INTRODUCING INVESTIGATIVE MEDIUM LYNN MONROE.Lynn is a self-taught medium who channels inspiration and affirmations for her blog. Her quiet life is thrown into disarray when her estranged and aging Uncle Fred insists that she take over his estate. Lynn's gifts as a medium soon reveal Uncle Fred's sinister past. Settling his affairs takes on new meaning when his departed victims seek Lynn's help in solving their decades-old murders.
Author and self-taught medium DL Benning became spiritually curious after her father's murder in 1984. It would take 25 years for her father to start a conversation with her. Since then, DL has sought out education and guidance to enhance her gift. She credits many teachers and kind souls from the Other Side for guiding her along the way
This is a quick and breezy story that reads like the real‑life journal of a spiritual medium. It’s the first in the Your Friends Came to See Me series and features a self-taught medium who solves a string of cold cases when the victims’ spirits come to her for help. I especially liked that there was nothing new‑agey about it at all. My thanks to Goodreads Giveaways and the publisher for an ebook copy to review. 3 ½ stars
I feel as though more could have definitely been added to this story to develop it into a better read. I did enjoy the chapters separating the victims and telling more about their stories. However I felt like so much was missing. How did Fred even get a wife after all of this? What changed? He needed to be at the receiving end of that justice instead of passing before police come to the conclusion of the cases. It took a while for me to actually get into this short read, but now I want more answers. The writing style was simple, yet surprisingly not as bad as some well-known authors I have read. Several other parts of the story just don't seem to line up. Why did Lynn go all this time as a "medium" without hearing from the victims? Why now? Irritating.
Goodreads giveaway win. I loved this one. Lynn is such a kind compassionate character and I loved the way the story was told from each victim’s point of view. There was a brief period in the beginning that was a bit slow and confusing but as soon as the stories of each girl began, I didn’t want to put it down. Can’t wait to read more of these.
I genuinely enjoyed this book, I was hoping at the end that all the spirits who were lost to the uncle, got their justice, and they did! This book had me wanting to turn the page and never stop reading it! Great book, I love how the author made sure each girl had their story told, it made me feel closer to them and I was able to picture the book in my mind, which is always enjoyable!
Very well written with great detail. I particularly enjoyed it because it focuses on the southern suburbs of chicago where I grew up. I hope there are more books to come! T
Self taught Medium Lynn discovers her uncle is not who she thought he was and ends up solving several cold case murders with the help of “kind souls from the other side”. This was a fast paced and entertaining quick read.
I came across this book through a friend. Excellent read, connecting the spirit to terrible facts of what happened. Intriguing how the medium used her spirit sources to deliver the truth of what happened to each of them. It's a quick read, page turner.
A very well written story . The author tells the story so well it’s like being right there. I look toward to reading more books by this author. Thank you D L Benning for gifting me this book..
Thank you to Goodreads give aways for this book. I wanted it to be so much more than what it was. I did not like the writing style and just couldn't get into it. I DNFed it a little more than half way. Maybe I'll try again to finish it another day.
