Anica Maggard was born under a lucky star. Her big sister became her very best friend. Her debut novel was an instant bestseller. She lived in the apartment of her dreams at the age of twenty-five.
But luck changes. . . and sometimes it runs out entirely.
Cancer steals her sister, and that loss robs Anica of her words. Years later, she still can't even find the desire to search for them.
Ethan Trainor coasts through life, trading on his boyish grin, cerulean eyes, and ample trust fund to succeed. No one has ever bothered to peel back the façade and discover that Ethan's glorious life didn't begin with a silver spoon.
It began with bars on his windows.
A boiling rage simmers just below the surface, and when the demons from his past swing back around, that fury threatens to consume him.
When fate drags Ethan to Atlanta to confront his past and Anica there to search for her future, can they both find the peace they need to let go? Or will they lose what really matters in the process?
Finding Peace by Bridget E. Baker is book 8 in the Finding Home series. I have adored each one of these stories, and find it a little bittersweet that this is the last one! Jennifer Jill Araya and Connor Crais narrate this audio book.
Anica is a former best selling author, that has recently run into a string of bad luck. She is desperately trying to find her voice and inspiration again in her writing. Ethan is living the good life in Hawaii when some unfortunate circumstances dealing with his difficult past resurface. When these two meet for the first time there is instant chemistry. Baker's ability to write passionate and dynamic characters is a true talent of hers. Together these two fit perfectly, and their journey to an HEA is beautifully written.
Connor Crais and Jennifer Jill Araya's voices once again compliment each other so well as Ethan and Anica. Their ability to switch back and forth between different character personas and accents is amazing. I never have to guess which character is speaking.
Overall, Finding Peace is a treasure of a book, that will leave a huge smile on your face. This is entire series has been so inspiring and uplifting. This series is a new favorite of mine, that I plan to revisit sometime in the future.

So, I've finally come to the last book in this series, and I'm a little sad that it's over. I've enjoyed these feel-good stories with sweet romances so much. Anica wasn't one of my favorite characters going into this, but after reading many books by Bridget Baker, I was confident she could win me over to Anica's side, and I was right. Anica and Ethan's story was pretty smooth most of the way, with only a couple of little bumps, and I liked how easily they fell into their relationship.
There were some pretty heavy themes in this book—past abuse, and that abuse leading to the death of a loved one—but Bridget was able to write those elements into the story without it feeling too dark. I liked the way the book dealt with the topic of forgiveness. It made my think about how we can forgive but still keep our distance from someone who may not be healthy for us to be around. I also liked that the book showed that we can't control and make decisions for those that we love, and how tough that can be when we see they could be heading for something not good for them. This book also showed how low a person can be brought by their own actions and the consequences of those actions, and how sometimes a person can change because of that.
On a side note- I'm liking the rebranding that this series is going through. It's being renamed the Finding Home Series and the new covers are quite charming. I think it fits the series a lot better than focusing on the billionaire aspect of it did. Although there are billionaires in every book, the stories are heartwarming and the main characters in each book are looking for something important that's missing in their lives, thus the titles.
Overall this was a good ending to the series, and I'm looking forward to reading whatever Bridget writes next.
Thanks to the author for providing me with an ARC of this book.
A hot boxer and a rom-com writer. Swoon! 5 stars overall, 5 stars story, 5 stars narration
The first few chapters are very angsty, but stick with it. Then the story smooths out into the sweet, witty rom-com that readers expect from the brilliant B.E. Baker. I found this final book in the “Finding” or “Almost a Billionaire” series to be very satisfying with lots of appearances by most of the characters in the earlier books and a lovable new hero and heroine.
Anica Maggard is the sister of the Book 1 hero’s late first wife. It’s been a few years, but Anica is still devastated by the death of her sister from cancer. She had been a best-selling rom-com writer, but a mean ex-fiancee wrecked her confidence in her writing. She is temporarily living with her brother-in-law helping out with his kids and with no confidence in herself. Ethan Trainor had briefly appeared in book 2 running a fancy hotel and gardens in Hawaii. He had an extremely traumatic childhood with an abusive father who murdered his mother. Ethan was then raised by his millionaire uncle. When his father is released from prison, Ethan has to deal with the emotions that overwhelm him. Note: some details of Ethan’s past trauma can be triggering for some readers, and there is some violence during Ethan’s boxing/MMA matches.
Ethan and Anica are so great together. I love how they meet and slowly form a connection. Their first date is so funny! I love their witty banter and their compassion for each other. The chemistry really simmers, but there is just kissing in the book. The happy ending is delightful. In addition, Ethan’s adventures in boxing and MMA fighting are tense and exciting.
I requested and received an Authors Direct copy of the audiobook from the author, and I voluntarily wrote this honest review.
Most of my reads include at least one dead body - so this was a bit of a departure for me. Totally implausible scenarios executed with grace and pure fun. I waited to comment until the end of the series to see how it held up. Amazingly with so many characters - everything tracked true throughout the journey without errors. Rich characters in every book - successfully intertwining varied social strata - introducing new lifestyles and countries and revealing the darker sides of some lives. Tight writing that flowed evenly to illustrate effective living in the face of adversity, insecurity, and massive wealth - in the end we are all people with basic universal needs.
I enjoyed this series in audio, mostly through my library's Hoopla app. It has some greatly flawed but good characters, some that seemed bad but were redeemed by love and personal growth later in the series. Kids were great characters in this series, plus pets were included, thought I would have loved more. Some of the plot directions were surprising such as the Europe connections and the Santa legend. Some book endings seemed a bit rushed at the time, but then the characters recurred throughout the series, adding to their stories. I learned a little about living with paralysis, and walked in an author's shoes for a short distance. Glad I finally got this series. Same review added to each book.
The finale book in the finding series (or at least for now). We meet Ethan all the way back in book 2 and I’m so excited to see him get his happy ending. Ethan had a troubled childhood and he’s still full of anger. Anica is still coming to terms with her sister Lizzie dying and where that puts her now. Both need peace in their lives. Read about how they find it and enjoy! Loved this book
Anica and Ethan Dysfunctional Love Tryst! 3.2***** Spoiler Alert
Anica Maggard, only surviving sister of Lizzie, Amy and Chase's deceased mother, and famous, word-blocked author, met Ethan Trainor, wealthy hotel owner, boxer, and son of a convicted murderer of his mom. Together with Anica's help he overcame his rage, forgave his paroled father, stopped managing his sister's, Ana's, life choices and won his second UFC fight, as she overcame her writer's block to obtain a new contract for her 4th and 5 th novels plus film right based on her romance novels. Yes HEA for all, including Mary, Luke, and kid #4... Oh oh!!
Fair plot with returning characters and witty dialogue. The theme of grieving and letting out of one's inner rage to move on in life flowed through this novel. Loved Chase, Amy, and Troy's characters and can't wait for 3rd Generation Trust Babies' love trysts.
As always with a book in this series--wow. Baker has a gift for going deep, and the character wounds are tough ones to deal with. What I love about them is how the love interests find a way to help the other identify those and ways to heal. Sometimes, it can be an eyeopener for them about themselves in ways they didn't anticipate.
Wonderful characters, swoony romance, and it was lovely to get to see the mains from the other books again.
This book was slow starting out and I pushed myself to keep going. I felt the beginning was spent on mentioning all the characters from the previous books. Also there were parts that were repetitive throughout the book.
I agree with forgiveness because it’s so you can move forward. However it does not mean that you must have a relationship with the person that has hurt you. With that said I can’t understand how Ethan’s sister could have a relationship with Phillip.
I loved this story. Bridget E. Baker made me late for an appointment, almost missed AAA wrecker coming to start my car and I ordered a cup of coffee after dinner just so I could sit and finish this book. A wonderful message of forgiveness and love. Anica and Ethan both have issues they must face before they can really be together.
A good, clean story about how love can change and shape us and help us be the kind of person we didn't even know we were capable of. It's fun to get glimpses of the characters that I love from previous books in the series. I'm sure I will be reading it from the second time before too long.
I read the sample, loved it. Then had a hard time following all of the rules, traditions.and then couldn't put it down. I loved the main character and her insights for someone so young were amazingly stupendous. I gave many questions yet as I type in yes to buy the next book in the series.
Anica & Ethan meet each other's needs when they meet in Atlanta. Anica learns how to get over her sister's death so she can write again. Ethan learns how to get over his anger towards his father through forgiveness. This is a thought-providing story that can help anyone learn these lessons for themselves. I was given a copy by the author. I choose to write this review.
Anica and Ethan are both more broken than anybody knows. That is why they understand each other. That is how they help each other heal. This is a gut-wrenching story about abuse, loss, healing and love. More complex characters. Another happy ending. Do not miss this one!
I don't know if this is really the end of the Finding Home series, in a lot of ways I hope it's not. This is just good comfort romance that I enjoy a lot.
You'd think it would start to feel overcrowded with all of the characters from the books before crossing over into every book since, but it doesn't. And I appreciate that as well.
This is a refreshing and heartwarming little love story with endearing and charming characters that will have you enjoying their journey towards unforgettable unconditional love and healing love as well as family.
I have read this whole series and loved them all, but this is, by far, my favorite. Nothing touches me more than two flawed people finding their missing pieces in each other. Well done. The perfect ending to a perfect series.
I’m giving this book a 5 on principle because I loved all 8 books in this series. I usually only give books a 5 when they move me/stick with me for a long time, or if I could read them over and over again. I’ve already read most of this series twice, so that counts.
This story is a lovely portrait of how a person can honor someone they loved (grieving) without letting anger and bitterness overcome their lives. Both of the main characters have a beautifully developed story, as they learn and grow together.
The storyline isn't very compelling, but it's well told. I especially appreciate that this author actually employs an editor & a proofreader. That shows that she respects her readers enough offer a well written product rather than a slap dash mess. Kudos.
I liked it, ok. But it was just far too rote. Too ordinary, too the same as lots and lots of other stories. Just change names of people, towns and jobs and hey presto you’ve got another book! Not.
This book was a rollercoaster ride I didn’t want to get off! Some of life’s toughest lessons are deeply woven in this heart wrenching tale. So many perspectives explored and even more options but it’s no shocker that this love story got a happy ending with such amazing loving energies.
Sweet, fun book. I didn’t feel attached to either character in the beginning but it had a lot of previous book characters show up often so that was fun. I wished the ending was a little longer. Fun series to read.
Loved every single booking the series. Inked how the series started with Luke and Mary and ended with you finding out their pregnant again in the last book of the series. Can't wait to start a new series!
This book is a fun romance that also made me think, which I love! There is a lot about forgiveness & trust sprinkled throughout the story, & it is well said, especially in the context of the relationships that the main characters have!
This book is a superb conclusion to the Finding Home series. I'm thrilled that every character from book 1 to book 8 is incorporated, even though Anica and Ethan are the primary focus. I truly didn't want this series to end.
My favorite author! What a cool way to glimpse the author’s creative process and value system battles in the publishing world. What actual real people her characters are!
Great characters. I always love this author. Birch creek was my favorite. I put off reading this one because it was about a writer. Sometimes I feel those focus too much on their job. But this story was really interesting. I don’t feel like it dragged or slowed.
