I'm always excited when Ms. Andresen begins a new series as she usually manages to bring adventure and romance together into an intriguing series. Miss Charlotte Pennington is known for being a bluestocking, forthright, and overly intelligent, qualities not generally sought after by gentlemen of the ton. However, once the news of her incredible inheritance leaks out, her popularity soars, but for all the wrong reasons. Thus, when Charlotte's concern ratchets up a few more notches at the news of another murder, she realizes that if she is to have any hope at solving the mystery, she needs a man with influence. Placing an advertisement in the paper brings the Earl of Westmoreland to her door, much to her mother's relief. As Tate and Charlotte begin their investigation, it quickly becomes clear that they complement one another, until Tate comes to the conclusion that he needs more from her than the quick fix to his finances. The novel comes to an exciting conclusion, but not without some disruption to the budding romance. I received a copy of this book as a gift and this is my honest and voluntary review.
