Hajime Isayama (諫山 創 Isayama Hajime, born 1986) is a Japanese manga artist from Ōyama, Ōita. His first and currently ongoing serial, Attack on Titan, has sold over 22 million copies as of July 2013. He has mentioned Tsutomu Nihei, Ryōji Minagawa, Kentaro Miura, Hideki Arai and Tōru Mitsumine as artists he respects, but stated that the manga that had the biggest influence on him was ARMS.

I expected this to be short stories but in manga form. So much so I opened it from the right and found I was at the end of the book.

This short story collection is nice enough. It tells the stories of various characters who have dreams and what they dream about, their interactions before and afterwards but there is very little to get excited about unfortunately.

I felt compelled to read this since I’m reading the whole series but if this didn’t come inside the box set then there is a good chance I wouldn’t have read it. I’ve given 3 stars but honestly if Goodreads did half stars it would be 2.5.

i throughly enjoyed this read! very refreshing to read a novel-time book rather than the traditional manga. i loved getting inside each character’s mind. the rain section was fantastic for pairing up characters and drawing on things briefly mentioned in the manga and expanding upon them and the relationships between characters which makes the betrayals of annie, bertolt, and reiner that much more heartbreaking. the dream section was so well done and i loved getting a look at each character’s thoughts in more depth and getting to know what happens when they’re in their heads

"You know, Eren. If you're going to kill every last Titan, that means you, too, must disappear from this world."

Two collections of stories of familiar characters written in prose, not comic, style. It was neat to see some characters in different medium, and there were occasionally moments of good emotion. That being said, it isn't nearly as compelling as the manga. If I wasn't finishing the entire series, I think I'd have stopped reading this early.

3.5 stars. These were bittersweet little short stories that happen earlier on in the series. My favourite ones were the ones to do with Erwin, Levi and Hange (aka my top 3 characters).
