He's clear about what and who he wants and will proceed with his mission at all costs. His motto is you can’t win if you don’t play!
What happens when these two can no longer avoid each other and forces well beyond their scope of reasoning push them together. Will Olympia let go and allow Gavin into her heart? Will Gavin be able to stay the course without walking away empty-handed? Will they find their way to each other because of love instead of circumstances?

Twyla wants to live in a world where books are sold with wine and cheese, that way she can buy all of her favorite things in one shot. Growing up in a fast-paced city, Twyla has relocated to a small southern town that's pretending to be a big city, where she works as a project manager.
When she's not marking off checklists and ensuring that businesses and projects don't collapse, Twyla is crafting stories about black families and black love, no matter how unconventional. The characters that Twyla creates will make the reader understand that 'all lovers have a story... hear them out.'
Her debut novel, The Rise of a Champ, is part of a four book series and is now available for purchase. To connect with Twyla, you can reach her via email at twylabstone@gmail.com
First of all, Gavin was bae!!!!😍 I remember Gavin from the hospital in Star and Kabe's book so it was interesting to see the back story of why she was trying to ignore him and he looked annoyed at her. He's bae, yet still flawed (hence his doubling back to his ex too many times😒). But then we see how passionate he is about his job and developing his assistant into a great executive and even being a friend to Olympia when he sees something is up even though they still weren't on the best of terms. I loved the intense connection Olympia and Gavin had, literally from the start. They definitely had physical chemistry, but there was a spiritual connection also. Now, Olympia did get on my nerves being wishy washy with Gavin🙄, but I think that all stemmed from her misguided perceptions about her parents relationship that they let go on wayyyyy too long. Them clearing that up years ago would have had Olympia in a much more open place a lot sooner. Because when she finally leaned into that thing with Gavin, it was wonderful!!!🥰✨ In the end, I was very happy where they landed. It was wonderful seeing how ALL The Champion Sisters ended up! Each one's HEA looked different, but that's the beauty of family, different parts that make one beautiful whole.❤️ Brava to Twyla AND Donnia for a great series!🙌🏾👏🏾
I enjoyed Olympia and Gavin for the most part although Olympia was a little bit too independent and stubborn and I was yelling at the pages, let that man love you. Plus her relationship with her parents was skewed due to simple misconceptions that should have been dealt with earlier on. I loved her sisters and their relationship. I also loved that Gavin wasn’t a huge pushover.
I love when black women non conventional perspectives are crafted well. The heroine was not looking for the man to ride up on the white horse and sweep her off her feet. Her life was complete, he added to her world. This was a great addition to the series.
This was a great ending of the Champion Sisters series Olympia and Gavin made a wonderful couple and seeing their live unfold was beautiful Black love, family, friendship and support was what this story was about Some tough issues was explored but done in a way that the reader could relate The sister bond and love was on full blast as in the other 3 stories I hope there will be a novella of their lives in the future
This was a pretty good book even though I was apprehensive to read Olympia’s story after the way she was portrayed in the other books. Olympia was definitively headstrong and was on her I don’t need a man for anything and no man will ever make me give up my dreams type ish and that made her annoying af. She thought she knew about why her mother never pursued her dreams and made assumptions about it thinking it was her fathers doing instead of considering the alternative that it was her mothers idea not to continue with her dream and that her dream changed and with that assumption it caused Olympia to have a somewhat strained relationship with her father and other men because she didn’t want to be controlled how she assumed incorrectly her father did to her mother. What bothered me with this is that she always claimed her mother to be her best friend so why not ask instead of making this unnecessary assumption. Then the way she treated Gavin was so wrong. This man loved her in spite of her being difficult and pushing him away because of what she assumed he would make her do if they pursued a relationship instead of just talking to him like a grown up and letting him tell her what he wanted instead of assuming. She caused herself more stress over nothing. Gavin made this story because this man showed so much love towards this woman while not allowing her to dictate everything and put his foot down when necessary while also allowing her to see his side of things without pressure and I loved him for that. Olympia was definitely written as a character you love to hate and get frustrated with and for fast reason I say this was a well written and good story. I would recommend this series but leave a warning that these sisters will frustrate you to no end with the way they treat these men that love them and treat them as the queens they were raised to be.
Finally this Champion Sister series is over 🤦🏾♀️‼️… I’m conflicted over “The Champ is Here” & the Champion Sisters series in general. This rating of 4⭐️’s is subjectively based on Gavin’s character only. Otherwise, Olympia earned this book ⭐️⭐️’s. Thereafter, I’m so exhausted, annoyed & bored with these hyper-sexual, arrogant, insecure Champion sisters. Honestly, other than occasionally mentioning southern jersey/tri-state area & the alpha male types in each book (Mr Champ, Troy, Kabir, Emery & Gavin) I wouldn’t have completed this series. I didn’t care for neither sister. …🤷🏾♀️
What a beautiful way to end a series!!!…I will truly miss these sisters and their journey!!!… I love the way the display of love the sisters had for each other, even in their differences!!!… The relationship they shared with their mother was beautiful, but even more, the difficulty with communicating with their father and how he communicated his feelings of being left out and letting, especially O know that he loved his wife and she was and will always be priority!!!… The journey was different for each sister, but they arrived at the same destination!!!…
Once again, another Champion sister gave her man so much he’ll that I don’t think she deserves him. These Champion girls give a bad name to “playing hard to get.” Which is amazing since they all have great relationships with their dad and each other. It was just too much. Olympia was just plain old mean! Zee is the only one who acted like she cared for her husband.
Love those Champions sisters and their other half. The definition of a strong and caring family where everyone has a cheerleader and best friend. With their type of love and support, failure was not in their vocabulary. I enjoyed all the sisters but my favorite was Ms. Olympia who allowed herself to be vulnerable and enjoy the love of a good man.
I really like Olympia and Gavin's story. I love how their story started. Gavin was serious about Olympia and I love that he didn't allow her to push him away. It was a pleasure reading this book.
