A good and simple introduction to the main concepts and frameworks used in the theories of the third world. Chapters on imperialism, development, neo-colonialism, dependency and state were good summaries with references to primary and secondary sources.

هذا الكتاب لا يقرء على عجل، لعله أخذ مني فترة زمنية لانهائه أطول من أي كتاب أخر، حتى أنني بت احمله معي في كل مكان، كل فصل من الكتاب يعتبر اطروحة اكاديمية ومعرفية بحد ذاتها، تحتاج للتفكير والبحث والنقاش، اخذت خلال قرأتي له عدة استرحات لأقرأ كتب أخرى، لرغبتي في التركيز في القراءة وعدم الشعور بالملل، بسبب حجم المعلومات والاطروحات الزخمة.
أنصح الجميع بقراءته بالطبع..

كان أحد الخيارات الموفقة التي قرأتها على الاطلاق..انا لااتكلف بكتابة تقديم لكتاب هنا كثيراً..لكن هذا الكتاب يستحق الكلفة وأكثر...هذا الكتاب فتح لي أفاقاً جديدة لا منتهى لها وأثرى إحساس بالجهل وبأن فوق جهلي جهالات..هذا الكتاب موسوعة صغيرة ومعلم في وريقات ..يناقش طبائع الواقع والنظم والأيديولوجيا وتأثيرها على البشر والحجر بالتفاصيل والبيانات والدلائل...جهد موفق ومشكور للبروفيسور بي سي سميث..وجهد مشكور جداً للعظيم خليل كلفت الذي أثرى الكتاب بمقدمة في غاية الروعة تناول فيها مزايا وخبايا ونقائص الكتاب وعلق على مضمونه ومتونه...لقد عشت خبرة ممتازة مع هذا المعلم ولم اندم على كل قرش دفعته فيه

One of my favorite textbooks. Provides a basic understanding for 'Third World' politics- Peasants, Revolution, Colonialism, Ghost of the past colonialism, the active institutions etc. I hate the term Third world, our world is one.
