Blood Alliance #6

Cruelly Bitten

Rate this book
Once upon a time, humankind ruled the world while lycans and vampires lived in secret.
This is no longer that time.

Ismerelda
The male I’m forever bonded to is now a monster. A cruel beast. A vampire without remorse and no memories of our previous existence together.

He has no idea who I am. What I mean to him. Who we used to be together. But I’m not giving up.

He will remember me. I vow it.

Cam
I’m a vampire king. A superior being to all the rest.

Except her. The female who refuses to bow.

I’m going to break her. Destroy her. Reform her. And when she’s finally learned her place at my side, I’m going to end her.

Because I have no need for a disobedient pet. I’m meant to rule this alliance, and that’s exactly what I’ll do.

Welcome to the new reign.
It’s filled with blood, broken alliances, and littered with death.
My kingdom. My rules. My future.

3.5 stars ⭐️

I waited so long for this book, I was sure it was going to be a 5 ++++++ ⭐️ read, but unfortunately it fell flat in some parts!

Part one went on for too long. There was waaaay too much of Izzy’s internal monologue. It just got to be repetitive after a while. Then the last part, the destruction and dismantling of the blood alliance was so short it was basically an afterthought. I was hoping that we would get at least a semblance of an explanation about what the new world looked like in the epilogue, but no, it was just Cam and Izzy boning.

I didn’t hate this book. It was good! It just didn’t live up to my expectations, especially considering how many times the release date was pushed back.

I CAN’T WAITTT!!!!! i’m sooo hyped for the release of this book, i can’t even… bdw, for people wondering ( like i did), this book hasn’t been released yet. i was so confused when i saw that it apparently came out in august 2022, yet couldn’t find a trace of it anywhere on the internet, until i saw the author’s facebook post from november 2022 where she answered the question everyone has been asking ( when is the book coming out) by saying that she’s currently struggling with mental health and needs some time to herself. as much as i would LOVEE to be able to read it, i absolutely, 100%, understand her reasons. mental health is top 1 priority. we all love this universe and lexi c foss and that isn’t going to change.

Worth the wait!

Usually, I wouldn't comment about an author pushing back a book, but Lexi has been open with her concerns — including the sweet dedication to her readers. But I am glad she took the time to give this series the ending it deserved (and didn’t split this last one into two).

We had heard so much about Cam and Izzy throughout the series, so it was wonderful to see their evolved story.

Speaking of evolution…I loved Cam’s character arc. We knew going in that the Cam of this book was not the Cam who disappeared 100 years ago, but it was great to see him do more than just get back to who he was but work to become a better man.

It’s hard to leave a review that’s not “zomg, I loved X, Y, Z” and stay spoiler-free. So, I’ll sum it up with the fact that I was engrossed for all 693 pages!

The finale to the Blood Alliance series is finally here.

Cam and Izzy are reunited after a century apart. They’ve been mates for 1000 years but over a century ago, Cam went to confront Lilith and never returned. Now he’s back but he’s different. He’s cold, cruel, violent and he doesn’t recognize his own mate or remember his past. Convinced that Izzy is a weakness he needs to rid himself of he decides to take Izzy prisoner and use and abuse her until he’s bored and then kill her once and for all.

Check the trigger warnings at the beginning of the book. Cam is incredibly violent and cruel in part one.
There is also a lot of violence involving other characters.

Izzy is also not the same girl she was 100 years ago. She’s grown into an independent, resilient and incredibly strong and intelligent woman. She is horrified by the changes in her mate but is determined to make him remember her and their past and get him back no matter how much he hurts her.

Izzy is both vulnerable and strong. She’s fragile but she’s determined and Cam begins to see her as less of a weakness and more of a Queen he wants by his side for eternity.

This book has one of the best grovels I have read in a long time. Once Cam finally comes around he does a full 180 and is determined to earn his mates trust and forgiveness and put her first and secure their future.

This book also had a lot of twists and turns in regards to who the real villain was and past characters returned for the final battle.

I’m really looking forward to the spin off series with Khalid and Emine.

Overall the book was good. The first part was bit too drawn out and the ending was a bit too brief. It left me with a lot of questions about the future state of the world. I wish Izzy had been turned earlier in the book that would have been a nice addition.

It’s crazy to me that the last book In this series came out almost 3 years ago. The publishing date keeps getting pushed. It was supposed to come out on 1.31 and kindle reminded me, then the date got pushed again. So annoying.

"The hero you loved is dead. Consider me your villain instead"
I don't want to say goodbye!!
What a way to wrap up the series!

"A future where there are no heroes. No swans. Just us."
Prepare yourself for this finale!
You are not going to be able to walk away unscathed

“I’m not a protector, little swan. I’m a monster,”
I was so haunted by what was happening, the losses, the betrayals, all the unknowns
I believed like everyone did, in the miracle, the savior

"you don’t lead them, then all this loss will have been for nothing”
They stayed with me long after the final scene
Even when I finally got to the HEA and the series wrapped up
All the secrets were revealed
The losses counted
The echos remained

Some Favorite Moments: edited a bit to keep the surprises a surprise

“I’m not a protector, little swan. I’m a monster,”

“I learned long ago that there is no sense in living my life in constant fear of what might be; it’s better to just embrace what is, instead.”

"This female had been mine to protect and cherish, and I’d hurt that trust. Betrayed her love. Damaged her soul."

“But my former self was weak. That version of me chose a mission over you. Put the world’s fate before your own. I’m not that man anymore. I’m not altruistic. I’m selfish. Arrogant. Possessive."

“I might not be your preferred version, Ismerelda, but I’m the right version. Because you’re not who you used to be either. You’re not a swan anymore, darling. You’re a lioness. A queen. And if you let me, I’ll be your king.”

"The hero you loved is dead. Consider me your villain instead"

“I’m not him,” I said, something I’d already confirmed before. “But he was a fool.”

"you don’t lead them, then all this loss will have been for nothing”

"Because while I may become their king, I will always serve you first, not them.”

"And together, we’ll chase away the pain. Define our future, and give purpose to our past.”

"It’s easier to survive when all you care about is yourself. No pain. No heartache. No potential weakness.”

My Cam was a villain. A dark heart. A predator with a penchant for practicality. He wouldn’t bow. He would slay. For himself. For me. For us. We would survive this. We would persevere. We will move forward.

A future where there are no heroes. No swans. Just us.

Little kudos to myself 😆 I guessed it!

Cam is no longer the Cam we learned about now that he has been resurrected. A cold, heartless, monster ready and set to rule his kingdom. He can’t seem to let go of Izzy even though he wants to annihilate her. She needs to be his submissive little pet in this new world if she wants to survive. But Izzy holds all his memories now that he can’t remember the last thousand years about her. She is a Queen ready to take back her King.

A presto!

I love how I had to wait for this book for years just to be fucking ruined by a gang raped on the page. And it didn't matter because she was anally raped and it didn't break the bond between them. Bravo!, that's all that matters right? Wonderful.

There were TW and the author didn't say that there was raped (pretty sure that needs to be put in the list of TW)

Enyway, this book is shit.

DNF @ 47%

Groveling: we were promised groveling and the first impression that gave me (and for me) there wasn't enough grovel from the beginning of the second part.

At first, it was going great then the gang-raped happened everything fucking went south.

I'm not going to read this author ever again.

I’m already rating this book 5 stars because I know for a fact that Lexi only delivers amazing content! I really appreciate the time she takes to develop a whole world for us to get immersed in. The fact that she is still working so hard to bring this book to us even though she JUST had a baby very recently just shows the level of dedication she has to her readers! Being someone who works with newborns as a professional career, the postpartum period is so wonderfully overwhelming, exhausting while also exhilarating and she is still making sure her readers know she cares! Enjoy your baby Lexi and we will all be here when this book is released!!

This book was heartbreaking at times but also just as fascinating. Despite the harsh treatment between Izzy and Cam in the first half, I did find the first part much more interesting than the second part. I think it had alot to do with the pacing tbh. The second part felt a wee bit overwhelming with the amount of activity and characters involved, especially with the jumping POVs. Though I'll never complain about getting to be in Kylan or Ryder's heads. Ever. Or seeing them banter and sass everyone as team.

While this book was intense and I think handled the separation between Cam and Izzy mostly well and kept things true to their characters I did find it a bit tedious. The long winded monologuing from Izzy eventually started to wear on my nerves due to it feeling either repetitive or unnecessarily detailed. I understood we need to see her thought process and work this complicated situation out but it definitely began to make me very impatient with each occurrence. Same for the excessive use of Cam calling Izzy "my queen" because while that was cute and hot as hell at first it got ridiculous real quick once it was being used every other sentence almost.

Otherwise I'd say this was a mostly satisfying way to wrap this series. I think the shining aspect of this entire series was the overarching plot of why Cam disappeared and what his big plan was and ultimately who captured him and was pulling everyone's strings. To me that was the highlight of the series..Yes I enjoyed most of the MCs and couples (Hi Kylan/Rae and Ryder/Willow) but I think book two and book four were the big ones for me. Those really just reached out and grabbed me by the throat and I couldn't put the books down. So, even though I eventually pieced everything together and figured out who was the true big bad it was still interesting to see everything play out because everything and everyone was just so incredibly tangled together in this messy web of deceit. And learning their motivations and who helped them etc and the true purpose of how this entire new world came about was just super fascinating for me.

Oh this book, this book, this book....
We waited so long for this and I can with my hand on my heart say....it was fracking worth it baby!! xD

My emotions were ALL over the dam place! At some points, I had no idea what to think, who to trust or hate!
Lexi always said this book was dark, but I didn't feel like it was very dark, Ryder's book was definitely darker in my opinion, but emotionally this book won.
So I guess in terms of emotional trauma this one wins slightly, but it was not as dark as I was expecting.
It did take me for quite the ride though! And it's very long, this is essentially two books I would say. It has two parts. We start where we left off in the previous book's epilogue really and we're introduced to Cam, his expectations and feelings and also Izzy's dilemma since he's no longer who she remembers.

This book had a LOT of twists and turns! At some points I was at the edge of my seat believing the worst was going to happen, this was war after all, and in the next my jaw dropped because of some sort of betrayal or nefarious plan.

Safe to say this book makes the series come FULL CIRCLE and it's an AMAZING series!
I can't wait to read Khalid and Emine's story! I've been wanting more from them since 'Blood Day'. :D

I'm also looking forward to the new spinoff series in this world because I am definitely NOT ready to leave this amazing world!!

The Blood Alliance series is one of the best paranormal series I have ever read, so this is a no-brainer 5* from me and I highly recommend the series!
The books must be read in order though so start with Chastely Bitten! :)

This is a DARK series though with a LOT of triggers throughout the books, it's not for the faint of heart, but I absolutely LOVE it and I've re-read this series several times. :)

Cam and Izzy’s story, wow, what a fantastic culmination of the Bløōd Alliance series! On it’s own, Cam and Izzy have a complicated, difficult, and wonderful story. We’ve seen this building up throughout the series, glimpses of Izzy, talk of Cam, and things are definitely not as anyone would have anticipated, thanks to Lilith and her manipulations. As a result, we have a heart wrenching romance, with Izzy struggling to bring back the man she fell in love with, who no longer remembers a thing about her or their relationship, and Cam, missing his memories, and relying on the word of those around him, all while his own thoughts seem to slowly question his circumstances.

This book, which is most definitely a beast of a story, not only gives us this great romance, we also get to revisit all our favorite couples from the rest of this series as they all come together to overcome everything that they are fighting against. We get some interesting new twists to the Bløōd Alliance origins, not to mention getting to see all these fantastic characters working together. And as Izzy fights for her love, and Cam struggles with his beliefs, the rest of the characters bring together an absolutely epic conclusion to this story. Not to mention dropping little morsels for some potential new stories we may see down the line in other series (definitely looking forward to those!). I absolutely loved this book, and it was a great end for this series. And even though I’m sad to see it end, what a way to go. I’m posting no spoilers for this story, there’s so much to enjoy, and it’s better to go in and just enjoy the ride….. and you will definitely enjoy it.

BRILLIANT! I have been waiting for this last book in the Blood Alliance Series and boy did Lexi deliver a fantastic conclusion.

I was reading this with bated breath as the first part was a hard read for Cam and Izzy (Ismerelda) as Cam has lost his memories of them being close. This couple had been together for thousands of years but Cam had deceided to block Izzy's mental link 118 years ago so he could go it alone with his plan not letting Izzy in on his plan. When they met after this time apart Izzy was excited to see Cam but it didn't go well at all as this was not the Cam that left 118 years ago plus not knowing what they ment to each other with his memories fried.

This was a story of two halves and the second part after Cam unblocked his mental link to Izzy he realized what he had done to the love of his life and they had it all on to find out who was behind Cam losing his memories. This was fast paced with the Alliance having to rally round to stop world domination taking place. There are secrets and lies that you wont know who to trust and who is playing a part. Absolutely loved this story, it had me on the edge of my seat through out not knowing how this was going to unfold.

This whole series has been a wild ride

I have loved every book in this series, and this final book was no different. The overarching storyline culminates within these pages. Ms. Foss is a masterful storyteller and she has managed to wrap up this series with a nice big bow.

Cam is one of the oldest vampires in existence, having lived over a millennia. He was kidnapped, tortured and "reprogrammed." He no longer remembers his mate, Ismerelda ("Izzy"). Without his memories, particularly ones of her, his humanity seems to have vacated and he is not himself. Izzy is determined to bring him back to her. This is all set against the backdrop of the sinister plot to rid the world of humans. There's some twists and turns in the story, but you will enjoy every one of them.

My only gripe is that my love, Kylan, didn't have much "screen time." But Ms. Foss made up for it by giving us a lot of Ryder. Ooooh, I could never choose between those two bad boys. Most of the characters from previous books are featured here, and it was nice meeting old friends again.

I loved this story, loved this book, loved this series. I highly recommend any of Ms. Foss' books, but if you love vampires and dystopian type settings, you'll love this series.

Have you ever had a series that you became so invested in that you could imagine everything about that World? Been gutted by extended release dates for the series? Anticipated the moment you’re finally able to get your hands on the book?
And then the moment comes!
Your entire life is now invested in devouring the book, nervous about how our Fav author is going to end our beloved series.
Then the emotions start! ANGER! Laughter! ANGER! Jumping up and down because your Book Boyfriend shows up (looking at you, My Ryder, my viciously delicious man) then even more of your favorite characters from the series shows up! Then we get Love and Groveling then BAM! ANGER AGAIN (not spoiling Who the Anger is towards)! Then Shock! More laughter, More Love and then … then … the Perfect ending.
For all the fans of this series that have been anxiously waiting for this book (l’m not talking to those that have left mean reviews Before the book was ever released), Ms Foss absolutely gives us everything we wanted plus more than we could’ve hoped for in this book.
Excuse me now, I need to go start this series from the beginning and live in this series All Over Again. Yall enjoy!

Thanks to the TW, I knew I would have some issues with the story. The Author herself reached out on a comment I made about how I was so disappointed when it was first released, because I was a huge fan of the series and had waited SO LONG for this book, only for it to be a very different tone from the others in the series. She was amazing and understood my disappointment and reluctance to read this story, due to my triggers. So it sat in my KU borrows for months, and I finally felt okay enough to read it.

Because of all that, I would love to say I liked it, but that would be a lie.

I felt detached from the characters I had grown to love over the series. I was so disappointed in Cam's character after books full of build-up. For this to be the end of something I loved, I would say I am left feeling underwhelmed.

Cruelly Bitten🧛‍♂️

Cam and Izzy’s story spans thousands of years…a vampire and his Erosita😍 Unfortunately, Cam decides to go it alone and blocks Izzy’s mental link to him and disappears. In that time, the world has changed and is no longer ruled by humans, but by vampires and lycans.

The rebels are fighting this new world order with everything they have…until one day, more than a century later, Izzy receives word that Cam is alive and well. But not everything is as it seems and Izzy realises that Cam, is definitely not the Cam who left her 118 years earlier😳

This story is the one I’ve been waiting for to find out how it all “ends”…and it did not disappoint❣️I was enthralled from the very first sentence…even sleep was overrated as I continued to read…who needs sleep anyway🤗 So excited we have a few spin offs from this series and I can’t wait to dive back in when they start😍

I received an advanced copy and willingly leave my honest review❤️

Lexi wasn't kidding when she said this book would be dark, especially the first half of the book. Cam definitely did not care about consent and just took what he wanted. But I had to admire Izzy and how she wasn't giving up on her mate, despite the fact that all signs pointed to him never being the same again---or at the very least someone who cared about her. Izzy's growth and resilience throughout the book was great to watch, and I loved seeing how she came to terms with the fact that Cam would never the be the same Cam she had known for a thousand year again and instead learned to love the new version of him---one that loved her just as much after he finally figured out that he had been lied to, just with a little more of a possessive edge.

What made this book even better was seeing all the other characters from previous books. I especially loved Ryder and Damien's little chats and all the fun banter between the two of them. Every time he was on the page, he stole the show.

It was a great end to this part of the story. I can't wait to see what Lexi does with this world in the future. I'm sure it'll be just as great.

Wow...awesome conclusion to this series!

The author had a lot to wrap up, so I wasn’t surprised that the book was 700 pages. Told from multiple POV, previous characters had their own chapters. Some characters from another series were also in this book. I can’t remember exactly how it all worked together, just that there were some key things that I remember reading about them. I read too many books to remember all the details.

I will miss these characters, but I am also glad that the series is finished. I definitely had some concerns when the author gave a warning about how dark this book was...I’m not a fan of a character losing their memory for 1/3 of the book. I was pleasantly surprised that it wasn’t too dark and the intrigue made up for the memory loss. Definitely worth reading again and again.

Cruelly Bitten by Lexi C. Foss brings the Blood Alliance series to an end.
In this book, we follow Cam, the oldest vampire, who has lost all memories of his mate Izzy after being tortured by some kind of technology for decades.
Izzy is devastated when she learns that her beloved doesn't remember her and thinks he is some kind of Liege who looks down on all humans. Will she be able to retrieve his memories? Or will he succumb to his dark desires and kill her?

Apart from Izzy and Cam's story, we also find out how the revolution, that had been in the making since book one, ends. While I enjoyed the love story (which was less dark than I'd anticipated) and the occasional chapter by characters from the previous books, I was a bit disappointed by the outcome of the rebellion. I would have hoped for a more global solution after all that preparation.

A-maz-ing!

This book was definitely worth the wait! I loved it so much! There were so many moments that had me on the edge of my seat. I would read lines ahead and then have to go back and start over because I simply needed to see what was going to happen. I am in love with Izzy. She’s so strong and endures so much without breaking. It’s really quite enviable to see her come to life and fight so hard to claim what is truly hers. Cam is the perfect anti-hero and her match in every way. It took some time for me to get there but he really turned up. Cam’s reverence for Izzy is really hot to witness. He’d definitely let the world burn if that meant keeping them together for eternity.

I’m truly looking forward to more from this world!

A story for Cam and Ismerelda

This is book six and it’s fire for series. We have been waiting for Cam since Darius and Juliet started us on this road to find a new way to exist not just through brutality under Lilith and her minions. As we found out Lilith had so much help and support to craft her power and experiments. So it was a surprise the depth of her plan and over a hundred years of trying to create the living blood bags. This is where Jace, Darius, Damien, Ryder, Kylan, Edon, Luna, Silas, Cedric and their mates and prodigies take on the bad member of the blood alliance. As you remember Ismerelda has been taken to go see Cam. However, all is not what it seems. . . . Read On!

wasnt what i expected but it was still good!

This series introduced many new things i havent really read alot of including smut! I enjoyed it but i feel there is just too much smut and not enough story.. my favorite characters were luna silas and edon and first time reading a triad like that. I didnt expect it to end the way that it did! I never read blood day and now i feel like i should however I feel like its the same story same theme just different characters…so i had no motivation to read it. with that being said it was cool to see all my favorite POV in this book ryder and kylan damien! Would have liked more story and after math of the fall out but alas its finished and i feel fairly satisfied with the outcome. Its entertaining for sure.

i can’t believe this series is over 😭😭😭😭

i’m so sad 😞 but seeing that this author has so many other books to enjoy has brought me a great amount of joy

anyways, this series was everything like i adore vampires and i loved this universe and the way vampires were portrayed in this. like every time i think about vampires in general while reading this series, i was thinking about specifically the lore in these books and i never do that.

i loved izzy and cam, they were amazing and obviously i knew it was gonna be difficult at the beginning bc of everything we knew but this man grovelled and made up for it for sure.

i also loved the cameos and povs of last couples. they were amazing cause every couple in this series is iconic so seeing them a little more was awesome
