Review:
I want to start by giving this author her flowers. Especially because it’s hard writing a book in the first place. At least for me it is. I’m not totally sure if this was her first book, but I did appreciate this story!
The main character “Karmina Wilson” went through so many tough situations. I felt for her. At 15, she was forced to put her foot down and make her mark simply for the way that she was treated. How she looked was a problem for others. From young she had it rough. This young lady couldn’t catch a break to save her life. You name it she caught hell from all areas of her life. Not even school could help her escape from her reality. From home to school she was talked down to. Just down- right disrespected!
Although this book had many editing errors in the text, I decided to stick with it and finish it anyway. (I personally don’t like to start and not finish). Which is not why I gave it a 3. I loved to be grasped by a book and getting sent to another dimension. This book didn’t do that for me completely. I would’ve loved to see the names of each chapter. I guess I’m ol’ skool. That would’ve pulled me in a little more each time I read. I feel like it gives the reader a heads up on what’s about happen, or maybe even some type of storyline yu know?! But I understand that in the writing world it can be a hit or miss. Things happen. So no judgement to the writer!
Karmina wasn’t loved properly at all. Her mother, I feel, was like a stranger to her that fumed nothing but hate from beginning to end. Having a miserable life to start with is why I empathized with her. I understood the grief, the sadness, the amount of low self-esteem she had endured for so long. She didn’t go up “fast” at all. She was a good girl! Something a mother with a daughter would pray for! Right? Karmina pretty much had nothing or no one to look up too. I love the charter Kozy. He slightly rough round’ the edges but he had my vote! The amount of respect he showed her was amazing. I love a hero in a story lol. I’m a woman that’s big on respect ✊🏽 so I definitely sided with him. He had his own issues too though. Karmina definitely had some internal issues brewing to surface that I didn’t like. Some of the decisions she made came from hate, which I didn’t like either!
In the next book, I actually want to know what happens to Kozy. And especially Karmina’s next move. Because her life depends on her next move with the bed of a mess she made!
