They tell me he's dangerous. His memories tell me he's not. Someone is lying, and it's my job to figure out who.
21-year-old Aurora Reynolds is an artist in the canvas of the mind. Rory is a lobe-tech, one of the chosen few who can navigate another's memories to find their most guarded secrets and exploit the intel they're hiding. She’s the best chance the country has at stopping the Seers—the terrorist organization using the weather as a weapon.
January 13, 2042 should be just another day of pillaging minds and gathering secrets for Rory. But when she turns down the normally sterile hallways to her office, she finds them covered in blood.
What she finds inside her new subject’s mind is even more startling.
Not everything is as it seems in this fast-paced, can’t-put-down dystopian romance. For readers of The Hunger Games, Divergent, and the Selection.
PRAISE FOR THE STORY SEER:
"I’m absolutely hooked and I can’t wait to read the next books in this series!"' -Amazon Reviewer
"I love books that I feel emotionally invested in and this was one of them! Amanda really helps you to paint a picture in your head of all the details and it’s hard not to get emotionally attached to some of the characters! It was such a fun suspenseful escape for me! I can not wait for the next book!!!!" -Amazon Reviewer

"Would definitely recommend for those bored of the same old tired story lines and looking for a new and creative twist." - Amazon Reviewer
"Wow! I’ve read a lot of dystopian books, but the world built by the author really surprised and intrigued me (which is hard to do). So big kudos on such an interesting concept! And then the story and characters just suck you right in. Beautifully done. I can’t wait to read the next book!"- Amazon Reviewer
Such a great book for a first time author! This story has the feel of The Giver and Divergent. Set ~20 years from now, the book is far enough in the future to have a dystopian feel but close enough to still feel relevant and realistic. I hope the sequel will lead to healthy romance for our protagonist. She deserves a good partner she can trust.
A Dystopian book at it's finest. The author puts together a world that doesn't seem too far fetched from the world we're in now. Aurora 21 who works hard and is the best lobe technician Dream has, has her world shook up with a new case and her life unfolding. She starts questioning things in her life and trying to understand why this man is at the Dream since his memories aren't like the people's before. Aurora's eyes are slowly opened she fights for the normalcy she's so used to but craves more because nothing is what it seems.
I couldn't put this book down. What an amazing first book I can't wait to see what she has in store for us next.
This story was AMAZING! From the concept to the implementation of the plot to the memorable characters, I was completely enthralled with this book from start to finish. It’s a wild ride of suspicion, betrayal, and the external dilemma of knowing who’s right and who’s wrong. Amanda Dew is such a talented writer. Her voice really spoke to me. I understood all her narration and thoughts, and I thought her descriptions, in particular, were really grasping.
There is SO MUCH to love about this story, so I’ll break down my thoughts into parts.
CHARACTERS:
Aurora “Rory” (the protagonist): I thought Aurora was a great protagonist for the story. I loved her importance to both The Dream organization as well as the rebels. The reveal that she is the only lobe tech capable of extracting/seeing memories was such an insane and unexpected twist. It really played into her journey of who is using her and who is not, who are the good guys and who are the bad. Reading about her internal dilemma really piqued my emotions, as it was a great way to keep my intrigue throughout the story.
Jordan & Emma (the lovebirds): Jordan and Emma have that romance you really crave in your life. Their commitment to each other, through memories and lack of memories, is really shown throughout the story. To know how much they love each other and to know what they have had to sacrifice for the rebels is so heartbreaking to read but also something that kept me invested. They were intoxicating to read about, and they are the emotional crux of the story. I also loved how each one of Jordan’s memories that Aurora saw was named after an emotion. It was a clever foreshadowing.
Noah (Emma’s brother): Noah has that rebel charm. I liked how he played into Rory’s questioning about who/what she was working for, and I liked reading how he challenges/taunts her with more lighthearted yet necessary dialogue. He felt like a release in the story—kind of like the comedic timing—but he also kept up the threat of the rebels and The Dream. I felt like I got a little sense of some attraction with Aurora and Noah . . . Will they get together in the sequels?
PLOT:
The plot was fast-paced and gripping. It felt like a psychological, dystopian thriller. The mind games that were displayed in each scene wonderfully distorted my sense of “Wait, are they good or bad?” I really loved guessing who the bad guy was. Also, I really feel like this book is a really genius book. The idea of looking into someone’s thoughts to get information on weather-controlling terrorists? Such a fun, imaginative idea. The plot twists were also another bonus because each one was so surprising and thrilling. I loved them! My eyes couldn’t read this book fast enough.
ENDING:
And with all this, the ending spurred my hunger for the rest of the series. I NEED TO KNOW WHAT HAPPENS. The story was wrapped up in a really nice way, where most of my questions were satisfied in the plot, and I felt like the open-ended scenes at the finale did well to set up a sequel/series. I would definitely be interested in knowing what happens to Rory, Noah, Jordan, and Emma next!
FAVORITE LINES:
“The familiar breathlessness and darkness take over, and I patiently wait until I’m thrust into my awe-inspiring playground.”
“I’m in the story.”
“The mix of perfume and her spearmint gum is intoxicating. And it’s dripping in sarcasm. If sarcasm had a smell. Whatever it is, her smell is the best smell.”
“The sound hits my ears like a chorus of bells played by a flock of angels or some crap like that.”
“I may not be able to give Emma the world, but I can give her tonight.”
Thanks for such a tremendously engaging read!

I really enjoyed reading this book… I don’t take the time to read much with 3 young children, but when going on a flight this weekend, I downloaded this book and it kept my interest so much, I read it in less than 2 days! Im looking to get the next book!
One of those books where I kept saying I'd just "finish this chapter, then put it down" until I realized I'd finished it. Interesting story with surprising twists. I loved the characters and felt they were well developed. Great read! Warning: ends on a cliffhanger, so you'll have to read book 2!
This was a great debut novel! Such a fun read and really kept me in the story, especially the last half of the book!! Cannot wait to begin the second book to settle all the cliffhangers!!
What a wild ride. This book was such a fun read. Twists, turns, deception, love. I truly enjoyed every moment of this book. I loved the main character and the plot is incredibly imaginative and intriguing. The setting and characters are well developed. I also enjoyed that it’s set in the future but not so far in the future that everything is different or unrecognizable. The author did an amazing job! Excited to read the next book! I received this book from the author through Voracious Readers Only
Absolutely loved this book! If you like sort of science-y mystery or romance type novels set in the future, then this is for you. Definitely looking forward to reading the rest of the series.
I’m not even done with the book yet, but I’m exhausted. It’s terrible, it’s so slow and boring. The main girl is so annoying, the romance is lame. I could not care less about any of the characters.
I really liked the premise of this book. The concept of a government agency using technology to extract information from memories was a unique twist on the standard dystopian novel fare I've read previously.
I also liked that this future was a future one could actually see happening, rather than Back to the Future style absurdity.
I also felt the author did a good job recapping the general plot of the bad guys once Rory figured some of the things out.
What I did not like:
I, personally, was really really distracted by some repetitive word choices. Seeing "heavens" "dear heavens" "my heavens" sometimes multiple times in the same page really took away from otherwise good writing.
I admit I skimmed some of the intimate scenes. They were too long for me.
Also, I felt that our "surprise villain" got a little more cartoonish than necessary in the end.
Conclusion:
If you like near dystopian future action flicks, this would be a good series for you. The plot is solid and unique and the writing is good. Be aware that this is the beginning of a series and you will be left on a cliff at the end.
Great story and world building. The main character is unlikable at first as she is such a door mat, but gets more interesting as she starts to take ownership of her life. Lots of twists and turns in the story and you just don’t know who to trust. A little predictable in some aspects, but not in others. The ending is a huge cliffhanger. I have more questions than answers at this point and look forward to getting some answers in the next book.
I’m not sure on this book. I may come back and change the stars later. The story was interesting, I figured out the big ‘twist’ almost immediately, so I was just waiting for it to come. I actually think it is weird that the book says it is based on the real-life romance of the author and her husband. I just kept wondering which of the relationships it was supposed to be from.
I received this book in a giveaway. The beginning seemed interesting, but honestly it was just ok from there. The writing was good. The relationship dynamic between Aurora and Blake only mad me angry. I found Aurora’s inability to take what she wants boring. I didn’t understand the ending. I just need more background.
Absolutely loved this book! From the very beginning, you were caught wondering where the story was going to go next, who can we to trust, and what will the next twist be. The world only 20 years in our future feels similar yet with some interesting and somewhat terrifying technological advances. Our main character, Aurora, is tasked with figuring out a terrorist group's next steps by peering through the memories of another. Aurora goes through quite the journey not only into the mind of another but in how she views her own life. Once you get near the end, you will not be able to put this one down!
Amanda is an incredible storyteller, and I am so excited to see where the story goes from here.
This dystopian novel for first time Indie author, Amanda Dew, is spot on! It was full of action and a whole lot of suspense! I loved the direction of the plot and the ending leaves the reader wanting a sequel!
The writing is just not great, sorry. It was too difficult to be invested in a story that was so slow paced that I found myself skipping several pages at a time just to progress things forward. Not for me, maybe fine for you.
Could not put this book down. The way Amanda unravels the story is well done and paced as we're let in more and more. And the twist! I did not see the twist coming and the book had me questioning everyone's motivations! Excited to continue the series!
