Definitely one of my favorite books about the Afterlife. The reason I wrote this book was to demonstrate that there is a logical explanation for spirit communication phenomena. This is whether the contact was a visitation, through a medium, near-death experience, shared death experience of deathbed vision. Everything can be explained through science and my intention was to bridge the divide between faith and science.

I love reading books about paranormal or supernatural stuff, but I'm always wondering why they don't apply actual science to it (well, probably because then most of it would be debunked), so I appreciated that Anthony uses real science to back up his ideas. I will admit a lot of the dialogue was stilted in this, but also it's not a novel, so I can't really fault him for writing technicalities. Overall this was an interesting and engaging look at what happens after we die.

Mark Anthony is a medium and the son of mediums. He grew up communicating with spirits, considering it a natural thing to do. Supported by his psychic parents, he became familiar with the ways of the afterlife. His understanding of life beyond physical death is what his book, The Afterlife Frequency, is all about.
STORY OF A LAWYER MEDIUM
Mr. Anthony begins his book by giving the reader a baseline from which he will explain his understanding of the numinous dimensions. His approach is scientific and logical, largely basing his view of how the universe operates on quantum physics. He says:
...these mysterious forces are energy. Everyone and everything is energy, which is part of an interconnected force. A well-known adage in the realm of quantum physics states that there is no matter, there is just energy, which vibrates at different frequencies. This is not philosophy--this is physics.
From here, he moves into describing the connection to the afterlife and spirits as he has experienced it. He tells a lot of his illustrative stories in novel-like format, which I thought a bit jarring at first, but it became engaging. This narrative style alternates with a more instructional tone where he expounds on his main concepts: the electromagnetic soul, collective consciousness, the RAFT method of spirit communication, spiritual situational awareness, and spirit blocking.
The book includes a section of ENDNOTES with extensive references. There is a bibliography, also extensive, to facilitate further study.
RAFT AND SPIRIT AWARENESS
Mr. Anthony is scientific in his approach to the afterlife, presenting his story with lawyer-like logic and respect for evidence. Even so, he does not back away from the more transcendent aspects inherent in the subject. And so his book is supportive of the better works in the field.
While I was ambivalent about his concept of the “electromagnetic” soul, I much liked his idea of the Collective Consciousness and spirit communication by means of it. It is not a new idea, but one that I think has not had enough emphasis. It leads to the idea of how communication is achieved with departed souls. Mr. Anthony describes a method for that connection he calls RAFT. When it comes to receiving messages from the dead, we should:
…recognize the presence of spirits and the signs they present, accepting the reality of the contact, feeling the importance and emotional significance of the message, and trusting your feelings as well as the truth and guidance provided by the message.
Building on RAFT, Mr. Anthony stresses the importance of spiritual situational awareness for detecting contact from spirits. This is basically mindfulness, which is important for all aspects of life.
But spirit communication can’t happen if we block it on our side. A simple negative attitude, or fear, is sufficient to cut ourselves off from spirit messages. Fortunately, the spirits tend to be persistent in getting their messages across, but making the connection is largely up to us. This is an important concept and one I credit Mr. Anthony for stressing.
SCIENTIFIC APPROACH BUT SOMETIMES TOO MUCH
I much liked Mr. Anthony’s scientific, logical approach to a mystical subject. It makes for a solid, and somehow reassuring, presentation. He does this without belittling the evidence of experiencers, likely because he is an experiencer himself, since childhood.
I thought the NDE and spirit communication stories he uses for illustration work well. He does a good job in presenting them in a sequence that illustrates his points and make for compelling reading in and of themselves. These include testimony from others, from his own family, and from himself.
At times, the novel format is a bit disconcerting, especially in the early chapters. It’s not that bad, though, and a lot of readers may prefer it in a nonfiction work.
Also, his invoking of quantum physics in describing the afterlife and the spirit dimensions struck me as a bit strained at points. It is interesting, but sometimes unnecessary. For example:

هیچ راه ارتباطی واقعی میان عالم ارواح و عالم دنیا وجود ندارد، مگر برای شخصی که در عالم به مراتبی از مراتب ولایت تکوینی رسیده باشد. یعنی یا برای حجتهای خدا و انبیا و یا برای کسانی که از طریق فانی شدن و تبعیت محض در ایشان به مراتبی از مراتب ولایت تکوینی رسیدهاند نظیر سلمان و دیگر اولیای خدا و عرفای حقّه که از طریق عبودیت و تبعیت محض از ولایت اهل بیت علیهم السلام به مراتبی از عالم ولایت رسیدهاند.
لذا آنچه که به عنوان ارتباط با ارواح یا احضار ارواح مطرح میشود، در واقع ارتباط با اجنه است؛ بر طبق روایات با هر انسان دو جن متولد میشود و مشغول میشود به آن شخص و اطلاعات بسیار کاملی از او و زندگی و حتی افکار و احساساتش دارد؛ شخص مدعی احضار ارواح در واقع با جن یا اجنهی مرتبط با آن شخص متوفی ارتباط بر قرار میکند که از قضا آن اجنه حتی میتوانند خود را به شکل آن متوفا ممثل کنند. باز در روایات داریم که ساحری بزرگ انسانی را میکشته و بعد ادعا میکرده او را زنده میکند و مردم میدیدند که شخصی به مانند او بعد از کشتنش زنده به نزدشان میآمده و بعد میرفته. در روایات بیان شده که این شخص دوم جنی است که خود را به شکل آن شخص ممثل کرده و ساحر و یا اجنه قوای مرده کردن زنده ندارند، چرا که این امر و امور نظایر آن منحصر است در ولایت الهی. اساساً سحر قدرت تغییر ماهیت و زنده کردن مرده را ندارد، علت سجدهی ساحران بر موسی علیه السلام همین بود. زیرا میدیدند افق دخل و تصرف و تحول حرکت حضرت موسی افق ورای افعال آنهاست. برای تقریب به ذهن، سحر مانند واکنش شیمیایی است. شما آب و قند را قاطی کنید، آب شیرین خواهید داشت، اما خواص آب و خواص قند تغییر ذاتی نمیکند. اما عمل اولیای خدا که ناشی از ولایت الله و تولی ایشان به ولایت الله است مانند واکنش هستهای است، ماهیت را تغییر میدهد. بر طبق صریح روایات، ساحر نمیتواند انسان را مسخ کند و تبدیل به حیوان کند، نمیتواند مرده زنده کند، حتی نمیتواند فقر و پیری و مرگ را از خودش دفع کند بنا بر فرمایش امام صادق علیه السلام، اما اولیای خدا در صورت امر و اذن الهی میتوانند به قدرت الهی در این امور تکوینی دخل و تصرف نمایند. انسان را به حیوان، مرد را به زن، مرده را به زنده، تصویر را به جاندار و... تغییر دهند.
از این مقدمه که بگذریم، چنانچه بیان شد، تکوینا امکان ارتباط اختیاری یک شخص با یک روح در عالم برزخ وجود ندارد، اگر کسی ادعا کند با اختیار خود هر گاه بخواهد میتواند با ارواحی از درگذشتگان ارتباط بگیرد و خبر بیاورد، در واقع با اجنهای است که از آن متوفی و خاطرات و افکار و احساساتی و وقایعی که بر او گذشته مطلعند، از اوضاعش در برزخ هم مطلع نیستند چون اجنه به غیب راهی ندارند به گواه قرآن کریم و آینده و برزخ نیز از مظاهر غیب به شمار میآیند.
لذا پذیرش ادعای ذکر شده در کتاب تالی فاسدهای فراوان دارند چرا که همینک در ایران خودمان نیز کلی افراد هستند با همین ادعا و اقوال عجیب و قریب هم میگویند نسبت به گذشتهی متوفا که عرض شد همگی میتواند درست باشد بدون آنکه به واقع از روح اخذ شده باشد. اما بعد مثلا بگوید روح دارد میگوید که ارث نباید به فلان بچه برسد و... خلاصه تالی فاسدهای فراوان از این جنس.
علاوه بر این کتاب خزعبلات بسیاری در خصوص بهشت و جهنم و برزخ دارد با ادعای ارتباط با ارواحی که در این عوالم بودهاند که بسیاریشان متعارض است معارف مسلم وحیانی اعم از صریح آیات قرآن کریم و روایات صحیحه در باب برزخ و قیامت و بهشت و دوزخ و به راحتی میتواند تشکیک ایجاد کند در مخاطب. (به عنوان نمونه در فصل دهم با عنوان جایی مثل جهنم وجود ندارد در صفحات 248تا255 در نهایت میگوید بعد از کلی تجربهی ارتباط با ارواح و کلی بررسی روی تمام افسانههای و ادیان و آیینها نظر قاطع من این است جایی به اسم جهنم وجود ندارد و عشق نامحدود انرژی الهی که ما خدا مینامیم، روحها را به رنج ابدی محکوم نمیکند و جهنمی بعد از مرگ وجود ندارد و جهنم واقعی مادی و موقت و در همین دنیاست و آن همین گرفتاریهای روحی و ذهنی و مشکلات زندگی است، این جهنم است.)
علاوه بر این مباحث به اصطلاح علمی نویسنده نیز شبه علم است و اثبات نشده و نقدهایی جدی بر آن وارد است! (نظیر بافتنیهای ص142 خط 4 تا 13)
لذا در مجموع کتاب مجموعهای از مهملات است که تشابهات زیادی هم با جهانبینی پر از نقص و اشکال و تناقض هندوییسم دارد.

For many years I ve been searching for a book that brings together the world of energy / soul with the world of science, and I 've finally found it. Written by a lawyer and a medium, the Afterlife Frequency connects the many mystical stories we hear about the energy / soul world - near-death experiences, extreme serendipity and stories of departing loves ones - with the world of science, including string theory, quantum physics and sub-atomic energy. Mark Anthony does all this, not from the shoes of a theoretician, but of a practitioner, being a medium that connects with the spirit world, but also an analytical thinker who connects modern science, and an anthropologist who reviews the evolution of science and religion. Highly recommended for readers with a curious soul.

I was so impressed with this book that I got a better understanding of the way people in general refusing to accept their beliefs as he indicated the No syndrome. Sometimes, reading other books give us a better understanding of the bible and the way Mark Anthony added the bible books chapters and verses and his explanation of it.
It documents us to understand better the connectedness that prevails between us all whether in this world or on the Other Side. It represents historical fact and the scientific basis for communication with spirits with the afterlife in a logical and easy to understand manner and the stories in this book are so engaging.

Oh.... I would absolutely read this book again! and Maybe I will! Mark Anthony can communicate with spirits. How an attorney can provide all this information about physics and biology is amazing! He credits Shirley MacLaine, who was very much into the spirit world, with allowing the further acceptance of the idea of spirituality. And George Lucas (creator of Star Wars) who had a near death experience. The idea of varying frequencies (low for the material world and higher for the spirit world) makes a kind of sense. And the collectiveness of the afterlife. I wish my pineal gland was more sensitive!

The first 5 chapters weren’t super captivating to me, but it got better after those. The scientific explanation was interesting, but I guess I don’t really need science to prove to me something I understand by gut feeling. I think he ended it really well. I definitely teared up a few times, but probably not my favorite afterlife/medium read. He mentioned another one of his books in this one.. I’ll probably check that out!

it would be nice
I like how he validates his personal perspective and puts his understanding in the context of his experience. Obviously we will believe what we wish. For myself, at 73 years of age, I’ve seen a lot of conventional thinking not pass the test of our evolving understanding of how life actually works. The afterlife frequency may be high school science 50 years from now.

While some of it was interesting, his theories are not "the scientific proof" mentioned in the subtitle. It turned out to be more of a promotion for mediums than anything else. While I am a skeptic about mediums, I do think there is something to his theory of the brain being a "host" for the "electromagnetic soul".

I had been looking into ghosts and scientific explanation for spirits and found this. Delves into the science of what happens to our souls when we die (energy cannot be destroyed etc), while being easy to understand. Fantastic, sentimental and scientific read❤️
I thoroughly enjoyed this reading. The stories of people and their experiences with those that have transitioned resonated deeply. Mark does a great job detailing why, when, and how we experience non physical communication. The book was an enjoyable read, I couldn’t put it down.

Fascinating but flawed
I thought the concepts and information were fascinating and presented well. However, the stilted, comic book- like dialogue really distracted from the message! I had to grit my teeth to ignore it and finish the book because I do think the author had important things to relay. Seems like a decent editor would have helped with this….

What a great story teller. The subject matter is fascinating in and of itself but the way he weaves his stories is a true talent. Some are laugh out loud funny. What a fascinating guy and so authentic. Though the topic is certainly heavy, it was a pure pleasure to read and instructive also. I’ll definitely be reading more of his books.

I enjoyed this book, the author makes everything are sense. I’m relatively new to this, and so happy to have found this book and Mark Anthony. I’m definitely going to be getting the rest of his books.

This book sounded interesting, especially given the author's credentials, and it was interesting up to a point. However, I found it to be very repetitive. After a certain point it didn't hold my attention any longer so I stopped reading. Another reader may find it more compelling.

I appreciated this book and loved hearing about the different examples and readings. I do get confused at times as many mediums/psychics contradict each other. Mark Anthony said he was able to see his parents and while Rebecca Rosen says that you can't see or hear those that were closest to you.
