as Pakhan. And Story and Oleg will always hold a place in my heart. I love Oleg's contributions to the family relationships. Looking forward to what Renee has planned for Nikolai next.....

Dima's story was ok-ish. It was kinda sweet, easy to read and a nice addition to the series. Personally, I don't really like stories that Reading is an escape from reality for me and this is one of the few things that I can't stand because it greatly affects me.

A CAPTIVE AND HER CAPTOR

The story is the fifth in the Chicago Bratva series but could read well as a stand-alone. Dima is the hacker and part of the Chicago Bratva, under Ravil—Natasha Zolotova, along with her mother, live in the Kremlin, where her mother is a midwife and healer and Natasha has worked with her mother. She is also a masseuse, and Dima has used her professional services. While the two characters have known each other, it is only in a professional manner.

The story’s plot will have Dima making an appointment with Natasha for a massage but act angry and tenser when it is over. Natasha asks Dima about attending a high-stakes card game, and he finally capitulates and tells her when and where. What a shock when she shows up, dressed in a sexy dress, and with another man—Alex. The situation goes from bad to a gun going off, and Nikolai is shot by Alex, a Fed.

“He dies, you die.”

“I am disappointed, Natasha. I consider you and your mother to be family. You were under my protection. This feels like a violation of trust.” --Ravil

The story will have Dima, Natasha, and Nikolai in a hidden cabin, where she will use her medical EMT training and be in charge of tending to Nikolai as he recovers. Dima is so angry, he holds her responsible, and even Ravil questions his trust in her. Natasha’s life hangs in the balance—what has she done—and how can she make things right.

The story mainly revolves around Dima and Natasha—they each have feelings for one another, but a promise haunts him to his first love, and she was warned not to get involved with Bratva men. Dima is angry, and he takes his anger and frustrations out of Natasha, punishing her for what he feels. She wasn’t into Alex and had hoped to make Dima jealous—but that has all backfired, and now Nikolai is paying the price.

Natasha: I would think you would trust us by now.
Dima: It was my trust in your that got us into this, wasn’t it?
Natasha: I didn’t know he was a Fed, and I wasn’t a party to his infiltration plan. So I’m a prisoner here.
Dima: Maybe think of it more as detention. You’re here as a consequence. We’re still examining the finer points of what happened.

The story keeps the pages turning as the past collides with the present. Dima is angry with himself for having feelings and desire for Natasha. She is caught in a situation she helped create and yet, was innocent in what would transpire. Her feelings for Dima are strong, the sexual chemistry between them is erotic, but the ghost of the past is holding him prisoner. When this is over and done, will she be able to move forward in her life and put Dima in the past? Has he lived with a teenage promise that has robbed him of a future and happiness?

“The irony isn’t lost of me that I wasn’t ready to open my heart until the day she closed hers.”

The story has power exchange, dominance, control, and explicit sex scenes. It has life and death danger, some violence—but best of all, it has chemistry and romance.

Dima wanted to follow his love Alyona in death. Nikolai, his twin, wasn’t about to let that happen. They both owed a debt to the Bratva and were now forever indebted. Natasha Zolotova is a resident of the building they all live in. Dima just can’t seem to stop watching her. She is too young for him but there is something about her that draws him in. Natasha is a massage therapist and has seen Dima a few times. But there is something about him. He doesn’t want any relationship but perhaps Natasha will change all that and show him how to live again.

I love this Bratva family. I think we all have been waiting on Dima’s. Our hacker, all sexy. We knew about the teasing from his brother Nikolai. Dima always had a thing for Natasha. He was just being hardheaded and thinking that he had to honor an old promise. When you are young, you think the world ends but as you grow older, you learn that life is worth living. At times I cried for Natasha. She was getting mixed signals from Dima but it took her having the courage to stand up to him that slapped him in the face. Their love was hot and sad at times. We now need to find someone for out Bookie, Nikolai. I’m sure his mother will be happy.

Every time Renee Rose mentions a new book, I get excited. I know I'm going to get a really good story that will hook me right from the start and yup, this one did just that. I love Dima and Natasha's story. Trying to go through life after a tragic past has Dima not wanting to have a relationship with any woman, but Natasha has worked her way into his life. When she makes a mistake by bringing someone into the building that shouldn't be there, it's up to him to find out what she's really involved in. Danger, angst, betrayal..........it's all here, along with a beautifully written love story. Is Dima going to mess this up? (of course he is) Will Natasha let him in her life for good? Well, you need to get the book and see for yourself. I loved seeing all the characters from the previous books in this series! Another keeper from Ms. Rose!!

Dima and Natasha lead you on quite the ride as they try and work through all the problems and differences that are placed in their path. Dima is still trying to get past the death of his first love and Natasha knows her mother is not going to be happy with her getting involved the Dima. How they get to their HEA makes for a great read! This next instalment in this series doesn’t disappoint that’s for sure!

Dima is a man who can hack his way into any organization’s records, but he can’t hack into his own past. He’s hung up on a promise he made as a teenager to a lost love, and it’s complicated everything he does as a man, especially when it comes to Natasha. She could be the love of his life—if he can just hack into his own internal database and set things right.

Dima has to transform in this book, and it certainly takes him a while to get there. He waffles for much of The Hacker, pretending he’s not moving his relationship with Natasha into a different place when they become physical. Natasha is pretty much perfect in this book; the only error she makes is a strategic misfire to make Dima jealous that instead results in injury and danger to his bratva brothers. So the plot action truly rests on Dima, and it can be frustrating to see him take one step forward, then two steps back in this book.

I loved the way Rose weaved in supporting characters from previous books in this Chicago Bratva series, and I especially liked the way Dima’s twin brother Nikolai was fleshed out more. The antagonist in The Hacker was interesting, but I did wonder why the bratva was seemingly not that concerned about potential exposure to the FBI. That got brushed aside a bit too easily for me.

But it’s fun to see a brooding hero realize that he needs to change his own life as much as he changes other’s lives with his hacking talents. And seeing this particular prince hack through the briars of his own making is a treat.

Kobo+ Contemporary Romance Series Challenge 2025. Tropes: Crime/Mafia, BDSM, Family/Friends.

MC's h. Natasha, Massage Therapist, lives in Kremlin, mother Svetlana midwife.

H. Dima, Hacker for Chicago Bravta, twin brother Nikolai, Bookie for Chicago Bravta. First love died from Cancer when 17. Mother lives in Russia. Both brother live on the top floor of the Kremlin with Ravil (Lucy & Baby Ben), Maxim (Sasha), Oleg (Story), Pavel moved to LA with Kayla.

If you are looking for a short story (novella) with a little bit of BDSM (Kink), a sad love story, and a little bit of Bravta drama this would be for you.
I generally like mafia/crime stories but this series the Chicago Bravta is a little bit lacking in Crime and the short love stories are okay but nothing really special. After I read the story about Nikolai I am not going to read the rest of the stories in this series. I am done.

Story: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Trope: friends to lovers
Angst: 😰😰😰
Smexy: 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Triggers: none

Slight spoilers in the review.

The Hacker is a great addition to Renee Rose's Chicago Bratva series. The storyline was great and it was well written. I'm always a big fan of the nerd hero of the group, but this one just didn't do it for me as much as the others in the series. Dima was super torn up about the loss of his previous love and it led him to be pretty cruel to Natasha as he attempted to work through his feelings. The smexy times were really hot, but it made me feel like there was another person in the room with them. It was great to see Natasha finally stand up for herself after putting herself out there over and over. The grovel and grand gesture were good, so if that's your thing, this is definitely the book for you! Can't wait for The Bookie!

The Hacker is the 5th book in Renee Rose’s Chicago Bratva series.

Dima is a hacker for the Chicago Bratva. Natasha is a masseuse, who also helps her mother with her midwifery. Both feel an intense attraction to one another, yet neither as acted on it for different reasons.
When an error on Natasha’s part leaves Dima’s brother badly wounded. Her trust in the Bratva is questioned, and she’s tasked with Nikolai’s recovery with Dima watching.

“ℋ𝑒 𝒟𝒾𝑒𝓈, 𝒴𝑜𝓊 𝒟𝒾𝑒...“

Can Natasha prove her innocence? What happens when the lines begin to blur?

This story is full of drama, suspense, action, and steamy goodness. It was a great story to read and I definitely recommend to those that love a good Bratva story.

Fabulous

Five star read for me.
I love this series, and reading how every bratva guy is finding his girl. Dima and Natasha are no exception, and the addition of Dima's ghost made things complicated, which just added that perfect edge of emotional connection and drama.

I feel like I need to go live at the Kremlin (the building most of the characters from this series live in).

Nikolai and Dima are twins, and members of the Bratva. Dima is the “hacker”. He has become interested in Natasha - also from the Kremlin.

When she asks to join a card game and things go sideways. Dima wants to protect her, but he cannot give his heart to her.

Very emotional. Such a tender, tough and incredible story!! This continues to be a phenomenal series.

Dima is a hacker for his Chicago mafia group, and he's had a crush on beautiful Natasha for awhile, who lives in his building. However, Dima's childhood lover died, and he's stuck true to his promise to her that he wouldn't love again. This was such a misguided notion, and while it may seem romantic, was a bit immature of him since he literally is preventing himself from moving on with his life.

Natasha yearns to feel accepted, and she works as a massage therapist even though her dream is to become a naturopath. With a lack of money, she's had to settle. She's also had a crush on Dima too, but although she tries to make him jealous, he blows hot and cold with her. She's understanably confused but willing to wait for him.

I just couldn't get into this story for some reason, and I think it has a lot to do with Dima going back and forth on his feelings about Natasha. For someone who's loved someone else so deeply, but with so much time passing, I'm frustrated that he can't logically think about the situation and move on. I did like the big gesture at the end, but that was the least he could've done, honestly.

Big dummy

Let me begin by say I love Renee Rose as an author. Whenever I see a book of hers pop up on Amazon I immediately purchase it without thinking twice. I am a fan for life. Now with that outta the way this addition to the Bratva series was a really thought red. It took me several days of pushing through tot reach the end. Dima was a full fledge DumbAzz! He was a-complete jerk and I was more then happy when Natasha left his sorry behind in the woods. Now my girl Natasha is not without fault in all this either. She allowed this immature jerk to use her body and play with her heart for far to long. She was young and naive for much of the story. The love scenes were not my fav and I was bored toward the end to be honest. This installment to the series lacked passion and desire. It was just a story about a boy living in the past and a young girl who fell in love with the nerdy computer jock. I give this story a VERY generous 2.5 stars. I will keep reading to finish the series, but I truly hope things get a bit better. Side note, my fav installment to the series still remains with Oleg and Story…they are GOALS!

A disappointing mafia romance.

I have loved every book I have read in this series, so I was really excited when this one released and one clicked it. However, I could not STAND this hero. He spent most of his time criticizing and denigrating the heroine in a passive aggressive, verbally abusive way. He was also a whiny drama llama, which I cannot stand in real life, much less in fiction. He was also really resistant to the thought of a committed relationship, which is the absolute OPPOSITE of sexy. It was really distasteful to read, and I was unable to continue past the 58% mark because this dude did not deserve to lick this heroine’s dirty foot, in my opinion. I highly recommend all the other books in this series, including the Bookie, which came out after this one, but this particular title I would not recommend people read or buy. Total fail. Such a shame.

The sexy twins are up next for finding their forever girl. Dima is a computer geek who accidentally dragged his brother into the Bratva when they were 18. Now quite a bit older, they have left the old world and followed their new boss to Chicago. There must be something in the Chicago water as these made men are breaking an old tradition left and right... they are getting married and having children.

This is the fifth book in the Chicago Bratva series. This book features Dima, the resident hacker that seems determined to live his life behind a screen. That is of course until the masseuse from downstairs enters the picture. Natasha is full of life and desperate to bring that light into Dima's world.

Just like with the earlier books, the writing in this one is excellent. I was immediately connected to both characters and completely engaged within the first few pages. The romance was both intense and sweet, and made for a really good story. Although it has numerous characters from previous books, it would also work perfectly well as a standalone.

sooo much pushing away by the H. people who don't mind that and the deceased ex trope, will surely rate this book higher than i have.
besides that, i also definitely could've used a lot more groveling. in my opinion bigger doesn't equal better, i.e. a big romantic gesture doesn't mean as much to me as a longer period of smaller acts of groveling would've. but at least i really did feel like the H knew how badly he'd screwed up, so that's good.

Dima is part of the Bratva that live in the Kremlin (a Russian community living in America looked after by the Bratva)
He’s not always been part of that group, but owing money to them means you pay them back, and they took both his brother’s and Dima’s life as payment.
They belong to the Bratva!!

Natasha knows that living in the Kremlin has afforded both herself and her mother a good life, they are able to work and live without fear.

Dima has been aware of Natasha from the day she and her mother moved into his vision. Fascinated and torn, he knows he should keep away, but he can’t!

Then one night it all gets thrown away…. Natasha is drawn into Dima’s world. Seeing the harsher side of Dima only makes Natasha want him more! But with every pull towards him, he then pushed her away!! Why??
Now that Natasha is in his world, Dima needs to walk away, he made a promise years ago, and he’s not about to break it. But she makes it so hard for him!!

This is book five In the Chicago Bratva Series, I’ve not read any of the previous books, and I don’t think it really matters. There isn’t a continuing storyline, but there are characters in this book that have already found their women, so I’m assuming they are in the previous books.

It’s a really good read, heavy on the angst (that’s from Dima) hot and steamy in places 😉 and appearances from previous characters (they are live with each other or close by)
I loved the interaction between the Bratva and Dima, they seemed more like brothers than a group of me.
I really liked how Dima wrestled with his emotions when it came to Natasha, it makes a change for the man to have doubts rather than the woman.
Natasha was great, a mixture of minx and innocence, she knew what she wanted and chased him😉
I’ve read a few Russian Mafia books lately, and this one although a little shorter than a few I’ve read, definitely holds its own.
I’m definitely going back to read the others. I want to learn if they come over from Russia, or if they are already established when the series starts.
And a couple of the characters that have their stories sound interesting. (Especially Oleg)

A recommended read.

After a friend recommended The Chicago Bratva series, I binge read the first four books in 3 days. To say I devoured them would be an understatement. I love mafia romance, and this series is up there as some of my favorites! It feels like I have been waiting forever for Dema’s book, but it’s really only been a few weeks. In previous books he was always quiet and a little reserved. He was either going to be a big softie or super intense. Well, he was a lot more intense than I thought he was going to be. While the connection he has with Natasha is front and center, I also enjoyed the connection and relationship he has with his twin, Nikolai. I think Rose did an amazing job including their bond, but didn’t allow it to take over the book. It was obvious as a reader they had a deep connection. As for Natasha, I couldn’t wait to see more of her after meeting her in previous books. One of the things I enjoy most about this series is that all of the ladies are different. Natasha is sweet, but also stands up for herself. She is driven, but will also be sensical about her choices. She is also very smart, but some old hang ups cloud her judgement at times. There were so many times in this book that my heart broke for her. Dema struggles to keep his feelings for Natasha in check, and Natasha tries her darndest to push him out of that comfort zone. When they finally connected it was steamy, and little kinky! Which I was here for! I loved the angst. And to be honest, I am not one that loves a lot of angst, but this had the right amount. There was some added twists and turns and I was anxiously awaiting how it was all going to play out. If you like an alpha male on the grumpy side that will fall hard for his girl, then this is the book for you! Honestly, this whole series is amazing and I have recommended it several times! December and Nikolai’s book cannot come soon enough for this girl!

“The Hacker” is the fifth book in the Chicago Bratva series and tells the story of Dima and Natasha. Dima sits quietly on the couch hiding behind his computer and working his magic. He tried to follow his love Alyona to the death but his twin, Nikolai would not let this happen. So, here they are forever indebted and working for the Chicago Bratva. Natasha Zolotova lives with her mother, in the building where only Russians live and is owned by the Ravil, the leader of the Chicago Bratva. Dima is fascinated with Natasha, he is drawn to her but can’t approach her because he feels, it is unfair to the memory of Alyona. Natasha is a massage therapist, is drawn to Dima and doesn’t understand why he is so aloof towards her.
The air is electric between them but he does not want any relationship. Can Natasha change his attitude and show him how to live again?
Uh Oh! The plot thickens! Natasha gets Dima to let her attend a high - stakes card game run by his brother Nikolai. Surprise! Surprise! She shows up, dressed in a sexy dress and with another man…..Alex. Things go from bad to worse, a gun goes off and Nikolai is shot by Alex….a Federal agent! Is Natasha a Federal agent? Will Nikolai live?
Now, we find Dima, Natasha and Nikolai living in a hidden cabin, as hopefully, Nikolai recovers. Natasha uses her medical EMT training to nurse him and is in charge of tending to him. Dima holds her responsible, is angry and questions his trust in her, as does Ravil. They question her loyalty and her life hangs in the balance. Can she make things right? Will they ever trust her, again?
The story keeps the pages turning! It is fast paced, with twists and turns, dominance, sex scenes, danger, death and a beautiful romantic story! Renee Rose has done it again!! Thank you

This is a wonderful read, riveting very cleverly written and great characters
This was a simply wonderful read it held me totally captivated and it also wound a web of subterfuge and I hate giving away too much about the story and dread to spoil the plot for other readers and this is so annoying for future readers.
I love books by Renee Rose she writes books where the characters have been gone into in so much detail and also the actual plot of the story had always been written in great detail, I loved the complexity of the plot and the way the characters interacted with each other.
This book is about a delightful redheaded character has brought into the group a FED and because of this one of the members of his family, his twin brother had been shot and this had not been well accepted as you can appreciate. To make up for this it seems that she is expected to work full time caring for all of his needs as he recovers in the sickbed.
She has been threatened by the twin brother of the shot man and has been warned that if they feel that she had not cared for hi proficiently they would ensure that she also lost her life in whatever manner they felt appropriate.
I assure you that you will enjoy every moment of this book and will not be able to put it down until you reach the finale.

I assure you that you will love every moment of this book it is simply a fantastic read.
