This is the ending to what has been a thrilling but horrific series about a dystopian world under the tyranny of the President whose craving for total power almost brought annihilation to the Western Allied States aka WAS. I love the way Aaron Hodges writes about the three strands of creatures currently living and fighting with one another, the humans, the Chead and the winged humans, the last two being the result of the massive experimentation the government had carried out on the human population. He makes us see behind every type so that we realise that they are all sentient, all want to survive and fight for their group to survive, all look out for family and want their kind to survive into the future. We see the heartbreak in all groups as well as the fear and hate they feel for one another as they see the 'other' as monsters and freaks. This is the world our group of heroes is currently living in and Liz is seeing all those she loved and cared for dying before her very eyes and she vows vengeance on those who have made their life a living hell. We also see the war between the rural and the urban areas and those residing there, and no matter the evil going on around all of them humans are still ready to take down those more vulnerable than themselves. This last book gives us the rebellion we have been waiting for, and the revenge which all those who had suffered in the laboratories at the hands of the director and at the orders of the president have been craving for, however will this bring peace in the WAS when this is taken care of? Will all three types of beings be able to live side by side without tearing each other apart or is this the end of the world as they knew it for good? This nail biting, terribly hard and cruel series, full of losses and torture and mental slavery, gives us the massive ending we have all been waiting for and it really cannot be missed.

Overall series review.

A great conclusion to a good series.

I usually don't get into these types of books but for some reason this one got my interest. I enjoyed learning about the characters and really liked how their stories were woven together by the end of it.
In my opinion there were a few loose ends left behind like how the world reacted after everything went down, but I was still satisfied by the ending though.
To me I think the author did a fantastic job raising the question the big question " Just how far will humanity go to achieve control? " I'm not sure if that was the intended message for this book but that's the one that I'm walking away from this series with.

The character development was good at the start of the series their only teenagers who have been ripped from their homes and forced into a secret crazy project against their will, overseen by a corrupt government. There they endure horrible treatment and abuse where their basic human rights are stripped away, and they see behind the curtain of their world for the first time. By the end we get to see how their journey and the trauma that they have endured has shaped and molded them into the rebels that they become overtime while some are pushed passed their limits and others cling to the bonds that they have developed between each other in order to survive.
Overall, the character build is good as some rise and others fall for what they hope to accomplish and choose to believe in.

There is a lot of abuse and violence but in all honesty, you should already expect that to some degree. There is romance and it grows throughout the series between characters, but I didn't think it was really explicit in my opinion. Alot of kissing and a few in depth scenes but again I don't believe that it was all that heavy in detailed.

All and all I really enjoyed reading the series and was swept up in the good and evil duality of the plot, not to mention the twist and turns along the way.

Book Three of Three with closure and loose ends

Violent adventure continues with romance and some sex. The final villain is the President. The Chead and the winged teenagers attack in 3 groups. Liz and Chris reconcile. Ashley and Samuel also survive. The winged teenagers gain 6 new ones. The Chead are a loose end. Also, there is no resolution of the remaining people and states. The ten winged teenagers inhabit an abandoned lab. There is plenty of material for a follow-up, but there is closure for Liz and Chris and also for Ashley and Samuel. There are 6 additional winged teenagers due to the deceased President.

so good it’s addictive

Great adventure and the characters are always a step away from blowing your mind. The ability to have you loving a specific character one moment and then hating them the next but then forgiving them lastly.

This final book in the trilogy was as wonderful as the first two. The characters were well developed, the plot kept me wanting more. Highly recommend.

I enjoyed the books, except I had to take breaks from reading as quite emotional

Cop out

The trilogy was brutal and frequently illogical. Hell, grab a gun off someone and shoot. The ending is unsatisfying. Given all of the precious exposition, the lack is truly stunning. Deus ex machina without the machina.

Great

This end to the series brings an expected dangers, fights, and losses to our characters. A fitting end to this group as they fight for the world.
