Rate this book
Sometimes, the most beautiful things come from piecing together the fragments of a broken heart...

The Ingenious and the Heart of Shattered Glass is the second book of The Ingenious Trilogy. A beautiful and emotional interweaving of art, science, and nature.

The Ingenious teenagers are traumatised after delving into the murderous Karl König’s mind. Tai Jones is struggling with the shock of aging after misusing his powers. And in a rare moment of lucidity, the ailing Dr Kendra has revealed, through a cryptic riddle, the whereabouts of one of the missing Ingenious children – so they send out a search party to the Amazon to find her.

Meanwhile, a team of scientists is brought together to work on the cure to save the children – headed by the Russian Dr Vassiliev, the only person in the world with the technical knowledge to complete it. But when he mysteriously disappears, they’re surprised to find that the key to getting him back comes unexpectedly via an animal. And to Professor Wolff’s shock, that animal also has an impossible memory linked to his own tragic past.

As they search for the missing scientist, as well as the Ingenious girl lost in the Amazon jungle, the teenagers make an upsetting discovery about the origin of their genius genes – thrusting them ever closer to a common and disturbing relative...

The ingenious and the heart of shattered glass is book 2 in the ingenious series and J.Y Sam's 2nd novel which is a sci-fi/fantasy novel.
This book drew me in from the start and I couldn't put it down. Like the 1st novel, it has barcodes through out which you could scan and took you to music pages and art pages like beatrix potter and Davinchi. Which gave the book a extra element and I enjoyed it and found it interesting.
I loved the relationship between the ingenious children and the professor and the overall story of the book.
I didn't want the novel to end but at the same time I did as I wanted to know what happened.
J.Y Sam has done it again with another beautiful, well written novel and I can't recommend J.Y Sam's books enough. I'm looking forward to reading more of J.Y Sam's work and to see what happens next in the series.

I'm kicking myself for waiting so long to pick this up again. I was instantly drawn in and annoyed when I had to put it down to attend to 'real life.' As was in the first book, the writing is amazing and the characters so fully realized.

Again though, I was 'disappointed' in the fact that there was no clear end to this part of the story. I am not a fan of books that end with the beginning of the next in the series. But that's just me.

I could not wait to read this book after completing the first in the series and it did not disappoint! The first book was one of the best books I have read in a long time. This ine is not quite as good but very close.

There was a small point in the middle of the book where I felt I got a little lost with all the details of the insects and animals but it soon got back on point and i could not put it down! Cannot wait to read the next one!

The trials and tribulations continue for these genetically engineered children. They rise to the challenges with the exploration of their skills and the repercussions, bound together through their genetics they work together. Meanwhile the doctors and scientists race to find a way of keeping them alive.

Book 2 in this series is another wonderful read. The anticipation builds to find out what happens next.
