Two days before Christmas, single mom Blythe Mason is stunned when her car is not at the mechanic’s shop where she dropped it off. Her surprise soon gives way to panic when they figure out that an employee gave her car to the wrong person and it is now five hundred miles away. All the Christmas gifts that she’d carefully budgeted out for her children since July were in the trunk.
Zayden Crile can’t believe his employee made such a huge mistake. And of all people it had to be his former sister-in-law. She’s still upset that his brother ran off with the nurse, leaving her with two small children. She has struggled, and to make things a little easier Zayden takes care of her car as a favor. He certainly never intended to make a mistake which could ruin Christmas for his niece and nephew.
Forced to ride together to get her car, Blythe starts to see Zayden in a new light and realizes that maybe she married the wrong brother.Could one honest mistake patch a new family together?Reviews for Christmas Car ★★★★★ "This is one of the sweetest books I have read in awhile. First review: This was a really good book and I loved it. But it does need another edit. There was back and forth information contradicting with other information early in the book. And just misspelled words. But I enjoyed the book.
Final Review: So let me start off by stating I only gave this story a 3/10 rating. But! That was only because of the many spelling errors, holes in the story, and a conflicting story line. Even with all that, I really did enjoy the story. And if these things were to get fixed, this story would be really good. The story line is simple even. A single mother takes her car in right before Christmas. The day before Christmas she goes to pick up her car from the shop. Now the weird thing was that she left all of her kids gifts in the car when she dropped it off. So of course the car gets handed to the wrong customer, who lives a while away. So who is to the rescue? The ex brother in law, who also owns the shop the car was at. After containing the other customer, they race ove on christmas night to swap the cars. They face just about every problem they could on the way over. This allows the characters to grow their relationship, which turns more romantic then either would have guessed. I liked the fast character build up as the story ends. It was a fun first read, and hit that romantic Christmas hit I needed at the time of reading. This is a very short novella but it is packed full of emotions and a great short story.
Blythe takes her car to her ex-husband's brother, Zayden's shop to get it worked on. Zayden doesn't usually charge her because he wants the car safe for her and his niece and nephew. His brother Ken left her and the kids two years ago for another woman and is now taking her on a vacation to Cancun.
When Blythe goes to get her car she finds out that her car was given to a customer who was headed to New York for the holidays. The car she is left with looks just like hers but does not have the car seats and her children's Christmas presents in it. Zayden arranges to go to New York and get her car for her.
A really good read, should be on your list for Christmas reading this year.
Been seeing this all over the place, so I downloaded it.
It is two days before Christmas and Blythe Mason is stunned to find that her car is not at the mechanic's shop where she dropped it off. She is a single mom and all the gifts she had for the kids are in that trunk. Her surprise soon turns to panic when they figure out that the employee gave her car to the wrong person and it is now 500 miles away. Luckily, Zayden owns the shop and is her ex-brother-in-law and he will do what it takes to make this right.
WHAT a scumbag that ex of Blythe is!!! F that guy. Terrible. She for sure picked the wrong brother. He lies, manipulates, and is so selfish. Bad guy. I hope he gets his heart destroyed.
Loved Zayden and Blythe. They are perfect for each other. It was nice seeing them finally get their feelings out and fall in love. Adorable.
I did adore the grandparents. They were adorable too. I did question the portrayal a little bit. The author made it seem like they were in their 90s...but they were barely in their 70s. They seemed overly frail. I mean....it's possible, but if they are that fragile and frail they shouldn't be making out and dancing like they are teens ;)
But yes - this was adorable and will make you cheer when they finally admit their feelings.
I liked the story, but there were inconsistencies that bugged me. And the portrayal of people circa 70 years old was ridiculous. Old folks home, having to be signed out like a preschooler, trembling transparent fingers and canes. Maybe if they had been 90, but come on. All that considered, Hayden and Blythe's story was very sweet and ended on a very good note.
A sweet and fun story—instead of friends to lovers, this is in-laws to lovers. I liked both main characters as well as their cute grandparents. Although it's quite short, the story is complete. Light-hearted entertainment.
Single mother Blythe Mason has had it tough. After her husband Ken ran out on her and her two kids, she's been struggling to keep her family afloat, with the help of her ex-brother-in-law Zayden. After Blythe discovers her car was accidentally swapped with another customer's at Zayden's auto repair shop and is now headed toward New York—with all her children's Christmas presents stashed in the back trunk—she and Zayden set out on a car trip to retrieve it, along with Blythe's grandmother and Zayden's grandfather. As they get to know each other better, Blythe begins to think that maybe she and Zayden were the ones meant for each other.
This short story was…marginally okay. However, the writing had so, so, so many errors!! Oh my gosh, it was so bad. You wouldn't believe how many grammatical, punctuation, and spelling errors there were!! Like, I can't even—gosh, it was so bad. Not only that but the writing sans the errors was still bad. So many times, I couldn't even figure out what the author was trying to say because the wording was so off or ambiguous. Weird sentence structure, strange phrasing, odd writing in general. The writing just needs help. I don't even know if the author proofread this before publishing. There was even a continuity error; the number of years Blythe mentioned changed later and didn't add up.
The characters were mediocre. Zayden was okay, but I didn't like Blythe.
The author appeared to be a Christian and incorporated Christian Christmas themes but then said that Blythe thought Zayden was gay. That threw me off. I don't know why the author would put that in, and it really disappointed me that she did.
Overall, this story was meh. The awful writing errors are enough reason to give it only 2 stars.
This is a 2. I just dont give out stars. Zayden helps Blythe out with her car and kids since she is divorced. Zayden and Blythe are hot for each other, in a clean kind of romance novel way. Actually, Blythe is divorced from Zayden's brother, Ken. Ken is basically a scumbag. (This sounds soap opera like. ) Now, add the grandparents, from each side, to the mix. They are in love with each other. It is comical when you think of the story, but it isn't written with any funny moments. Instead there is second guessing of feelings, snowstorm, lost cars, and groaning attraction. A few kisses are detailed and that is unintended funny, also. I read Christmas books through November, December, and part of January. Many of these little novels are just silly. Some are plain bad. This was silly and maybe leaning to bad. You may find this sweet. I found it to be funny, after the fact when I thought of the plot, because of such nonsense. Oh, the Christmas dinner scene. Ridiculous! And to think of the poor kids, it it was real life.
Enjoyed Blythe and Zayden's story, it was unique. Hayden had loved Blythe ever since he met her, but his brother told her he was gay. Blythe married Ken, had two children, then 10 years later Ken left her, all the while Zayden helped her out where ever he could. Car maintenance was one of the ways he helped her. A couple days before Christmas a mix up at his garage had her car and another customers with the wrong car. Making for a road trip to make things right. I loved Gram and Grandpap, both were full of spunk. If you like clean, second chance stories, you can't go wrong with 'Christmas Car Kerfuffle'. I received this book from the publisher. The thoughts and comments are my own.
Christmas Car Kerfuffle was such a fun read! I loved this novella, and how the mix up of a car can finally bring Blythe and Zayden together. He was so sweet and steady, always helping her, and even though she had some trust issues thanks to her ex-husband, it was nice getting to see her realization that the man who stood before her (and had for years) was worth taking a chance on. Of course, the family relationships had me questioning how it was all going to play out, but the end was certainly satisfying. Another Jessie Gussman hit, or just a small taste of what an incredible sweet-romance author she is. ~4.5 stars
This was a cute book in the typical Jessie Gussman fashion. Both Blythe and Zayden are a wonderful pair. Blythe was divorced from Zayden’s brother after he cheated on her. Now two years later Blythe has taken her car to Zayden’s garage but there was a mix up when another clients sister picked up the wrong car to be delivered. This would not normally be too bad and other arrangements could have been made had it not been two days until Christmas and her children’s gifts were all in the trunk of the car in New York. Read about their fun road trip with gram and grandpap to pick up the car. (The story could have used another set of eyes for editing. )
This is one of the sweetest books I have read in awhile. Sometimes a good sweet wholesome romance is just what a girl needs.
This one starts with our girl Blythe going to pick up her car from her ex-brother in law's auto shop, just one little problem, it's not her car! Well that's not good, what's worse tho, her children's Christmas presents are in the trunk of HER car and it's 2 days till Christmas.
So off on a little adventure to get her car back, with her Ex BIL, Zayden, his grandpap and her gran, she goes. There's some matchmaking, snow, and a detour.
Not a bad quick read. I like to pick out parts of the book and share them with Jessie's fans.
Blythe wasn't confused. Not about Zayden and what she felt. She just wasn't sure how that would look. To his parents. To hers. To everyone. Like she was replacing one brother with the other. The one she should have chosen to begin with. Ken had been smoother, more mature. A doctor, for goodness sake. And Zayden had been... comfortable. A little immature for her, since she was a woman-of-the-world and he was just a recent high school grad. She should have looked deeper.
I'm glad Blythe didn't get back together with her two-timing ex, the arrogant s.o.b!
This was a short novella with numerous spelling and grammatical errors !! There were so many errors that I found it distracting while trying to read the book. At times, it was even hard to tell which character was talking. I only finished this book because it was such a short read. I am just shocked that an author would allow a book to be published with so many errors. Please, somebody edit this book and then publish it again!! I also just didn't care for the entire story line. I think that having a relationship with a brother-in-law is just "not right", but that is my own personal opinion.
I was drawn to the book by the use of the word Kerfuffle in the title. Very fun title. The story is sweet and I'm glad Blythe and Zayden could have their happily ever after. Their relationship prior to the romance was wonderful too. He treated her and her children so much better than their father did. I really liked Zayden. And their grandparents were a hoot. Loved them.
So this was a sweet little Christmasy story. A very quick read so perfect if you want to finish the book in an evening. Enjoy
This sweet clean Christmas story is a fun read. Blythe takes her car to be repaired and when she comes to pick it up, a car that looks identical to hers is in the lot but not her car. When Zayden, he ex-brother in law and owner of the shop hears about the mistake, he offers to drive the other car to New York to fix the mistake. When his Grandpap and Blythes Gram end up riding with him, Blythe goes along to try her had with a little match making. There are some funny things that happen along the trip and the ending is pure delight.
I liked this cute, short story. Christmas is almost a disaster when Blythe's car is given to the wrong person. So Blythe, Zayden, & their grandparents all take a ride to trade out the cars & retrieve the Christmas presents for Blythe's children. There is more than 1 romance that develops among these 4 adults. Blythe's ex, Ken, I really didn't like. He is so selfish & hurtful to his brother but he gets what he deserves.
I honestly picked up this book because of the word kerfuffle lol. It sounded cute and perfect for the holidays. I gave this book 3 stars, it was ok but not great. This story had so much potential. I really like the story line and even the character arcs but I was just wanting more. I think it would have been better if it were a bit longer and the details were more flushed out. All in all this was a cute novella for the holidays.
I originally wrote a review under VICKI FROM WYOMING for this book, which seems to have disappeared. This is the first book that I had read from Jessie Gussman and what a treasure to have stumbled into her books. This was a very short and easy read to just pass some time. A sweet little holiday theme that left me both smiling and shaking my head! Delightful!
Such a refreshing story of a first love finally getting a chance to come to fruition!
Thank you for not keeping them dancing around bush with doubts and second guessing their emotions! You allowed them to speak their minds and have clear, honest communication with each other so they could move forward with clear and honest intentions.
I am not sure what book I read because the description of Christmas Car Kerfuffle is different. This book is about a single pregnant women who rents a room from a fire captain named Andrew. It is a very good book, the characters are well developed and the relationship moves at a nice pace. I really enjoyed it.
Neither Blythe nor Zayden would have thought that a day that started as badly as the day before Christmas Eve could end so well. This short story is very sweet with strong, faithful characters. I hope you will enjoy reading how Blythe finally found someone who definitely thought the world of her.
Cute little novella. Blythe has been divorced for a couple of years and she still feels inadequate after her husband left her. Her brother in law has been a steady, helpful presence in her and her children's lives. A mix up with her car and a long trip to recover it reveals many things that will change everyone's lives in a very good way. Sweet little love story.
I love the way Blythe had a second chance at love, even though it's with her ex-husband's (Ken) brother (Zayden). He had loved her for 10 years but didn't say anything, because she married his brother. He divorced her two years ago. The ending was great.
I received a free book, and this is my honest opinion.
This was a super cute story! A quick read, but I really enjoyed the storyline. Blythe is a single mother, recently divorced. She has feelings for a guy, but that’s where it becomes difficult. She’s not sure if he even likes women. That’s not the only controversy that could cause riffs in this potential relationship! I wish the story was a little longer, as I would’ve loved some more!!
Quick read. Enjoyed how the story brought two couples together through a mix up in giving the wrong person the wrong car. Similar cars and different owners which put four people on a road trip just two days before Christmas so that Christmas gifts who were stashed in the trunk could be returned to the right owner. Great read.
She married the wrong brother. So he’s a doctor and very full of himself, lies to his wife, lies about his brother, but his brother has always been there for her. His garage did two almost identical cars and sent the wrong one home to New York with her Christmas gifts hiding in the trunk. That’s the kerfuffle. Anyway I loved the ending.
Cute short read, a different story of romance, better late than never, or your never too old for true love. Grandpap and Gram are awesome & together love radiates from them......Congrats! Blythe gets another chance at love - so glad she stood up for herself being honest with Ken and Zayden.
A story about Zayden and Blythe. They had known each other for years. Zayden always dreamed about being with her. But she married his brother and that didn't work out. Zayden always worked on car and his helper ends up giving it to another customer. I recommend this book.
What fun adventures can come from a mixup with a car and a winter road trip to recover lost Christmas presents? This is a fun, short story with many twists and unexpected events.
I like the interaction with the grandparents. It's a clean, modern day romance with a happy ending. Just what is needed for a relaxing evening's read. Thank you for sharing this story.
